Qalisa Retirement Village
Qalisa Retirement Village is a Zimbabwean retirement home for the aged and is located in the Suburbs area in Bulawayo. The retirement home is headed by its Chairperson Dr. Catherine Hewitt. The village was placed under lockdown after its residents were quarantined when one of them died due to coronavirus infection.
The village was affected after one of its residents, Mr Ian Hyslop (79), succumbed to coronavirus and is one of those on the death statistics of Coronavirus in Zimbabwe. The village chairperson was accused by the family for negligence after the family claimed their father was ignored in his plea to leave the village so that he could be attended by his own doctor.[1]
