Remigious Matangira is a Zimbabwean politician who is a member of parliament for Bindura South constituency. He contested in the 2018 elections and won

Background

Remigious Toendepi Matangira was born on 1 January 1953 in Chivhu His parents could not afford the fees, and Jesuit priests had to pay for his education at Monte Casino. His family was so poor that when he was born, he was nicknamed Dhongi (donkey).[1]

  • Matangira joined the party in 1974 at the formation of the People's movement in Bulawayo.
  • Vice Provincial Youth Organizing Secretary to 1976.
  • 1977 supported the liberation struggle and in 1979 worked with Matebeleland North Province Youth Wing.
  • In 1981 was transferred to Bindura and in 2008 elected DCC chairman.
  • In July 2018 was elected Member of Parliament of Bindura South after he had the highest number of votes in that constituency.
  • In October 2023, Matangira was named as the new Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Mining Development in the 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe.
