Sekuru Gora real named Thomas Wadharwa was a Zimbabwean musician who played the Mbira. He was popularly known for his song Kufa Kwangu Zvarova. Sekuru Gora often expressed his message in a humorous and biting way.
Background
He was born on 27 October 1937 in Wedza.[1]. He would constantly watch his grandfathers building and playing the Mbira. When he was fourteen he picked up a mbira for the first time and, to everyone's amazement, was already able to play. Even at that early age he was called on to play at the mapira ceremony, where a homwe (spirit medium) becomes possessed by an ancestral spirit with the help of the mbira music. [2]
Career
Sekuru Gora released a vinyl album in 1992 with two songs namely the popular Kufa Kwangu Zvarova and the title track Nemakonde.Both songs were produced by Jona Sithole at Jenaguru Studios. [3] He released the album Vakuru Chaivo in 2001.[4]
