Template:Age in years and days (textual)

This template returns the number of full years and surplus days between two specified dates. If the second set of parameters is not included, it will return the number of full years and surplus days between a specified date and today's date. The two numbers are separated by the word "and"; the words "year" and "day" are plural when appropriate. The {{nts}} template is included in the year value, so that values produced by this template will work properly in sortable lists. Syntax

{{Age in years and days (textual) |year1|month1|day1}} (which then uses the current date as the second date)

Examples

{{Age in years and days (textual) |1989|07|23 |2003|07|14}} returns:  700113000000000000013 years and 7002356000000000000356 days

{{Age in years and days (textual) |1989|07|23}} returns:  700135000000000000035 years and 7002109000000000000109 days

{{Age in years and days (textual) |1989|07|23|1990|07|24}} returns:  70001000000000000001 year and 70001000000000000001 day

Note that this template does not check for incorrect input:

13pxN {{Age in years and days (textual) |1980|07|14 |1993|06|233}} returns:  700112000000000000012 years and 7002554000000000000554 days  (surplus days do not count as extra months)

13pxN {{Age in years and days (textual) |1980|07|14 |1993|88|14}} returns:  700113000000000000013 years and 70032471000000000002,471 days  (surplus months do not count as extra years)

Note also that due to leap years, the measure "years and days" fails to be fully additive. The following example is not an error, but each calculation uses a different definition of "year" (either 365 days or 366):
