Victoria Falls Rest Camps and lodges

The In Da Belly Restaurant at the Victoria Falls Rest Camp offers delicious value for money meals, so mom can also have a few days’ rest. The children enjoy the swimming pool and the huge shady trees in the campsite, so they will be occupied if you decide to catch up with your reading. Laundry and safe-keeping facilities are also offered.

The Location

The Victoria Falls Rest Camp is a mere 2 km away from the mighty Victoria Falls – the campsite closest to this natural wonder in Zimbabwe. The campsite is spacious with lots of shady trees, and each camping spot has a braai facility as well as power point and share communal ablutions (with hot water).

Accommodation

The Victoria Falls Rest Camp has the following lodges: 10 self-catering (self-contained) lodges (two bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each; bed linen provided; bath and toilet; kitchen with stove, fridge and all cooking utensils; ceiling fans in bedrooms), 15 self-catering (self-contained) lodges (two bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each; bed linen provided; bath and toilet; kitchen with stove, fridge but no cooking utensils; ceiling fans in bedrooms), 11 single chalets (two single beds; bed linen provided; communal ablution facilities), 3 double chalets (2 bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each; bed linen provided; communal ablution facilities; small fridge), 2 dormitories (one for men with nine single beds, one for women with six single beds; all bed linen provided; communal ablution facilities), as well as 12 luxury tents (two single beds in each; bed linen provided; lighting in each tent). The management at the Victoria Falls Rest Camp are in the process of installing air-conditioning in all the lodges – if you are adamant about having air-conditioning, ask for a lodge already equipped when you book.

Activities

The Victoria Falls offers a large number of activities – from a safari on the back of an elephant to a number of adrenalin rush experiences. The “Big 5 interactive safari” is a value for money activity, where you undertake a variety of guided game viewing drives. The adrenalin junkies will delight in white water rafting on the Zambezi, viewing the Falls from the air in a microlight or helicopter, canoe and horse trials, bungi jumping from the Victoria Falls bridge, flying fox and abseiling, quad biking and a number of river cruises on the Zambezi. A swim in the ‘Devil’s Pool’ (a small rock pool right on the ‘lip’ of the Victoria Falls) will reveal if you are truly brave (or foolish, depending on your point of view…).
