President Emmerson Mnangagwa has overturned a decision by ZANU PF’s secretary for legal affairs, Patrick Chinamasa, to dismiss six paid social media activists whom Chinamasa had labelled “rogue elements.”
In a handwritten note on an appeal letter from one of the fired activists, Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, Mnangagwa declared the dismissals “null and void.”
Musara, a member of the Varakashi4ED group, which promotes the president’s agenda on social media, had petitioned Mnangagwa to reverse the decision to fire them.
Mnangagwa’s intervention, which directly challenges Chinamasa’s authority, could further deepen the factional rifts within ZANU PF, a party already grappling with infighting over succession issues.
Chinamasa, the executive director of the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, had claimed that the activists were dismissed for insulting him and other party officials.
The group, paid to attack critics of Mnangagwa and amplify pro-party messages, has become a key player in ZANU PF’s online warfare.
One of the dismissed activists, Tinotenda Gachange, shared Musara’s appeal letter on social media, now having Mnangagwa’s handwritten comments and signature. Wrote Gachange:

Successionists and rogue anti-2030 elements cloaked in deceit are attempting to silence the voices of progress. Their intimidation tactics are clear signs of cowardice, aimed at undermining the persuasive efforts of the 2030ists who support President Mnangagwa’s term extension.

Gachange appeared to subtly criticize Chinamasa, although he did not mention him by name. He accused Chinamasa of attempting to intimidate the activists into abandoning their support for a proposed constitutional amendment that would remove term presidential limits.
Other activists set to be reinstated include Tafadzwa Mawire, Felix Muzondo, Pardon Mangwende, and Herbert Mathe.

Mnangagwa Undermines Chinamasa, Reinstates Fired Varakashi4ED Activists

The ZANU PF Politburo has expelled Central Committee member and war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza from the party for calling for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation.
At a media briefing at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Thursday, ZANU PF Secretary for Legal Affairs Patrick Chinamasa announced that Geza’s expulsion is effective immediately. He said:

The Politburo endorsed the recommendation from the National Disciplinary Committee that Blessed Geza should be expelled from ZANU PF with immediate effect.
As you are aware, he was a member of the central committee and that calls for even higher obligations to the success and unity of the party. He was also a war veteran.

Chinamasa said that Geza should have been aware from the outset of the potential danger and consequences of his remarks. He added:

He didn’t pay heed for whatever reason, and of course, we have taken a decision that he be expelled from ZANU PF.

Geza is reportedly in hiding due to several criminal charges filed against him by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
These charges include theft, undermining the authority of or insulting the President, and incitement to commit public violence.

ZANU PF Expels War Veteran Blessed Geza

Harare-based megachurch pastor Emmanuel Makandiwa has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to allow the safe return of former members of the ZANU PF faction, G40, describing them as harmless.
The G40 members were dispersed following the 2017 military coup that ended Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule. Many of them are now in self-imposed exile, fearing persecution from Mnangagwa’s government.
Notable G40 members who fled the country include former cabinet ministers Saviour Kasukuwere, Walter Mzembi, Jonathan Moyo, Patrick Zhuwawo, and Mandiitawepi Chimene.
During a recent sermon at his Chitungwiza basilica, Makandiwa, who leads the United Families International Church (UFIC), said the remaining G40 members should be allowed to return to Zimbabwe, as they no longer hold power and pose no threat. Said Makandiwa, as quoted by <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/makandiwa-calls-for-return-of-g40-members-says-they-are-harmless/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>:

I have so much respect for Walter Mzembi. It is unfortunate that they are in a foreign land as we speak. You look at Walter Mzembi—he is harmless. He is pure.
If they can allow them back into their country, it will be a blessing for your nation. There is nothing wrong with that. No one is powerful besides the power that you give them.

Mzembi was a regular attendee of Makandiwa’s church when he was still in Zimbabwe, and it remains unclear whether Makandiwa’s appeal was made to assist a prominent former church member.
Makandiwa also claimed that he had warned Mugabe during his presidency that he would be deposed, with Mnangagwa succeeding him.
The pastor further urged Zimbabweans who have sought better opportunities abroad due to the country’s economic difficulties to return home. He said:

Zimbabwe is full of blessings. Bring your children who are in the diaspora. They are blessings that have left.

Makandiwa is regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s high-profile church leaders with close ties to ZANU PF, benefiting economically through his association with the ruling party.
In 2023, Makandiwa invited President Mnangagwa to his church, where he publicly endorsed him, saying he was doing a good job at developing the country’s infrastructure.

A pastor named Makandiwa wants the Zimbabwean president to let G40 members come back safely. These members were from the ZANU PF faction and ran away after a coup in 2017. Makandiwa thinks they are harmless now. Some notable G40 members who left include Saviour Kasukuwere and Jonathan Moyo. Makandiwa also told Zimbabweans abroad to come back home, saying the country has blessings. Makandiwa has ties to the ruling party and in 2023 endorsed the president for doing good work.

Makandiwa Urges Mnangagwa To Allow Safe Return Of Harmless G40 Fugitives

MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora believes he is being targeted by ZANU PF through lawfare after the High Court nullified his 2022 election at the party’s congress, which saw him assume leadership.
Mwonzora claims that ZANU PF is behind the ruling as punishment for his opposition to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s alleged plan to extend his presidency beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms, set to expire in 2028.
Last week, High Court judge Justice Hapias Zhou ruled that Mwonzora must resign and allow for a fresh congress within six months, citing irregularities in the 2022 MDC-T Extraordinary Congress that led to his elevation as party leader.
Speaking to journalists in Harare, Mwonzora vowed not to be intimidated, reiterating his commitment to opposing the ED2030 agenda. Said Mwonzora (via <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/mwonzora-says-zanu-pf-punishing-him-for-resisting-2030-agenda-after-high-court-nullified-his-mdc-t-presidency/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>):

We will never allow the emasculation of our Constitution, we will never allow being bullied against defending our Constitution.

Mwonzora said Mnangagwa’s supporters should not be allowed to reverse what Zimbabwean voters endorsed in the 2023 referendum when they approved the new Constitution. He said:

The people of Zimbabwe are stakeholders, they spoke during the outreach programme about what they wanted in the Constitution. They spoke during the referendum on what they wanted in this Constitution. 
What they said they wanted in this Constitution was that a President must run the country for a maximum of 10 years, after which they must go home.
We are saying, President Mnangagwa, after the expiry of your term in 2028, go home, and nothing is going to intimidate us from this path.

Mwonzora claimed that MDC-T had formed a coalition with other progressive forces, including political parties, the church, civil society, and war veterans, to resist Mnangagwa’s ambitious plan to become a “life president.”

The High Court said Douglas Mwonzora's leadership of MDC-T is not valid and there must be a new election. Mwonzora thinks ZANU PF is behind this because he opposes Mnangagwa's plan to stay president longer. The court found problems with the congress that made Mwonzora leader. Mwonzora is not scared and will fight against Mnangagwa's plan. He says people want presidents to leave after 10 years. Mwonzora is working with others to stop Mnangagwa from being "life president."

High Court Nullifies Mwonzora's MDC-T Presidency, Orders Fresh Election

Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) leader, Mqondisi Moyo, has condemned the proposal by Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe to include Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology training in Zimbabwe’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) curriculum.
Speaking at a training session for councillors and local authority staff from Matabeleland North at the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology in Bulawayo on Friday, Garwe argued that ideological education should start at the earliest stages of a child’s development.
He claimed this would help cultivate a strong sense of national consciousness in Zimbabweans from a young age. Said Garwe:

We want you to go as far down as even the ECDs in terms of an ECD-based curriculum so that our children or our grandchildren will grow up knowing the nature, the structure, and the architecture of their heritage, which is Zimbabwe.

In an interview with the <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200039052/storm-over-ministers-ideology-lesson-for-ecds-call">Southern Eye</a>, Moyo described Garwe’s statement as a calculated attempt to embed a ZANU PF-dominated ideology within Zimbabwe’s education system. He said:

This move, under the guise of “national identity and patriotism,” is a direct threat to the cultural identity, language and heritage of Matabeleland indigenous groups, particularly the Ndebele people.
Garwe, a staunch ZANU PF supporter, is merely echoing the party’s long-standing policy of political domination.
The Phakamani High School incident highlights ZANU PF’s push. Students protested against being forced to learn the Shona language and culture, sparking concerns about the erasure of Matabeleland and Midlands indigenous languages and cultures.

Moyo also warned that Garwe’s proposal would undermine the country’s diversity and foster a culture of superiority.
He argued that by introducing ideological training at the earliest stages of education, the government aimed to create generations of Zimbabweans conditioned to accept the dominance of one tribe over others.

The Mthwakazi Republic Party leader is against a proposal to teach ideology in early childhood education. He believes it will push a ZANU PF agenda and threaten indigenous cultures. Garwe, a ZANU PF supporter, wants young children to learn about Zimbabwe's heritage early. MRP leader Moyo warns this will erase other cultures and promote one tribe's dominance. The proposal could create a generation that accepts one tribe as superior. Moyo is against this proposal as it threatens diversity and cultural identity.

Mthwakazi Rejects Garwe’s Proposal To Include Ideology Training In ECD Curriculum

Peter Munyanduri, leader of the New Innovative and Modernisation Front, has already begun campaigning for the 2028 elections, engaging with passengers in public transport vehicles.
During a recent ride, Munyanduri introduced himself, saying, “My name is Peter Munyanduri, 2028 Presidential candidate. Please vote for me.”
In an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200039029/presidential-aspirant-rolls-out-2028-campaign">NewsDay</a>, Munyanduri said many politicians make the mistake of only engaging with the public during election time, and he wants to be different by reaching out early. He said:

I am already campaigning, I believe I can be the best president for this country.
The kombi is where Zimbabweans debate everything — from politics to the prices of cooking oil. Why shouldn’t our leaders listen (to people) here first?

After the 2018 elections, Munyanduri joined the Political Leaders Actors Dialogue (POLAD) platform but was expelled for criticizing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.
Mnangagwa showered political leaders with luxury cars and generous allowances in exchange for their loyalty and praise.
But following his expulsion from POLAD, Munyanduri’s vehicle was repossessed by the State. He said:

My conscience won’t allow me to keep quiet when I see something wrong. I raised issues of unfair electoral ground.
I questioned the issue of rigging. There is unfair coverage of political parties. I also raised the issue of funding. Small parties do not get any funding. I was expelled for that.

Munyanduri gained attention during the 2018 election when he promised to provide a balanced breakfast, including eggs, bacon, and milk, for every Zimbabwean.
He also pledged to create a Fruit Authority of Zimbabwe to establish fruit tree forests across the country if elected.
However, he didn’t win the election and finished in fifth place.
In the 2023 election, Munyanduri didn’t run for president but instead campaigned for a parliamentary seat, which he lost.

Peter Munyanduri is running for president in the 2028 elections. He is already campaigning by talking to people on public transport. He believes in early engagement with the public and wants to be a different kind of leader. He was expelled from a political platform for criticizing the government. In the past elections, he promised a balanced breakfast for everyone and creating fruit tree forests in Zimbabwe. Presidential Aspirant Peter Munyanduri Kicks Off 2028 Campaign

ZANU PF Women’s League national chairperson, Mabel Chinomona, has declared that President Emmerson Mnangagwa will not be stepping down, despite growing calls from some war veterans for his resignation before the end of his term.
The calls for Mnangagwa to resign have intensified in recent weeks, notably from war veterans like Blessed Runesu Geza and Andrease Mathibela.
These demands come amid efforts by Mnangagwa’s allies to extend his presidency beyond his second and final term, set to expire in 2028.
Speaking to the national executive of the Women’s League in Harare on Friday, Chinomona castigated the continued attacks on the President, calling the situation unprecedented. She said:
<blockquote>
People are busy giving each other positions on social media, that this is your year, so-and-so will assume leadership. There is no sun that rises before another one sets…
It is common knowledge that from Mnangagwa, there will come other leaders, it is everywhere, this one comes and goes…
</blockquote>
Chinomona, who also serves as Senate President, accused some party members of accepting bribes as small as US$10 to undermine the party leadership.
At Friday’s event, she showcased state-of-the-art egg incubators, which will be distributed across all 10 provinces to support poultry projects led by women.

Chinomona Fires Back At Mnangagwa's Critics

The Welshman Ncube-led CCC has accused the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, and Senate President, Mabel Chinomona, of double standards after they indicated they would not act on any recall order against Sengezo Tshabangu until his court challenge is concluded.
Tshabangu, who has sparked controversy within the opposition party due to numerous unilateral recalls since October 2023, recently filed an interdict to stop his recall from the Senate following his expulsion for indiscipline.
His sacking paved the way for the CCC to recall him, but he challenged the decision, claiming the party’s disciplinary committee was improperly constituted.
Tshabangu named the CCC, its National Disciplinary Committee, the Speaker, and the Senate President as respondents.
In a surprising development, parliament’s lawyers indicated they would not oppose Tshabangu’s challenge despite being co-respondents in the case.
CCC spokesperson Willias Madzimure accused the Speaker and Senate President of double standards, pointing out that they had acted without hesitation on previous recalls by Tshabangu, even when affected MPs had filed court challenges. Said Madzimure (via <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/ncube-cries-foul-after-speaker-chooses-to-keep-tshabangu-before-court-decision-on-recall/">ZimLive</a>):

At the case management meeting, the Speaker of Parliament’s lawyers indicated, for the first time in the history of recalls, that The Speaker and President of Senate would not oppose the application but instead would abide by whatever ruling the court will make.
It is worth noting that the Speaker has consistently opposed applications filed by CCC against Tshabangu in which applications he should have been taking the position that he would abide by the court rulings.

When Tshabangu unexpectedly took control of the CCC after the August 2023 general elections, he recalled several popular CCC MPs, including Gift Siziva and Amos Chibaya, claiming they had ceased to be members of the party.
However, Tshabangu failed to provide any evidence regarding how the MPs had ceased their membership, what charges, if any, they faced, or whether any disciplinary action had been taken against them.
Tshabangu will learn his fate on March 17, when the court is set to deliver a judgment on his challenge. The matter will be argued before the Judge President on March 13, 2025.

Welshman Ncube's party is upset with the Speaker & Senate President for not recalling Tshabangu until court case is done. Tshabangu challenged his expulsion from the Senate due to indiscipline. Parliament's lawyers won't oppose his challenge. Ncube's party believes this is unfair because they were quick to act in the past. Tshabangu recalled MPs without evidence of them leaving the party. His fate will be decided by the court on March 17, 2025. Ncube's party is frustrated by the delay in Tshabangu's recall.

Welshman Ncube Hits Out At Mudenda And Chinomona For Blocking Tshabangu Recall

A faction of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) has called for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation, despite having over three years remaining in his second and final term, reports <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200038947/war-vets-give-ed-two-week-ultimatum">NewsDay</a>.
The faction’s leader, Andrease Mathibela, said at a press conference in Harare on Friday that they had consulted with Zimbabwean citizens, who agreed that Mnangagwa should step down. Said Mathibela:

Maybe our presser today is the last. We want to address the elephant in the room as quickly as possible. It may be in a week or two, the pressure will be on.
</blockquote>
Mathibela also said the association fully supported Geza, whom they had sent to the front, describing him as “our rabble-rouser.” He said:
<blockquote>
So obviously, the government is not serious about addressing the crisis (that) it has created itself.
So, when we look, as citizens of this country, when we look at any crisis, we ask: What is the root cause? Then we deal with the root cause.
I am here, on behalf of all veterans and members of the public, ordinary people. We were quiet, while all these other noise makers were trying to be relevant. Guess what? We were busy consulting.
Just like what we did during the liberation struggle. We were working with the masses. We were working with the chiefs.
We were working with the mass media, spirit mediums, I would say. And they have told us, that all veterans, you put your government there, sort it out.
</blockquote>
Mathibela asserted that the masses had expressed the need to hold the government they put in power accountable and demand that Mnangagwa step down. He said:
<blockquote>
That is the challenge they have given us. They say you put this government, you sort it out. And very true, we will definitely sort it out.
I am happy that the nation, at large, which is the suffocating victims of this crisis, has said ‘We will go with you veterans, every step of the way’.
They have told us, in no uncertain circumstances, that this time around, we must lead the onslaught, where the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe must step down immediately.
And we are in agreement. We have reasons which we can explain throughout the night, until the following morning.

Mathibela also dismissed the US$1.5 million and housing promises made to war veterans by Paul Tungwarara, an investment advisor to Mnangagwa.
He mocked these promises, referring to the houses as “Tungwararas,” and questioned why only war veterans were expected to benefit, while others who contributed to putting Mnangagwa in power were left out.

A group of war veterans wants the President of Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa, to step down. They say the people they talked to agree. The leader of the group says they need to address the problem quickly. The war veterans say they will work with the people to make sure the government is held accountable. They also don't believe promises made to them by an advisor to Mnangagwa. They think everyone who helped the President should benefit, not just war veterans. They want Mnangagwa to resign now.

War Veterans Association Faction Calls On Mnangagwa To Step Down

Judge President Justice Mary Zimba-Dube on Thursday ordered the CCC not to recall expelled self-imposed interim secretary-general Senator Sengezo Tshabangu from Parliament until his High Court application challenging his dismissal is heard.
Tshabangu approached the High Court seeking an order to prevent his recall, naming his party, the Speaker of Parliament, and the President of the Senate as the first, second, and third respondents, respectively.
In the interdict matter, Justice Zimba-Dube recorded an undertaking from the first respondent (CCC) not to recall Tshabangu or undermine case number HCH 830/25, which pertains to Tshabangu’s court case against his expulsion. The Speaker of Parliament’s lawyers acknowledged the order.
As reported by the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/judge-president-issues-interim-order-barring-tshabangus-recall-from-parliament/">Chronicle</a>, in the declaratory matter, the respondents must file their opposing papers by Tuesday, 4 March 2025, while the applicants must submit their answering affidavit and heads of argument by Monday, 10 March 2025.
The case is scheduled for a hearing on Thursday, 13 March 2025. Tshabangu has cited Sesel Zvidzai, Concillia Chinanzvavana, Gilbert Kadogora, Shepherd Mushonga, and the CCC as the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth respondents, respectively. These people were members of the disciplinary committee that expelled him.
This interim order ensures that Tshabangu will retain his parliamentary seat while his legal challenge progresses.

A judge said Senator Tshabangu can stay in Parliament while he fights his removal. Tshabangu asked the court to stop his party from recalling him. The court said the party cannot take him out until the case is heard. Tshabangu's case will be heard on March 13, 2025. His party and other people who kicked him out must respond by March 4. This order lets Tshabangu keep his seat while he fights to stay in Parliament.

Tshabangu Wins Temporary Court Ruling To Keep His Senatorial Seat

Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-proclaimed interim secretary general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has approached the High Court to prevent his recall from Parliament, reports <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/tshabangu-rushes-to-court-to-block-imminent-recall/">ZimLive</a>.
After taking control of the party following the August 2023 general elections, Tshabangu used his newfound authority to recall several MPs and councillors.
Nelson Chamisa eventually left CCC upon realising Tshabangu was in charge of the party with the support of State institutions.
Tshabangu was recently expelled from the party by Welshman Ncube and now faces the possibility of being removed from his Senate seat.
To prevent this, Tshabangu has filed an urgent chamber application against the CCC, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the President of the Senate.
In his application (case number HCH875/25), Tshabangu argues that his recall would be unlawful, citing an irregularly constituted disciplinary hearing held by the CCC on February 12.
He seeks an interdict to prevent the Speaker from declaring his seat vacant and a declaratory order affirming his continued tenure in Parliament.

Sengezo Tshabangu is fighting in court to stop his removal from Parliament by the Citizens Coalition for Change. He took over the party after the 2023 elections and recalled some members. Nelson Chamisa left CCC when he saw Tshabangu had control. Now, Tshabangu may lose his Senate seat. He filed a case to stop this and says the party's hearing against him was unfair. He wants the Speaker to keep his seat and declare he can stay in Parliament.

Tshabangu Seeks Court Order To Block Imminent Recall From Senate

Sengezo Tshabangu, a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) senator, has denied ever being a member of the faction led by Welshman Ncube.
Tshabangu said this following his dismissal from the party last week after a misconduct charge during a disciplinary hearing held by Ncube’s CCC faction.
He was expelled for making unilateral changes to the party’s leadership in Parliament.
Although Tshabangu attended the disciplinary hearing, he claims he did so under protest and insists that he has never been part of Ncube’s faction.
He also said he does not align with either of the two factions within CCC: CCC Blue, which supports former party leader Nelson Chamisa, and CCC Green, aligned with Ncube.
Tshabangu further argued that his position as a Senator is not connected to Ncube’s faction. He said according to the CCC’s constitution, the terms for the party’s leadership expired on May 27, 2024, leaving the party without a sitting president.
In a statement, Tshabangu’s spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, claimed that Tshabangu has never been a member of CCC Green or affiliated with its structures.
Mlilo also argued that Tshabangu was neither nominated nor deployed as a Senator by Ncube’s faction and has never attended any of its meetings.
Mlilo accused Ncube of trying to gain control of CCC’s financial resources under the Political Parties (Finance) Act.
According to The Standard, despite Tshabangu’s claims of being promised millions of dollars for taking control of the CCC, he has yet to receive any funds. 
The government has indicated that the disbursement of party funds will be delayed until the factions resolve their leadership dispute.

Sengezo Tshabangu, a member of the CCC party, denies being part of a group led by Welshman Ncube. He was kicked out of the party for changing leadership without permission. Tshabangu Denies Ties To "CCC Blue" And "CCC Green"

ZANU PF recently dismissed six members of its Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit, a group of internet trolls hired by the ruling party to target its opponents, reported <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/zanu-pf-fires-4-rogue-elements-from-social-media-unit/">ZimLive</a>.
Patrick Chinamasa, the party’s legal secretary, serves as the executive director of the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit.
In a letter dated February 11 to the party’s national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha, Chinamasa said that the six members were fired for attacking senior party officials. Wrote Chinamasa:

The resolutions included the permanent removal of Jonasi Mandiwisa Musara, Tafadzwa Mawire, Tinotenda Gachange, Felix Muzondo, Pardon Mangwende, and Herbert Mathe from the Varakashi4ED Social Media Unit.
Chinamasa informed Machacha that Norman Mbimbi would now serve as the administrator of Varakashi4ED, with Dereck Goto taking on the role of director of operations.
In the same letter, Chinamasa said the unit was established following President Mnangagwa’s directive “ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.”

ZANU PF fired six internet trolls for disrespecting senior party members. Chinamasa, the party's legal secretary, runs the group of trolls. They were fired for attacking leaders. Chinamasa Fires Six Varakashi For Denigrating Senior ZANU PF Officials

Sengezo Tshabangu, the self-proclaimed Interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has rejected his expulsion from the party, describing the disciplinary process as a “sham” and a “kangaroo court.”
Tshabangu’s expulsion was announced on Wednesday by the CCC, led by Welshman Ncube, following a disciplinary hearing held on February 12, 2025.
The hearing concluded that Tshabangu had violated the party’s constitution and shown disrespect toward its leadership.
CCC spokesperson Willias Madzimure confirmed that Tshabangu was found guilty on all four charges presented during the hearing.
However, Tshabangu’s camp swiftly dismissed the expulsion, claiming the process was flawed and lacked transparency.
His spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, told <a href="https://cite.org.zw/expelled-tshabangu-claims-ccc-disciplinary-hearing-was-a-sham-rejects-expulsion/">CITE</a> that the disciplinary hearing was illegitimate and questioned its fairness. He said:

This is a rather strange process. In any disciplinary hearing where the accused is found guilty, two things must happen: the disciplinary committee must deliver a reasoned judgment outlining the facts and legal basis of the decision, and the guilty party must be given an opportunity to present mitigating arguments before sentencing.

Mlilo argued that a prosecutor should then present arguments for a harsher sentence if warranted. He added:

Only after these steps does the disciplinary committee hand down a sentence in a reasoned judgment. It is certainly not done through a press statement.
Senator Tshabangu has not received a reasoned judgment. The standard processes of mitigation and aggravation of sentences did not take place and clearly will not.
When we say this disciplinary hearing was a sham and a kangaroo court, this is exactly what we mean.
Put simply, the statement made by Mr. Madzimure is not worth a yawn. Senator Tshabangu has better things to do with his time than to play marbles with argumentative busybodies.

Sengezo Tshabangu was kicked out of the CCC party, but he says it was unfair. He thinks the process was like a fake court. The party said he broke their rules and disrespected their leaders. Tshabangu's team says the whole thing was not right and lacked fairness. They say he didn't get a fair trial or a chance to defend himself properly. Tshabangu's people do not agree with the punishment and think the whole thing was a joke. The party disagrees, but Tshabangu says it was not fair at all.

Tshabangu Rejects Expulsion From CCC By A "Kangaroo Court"

Roseline Ndaizivei Tawengwa, the wife of outspoken war veteran and ZANU PF Central Committee member Blessed Runesu Geza was taken in for questioning by police officers from her Norton home on Thursday evening. She was later released.
Her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, expressed surprise at the police’s actions, particularly given that they had failed to inform her about the arrest in advance, despite prior agreement to have legal representation present during any questioning.
In a letter dated February 19, 2024, addressed to The Officer in Charge of CID Law and Order at Harare Central Police Station, Mtetwa revealed that police officers had previously visited Geza’s home on the 17th and 18th of February. During these visits, they had spoken with Roseline’s sister. Wrote Mtetwa:

We address you at the instance of our above-mentioned client whom we understand you visited at her home on 17th and 18th February 2025. Please note our interest going forward and make all your requests through ourselves.
We are instructed that you attended at our client’s premises on the 17th of February 2025 and spoke to our client’s sister who advised that our client was not home.
Your team of four details returned to her house on 18th February 2025 and spoke with our client. Various questions were posed to her which she answered. 
The questions posed related to her relationship with MR BLESSED RUNESU GEZA, whether she knew his whereabouts, when she had last seen him, what his phone number is and how she generally communicates with him.
Our client believes that she answered your team’s questions to the best of her ability and she was surprised to receive a call today from your DETECTIVE INSPECTOR CHIOTA directing that she report to the Law &amp; Order Section at 10.00hrs today.
When she enquired why she was required at Law &amp; Order Section, she was advised that there are some questions she did not answer to your team’s satisfaction.
We are instructed that at no time did you advise our client of the reasons for your enquiries with the result that she does not know whether she is a suspect, a potential witness, what crime you are investigating, against whom, etc.
Consequently, she is not comfortable with your request that she attend at Law &amp; Order without any explanation as to the reasons for this interference with her day-to-day liberties.
</blockquote>
Mtetwa demanded clarification from the police regarding whether Tawengwa was a suspect, the nature of any investigation they were conducting, and whether she might be a potential witness, and if so, against whom and for what offence.
Despite Mtetwa’s inquiries on February 19, the police proceeded to detain Tawengwa on Thursday, February 20 and took her to Harare Central Police Station for questioning.
Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono said that during her interrogation, Tawengwa was asked not only about the whereabouts of her husband, Geza, but also about his phone number, before she was eventually released.
Geza, a former CIO officer, has been in hiding since he publicly called for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation, accusing him of corruption, incompetence, nepotism, and cronyism.
Police are searching for Geza, who faces four criminal charges, including incitement to public violence and insulting the President.
Geza is charged with two counts of undermining the authority of or insulting the President under Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, as well as theft under Section 113 of the same law.

Geza's wife, Roseline, was questioned by the police about her husband's whereabouts. Her lawyer was surprised by this and demanded clarification. Despite this, she was still taken in for questioning and later released. Geza, a former CIO officer, has been hiding because he criticized President Mnangagwa. He faces criminal charges and the police are looking for him. Roseline was asked about her husband's phone number during questioning. Geza is accused of insulting the President and theft. The police are still investigating the matter.

Police Detain Geza's Wife For Questioning

The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has expelled self-styled interim secretary-general and senator Sengezo Tshabangu, who now faces a potential recall from the Senate.
Tshabangu appeared before the party’s National Disciplinary Committee on February 12, 2025, where he was charged with four counts of misconduct relating to his actions between November and December 2024.
According to a statement from CCC spokesperson Willias Madzimure issued on Wednesday, 19 February, the charges stemmed from Tshabangu’s decision to unilaterally alter the party’s Parliamentary Portfolio without the approval of the President or any other authorized organ of the party.
In addition, Tshabangu was accused of making derogatory public remarks about acting president Welshman Ncube after he had already been suspended from the party.
Madzimure said Tshabangu’s actions violated Clause 9.1.2.3 of the CCC Constitution, which outlines the party’s rules and regulations.
He further condemned Tshabangu’s behaviour, stating that it had damaged the party’s reputation and shown a “brazen defiance” of the authority of Ncube, as well as other key party organs, including the National Standing Committee, National Executive Committee, and National Council.
Tshabangu, who was represented by party legislator and lawyer Kucaca Phulu during the hearing, was found guilty on all four charges. Said Madzimure:

Having found Sengezo Tshabangu guilty of all the charges, and having regard to the gravity of the acts of misconduct of which the Committee convicted him, the Committee decided to sentence him to expulsion from the party with immediate effect.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) kicked out Sengezo Tshabangu for his bad behavior. Tshabangu changed party things without permission and said mean things about the leader. The party didn't like this and said he broke the party's rules. Tshabangu was then thrown out of the party. The party was not happy with what he did because it made the party look bad and he didn't listen to the leader. Tshabangu was found guilty and now he is no longer part of the party.

Welshman Ncube Expels Tshabangu From CCC Over Misconduct

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reaffirmed his commitment to retire after completing his second term in 2028.
During an interactive meeting with selected editors from both public and private media at State House on Monday, 17 February, Mnangagwa criticized individuals pushing agendas that contradict ZANU PF’s rules, saying they are not genuine party members. Said Mnangagwa:

I am a constitutionalist. When my two terms come to an end, the country and the party will move on by electing my successor.
That is as clear as day. I think those who really are ZANU PF at heart, go by the rules… of ZANU PF.
We have other people who are in ZANU PF who, in themselves, are not ZANU PF but they dress in ZANU PF regalia.
So you must always see when people talk, which camp they belong to when they open their mouths.

When one of the editors asked if he could be persuaded to serve beyond 2028, Mnangagwa responded, “I will persuade the persuaders not to persuade me, so that I remain a constitutionalist.”
Aside from the question of a potential third term, Mnangagwa told the editors that he was aware of the complex and challenging environment in which the media industry operates, noting the rapid evolution of various factors, including technology. He said:

Not least among these is a seismic shift in reader/viewer/listener interest and behaviour. Much of it is caused, motivated, or aided by giant technological changes and possibilities.
The old media is dead and with it, old models and ways of doing your craft. We feel the impact and repercussions of these changes of technologies even in our own sphere of Government which is supposed to be stable and traditionally change-averse.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa said he will step down after his second term in 2028. He talked to editors and criticized people in his party who don't follow the rules. He made it clear that he will not stay in power past 2028, even if people try to convince him to. Mnangagwa wants the party to follow the rules and choose his successor when the time comes. He said he will not let anyone persuade him to stay longer than he should.

Mnangagwa: No Persuasion Will Keep Me In Office Beyond 2028

Wicknell Chivayo has weighed in on the recent proposal in the USA to allow President Donald Trump to serve a third term.
He argued that exceptional leadership should be allowed to extend beyond term limits if it serves the best interests of the people.
In a post on his social media, Chivayo drew a parallel to Zimbabwe, where he believes President Emmerson Mnangagwa has shown remarkable leadership.
He called for the possibility of extending Mnangagwa’s presidency, arguing that such a move would align with the will of the people.
Chivayo said that, in a functioning democracy, the pursuit of progress should take precedence over rigid constitutional constraints.
He further stated that he doesn’t mind if critics claim he supports an extension of Mnangagwa’s presidency for personal gain, asserting that he is willing to speak out on the issue regardless of any perceived self-interest. Said Chivayo:

I personally believe that PROGRESS must take precedence over PROCEDURAL CONSTRAINTS created by a Constitution.
Most will say I’m singing for my supper and yes indeed, without a shadow of a doubt, I will also sing for breakfast and lunch too.

Chivayo stressed the importance of policy continuity, pointing to leadership changes in the U.S. that have caused inconsistencies, and argued for a similar approach in Zimbabwe to ensure stability and foster economic growth. He said:

In my view, a performing President like PRESIDENT E.D. must be allowed to COMPLETE his vision for the nation. The WILL OF THE PEOPLE should always be at the core of democracy.
As we have seen in the U.S.A, policy inconsistencies caused by frequent leadership changes DISRUPT national progress.
For example, most of former President Biden’s policies implemented since 2020 and the recent banning of TikTok and were all SWIFTLY undone by President Trump on his first day in office, despite there being a Supreme Court order banning TikTok in USA.
By contrast, Zimbabwe is a CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY and even the President abides with Court judgments.
We cannot however afford policy INCONSISTENCIES, such as what is being experienced in the USA, especially considering PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA’s strong foundation for ECONOMIC GROWTH and stability.
Extending his leadership will certainly ensure CONSISTENCY and CONTINUITY, which are critical for achieving Zimbabwe’s long-term goals and VISION 2030 !!!!

Chivayo argued that the constitution should evolve to reflect the will of the people, and although President Mnangagwa has pledged not to seek a third term, Chivayo believes his leadership deserves an extension for the benefit of the nation and the success of Vision 2030. He wrote:

The CONSTITUTION is a LIVING DOCUMENT, made BY THE PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE. I believe that it must evolve to reflect the aspirations of the majority.
As a CONSTITUTIONALIST, President Mnangagwa is on record indicating that he will NOT run for a third term.
However, the PRESIDENT has earned the trust of the people, who recognize his EXCEPTIONAL leadership and the progress achieved under the SECOND REPUBLIC.
With the GRACE OF GOD an extension of time in office for this WONDERFUL LEADER will certainly benefit the nation and ensure the success of Vision 2030 and beyond.

Chivayo has faced criticism from his detractors, who often label him a “tenderpreneur” — a term used to describe individuals who secure government contracts through political connections rather than fair competition.
 His critics allege that his success is more about political ties than business acumen.
Chivayo made inflammatory statements in leaked audio recordings, where he claimed to have a strong influence over President Mnangagwa and the political system.
In one recording, he allegedly boasted about being the president’s “blue-eyed boy” and suggested that his lucrative contracts were a result of his close relationship with Mnangagwa.
“Ndakachibata kuti dzvii,” he reportedly said, implying that the President is under his control.

Wicknell Chivayo thinks President Mnangagwa is doing a great job in Zimbabwe and should be allowed to stay in power longer for consistency and progress. He believes the constitution should change to reflect what the people want. Chivayo has faced criticism for his close ties to the president and leaked recordings that suggest he influences political decisions. Despite this, he still supports extending Mnangagwa's term for the benefit of the country's future.

Chivayo: Extending Mnangagwa's Term Will Ensure Consistency And Continuity

The controversial war veteran and ZANU PF Central Committee member Blessed Runesu Geza has refuted rumours that he has been arrested or gone into hiding.
In a message to HStv, Geza asserted that war veterans are prepared to drive change in the country and announced that he will soon hold a press conference to provide further clarification. He said:

We are ready to bring change and no amount of threats and lies will derail the struggle. The signal is coming.
</blockquote>
Geza gained public attention several weeks ago when he openly criticised ZANU PF’s proposed constitutional amendment that would allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028, after his second and final term ends.
Geza and his supporters have not only opposed the prospect of a third Mnangagwa term but have also demanded the President’s immediate resignation, accusing him of incompetence, corruption, nepotism, and cronyism.
However, Geza’s outspoken stance has drawn the ire of the state. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has filed criminal charges against him.
Last Wednesday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi issued a statement saying that Geza was wanted for questioning in connection with four separate criminal charges.
Geza faces allegations of theft under Section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9: 23), related to the alleged theft and sale of three vehicles belonging to a complainant without consent.
He is also being charged with two counts of “Undermining the Authority of or Insulting the President” under Section 33 (2) (a) (ii) of the same Act.
Lastly, Geza faces a charge of “Incitement to Commit Public Violence” under Section 187 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9: 23).
Nyathi further warned that anyone assisting Geza in evading police questioning would face arrest and prosecution.
Critics have raised concerns over the timing of the theft charges, suggesting that they could be politically motivated.
Some argue that Geza is being persecuted for challenging Mnangagwa, while others speculate that if the charges are genuine, then it proves that rogues and criminals are protected as long as they toe the party line.

Geza, a war veteran, says he is not arrested or hiding. He criticizes President Mnangagwa and demands his resignation. Police charge him with theft, insulting the President, and incitement to violence. People who help him will also be arrested. Some think the charges are political. They believe Geza is targeted for speaking out against the President. Others say criminals are protected as long as they support the ruling party. "Bombshell" Geza Refutes Claims Of Arrest Or Hiding

Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti has dismissed claims made by ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, who alleged that Biti had been meeting with American diplomats in South Africa to “whip up emotions about title deeds and land in Zimbabwe” in an attempt to catch the attention of US President Donald Trump.
Speaking to the media at the ZANU PF headquarters in Harare on Thursday, Mutsvangwa claimed that Biti had met with US embassy officials in South Africa on Wednesday.
In response, Biti labelled Mutsvangwa’s accusations as blatant falsehoods and gross misrepresentations. Said Biti:

The beleaguered faction-ridden desperate vacuous rag-tag liberation movement now resorts to blatant falsehoods and gross misrepresentations.
We need to remind it that it has failed and failed in absolute terms. That its agenda to amend the constitution will fail. Indeed its attempt to privatize agricultural land acquired during the land reform program is a blatant neo-liberal reversal of the land reform program.
That its hubristic extractive economic policies have reduced this country to a little tin pot, fast food economy, with millions wallowing in poverty and the vagaries of the informal economy.
Truth is ZANU PF has reached the end of its tether. It is slowly withering away mired in self-defeating contradictions and heresies. At the centre of the division is the corruption and greed of the so-called 2nd Republic.

Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti said he did not meet with US diplomats in South Africa, as claimed by ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa. Mutsvangwa said that Biti was trying to get the attention of US President Donald Trump by discussing land issues in Zimbabwe. Biti called Mutsvangwa's accusations false and said that ZANU PF is failing. He also criticized ZANU PF's economic policies and corruption. Biti believes that ZANU PF is falling apart due to corruption and greed.

Biti Denies Mutsvangwa’s Allegations Of Secret Meetings With US Diplomats

ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa denied claims of factionalism within the party on Thursday, saying that war veteran Blessed Runesu Geza, also known as Bombshell, is being used to further a specific agenda, reported <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/mutsvangwa-avoids-tackling-zanu-pf-factionalism-head-on-claims-vocal-geza-being-used/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>.
There is a widespread belief that ZANU PF is currently divided, with one faction pushing for the postponement of the 2028 general elections to allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in power until 2030, while another faction, reportedly backing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, supports adherence to the constitutionally mandated two-term limit.
Neither Mnangagwa nor Chiwenga has publicly acknowledged these emerging factions.
Factional tensions became evident recently when two groups of ZANU PF supporters were heard chanting pro-Mnangagwa and pro-Chiwenga songs at the Heroes Acre.
Geza, along with some war veterans, has publicly called for Mnangagwa to step down, accusing him of cronyism, corruption, and nepotism.
At a media briefing at the ZANU PF headquarters on Thursday, Mutsvangwa dismissed Geza’s stance, claiming that he was being misled by “fools.” He said:

I have a lot of angst about the way he is being used by people who have a certain agenda. Comrade Geza, I do not know what other issues might be bothering you, but we, the war veterans, always remember… I wish he would not follow fools who are misleading him. I am deeply concerned about what is happening with him.

Mnangagwa’s term is set to end in 2028, and he has repeatedly stated that he will not seek another term. However, critics remain sceptical, as current developments suggest the opposite.

ZANU PF spokesperson Mutsvangwa says war veteran Geza is being misled by people with their own agenda in the party. Some believe there are factions in ZANU PF, one supporting Mnangagwa staying in power beyond 2028, while another supports following the term limits. Mutsvangwa denies factionalism in the party. Geza and some war veterans want Mnangagwa to step down, but Mutsvangwa says Geza is being misled. Mnangagwa has said he won't seek another term after 2028, but some are unsure.

Mutsvangwa: War Veteran Bombshell Geza Being Misled By "Fools"

CCC’s disputed interim Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, has vowed to address what he describes as the “invisible hand” behind the discord within his party.
As reported by <a href="https://bulawayo24.com/index-id-news-sc-national-byo-250533.html">Bulawayo24</a>, Tshabangu attended a disciplinary hearing chaired by a three-person panel: Senator Sesel Zvidzai, Hon. Concilia Chinanzvavana, and Gilbert Kagodora.
Mushonga served as the Arbiter General, while Kucaca Phulu, representing Tshabangu and instructed by Mabikwa Attorneys, appeared on his behalf.
At the start of the hearing, Tshabangu raised concerns that he had not been provided with a copy of the charge sheet detailing the allegations against him, nor was he informed of the specific provisions of the party constitution under which the charges were brought.
In a statement issued through his spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, Tshabangu alleged that someone was remotely influencing the panel, preventing it from operating independently.
He further claimed the panel appeared to be taking instructions from an unidentified figure yet to be revealed. He said:

At every turn in the hearing, and when a ruling was to be made, the panel repeatedly made telephone calls to someone who gave instructions as to how the panel should rule on each point.
On this issue, Senator Tshabangu has given instructions to his Attorneys to subpoena the telephone records of the purported Disciplinary Committee members to establish the identity of the person the panel members repeatedly obtained instructions from.

Tshabangu claimed that the lines of communication for resolving what seemed like legitimate differences between the parties have now been irreparably broken, making reconciliation impossible.
He also pledged to bring order to CCC’s parliamentary and local government caucuses. Said Tshabangu:

In the next few moments, action will be taken in decisive terms to bring much-needed stability and cohesion to the party, more so, in the Party Parliamentary Caucus and Local Government Caucus.
The historic work which this 10th Parliament has to, and is about to take in the national interest requires the highest form of cohesion that no moment will lost in frivolity and trivialities.
The Parliamentary Caucus and the Local Government Caucuses, as the only remaining legally valid Article 6 party organs should work in the most efficient and effective manner possible. All tools will be deployed to ensure that this happens. Senator Tshabangu says there shall be discipline.
The general membership of the party is assured that stability will be restored, the needful done, and soon, there will be no unknown knowns.

Tshabangu Claims Disciplinary Panel Is Controlled By "Invisible Hand"

ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans, Douglas Mahiya, warned war veterans opposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s extended rule that they could be silenced indefinitely, reported <a href="https://cite.org.zw/mahiya-threatens-to-silence-war-veterans-opposing-mnangagwas-extended-stay-in-office/">CITE</a>.
His remarks were aimed at Blessed Runesu Geza and other veterans critical of Mnangagwa’s leadership, citing issues like corruption and cronyism.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a manhunt for Geza, who faces criminal charges, including theft, undermining the authority of the President and incitement to violence.
Mahiya also claimed that had Mnangagwa been less principled, ZANU PF could have declared a state of emergency to extend his rule, citing the sanctions imposed on the country as akin to a declaration of war by Western powers.
Mahiya made comments during the launch of a War Veterans Fund and empowerment programme in Bulawayo on Saturday. Said Mahiya:

We were sanctioned by the West. That’s a sign that we are in a war. When a country has sanctions, when people are in a war, they can stop going for elections because they are in a war and declare a state of emergency.
Mnangagwa is a proper, listening, educated leader, but if the country was under someone else, we could have declared that ‘we are in a state of emergency and there are no elections.’ Then we would remove Mnangagwa from power only if he died…
The leadership we want is not one of a person who is highly educated or who has a character that we don’t know.
We want a leader who has a character and hunhu that we know, and that has been shown by Mnangagwa in the period that he has been running the country. He can extend his term so that the population can benefit.
So if you refuse, we have the right, although forbidden by the law, to act otherwise to stop you indefinitely from saying such things.

Mahiya warned war veterans not to believe that their participation in the liberation struggle grants them the authority to oppose plans to extend Mnangagwa’s term, especially when the majority support it. He said:

It doesn’t give you power, if you do not follow what people want, your going to Zambia and being a war veteran will be useless. You won’t have standing because you are ganging against the people.
I don’t expect, as the secretary of war veterans, to hear any other war veteran say the opposite because the party’s constitution says our duty as the league is to protect the interests of the party and its leadership, which is the resolution that was made here in Bulawayo. That is the interest of the party, and we also protect the leadership.

A resolution from the ZANU PF National People’s Conference in Bulawayo last year called for amending the Constitution to extend Mnangagwa’s second and final term until 2030.

War veteran Douglas Mahiya warned other veterans who don't want President Mnangagwa to stay in power longer. He said they could be silenced forever. Mahiya is mad at Blessed Geza and others who criticize Mnangagwa for being corrupt and having too many friends in power. The police are looking for Geza because of criminal charges. Mahiya thinks the country is at war because of sanctions. He said if Mnangagwa wasn't a good leader, they could have declared a state of emergency to keep him in power. Mahiya warned war veterans not to go against the majority who want Mnangagwa to stay until 2030.

Mahiya: War Veterans Opposing "ED 2030" Will Be Silenced Forever

High Court judge Justice Nevile Wamambo dismissed Welshman Ncube’s application for the immediate enforcement of a previous High Court ruling that prohibited Sengezo Tshabangu from unilaterally reshuffling CCC’s parliamentary leadership.
Last month, the High Court issued a ruling preventing Tshabangu from making changes to the party’s parliamentary leadership, but Tshabangu appealed the decision at the Supreme Court.
In response, the Ncube faction requested permission from the High Court to enforce the judgment while the appeal was still pending.
However, in a ruling delivered this week, Justice Wamambo rejected the Ncube faction’s application. He said:

After reading documents filed of record and hearing counsel, it is ordered that the application be and is hereby dismissed with applicant (Prof Ncube) paying costs to the first (Sen Tshabangu) and third (Mlotshwa) respondents.

Meanwhile, Ncube has called for a disciplinary hearing with Tshabangu, scheduled for tomorrow.
Tshabangu is facing accusations of making unilateral appointments and reassignments of CCC members in Parliament, moves the Ncube camp argues were unauthorised and illegal.

The High Court said no to Welshman Ncube's request about CCC's parliamentary leadership changes. Last month, the court said Tshabangu can't change leaders, but he appealed. Ncube wanted the ruling enforced early, but the court said no. Now there's a hearing about Tshabangu's actions. Some say he made illegal moves in Parliament. The court said Ncube has to pay costs for the request.

Workers at Blessed Runesu Geza’s farm in Sanyati on Monday apprehended a 19-year-old man, suspected of spying after he was caught taking pictures of their boss’ farmhouse.
The young man, who identified himself as Nigel Murwira, was swiftly handed over to the police in Sanyati for further questioning.
At the time of the incident, Geza, a war veteran and ZANU PF central committee member was not present at the farm.
However, farm manager Isaiah Lozane told <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200038157/man-caught-spying-at-gezas-farm">NewsDay</a> that their suspicions were aroused when they noticed a car with South African registration plates dropping off the young man near the property. Said Lozane:

He started shooting pictures of the main house, and that’s when we confronted him. The young man gave incoherent answers about his mission.
At first, he claimed he was looking for employment as a general labourer but after interrogation he said he had been sent by people he was not at liberty to name to take pictures of the farm structures and get US$200 as payment.

The suspected spy reportedly attempted to flee during interrogation and was injured while climbing the perimeter fence. Added Lozane:

He later claimed that he had been picked up at Patchway along Kadoma-Sanyati Road by unidentified men to Geza’s farm where his mission was to take pictures in return for $200.
He told me that along the way the men in the Honda Fit were being directed by someone on the phone because none of us knew where the farm was.

The men in the Honda Fit, realising that Murwira was under arrest, sped off in a hurry, disappearing into the distance.
Meanwhile, Geza, the former Sanyati legislator, finds himself at the centre of a political storm. He has been clashing with powerful figures within his own party who are pushing for an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term until 2030.
Geza, a staunch war veteran, is leading a faction that opposes the term extension, while Mnangagwa’s loyalists have been rallying against him, calling for his expulsion from the party and even arrest.

Workers at Geza's farm caught a young man named Nigel taking pictures of their boss' farmhouse. They handed him over to the police. Nigel said he was sent to take pictures of the farm and get paid $200. He was picked up by some men in a car with South African plates. The men in the car ran away when Nigel was caught. Geza, a war veteran, is having problems in his political party because he is against extending the President's term. This incident has created more trouble for him.

Outspoken war veteran Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has issued a stern warning to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba, urging him not to shoot any Zimbabwean exercising their democratic right to demonstrate.
In an interview with HStv, Geza said that no one should be arrested for protesting and declared that war veterans would take action if the police resorted to such measures.
He stressed that the right to demonstrate is sacred, pointing out that countless Zimbabweans shed their blood and gave their lives to secure this fundamental freedom. Said Geza (via <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/dont-shoot-demonstrators-bombshell-geza-warns-police-chief/">The Mirror</a>):

Be warned (Mutamba); if we hear there is anyone arrested for the enjoyment of his/her constitutional rights, you will see it. We will deal with you. Don’t be used by anybody on the basis of your relationship or nepotism. I want to warn members of the security forces, in particular the Police.

Geza also spoke out against the many roadblocks on Zimbabwe’s roads, warning Commissioner General Mutamba not to turn the country into a police state.
Geza is part of a group of war veterans who have openly opposed ZANU PF’s plans to change the Constitution and delay the 2028 elections, which would allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to stay in office until 2030.

Blessed Geza, a war veteran, warned the police chief not to arrest or shoot peaceful protesters in Zimbabwe. He said protesters have the right to demonstrate, and the war veterans will take action if police use force. Geza also criticized too many roadblocks in the country and warned against turning Zimbabwe into a police state. He is against changing the Constitution to delay elections and keep President Mnangagwa in power. Geza wants everyone to respect people's rights and not abuse their power.

Geza Says War Veterans Will Respond If Police Use Force On Peaceful Demonstrators

National Democratic Working Group chairman Job Sikhala, a well-known political and civil society activist, has spoken out about his arrest on Saturday in Penhalonga, Manicaland, alongside 40 fellow activists.
According to Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), Sikhala and his group were charged under Section 7(1)(b) of the Maintenance of Public Order Act, which pertains to holding a public gathering without notifying the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
In a statement posted on X early Sunday morning, Sikhala revealed that he was released that same night along with 39 others, but their chief national organiser, Joelson Mugari, remained in custody. Wrote Sikhala:

I have been released with 39 other leaders from different constituent groups who constitute the National Democratic Working Group(NDWG) national leadership.NDWG is a social justice movement whose objective is to engage citizens in a consultative process about their country. It is not a political party. The 8th of February 2025 was a calendar date for its leadership meetings that happens after every 3 months.
The meeting was purely an executive meeting to deliberate on the progress made on the consultative process that is happening throughout the country. The meeting was at the Beat of the Forest Resort in Penhalonga.
Initially, a Toyota Hilux double cab with dark windows arrived with 5 members of the CIO led by Muvhangeri, whose home area is Buhera. They arrived &amp; parked at the premises &amp; engaged with the NDWG Chief National Organiser Democrat Engineer Joelson Mugari.
After some around 5 minutes they left. A few minutes later, another vehicle a Toyota Hilux without number plates arrived with members of the Police Intelligence (PI) formerly PISI &amp; members of the CID Law &amp; Order led by Ngweme. They were dropped &amp; left, &amp; again, Engineer Joelson Mugari engaged them to seek their mission. While he was engaging them, 3 truckloads of riot Police &amp; AK47 wielding police officers descended on the venue led by a plain clothed officer called Shonhiwa.
Shonhiwa stormed into the venue &amp; screamed, “Beat &amp; catch everyone here. Rush &amp; close that other exit entrance.” The AK47 wielding &amp; baton stick holding police officers started assaulting some members and kickedthem around.
I remained calm seated on the couch next to Dr Wurayayi Zembe. Then, the other AK47 wielding police officer pointed his gun at Dr. Zembe screaming, “I am going to shoot you.” Dr Zembe remained calm and watched the drama. This happened right next to me.
After some minute or so, Engineer Joelson Mugari called me to tell me that the Officer Commanding wants to talk to me. I went at the eastern entrance where he was standing at the door. I stretched my hand to greet him so as to hear his story. He arrogantly tucked his hands into his pockets and said, “Don’t greet me. Ndakarombaka ini. Ko mhepo dzangu dzikazokubata?” He then talked to Dr. Zembe and Dr. Zembe told him that he knows his village in Gutu and where he comes from.
He then belowed to me, “I have invited you to tell you the charge you and these people are facing. We are charging you for contravening Section 7 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act(MOPA) for having this gathering without police authority. I felt a laugh in myself on how 41 people could have been said to have contravened that section when it does not say so.
Secondly, MOPA does not sanction the notification of executive meetings. It’s like ZANU PF seeking police clearance to hold its Politbro meetings. The law only talks of holding public meetings, processions or demonstrations on public places. The meeting we held was in a bush at Beats of Forest and wondered how it turns to be a public place. Secondly, they are mistaking the National Democratic Working Group(NDWG), to be a political party which it is not.
We were then commandeered to get into waiting pick up trucks under heavy and torrential rains. Mutare was heavily raining today. Rains pounded on us from Beats of Forest to Penhalonga Police station around 12 noon. We all got wet that we looked like ramshackles when we finally arrived at Penhalonga Police Station which was a distance.
All our phones were switched off and we were asked to sit down on some dirty floor. Recording of each individual’s details took about 3 hours. We were suddenly told that we are no longer handling your case and you must be taken to Mutare Central CID Law and Order. At the CID Law and Order we were not asked to plead to any charge but they took Engineer Joelson Mugari, Dr. Wurayayi Zembe, Nyabeze and myself for interviews. To be continued……..

Job Sikhala was arrested with 40 other activists for having a meeting without telling the police in Penhalonga, Manicaland. He was released on the same night, but one person remained in custody. The meeting was just to talk about the progress of their work, not to cause any trouble. The police came and started hitting people with batons and guns. Sikhala thought it was funny that they were charged for breaking a law that they didn't actually break. They were taken to the police station in the rain, had their phones taken away, and were moved to Mutare Central CID Law and Order for more questioning.

Job Sikhala, the leader of the National Democratic Working Group, along with 38 other people, was arrested in Nyanga, Manicaland Province, on Saturday, 8 February.
The group was detained for allegedly holding a meeting without notifying the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), as required by law.
The former Zengeza West legislator and the others were charged under Section 7(1)(b) of the Maintenance of Public Order Act.
They are being represented by lawyers from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.
Section 7(1)(b) of the Maintenance of Public Order Act requires that the convener of a public meeting must provide written notice to the regulating authority for the district in which the public meeting is to be held no later than five days before the meeting. The notice must be signed by the convener.
However, if the convener is unable to write the notice, the regulating authority may do so upon request. During an election period, the notice period is reduced to three days.

Job Sikhala and 38 other people were arrested for having a meeting without telling the police in Nyanga. They are charged under a law that says you have to tell the police about a meeting at least five days before. If it's during an election, you only have to tell them three days before. They have lawyers helping them from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

ZANU PF Politburo member Ziyambi Ziyambi has said that President Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga are united and working together, and there is no factionalism within the party.
Speaking at the party’s Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Chinhoyi on Wednesday, Ziyambi asserted that claims of factional fights within the party are false. He said (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/no-feud-between-president-vp/">The Herald</a>):

We now have a clique of people who are fanning divisions within our party, claiming to be representing and speaking on behalf of our leaders President Mnangagwa and his deputies.
There is no division between President Mnangagwa and Vice President Chiwenga and claims that there are factional fights within the party are false.
I am a Politburo member who has never seen Vice President Chiwenga disobey and denigrate his superior. This should be a shining example for all of us.
When Vice President Chiwenga joined Cabinet, he taught me a lot about politics, and the main thing he taught me was to be loyal and respectful.
I have never heard President Mnangagwa say he despises his deputy or Vice President Chiwenga. Who are you (Geza) to claim that there is bad blood between the two?

Blessed Geza, also known as “Bombshell,” is a ZANU PF Central Committee member and war veteran.
He has been a vocal critic of Mnangagwa, particularly opposing the push to extend Mnangagwa’s term beyond the constitutional limits.
Geza has called for Mnangagwa’s resignation, accusing him of failing to deliver on his promises and engaging in nepotism and corruption.
He is now facing potential expulsion from ZANU PF for his outspoken stance.

Chiwenga Loyal To Mnangagwa, No Factionalism In ZANU PF, Says Ziyambi

The ZANU PF Masvingo provincial executive has suspended Gutu East Member of Parliament Benjamin Ganyiwa and Chiredzi North Member of Parliament Roy Bhila for allegedly causing divisions within the party and damaging its reputation.
Bhila serves as the party’s provincial Secretary for Finance, while Ganyiwa holds the position of provincial Secretary for Business Development.
Ganyiwa faces four charges, including holding a meeting at his homestead without notifying district and provincial party structures, an action considered disloyal by the party.
Ganyiwa is also accused of promoting factionalism by inviting members from other constituencies to the meeting.
The party’s provincial chairman, Robson Mavhenyengwa, said both Ganyiwa and Bhila have been issued prohibition orders and are barred from conducting any party business until their cases are reviewed by the National Disciplinary Committee.
Their matter has now been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee, chaired by Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, the national chairperson. Mavhenyengwa said:

No one is bigger than the party, the disciplinary process will be followed through, regardless of one’s position within the party.

The suspensions of Bhila and Ganyiwa are believed to be linked to internal ZANU PF leadership conflicts regarding a proposal to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s second term by two years, beyond the constitutional limits to 2030.
This proposal has faced opposition within ZANU PF, with some members rallying around Deputy President Constantino Chiwenga, who also opposes plans to amend the constitution.
Bhila was removed from his position as Deputy Industry and Commerce Minister by Mnangagwa in November 2023.
