Controversial South African preacher Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng has announced that he will move his church from its Katlehong location, finally obeying what he claims is God’s instruction dating back to 2019.
This decision follows the destruction of the Incredible Happenings Ministries structure in August after Motsoeneng was arrested.
He, along with his son Revival and bodyguard Clement Baloyi, faces at least six charges, including kidnapping, related to an incident at Matsediso Primary School on 5 August, where they allegedly abducted two minors.
A viral video showed the three men armed with machetes and a replica assault rifle as they forcibly took the children.
Although released on bail, Mboro’s conditions permit him to continue his work as a church leader and engage in community projects.
Addressing his congregation on Sunday, Motsoeneng said he is finally heeding God’s instruction to leave the Katlehong stand. He said (via <a href="https://www.citizen.co.za/news/mboro-to-move-katlehong-church/">Citizen</a>):

I said a week before they burnt the tent that God wanted me to leave this place and if I didn’t leave, they will destroy it, and it happened as God warned me. I need to go and touch people all over South Africa.
We are leaving this place of shame. I am moving today. It’s finally dawned for me. The church is gone, and the premises, sound system, and extra tents are gone. The 100-metre tent is gone and that’s not peanuts.
I am a church. God does not only dwell in the buildings but in me as a church. We’re using this rented tent and for my status as Ntate Mboro, it doesn’t suit me, it’s garbage, it’s lowlife, for the quality of the people here too, and my mother is also not impressed with this tent.
Every time I come here, I’m hanging onto something that’s gone. So, we have to leave and be in a decent place where we will need to start over.

He said his congregants are currently in discussions about the church’s new location. The final service at the current site is scheduled for 8 December.

Motsoeneng Moves Church "In Obedience To God’s Will"

A United Methodist Church preacher in Zimbabwe tragically collapsed and died while delivering a sermon in Harare on Tuesday evening.
Norest Nyakudanga, 66, an evangelist from the Seke South Circuit, collapsed just five minutes into his sermon at Chisipiti United Methodist Church. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
His passing was confirmed in a Facebook post by a church member, which was subsequently shared by the Seke South Circuit. It reads:

Treasured Seke South Circuit of the United Methodist Church evangelist Baba Norest Nyakudanga is no more.
Nyakudanga was preaching this evening at Chisipiti United Methodist Church when he collapsed five minutes into his sermon and later on died at a local hospital.
Nyakudanga was a prayer warrior of repute who transformed lives through his sermons.
He belonged to a special class of men, who became full members of the Mubvuwi WeUnited Methodist Church organisation as a youth.
He was also the chairperson of the Greater Mutoko MUMC Choir which was established this year.

Nyakudanga will be laid to rest on Sunday at his rural home in Mutoko. A service was held on Wednesday evening at his home in Zengeza, Chitungwiza.
Another service will be held on Friday at his circuit, with his body lying in state briefly at his home beforehand.
The body will return to Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour to lie in state overnight, before being transported to Mutoko on Saturday afternoon for the burial on Sunday.
Nyakudanga is survived by his wife, Taurai Chinyani, and three daughters, Mazvita, Nomusa, and Nyaradzo.

Methodist Preacher Collapses And Dies Five Minutes Into His Sermon

Controversial South African cleric Pastor Mboro, whose real name is Paseka Motsoeneng, has released a new song titled “Ngiyaba Slicer,” just days after spending 40 days in prison.
Motsoeneng was last month released on R3 000 bail while his co-accused, while his co-accused, his bodyguard Vincent Baloyi, was released on a warning. Both are scheduled to return to court on October 21.
On Sunday, a video of the pastor singing went viral on social media, surprising many with his newfound musical interest.
In the song, Motsoeneng asserts that no matter how many adversaries he faces, he will “slice” them, which some interpret as a reference to his detractors.

Mboro, Baloyi, and his son are facing 12 charges, including kidnapping, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and assault.
The charges stem from an incident at Matsediso Primary School in Katlehong, where the three men allegedly kidnapped two minors on August 5.
A video of the incident went viral on social media, capturing the trio armed with machetes and an assault rifle as they forcibly took the children.

Joseph Guti has assumed leadership of the ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries after being ordained as the Presiding Bishop on Sunday.
He is the grandson of the late church founder, Archbishop Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti.
As reported by <a href="https://www.zbcnews.co.zw/zaoga-ordains-new-leader/">ZBC News</a>, the ordination took place at the Africa Multination for Christ College (AMFCC) in Glen View, Harare, during a ceremony attended by hundreds of congregants and religious leaders from around the world.
During the event, ZAOGA FIF Secretary General Mishael Nyambo said Guti had been accepted by the executive as the ordained Presiding Bishop and entrusted with the mandate to lead the church. Said Nyambo:

So according to the Constitution of the ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries and the guidance rules and policy, it empowers the executive to make such decisions.
And there is nothing that we do without another appointment and the endorsement of their executive.

The appointment of Joseph Guti comes 14 months after the passing of Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, who was declared a national hero.
Joseph Guti said ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries has been expanding globally, recently inaugurating a new church in South Korea. He said:

It is a task that I don’t take lightly. But the good news is that we are continuing in the solid footsteps and solid foundation laid by our father, the founding father and president.
The visionary of the Ministry laid the strong foundation for ZAOGA Faith in Ministries for 63 years before his departure after he was promoted to glory.

Joseph is married to Nyasha M. Guti, who is a powerful teacher of the word of God. She holds a BSC. Degree in Computer Science (U.Z.) and Master of Science in Strategic Management (CUT).

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced on Wednesday, August 28, the immediate repatriation of Bishop Eben K. Nhiwatiwa of the United Methodist Church, for allegedly violating immigration laws.
In a statement, NIS spokesperson Kenneth Udo said that Nhiwatiwa was arrested by officials on Saturday, August 24, in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
Udo explained that the Zimbabwean cleric had arrived in Nigeria on August 21 with a Tourist Visa (F5A) intended solely for tourism purposes but subsequently participated in the Methodist Church leadership election process. Udo said:

However, it was discovered he participated in the Methodist Church leadership election process.
This is in clear violation of the terms and privileges associated with the Tourist Visa as provided in the Nigeria Visa Policy 2024.
In light of the above, the NIS Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap with Ministerial approval, has ordered his immediate repatriation from the country.
The Service encourages lawful inflow of Foreign Direct Investment and individuals engaging in business and social activities, as key facilitators of economic growth and development.

Udo added that the service would not tolerate any form of violation of the nation’s immigration laws as it remains committed to preserving Nigeria’s national security.

Bishop Nhiwatiwa Deported From Nigeria Over Alleged Visa Violations

A faction within the African Apostolic Church, founded by Archbishop Paul Mwazha, sought police protection for its upcoming gathering to be graced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, reported <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/mwazha-faction-leaders-seek-police-protection-from-rivals-ahead-of-conference/">ZimLive</a>.
This faction is led by Reverend Nyika Murisi and is scheduled to convene at the Ndarikure Shrine in Midlands Province from August 30 to September 1, 2024.
The faction has accused a rival group led by Enerst Mhambare and Kurauone Sibanda of planning to disrupt the event by destroying Blair toilets at the Ndarikure Shrine.
Through their lawyers Rubaya and Chatambudza, Murisi’s faction has written a letter dated August 23, 2024, to the Commissioner General of Police Godwin Matanga, copied to the President, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Martin Rushwaya, and the Home Affairs and Justice Ministers.
In the letter, they state that they have been given the green light by the church’s supreme leader Archbishop Paul Mwazha to convene the conference, which the rival faction leaders allegedly want to hinder. The letter reads:

Our clients are of the firm view that Ernest Mhambare, Kurauone Sibanda and his cabal want to cause mayhem and pandemonium and in the process, disturb the prevailing peace in Zimbabwe.
</blockquote>
In the letter, the faction leaders, through their lawyers, detailed alleged violent incidents that they claim occurred at the Ndarikure Shrine on August 19. Reads the letter:

Kurauone Sibanda and his co-accused person connived to unlawfully and intentionally destroy the numerous Blair toilets which belong to all the members of the Vapostori VeAfrica Church.
They proceeded to Ndarikure Shrine with a JCB machine as well as a grader wherein they proceeded to razor down the church toilets which were functioning well in a bid to prevent the church gathering that is scheduled for the 30th of August 2024 to the 1st of September 2024.
He has allegedly proceeded to dig trenches across the roads leading to the shrine in a bid to block our clients from accessing the shrine.
Kurauone allegedly discharged a firearm to disperse some of our clients who had proceeded to the shrine to commence preparatory works.
He proceeded to point the firearm to other church members who tried to negotiate with him.
</blockquote>
The faction, through their lawyers, has further alleged that their rivals support those opposed to President Mnangagwa’s rule, and therefore want to disrupt the upcoming gathering at the Ndarikure Shrine. Wrote the lawyers:

Our clients suspect that Ernest Mhambare, Kurauone Sibanda, and his cabal are sympathetic to other political actors who are opposed to the Presidency, of His Excellency Cde. Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa since he is the one earmarked to attend as the Guest of Honour.
</blockquote>
In the letter, the faction requested urgent police intervention and deployment at the Ndarikure Shrine to allow them to continue with preparations for the upcoming gathering.

Leaders from one group in the African Apostolic Church want police protection for their event. They think a rival group might try to disturb it. Paul Mwazha Church Faction Leaders Seek Police Protection From Rivals

A bishop from the United Methodist Church (UMC) in Zimbabwe, Eben K. Nhiwatiwa, was reportedly arrested in Nigeria, a development that has been linked to internal tensions within the church.
According to the <a href="https://dailypost.ng/2024/08/25/zimbabwean-bishop-arrested-in-nigeria-as-united-methodist-church-crisis-deepens/">Daily Post</a>, Nhiwatiwa was detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Yola, Adamawa State.
Nhiwatiwa had travelled to the country to oversee the election of a new Nigerian bishop, following the resignation of Bishop John Wesley Yohanna.
The cleric was arrested during a meeting with church members in Yola and taken to the NIS headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement signed by pastor Salisu Waziri and made available to journalists in Jalingo, Taraba State, the church condemned Nhiwatiwa’s arrest and demanded his immediate release.
The church has reportedly been factionalized since the last international conference in the United States, where some members supported same-sex marriage, as reported by the Daily Post.
As of August 25, the Taraba State Government had closed all church branches spread across the state, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Charles Maijankai.
This was done to prevent a breakdown of law and order among the members. There are also allegations of plans to use security operatives to arrest more church members, including pastors. Added the statement:

Bishop Nhiwatiwa arrived in Yola Town, Adamawa State, the venue for the first meeting with the members of the Southern Nigerian Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in Nigeria but was on Friday 23 August 2024, whisked away at the venue of the meeting by Nigerian Immigration Service, Adamawa State Command, for questioning.
After several hours of detention in the Yola Immigration office, Bishop Nhiwatiwa was later confined to his hotel with guards before being taken to Abuja on Saturday 24 August 2024 in the company of an Immigration officer to the Immigration Headquarters in Abuja Nigeria’s capital where he is currently detained.

An immigration officer who spoke to the Daily Post on the condition of anonymity said: “only our national headquarters can respond to your question on the bishop in question.”

Zimbabwean Methodist Bishop Arrested In Nigeria

Nehemiah Mutendi, the leader of the influential Zion Christian Church (ZCC), has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to fulfil his campaign promise of working towards the economic development of all regions in Zimbabwe under the “leaving no one and no place behind” mantra.
Speaking during a national prayer meeting held at the State House last Thursday, Mutendi, who is considered a close ally of the President, stated that Mnangagwa’s pledge requires strong prayers and divine intervention to be successfully implemented. He said (<a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200030848/sadc-leaders-failing-regional-citizens-mutendi">NewsDay</a>):

We pray that the President of Zimbabwe upholds his pledge to leave no one behind and no place behind not just in Zimbabwe but across the region.
This, however, should not just be a slogan and it cannot come to pass if we do not stand firm as church to pray and pray very hard.
We pray this must be felt by all Zimbabweans across the board as well as the entire region so that citizens have full benefits from their heritage as bona fide sons and daughters of Zimbabwe and each respective country in this region.

Mnangagwa is assuming the rotational SADC chairmanship during the bloc’s heads of State and government summit in Harare on 17 August. Said Mutendi:

We all want to enjoy durable peace and security in our homes, communities, countries, and certainly in our region. 
We also pray that during our chairmanship Zimbabwe makes a significant buy-in of the Sadc development agenda for our benefit as a nation.

Mutendi and other clergy members who were hosted by Mnangagwa at the State House on Thursday did not address the ongoing arrests of pro-democracy activists on what critics claim are trumped-up charges.
In contrast, the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference (ZCBC) took a strong stance on the issue in a statement issued on August 9, 2024.
The ZCBC affirmed the right of citizens to demonstrate during international events, such as the upcoming SADC Summit, and condemned the “resurgence of ugly vices” like torture, abductions, and “wanton arrests of citizens under frivolous charges” in the lead-up to the summit.
It is worth noting that in April this year, ZANU-PF benefactor Wicknell Chivayo donated US$1 million to Mutendi’s church during the church’s Easter Passover festival at Mbungo Estates in Bikita district, Masvingo Province, where Mnangagwa was the guest of honour.

Bishop Mutendi Challenges Mnangagwa To Deliver On "Leaving No One Behind" Promise

The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference (ZCBC) has said citizens have a right to demonstrate during international events like the upcoming SADC Summit, noting that this phenomenon is not unique to Zimbabwe.
In a statement issued on August 9, 2024, addressing the current situation in the country, the ZCBC condemned the ongoing government crackdown on pro-democracy activists.
The bishops argued that the tendency of law enforcement agents to arrest suspects first and then conduct investigations afterwards, rather than the other way around, is problematic. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference (ZCBC) notes with deep concern the prevailing situation in the country.
We all are conscious of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Heads of States meeting that is to take place beginning on the 17th of August 2024.
It is in preparation for this important meeting that we are seeing the resurgence of some ugly vices. This is sad, for in a democratic nation that knows the value of human dignity, freedom of association and of speech, such vices have no place as they contradict some of the fundamental values that form the bedrock of our national Constitution.
Generally, people with grievances tend to take advantage of big meetings to air their views. We have seen people positioning themselves to do this in the past and are doing so now. This phenomenon is not unique to Zimbabwe.
Governments often struggle to deal with such realities. Some tend to be repressive, but such responses are self-defeating.
As the Catholic Bishops we are worried and saddened that to silence the dissenting voices and to quell possible demonstrations violence, torture, and abductions seem to be the only options deployed.
Why not try dialogue with those who feel aggrieved by the present state of our country?
As Zimbabweans, we are people with a culture of tolerance, and we value diversity. Let this be seen in how we conduct our businesses and how we articulate our grievances.
We appeal to all concerned, to exercise their rights responsibly and to the government we call for restraint. The prevailing situation in the country does no one any good.
Recently, we have seen the wanton arrests of citizens under frivolous charges. Some of the arrested have been denied bail. Surely even those who ‘have committed crimes’ deserve to be treated in a just manner.
They cannot be denied their fundamental rights. Here the adage, ‘justice delayed is justice denied,’ rings true. Let us safeguard the human rights enshrined in our Constitution.
As we once appealed before the August 2023 elections, we urge our politicians again and those in government to exercise their duties responsibly.
There is no need for the toxic, inflammatory rhetoric that is awash in the media. We would like to remind our politicians of the words of our Lord that, “To whom much is given; much will be required…” (Luke 12: 48).
With the positions of leadership that you hold, you have been entrusted with much, and we ask you to use your positions of influence to animate all the people of Zimbabwe, including those who may disagree with your decisions and policies.
As the SADC summit draws near, we appeal to the law enforcers that they execute their duties professionally.

Controversial South African pastor, Paseka Motsoeneng made his first appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 07 August, after he forcefully took his two grandchildren from the school while wielding a machete (panga).
According to <a href="https://www.iol.co.za/news/crime-and-courts/panga-wielding-pastor-mboro-and-co-accused-appear-in-court-but-will-spend-the-next-week-behind-bars-d668bcb9-87f7-4daa-92bf-960cbd8b8050">IOL</a>, the incident, which occurred at the Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong, southeast of Johannesburg on Monday, was captured on cellphone footage and went viral on social media.
The incident led to Motsoeneng’s tent church being burnt to ashes the following day by a mob including schoolchildren and the community.
Motsoeneng, also known as Pastor Mboro, his son Vincent Revival Motsoeneng, 27, and bodyguard Clement Camillot Baloyi, 43 appeared in court but were not asked to plead.
They were remanded in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for August 16.
As reported by IOL, the three men are facing a variety of charges, including assault, handling a firearm recklessly that could endanger lives and property, rendering security services while not registered, malicious damage to property, assault and intimidation.
Motsoeneng, a self-proclaimed prophet and charismatic preacher, together with his son and bodyguard, stormed the school premises and forcibly took his two boy grandchildren.
One of the children is in Grade RR and the other is in Grade 2.
The mother of the children died in April, leading to a dispute between the paternal and maternal sides of the family over the custody of the children.
Teaching staff attempted to prevent the father of the children, that is Pastor Motsoeneng’s son, from taking them from the school.
The pastor and the other two men then stormed the school and managed to drag the children out of the school armed with a rifle and a machete.
Following the incident, angry community members and learners torched the Incredible Happenings Church premises, reducing the large white marquee to ashes.

Machete-wielding South African Pastor Remanded In Custody

Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe, a Christian pastor with close ties to the ruling ZANU PF party, has claimed that there is no hunger in Zimbabwe and accused citizens of being “crybabies” who complain excessively and exaggerate problems.
Wutawunashe, who is the Founder and Overseer of the Family of God Church (FOG), as well as the chairman of the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) and the Faith for the Nation Campaign, made these remarks at a prayer meeting attended by over 60 delegates at the Flamboyant, a Regency Group hotel, in Masvingo on Thursday.
As reported by <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/zimbabwe-is-not-hungry-apostle-wutawunashe/">The Mirror</a>, Wutawunashe said that Zimbabwe has no economic refugees, and described the millions of citizens who have fled to the diaspora as “skilled expatriate workers” imparting their critical knowledge in host countries.
He also claimed that Zimbabwe was one of the most economically progressive nations in the region. Said Wutawunashe:

When people look at Zimbabwe, they are always complaining especially us Zimbabweans. We are always complaining that our country has hunger, but it’s not true. 
You can ask the likes of Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi who travels to all countries in Southern Africa, he will tell you Zimbabwe is a prosperous country.
Our citizens have migrated to SADC countries and the truth is that they are not going there to seek greener pastures or to beg, but to uplift those countries with skills that we possess as Zimbabweans.
The knowledge that we are imparting to SADC is the opportunity given (sic) to the nation and President Emmerson Mnangagwa by God to pass to other SADC countries.

It is worth noting that Wutawunashe is part of a group of indigenous church leaders, bishops, and prophets who are regularly pampered with money and vehicles by the ZANU PF government. Some have reportedly received as much as $1 million in such largesse.
The clergyman’s dismissive comments about hunger and economic hardship in Zimbabwe conveniently ignored the fact that the country is facing one of the most severe droughts in living memory, caused by the El Niño weather pattern. This crisis has left about half the population in need of food aid.
In April 2024, President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared a national disaster due to the drought and appealed for $2 billion in international assistance to help millions of Zimbabweans facing hunger.
The prayer meeting where Wutawunashe made his remarks was attended by Ezra Chadzamira, the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, who stood in for the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Frederick Shava.
The objectives of the meeting, which was sponsored by the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZICC) and the Faith for the Nation Campaign (FANA), included praying for a conducive, peaceful, and harmonious atmosphere for the 44th SADC Summit to be held in Harare on August 17, as well as for wisdom and unity among SADC state leaders as they deliberate on the agenda of integrating Southern African nations.

Some members of the local Christian community in Zimbabwe have called for a boycott of an upcoming music tour by American gospel singer, choir director, record producer, and rapper Kirk Franklin.
Franklin, along with the Maverick City Music, is scheduled to perform at the Glamis Arena in Harare on August 12, 2024.
However, it appears that certain segments of the Zimbabwean Christian population are opposed to the tour.
Commenting on the calls for a boycott of Franklin and Maverick City Music’s Zimbabwean tour, journalist Ranga Mberi wrote on Facebook:

Also commenting on the issue, Tinashe Nyamukapa, Tinashe Nyamukapa argued that gospel music should be viewed as a ministry rather than mere entertainment.
Nyamukapa contended that gospel artists should not adopt a business-oriented model, as he believes the primary purpose of gospel music should be spiritual edification and outreach, not commercial gain. He wrote on X:

 So I decided to take some time to investigate the context of why there has been such an uproar( which is a first ) concerning a gospel concert. 
And all roads led me to the Masters Voice Prophecy Blog as well as to Kirk Franklin’s current issues with his song where he says the lion and the lamb will bow to the G.O.A.T. 
Kirk Franklin has been unfortunately highly controversial of late and this one lyric when you sing Gospel music which should be based on theology is highly concerning. 
Personally, where do I stand? Firstly I have always maintained and will always maintain that you cannot make people pay to worship. 
That’s not the biblical model and yes I know musicians should be paid and I strongly believe and have even done a blog on why musicians should be paid but the concert model is not a biblical model and the moment you copy the world and the love of money becomes the motivation it eventually catches up with you! 
Secondly, gospel artists know your audience. I know there are a lot of people crying that this is Christians being judgey. I disagree. 
The moment people are paying for a product they have a right as customers to certain privileges. You cannot claim to run a business and then cry foul when you are treated like a business. 
I would say Kirk especially has been rather reckless and even unrepentant with his actions which his Christian clients consider not in line with their beliefs and value system. 
Hence he cannot cry foul when people no longer want to spend their money on his product. He should know his audience and let his business respect the wishes of the customer. The customer is King as the saying goes. 
Thirdly I see my brother Takesure Zamar’s cancellation as protecting his brand. And I say protecting his brand because he had initially agreed to do the concert had he not; so they had agreed on payments and so on. 
I don’t think that was the issue. The issue was that Takesure could not let his brand be associated with this controversy knowing full well that the church world can be very punitive when it comes to cancelling gospel artists. 
And we can see by the comments on his cancellation post that his clients were very happy with the decision that he took. Fourthly what’s gonna happen now? 
Well, I think certain people will still go to the event but it’s most likely going to flop because of this controversy. 
Unlike in the secular world where controversy sells and no publicity is bad publicity. In Christian business controversy kills brands and bad publicity causes the saints to avoid you. 
Lastly to those in the Christian music business, the lesson to be learnt here is to know your customer and beware of your conduct. 
The Christian music scene has some unwritten rules and if you break them your business will suffer loss. I do not subscribe to gospel music being a business model but I subscribe to gospel music being a ministry because it’s more than entertainment. 
It is a ministry that is supposed to change lives, bring healing and miracles and lead souls to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ

Christians Call For Boycott Of Kirk Franklin's Upcoming Zimbabwean Music Tour

Zimbabwean preacher, Walter Magaya, is in Malawi for a two-day spiritual conference which, to attend, one has to pay K100 000.
As reported by <a href="https://www.nyasatimes.com/zimbabwes-prophet-magaya-arrives-in-malawi-for-two-day-conference-attendance-fee-is-k100-000/">Nyasa Times</a>, Magaya was welcomed on arrival in Malawi on Friday afternoon by local preacher Good News Ministries leader Patson Gondwe.
The conference is slated for the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) from July 6 to 7, 2024.
In an earlier interview with Nyasa Times, Gondwe said the conference shall take place from 6-7 July 2024, adding that participants will be required to contribute a minimum of US$50 [MK100, 000] fee to attend. He said:

He [Magaya] will be focusing on leadership teachings, and mentoring leaders to become the best at their leadership ability. He will also be mentoring us spiritually.

Gondwe said Magaya, whom he describes as his spiritual father, will mentor participants in areas of business, leadership, entrepreneurship, healing and deliverance. He said:

Magaya In Malawi For Two-day Conference, Attendance Fee Is K100 000

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of eight Anglican church members who were burnt beyond recognition in a bus accident in Gandanzara Village when the bus they were travelling in caught fire last month.
The accident occurred at the 26-kilometre peg along Nyabadza-Gandanzara Road on 16 June 2024 at around 7 PM.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that DNA analysis had been conducted at the National University of Science and Technology to identify the eight bodies recovered.
The deceased persons are Charity Nyamapfeni, Annie Miti, Gladys Sarutani Gumiro, Viola Nyambabvu, Winnie Chiremba, Agnes Miti, Magaret Mupangabure, and Bradley Mukwane.
The <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/new-bus-fire-accident-victims-identified/">Manica Post</a> reported that a church service was held at Rusape General Hospital where families were handed the remains of their late relatives.
They will be buried in Sherukuru in Mutasa District on Saturday, 06 July 2024.
Addressing mourners, Department of Civil Protection chief director Nathan Nkomo said:

The accident was declared a state of disaster, which means the government took over all the costs related to the funerals.
We also took care of the DNA tests which were conducted by NUST in Bulawayo and it was done on time.
All government departments and ministries which had a role to play did so exceptionally well in executing their duties.

Police Release Names Of Eight Anglican Church Members Killed In Bus Accident

Archbishop Pius Ncube, the former head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bulawayo, said he continues to do “the Lord’s work” nearly two decades after a sex scandal seemingly derailed his career.
In 2007, Ncube, now Archbishop Emeritus, faced public scrutiny over allegations of adultery with Rosemary Sibanda, a married congregant.
Since then, Ncube maintained a period of silence and temporarily relocated to the Vatican, the Roman Catholic Church’s headquarters, before returning to Zimbabwe to rebuild his life.
Speaking to the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/pius-ncube-breaks-silence/">Chronicle</a> at Magoli Catholic Church in rural Dete recently, the 78-year-old clergyman revealed that upon his return, the church advised him to maintain a low profile.
He was subsequently assigned to the Marist Brothers Seminary in Dete, Hwange District, Matabeleland North province. He said:

I am still doing the Lord’s work as you can see. My life has not changed for the worse. I have been here in Dete where I do a lot of things for the community, especially the elderly who may be having various life challenges. I counsel them and sometimes assist them financially.

Archbishop Emeritus Ncube declined to comment on the 2007 events or discuss politics, stating the church has restricted him from engaging in such public discourse. He said:

I have my views about the political situation in the country, past and present but the church ordered me not to say anything, which I am obliged to follow as a loyal servant, even though I would want to have my views known.

Archbishop Emeritus Ncube disclosed that he attempted to venture into small-scale potato farming, but the project did not prove successful, leading him to ultimately abandon it. He said:

I only managed to harvest about three buckets, which I felt wasn’t a good business model looking at the cost of production, especially water charges hence I abandoned that.

He said that he and other priests have successfully translated the Catechism of the Catholic Church into iSiNdebele—a project that spanned nearly three years. The book is now poised for formal presentation to the public by the church leadership. Said Archbishop Emeritus Ncube:

We realised that some members of the church may not have received enough education for them to be able to read and understand the English language but are eloquent in iSiNdebele.
So, this translation will assist them greatly. The book is done, it’s about 800 pages, what is left now is just to include indexes and also acknowledge our various sources.
I must emphasise that our church leaders will present the document to the public as per protocol.

Archbishop Pius Ncube Still Doing "The Lord’s Work"

The slaughter of about 500 cattle in Mutoko, along with pictures and videos of their carcasses flooding social media platforms, has drawn the attention of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
Some villagers have been posting audio, and videos, claiming that some Muslims were slaughtering animals for blood and leaving the whole meat to them.
ZRP spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, told <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/police-probe-slaughter-of-500-cattle-in-mutoko/">H-Metro</a> they have launched investigations into the matter. He said:

Police are investigating circumstances surrounding the slaughter of almost 500 animals in Mutoko.
We will issue a comprehensive statement soon after the completion of the investigations.
</blockquote>
Speaking to H-Metro, the president of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Zimbabwe, Sheikh Ishmail Duwa, also said they are investigating reports that the animals were slaughtered by Muslims. He said:

We have learnt about the slaughtering of animals for rituals in Mutoko through social media.
We have since instituted an investigation to find out if this is being done by Muslims or if it’s meant to tarnish the image of Islam.
Yes, Muslims have a festival called Eid al-Adha (also known as Eid ul-Adha or Bakrid), which involves the sacrifice of animals as a religious ritual.
The festival commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to God.
During Eid al-Adha, Muslims sacrifice animals like sheep, goats, cows, or camels, and the meat is then distributed to the poor and needy.
The sacrifice is done to honour Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, show gratitude to Allah (God) for His blessings and demonstrate obedience to God’s commands.
The festival is celebrated annually on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, which falls about 70 days after Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
It’s important to note that the sacrifice is not done for bloodshed, but rather as a symbol of devotion and obedience to God.
The meat is then used to feed the poor and needy, promoting charity and generosity.

Duwa said there was a shortage of halal meat in the country.
For meat to be certified, it must be slaughtered per Islamic law, as defined in the Koran.
The Islamic form of slaughtering animals or poultry, dhabiha, involves killing through a cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe.

Police Investigate Mass Cattle Slaughter In Mutoko

Controversial Harare-based preacher, Talent Madungwe, can now sleep soundly at night after he settled his rental arrears with his landlord.
The self-styled prophet paid US$100 of the US$800 he owes his landlady in rental arrears early this month but his landlord, Gogo Mangena of Hatfield Harare, was not amused.
Madungwe had fallen foul of his landlord after he failed to pay his rentals for four months.
<a href="https://nehandaradio.com/2024/06/19/prophet-talent-madungwe-finally-settles-rental-arrears-after-blaming-the-devil/">Nehanda Radio</a> reported Gogo Mangena as saying the Exiles Desire of Nations founder had now made full payment and was thus in the clear. She said:

Yes, he has paid the balance following the US$100 he first paid. All is well now.
</blockquote>
Madungwe blamed his financial challenges on evil forces, whom he claimed did not want him preaching the word of God.
However, his critics consider his claim of seeing God face to face and dining with the Almighty as blasphemous, and they believe he is now facing divine wrath.
Madungwe gave credit to United Kingdom-based entrepreneur and Pastor Chenai Marerwa, for giving him the money to clear his rental arrears. He said:

Madungwe Finally Settles 4 Months Rental Arrears

The Anglican Diocese of Manicaland Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA) has released the names of eight of its members who lost their lives when a Pashonlink bus they were travelling on caught fire and burnt to a shell along the Nyabandza-Gandanzara Road in Rusape on Sunday, June 16.
The bus had 65 members of the Anglican Manicaland Diocese Church on board travelling to their rural homes in Sherukuru in Mutasa District from a pilgrimage at Bernard Mizeki shrine in Marondera, Mashonaland East Province.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 18, the Anglican Church said that the deceased persons are:

Eight Anglican Pilgrims Killed In Bus Inferno Named

More than 40 undocumented burials were conducted by apostolic communities in Hurungwe, with the graves turned into sweet potato and tomato beds, a report claims.
A report presented by the Mashonaland West medical director, Dr Celestino Dhege, during the Government’s provincial heads meeting held in Chinhoyi recently, shows that over 40 secret burials were conducted in Hurungwe District.
This has been happening in Maronda/Mangate, Shumba, Village 5, Chakaraya and Dzokamushure Villages.
The report says villagers have been seeing vegetable gardens and beds sprouting each morning unaware that underneath the fertile soils lies a dead child denied medical attention. Said Dhege (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/sect-conceals-40-graves-under-sweet-potato-beds/">The Herald</a>):

We are told that over 40 secret burials were conducted in the Hurungwe area, where parents would then plant sweet potatoes and tomatoes on top to conceal evidence of their bad acts. Investigations are ongoing and we will get to the bottom of this.
As a province, we are working towards giving the communities knowledge regarding the dangers of various diseases that the nation faces.
My office was briefed by health officials that in the Hurungwe area, where these deaths and secret burials occurred, there was an outbreak of diarrhoeal diseases, mumps and measles.

Dr Dhege added that a household in Ward 22 had lost children aged 12, nine, seven, three, one and half years within a short space of time.
He called on lawmakers to enact laws that protect children from parents who shun modern medicine amid revelations that many were succumbing to measles, cholera and other diarrhoeal diseases.
Wards 4 and 22 of Hurungwe Rural District Council were the most affected by cases of mumps and measles.
Dr Dhege said it was high time punitive measures were put to deter would-be offenders to protect the children. He said:

On a sad note, apostolic (Marange) communities hide these incidents.
Where we have outbreaks like cholera and measles, some apostolic members bury their children at night after denying them access to medical care.
To conceal the horrendous act, they plant sweet potatoes on top of the graves.
To them, the death of a child is not as significant as we think. They believe children are like bricks, more will be moulded.

A 23-year-old mother, Tariro Gambe, was recently divorced by her husband, disowned by her parents and de-churched by the sect after she sought medical attention following the death of her nine-year-old child in March this year.

Apostolic Sect Conceals 40 Graves Under Sweet Potato Beds

Anglican Diocese of Manicaland Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA) says 8 out of 62 church members who were on a bus that caught fire just after sunset on Sunday in the Gandanzara area are unaccounted for.
In a statement issued this Monday, June 17, 2024, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Manicaland, CPCA, The Rt. Revd. Erick Ruwona said the bus was carrying 62 pilgrims from the St. Bernard Mizeki Shrine in Marondera when the accident occurred around 6 PM on Sunday.
He said 54 pilgrims survived the fire inferno, with 11 of the survivors currently hospitalised at two different hospitals in Mutare and Rusape. Said Ruwona:

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that the Anglican Diocese of Manicaland CPCA releases this statement regarding the tragic road traffic accident that occurred on the road to Sherukuru on 16 June 2024 at around 6 pm.
The accident involved a bus that caught fire and was carrying 62 pilgrims from the St. Bernard Mizeki Shrine in Marondera.
The pilgrims were returning home from the annual Bernard Mizeki Commemorations when the accident occurred in the Gandanzara area.
Together with other Diocesan Officials, We visited the accident scene last night, the facts are that, 54 pilgrims survived the fire inferno, with 11 of the survivors currently hospitalized for treatment of their injuries at Rusape General Hospital. 3 of the 11 have been transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
However, we are deeply saddened to confirm that 8 pilgrims remain unaccounted for, and we fear that they may have perished in the fire inferno.
The Diocese is working closely with the relevant authorities, including the DA’s Office, police and emergency services, to ascertain the full details of the accident and to provide support and assistance to the affected families.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives in this tragic event. Our prayers and thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

8 Pilgrims Killed, 11 Injured In Bus Inferno, Anglican Church Says

Seven (7) people died when a Passion Link bus carrying pilgrims from Bernard Mizeki caught fire on Sunday.
National Shrines chairperson, Reverend Father Edwin Selemani was cited as saying 14 others were hospitalised and three were critically Injured.
The annual pilgrimage takes place at the Bernard Mizeki shrine in Marondera and draws Anglicans from across Zimbabwe, the southern African region, and beyond.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) also confirmed the accident in a post on their official X page. Police said:

Bus Carrying Bernard Mizeki Pilgrims Catches Fire, Seven Killed

Self-proclaimed prophet, Talent Madungwe, who rose to fame a few years ago after claiming he met God in heaven and had a “braai” with the Almighty, is said to be in financial distress and can now barely afford to pay his rent.
According to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/prophet-madungwe-falls-on-hard-times-fails-to-pay-rent-he-hasnt-paid-rent-for-four-months-he-claims-the-devil-is-now-fighting-him/">H-Metro</a>, the Exile Desire of All Nations founder may be evicted after he failed to pay rentals for almost four months at the house he is renting in Hatfield, Harare.
Madungwe’s 70-year-old landlady, Gogo Mangena, told H-Metro that he was even opting to leave without paying his rental arrears. She said:

I was being silenced from demanding my rentals for some time.
Prophet Madungwe kwakutondidheerera vachingoti ndichabhadhara, ndichabhadhara.
I gave him a notice and he wants to leave without paying my money.
This is unfair considering that I respect him as a celebrity.
He wakes up daily and conducts three prayers without going to work.
Handidye minamato yake ini, ndinoda mari yangu. (I don’t eat his prayers, I want my money).

Madungwe confirmed to H-Metro that he had fallen on hard times and was passing through trials. He said:

Things have not been well for me since September last year.
Ukaona wakushaya mari yekubhadhara rent ziva kuti nevana varikutofa nenzara.
I am being attacked by the Devil because of preaching the word and many enemies are after my downfall, but I will not give up.
I have not been meeting God for talks for some time, besides that, God does not give us money but power to heal and raise the dead.

The self-styled prophet has a minor child and his wife is expecting another child.
Madungwe’s critics consider his claim of seeing God face to face as blasphemous, and they believe he is now facing divine wrath.

"Prophet" Talent Madungwe Faces Eviction From Rented Home

Bishop Rocky Moyo, the president of the Council of Churches in Africa, has urged the church, particularly traditional churches, to discuss sex issues, rather than leave the youth and teenagers at the mercy of misleading information from the internet.
Moyo said newspapers are full of reports about teenage pregnancies and teenagers who have joined the sex work industry, and this is partly attributable to the church’s failure to discuss sex issues. Moyo said (via <a href="https://bmetro.co.zw/preach-about-sex-in-churches-bishop/">B-Metro</a>):

I’m an avid newspaper reader, so I keep up to date with current affairs. One issue that has hit me hard is the issue of teenagers falling pregnant, after that, they stop coming to church and some adopt delinquent behaviours and join the sex work industry.
In some cases, after the teen falls pregnant, she drops out of school. Some youths desert their families while some stop attending church services as they would be depressed and ashamed of being labelled all sorts of names.
Some of the church members are the reason behind the depression as they are quick to accuse the girl of being promiscuous, but they do not blame the boy who would have impregnated the girl.

Moyo said churches should have literature on sex that is specifically tailored for teenagers as this will help them make informed decisions rather than letting them rely on internet information.
A Brethren in Christ Church (BICC) reverend who chose not to be named told B-Metro that the issue of sex is rarely discussed at their church. Said the cleric:

At our church, the issue of sex is rarely discussed and is discussed at Youth camps only and that is once or twice a year.
Sadly, some of the youths do not attend camps and they are left at the mercy of wrong information.

Meanwhile, Moyo said some churches find it difficult to discuss the issue as parents and their children would be in the same room.
Zimbabwe’s teenage pregnancy rate stands at approximately 22%, placing the country at position 28 out of 54 on UNICEF’s early childbearing list.
Teenage pregnancy has significant psycho-social, economic, development, and health costs.

Church Bishop Calls For Sex Education In Churches

ZANU PF-aligned pastor Obadiah Musindo of the Destiny for Africa Network said Passion Java has no one to blame but himself after his much-hyped event, the “Night of Wonders” flopped.
Java, who is also a ZANU PF loyalist, had boasted that he would fill up the venue, the National Sports Stadium, vowing to quit preaching if he failed.
However, there was a poor turnout, forcing Java to prematurely end the gathering to avoid further embarrassment.
His followers claimed that he was sabotaged by fellow pastors who didn’t want the event to succeed.
But speaking to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200026968/why-java-night-of-wonders-flopped">NewsDay</a>, Musindo said various organisations had mobilised people to attend the event but Java failed to avail buses to ferry them to the National Sports Stadium. He said:

Passion should not blame anyone, be it other prophets or bishops. No one sabotaged him except his team. Except, I repeat, his team.
People are so bitter because they took their time. They did everything to mobilise people, only to be disappointed by failing to get transport.
And lastly, for example, on my side, he promised to hire buses for us.
There are different organisations, but I can’t speak for them as some of them came to me crying saying they were asked to hire buses, but the money never came.
Past five (5 pm), when the event was starting, that was the time that some money was released for us to hire buses.
Who was going to wait for Passion until midnight? Who in his sane mind was going to wait for Passion until late?

Java is among a group of pastors who subscribe to the prosperity gospel which gained prominence in Zimbabwe and other parts of Africa, particularly Nigeria in the past few decades.
The prosperity gospel is a form of Pentecostalism that emphasises material wealth, health, and success as signs of God’s favour.
In Zimbabwe, proponents of the prosperity gospel claim to have the power to perform miraculous financial blessings sometimes referred to as “miracle money.”
Some Evangelical theologians consider it a serious heresy and a deception for many Christians arguing it can be misleading and distort fundamental Christian tenets.
Critics say that by focusing on supernatural wealth and blessings, prosperity preachers may divert attention from addressing tangible issues causing suffering, such as corruption.

ZANU PF-aligned Pastor Explains Why Passion Java's “Night of Wonders” Flopped

A Zimbabwean woman has been named as the first deaconess in the global Eastern Orthodox Church.
The Eastern Orthodox Church, officially known as the Orthodox Catholic Church, is one of the three major doctrinal and jurisdictional groups within Christianity and has a strong presence in regions such as Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, Belarus, Serbia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, North Macedonia, Cyprus, and Montenegro.
As reported by <a href="https://religionnews.com/2024/05/03/eastern-orthodox-church-ordains-zimbabwan-woman-as-its-first-deaconess/">Religion News</a>, the Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all of Africa named Angelic Molen as the first deaconess in the global Eastern Orthodox Church in a ceremony held on May 2, 2024.
The event, held at St. Nektarios Mission Parish near Harare, Zimbabwe, marked the culmination of efforts to revive the female diaconate within the Church.
Molen was ordained by Metropolitan Serafim, the Archbishop of Zimbabwe on Holy Thursday, just before Orthodox Easter.
Molen told Religion News that initially, she was nervous about entering the altar but felt comforted and ready after receiving blessings from Metropolitan Serafim. She said:

At first, I was nervous about going to the altar, but when Metropolitan Serafim blessed me to enter the altar as part of my preparation this week, those feelings went away, and I felt comfortable. I am ready.

Molen’s ordination is part of the Patriarchate’s broader efforts to address the growing need for priests and deacons in African parishes.
However, a deaconess is not a priest/priestess. Her responsibilities will include assisting priests in liturgical duties and addressing specific parish needs in Zimbabwe.
Molen is currently studying geography and environmental studies and has served Orthodox Christians in Zimbabwe for years, working with youth and establishing church schools.
She has also created several mother’s groups to serve women.

Zimbabwean Woman Becomes First Deaconess In Eastern Orthodox Church

Controversial preacher Uebert Angel, whose real name is Uebert Mudzanhire, is reportedly facing a police investigation following allegations that he hired assassins to kill a rival church leader.
According to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/thestandard/amp/news/article/200026368/police-investigate-uebert-angel-alleged-murder-plot">The Standard</a>, a report was made on April 26 at Harare Central Police Station alleging that Angel was linked to an alleged plot involving two suspected South African hitmen hired to kill Batsirai Java of the Tabernacle of Grace Church in Harare.
Angel, who is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s special envoy to the Americas and Europe and Java have been involved in a long-running rift feud.
Angel, who is the leader of the GoodNews Church (Spirit Embassy), reportedly accuses Java of extortion and blackmail.
Java was married to late opposition MP and former prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s daughter Vimbai, who died following a car accident in 2019.
Batsirai Java is a brother to another Mnangagwa and ZANU PF apologist and self-proclaimed prophet Panganai “Passion” Java.
Last month, Java’s security aide Nigel Dutiro approached the police about the alleged South African assassins.
Dutiro confirmed to The Standard that he made the report under RRB number 141472. He said:

It’s true. I made a police report because there was a threat to life.
</blockquote>
Dutiro, however, said he could not reveal more details about the report because the matter was now being handled by the police.
The alleged murder plot was exposed by a woman identified as Sharon Munro, who is said to be based in South Africa.
Munro was allegedly in Zimbabwe on March 31 where she was overhead by patrons at an upmarket bar in Borrowdale, Harare, talking about the alleged plot against Java.
She left the country on April 3 via the Robert Mugabe International Airport.
The Standard reported sources as saying the alleged murder plot was supposed to involve two South Africans only identified as Mkhwananzi and Ndimande.
The alleged hitman entered Zimbabwe through Beitbridge and were later transported as far as Harare.
The South Africans returned home without accomplishing the task after the woman allegedly linked to Angel leaked the details of the plot.
Java was last Sunday summoned by the police as part of the investigations. He said:

l am aware that someone from my church has made a report to the police, and we are waiting for investigations.
</blockquote>
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was yet to get a briefing from Harare police where the matter was reported.
The person who picked up Munro’s phone reportedly said she had no idea what the publication was enquiring about when asked for a comment. She later posted the same questions on her WhatsApp status.
Angel did not respond to questions sent to him by The Standard two weeks ago.
Early last year, Angel was at the centre of a documentary by Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit called “Gold Mafia” that exposed illicit gold trade and money laundering by powerful figures in Zimbabwe and the southern African region.
Angel was secretly recorded telling undercover journalists that he could facilitate the smuggling of gold and launder millions of cash by abusing his diplomatic privileges.

Uebert Angel Faces Police Investigation Over Alleged Murder Plot

Cossam Chiangwa, the leader of the Apostolic Faith Mission of Zimbabwe (AFMOZ), has reportedly ordered his church members and administrators to exclusively buy and consume Lobel’s Bread products.
AFMOZ was formed by former members of AFM who broke away after losing control of the church and its properties following years of internal conflicts related to leadership, finances, and governance.
Chiangwa did not explain the reasons for his directive which has raised suspicions among congregants.
A church member, Olivia Chiwara, told <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/afm-orders-churches-to-exclusively-buy-lobels-products-move-raises-stink/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> that the deal between Lobel’s Bread and Chiangwa and part of the church’s leadership has shut out competition from other companies. She said:

We know that Chiangwa and his colleagues were offered jobs and benefits in exchange for granting exclusive rights to Lobel’s Bread.
Lobel’s will be the sole product sold at AFM functions and events, with other sections advised to purchase it for domestic use.

Another church member who declined to be identified said is it dangerous for a religious leader to determine how congregants spend their money. Said the AFMOZ congregant:

We cannot afford to have another Madzibaba Ishmael here. We cannot be told what to eat and what not to eat in a religious institution.
We have nothing against Lobel’s, but allowing a religious leader to determine how we spend our money is dangerous. This is how cults and cult following start.
</blockquote>
Madzibaba Ishmael Chokurongerwa is the founder and leader of a religious cult based in Nyabira called the Johanne Masowe Penyera Nyika sect.
Chokurongerwa spent considerable time in jail after he attacked police officers at his shrine in Budiriro. He was granted bail by the High Court on Friday, 27 April, after spending almost two months in remand prison following his arrest for allegedly violating the Burial and Children’s Act, respectively.
Efforts by NewZimbabwe.com to get a comment from the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) were fruitless as the commission’s chief executive officer (CEO) Zororo Muranda directed all questions to his director of research and public affairs, whose phone went unanswered.

AFM Orders Congregants To Exclusively Buy Lobel's Bread Products

Controversial businessman and ZANU PF benefactor Wicknell Chivayo has donated US$1 million to the Zion Christian Church (ZCC).
According to <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/chivayo-donates-us1-million-to-zanu-pf-associated-zion-christian-church/">The Herald</a>, Chivayo donated the cash during the church’s Easter Passover festival at Mbungo Estates in Bikita district, Masvingo Province where President Mnangagwa was the guest of honour.
ZCC leader Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, who has publicly vowed the church’s support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF, announced the donation. He said:

There is this young businessman, Chivayo, who is doing great work. He donated some money to our church. It is a six-zero figure, US$1 million. We are quite happy as a church and that is a show of love and kindness.
</blockquote>
Chivayo, who was part of the dignitaries that attended the annual event where more than 150 000 pilgrims drawn from Zimbabwe and 18 other countries were gathered, said:

My small donation to the Church was largely inspired by the philanthropic work that the Church is mostly passionate about. Whenever an act of love is selflessly demonstrated, I easily associate with and promote it.
More importantly, ZCC is a church that has consistently illustrated its unwavering love for Zimbabwe’s development by regularly praying for its leadership.
His Grace, Bishop Mutendi, is the founder and patron of the Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches which on many occasions carried out night vigils at State House praying for wisdom and knowledge upon our leaders in Government, under the visionary leadership of H.E President E.D. Mnangagwa.
This interdenominational council of churches has also advocated for socio-economic upliftment of indigenous people which is an act of compassion that deserves full recognition and financial support, particularly from the private sector.

Chivayo’s donation to ZCC aligns with his mission to support groups and individuals closely linked to ZANU PF.

Chivayo Donates US$1 Million To Zion Christian Church

Tendai Mukombe, the first wife of Madzibaba Ishmael Chokurongerwa, has lifted the veil on their tumultuous marriage.
Her candid revelations paint a picture of hypocrisy, secrecy, and hardship within the confines of their unconventional family.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/madzibaba-ishmaels-ex-wife-claims-he-is-a-hypocrite-she-says-he-paid-lobola-for-her-took-birth-certificates-for-their-kids-marriage-collapsed-after-fallout-due-to-his-move-to-get-an/">H-Metro</a>, Mukombe said that Madzibaba Ishmael was a hypocrite. While he preaches to his devoted followers, his actions behind closed doors tell a different story.
She said his ability to sway minds and “brainwash” his army of faithful adherents contrasts sharply with the reality of his personal life.
Mukombe and Madzibaba Ishmael share a complicated history. They have eight children together, but two of their kids have passed away.
Four of their children reside with their father in the mystical realm of “Canaan.” Mukombe, on the other hand, lives with her two boys, in rural Murehwa, Mashonaland East Province.
The breaking point in their marriage came when Madzibaba Ishmael took a second wife.  Interestingly, Mukombe claims to know only the second wife, unaware of the existence of the other seven wives in Madzibaba Ishmael’s clandestine network.
Mukombe said her daughters are now married but she never received any lobola (bride price) for them. Madzibaba Ishmael’s decree outlawed this customary practice.
Strangely, he paid lobola for Mukombe in full, securing her as his first wife. Additionally, he possesses birth certificates for all eight of their children.
Yet, these certificates remain forbidden within the sacred confines of Madzibaba Ishmael’s shrine. Said Tendai:

I never received any lobola from my son-in-laws since Madzibaba Ishmael abolished the lobola custom.
Asi iye akandibvisira pfuma yose zvekuti baba namai vangu vakapfeka mbatya nekudya roora rese.
Madzibaba Ishmael acquired birth certificates for all his children with me.
It is my prayer for Madzibaba Ishmael to repent, to look after all his children and to be released from prison for good.

She also claimed she was blocked by Madzibaba Ishmael from receiving any kind of support from him, his church and any of her children after she refused to support his church’s doctrine. She said:

My life has not been good since the outbreak of COVID-19, in March 2020.
That is the time he ditched me, following a misunderstanding over his decision to marry his second wife.
Ndakaramba kuenda kuNyabira ndikati handingasiye dzimba dzangu, ndinofira pano.
My marital issues haunted me and I nearly took my life, but my neighbours urged me to soldier on and remain prayerful.
</blockquote>
Mukombe’s life took a dramatic turn when her rural home, a sanctuary of memories and struggles, was unexpectedly put up for sale by Madzibaba Ishmael.
In her desperate plea for mercy, she encountered compassionate homeseekers who understood the gravity of her predicament.
But the challenges did not end there. When Madzibaba Ishmael faced arrest after the Budiriro incident, Tendai found herself thrust into an unfamiliar role. With her husband behind bars, she became the sole provider for their children.
In the quiet corners of her modest home, Mukombe grappled with the harsh realities of poverty and the enigma of a spiritual leader who had once promised solace but now left her to fend for herself and their children. She said:

He was jailed and I had to fend for the children alone. He was jailed when I was nursing our last born and the baby died while he was in prison.
Upon his release, Madzibaba Ishmael inflicted more pain on me by marrying another wife.
</blockquote>
She said her marriage caused her a great deal of suffering and she decided to stop going to Madzibaba Ishmael’s church and joined another Johanne Masowe yeChishanu because she was being mocked and her children were not being supported.
Mukombe said Madzibaba Ishmael convinced the children that he was not going to look after them if they were to remain with her.

Madzibaba Ishmael’s Ex-wife, Tendai Mukombe, Says He Is A Hyprocrite

The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference (ZCBC) has said the unresolved August 2023 election dispute has worsened the suffering of ordinary citizens and that there is a general feeling that the country is moving towards a one-party State.
In a statement issued on Monday, 12 February, to mark the beginning of the Catholic Church Lenten season, ZCBC said Zimbabweans are worried that democracy is slowly dying. Said the bishops:

Our local environment has not been exempted from the global challenges noted above. Our country continues to suffer from the displacement of families due to the non-performance of the economy.
The decision by the Government to raise taxes at a time when ordinary people can hardly afford a meal a day has worsened the family situation.
For the majority of the elderly and the poor in particular, it has become unbearable to live. Prices of basic commodities are increasingly expensive.
The unresolved political contests since the August 2023 elections have not left the country in a good space.
Locally, there are fears among people that we are moving towards a one-party State, with democracy dying a slow death.

The Catholic bishops said most of the challenges facing people are a result of “bad politics”. Reads the statement:

Whereas some of these ills are a result of natural disasters, most of them are man-made and are not accidental.
Poverty in the world is a direct result of the political and economic policies of governments, political parties and big businesses.
It is a result of policies and systems. In the light of bad politics, failed economic systems and their devastating effects, many people are in despair.

The remarks by the Catholic bishops come as a small group of CCC activists connived with State institutions to reverse the results of the 23 August 2023 general elections and give ZANU PF a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly, the Lower House of Parliament.
Fronted by one Sengezo Tshabangu who claimed to be CCC’s interim secretary-general, the activists recalled dozens of the party’s MPs and Councillors who won their seats in a hostile political environment.
After effecting the recalls, Tshabangu and his colleagues did not bother fielding candidates in some of the contested wards, allowing ZANU PF candidates to win uncontested.
