Job Description
Applicants are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant posts that have arisen in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission.
Reports To: Provincial Human Rights Officer CHI Station
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives complaints of human rights violations and interview complainants to establish the admissibility of the case to determine course of action.
- Investigates alleged human rights violations and make appropriate recommendations.
- Writes opinions after determining the course of action for review and approval by the Provincial Human Rights Officer responsible.
- Drafts concepts note, discussion points, speeches and funding proposals for the unit.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual complaints handling reports.
- Provides input into internal and external materials including information and communication tools.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of laws (Honours) degree from an accredited tertiary institution.
- At least one years' experience in human rights and development work.
- Have an understanding of the legal and policy frameworks relevant to human rights promotion, protection and enforcement.
- Knowledgeable and conversant with international human rights treaties, international, regional and domestic human rights systems and protection mechanisms.
- Must have strong report writing and analytical skills.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Aptitude for working with computers.
