Dynamos captain Frank Makarati said the team is preparing for a challenging match against Botswana’s Orapa United in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup final preliminary round tie at Obert Itani Chilume Stadium on Sunday.
DeMbare enters the match with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg, knowing that a draw will suffice for them to qualify for the group stages.
In an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200032599/dembare-braced-for-big-fight">NewsDay</a>, Makarati said that the team will do everything possible to secure a positive result. He said:

This is a match we have to win at all costs. We are prepared to leave everything on the field.
A win will mean a lot for the team and our supporters. As players, we want to play for our careers because a win will improve our CVs.
Qualifying for the group stages will also put the country back on the football map. So there is a lot at stake in this match.
Orapa are a good side, so we anticipate a tough encounter. We will have to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes because we know how dangerous they are.
We won the first match, but there is still a lot of work to do. I have been telling the boys to guard against complacency.

Makarati added that the Glamour Boys will not sit back to defend their narrow 1-0 lead, saying such a strategy would be unwise.
Instead, they plan to take the game to the Batswana, aiming to “score a goal to finish them off.”

Kadonzvo, who netted from just outside the box in the 87th minute, was sent on during the 75th minute for Emmanuel Paga.
Dynamos displayed a commanding performance, backed by a significant number of fans from Botswana, as well as those who travelled from Zimbabwe.
Among the attendees were former Highlanders coach Mandla Mpofu and former striker Zenzo Moyo, both based in Botswana.

Due to the lack of a CAF-approved stadium for international matches in Zimbabwe, the Glamour Boys will continue to play “home away from home.”
Previously, Dynamos utilised the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana, for their first preliminary tie against Zambian side ZESCO United, which they won 1-0 on aggregate last month.
For their upcoming match against Orapa United, Dynamos will play at the Obedi Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, as the National Stadium is currently unavailable due to ongoing refurbishment.
Similarly, Orapa United will also host Dynamos in Francistown, as they cannot use the National Stadium in Gaborone.
Dynamos will play the first leg away on September 14 at Obedi Itani Chilume, before “hosting” Orapa for the decisive match at the same venue a week later.
Dynamos CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze has formally notified ZIFA counterpart Yvonne Mapika Manwa of their chosen venue.
As this is a continental competition, CAF coordinates with clubs through their respective member associations, in this case, ZIFA. Wrote Mashingaidze:

DeMbare won the two-legged tie 1-0 on aggregate, following a goalless draw in the second leg played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia on Saturday.
Dynamos’ progression was secured thanks to midfielder Tanaka Shandirwa’s goal in the 30th minute of the first leg, which was played in Gaborone, Botswana.
After the second-leg stalemate, Dynamos coach Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe praised his team’s defensive resilience, which allowed them to protect the slender advantage gained in the first encounter. He said:

In both encounters it was not easy coming face-to-face with the built of ZESCO players but credit to the boys; they stuck to the game plan. We enjoy this victory because we fought hard for it.
What we worked on defensively was to deny them scoring opportunities. We had a lot of information on ZESCO and we managed to do just that over the two legs.

The Glamour Boys will now face Orapa United of Botswana in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup. Orapa United advanced by defeating Foresters FC of Seychelles.
