The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Matabeleland South Province Abednico Ncube has dismissed rumours that he is dead.
Rumours of Ncube’s alleged death from COVID-19 circulated on Saturday, prompting him to clarify the position, stating that he is recovering from a coronavirus infection. Said Ncube:
<blockquote>I am alive and recovering at home. I did contract COVID-19, I tested positive on 14 July 2021 and went into isolation thereafter.
I am taking my medication and following orders from health officials. I am not dead as rumours are saying.
I am much better. I am able to walk and eat and do many other things. I am doing what I was instructed to do like staying away from other people.
When the time comes (dying), it will happen, we all will die eventually.</blockquote>
The rumours came after ZANU PF provincial chairman Rabelani Choeni succumbed to the virus last week.

I Am Not Dead, But Recovering From COVID-19 - Abednico Ncube

Police in Bulawayo say they are finalising dockets for owners of the 140 vehicles that were impounded for defying COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube on Monday said the owners will appear in court in the coming days. Said Insp Ncube:
<blockquote>Some of these cars have offences with the Vehicle Inspectorate Department and the city council so we are compiling the dockets so that they can start attending court.
The process will be long as we have a huge number of impounded vehicles and we cannot produce documents at the same time.</blockquote>
Insp Ncube said the offenders will be gradually taken to court depending on which case comes first.
Some of the owners expressed displeasure with the slow process of reclaiming their vehicles and fear that they might find some parts missing when they are finally cleared.
On Monday police at Rose Camp briefed about 50 owners of the vehicles about the process that will lead to the clearance of their cars.
The ZRP said once dockets are compiled, drivers who were driving the vehicles will be taken to court.
The impounded vehicles go through a series of screening which will result in more dockets being opened for the offences.
Police warned owners that vehicles with no proper documentation will take longer to clear.
The government in March last year banned private public’ service operators as part of measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic but some vehicle owners defied the ban.

Impounded Vehicle Owners To Appear In Court Soon

Cases of ra+pe have increased in the country’s second-largest city, the Chronicle reports. This has even prompted ZRP to urge women to avoid walking alone in bushy areas around Bulawayo even in broad daylight.
Bulawayo Provincial ZRP spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube warned the public to be on the lookout for rap_ists and said:
<blockquote>On 24 January 2021 at around 3PM, the complainant was walking alone where she met the accused person who is unknown, a male adult with dreadlocks. The man grabbed the complainant by the neck, closed her mouth using his hands and dragged her into the bush without saying anything to her,” said Insp Ncube.
The accused person pushed the complainant to the ground, forced her to lie facing upwards, lifted her dress, pushed her pants aside and rap*ed her once without protection. After the r*ape, the accused person fled leaving the complainant lying on the ground.
Police attended the scene; the accused person was not located and investigations are in progress. Complainant was referred to Mpilo Hospital for medical examination and we appeal to members of the public to avoid using bushy foot paths as they may be at risk of being attacked and raped by criminals</blockquote>
Meanwhile, ZRP warned Harare Residents that armed robbery cases are on the rise and they have to be careful when traveling.

R_ape Cases Surge In Bulawayo

Firebrand MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has denied involvement in this week’s seizure of the MDC T headquarters Morgan Tsvangirai House, formerly Harvest House by the <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/28/mdc-t-youths-hand-over-harvest-house-to-mdc-alliance/">MDC T Youths who reportedly wanted to hand it over to the MDC Alliance</a>, The Daily News reports.
Speaking to the Daily News, Nelson Chamisa said he has no time for quislings (a traitor who collaborates with an enemy force occupying their country.) because he has a party to run. Said Chamisa:

<div>I have no time for quislings. I lead a political party, the MDC Alliance, and have no business in what is happening in other parties. They (the youths) want to drag me into issues of the MDC-T, but I really have no time for that. What has Chamisa got to do with Harvest House?</div>

Nelson Chamisa Distances Himself From Harvest House Takeover

ZRP in Bulawayo has reportedly arrested 2 teenagers Vusumuzi Moyo (17) and Nqabutho Moyo (18) after they allegedly murdered Jabulani Nyathi in a beer row in Umguza, New Zimbabwe reports.
The incident was confirmed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube who said the incident took place on 8 September. According to Inspector Ncube, the teenagers, the now-deceased, and their male friend who is a prison officer Khami prison complex canteen went out to drink:
<blockquote>The four drank beer until the canteen closed at around 2200 hours and they went to their friend’s house where they continued drinking beer until 0010 hours on 9 September 2020. On the same day at around 0030 hours, Vusumuzi, Nqabutho and the deceased left their friend’s home going to their place of residence.
However, while on their way home, a misunderstanding arose over an undisclosed issue which resulted in Nqabutho and Vusumuzi taking turns to assault the deceased with open hands and a sjambok several times all over the body.
The assault took place during different intervals along the way in a bushy area between Khami Prison complex and Richard Farm in Umguza. The now-deceased collapsed when they were about one kilometre from their place of residence. The accused persons left the now deceased lying on the side of the road. At about 0800 hours, Nqabutho went back to where they had left the deceased lying and found him dead.
The neighbour raised alarm and teamed up with other villagers, and apprehended Vusumuzi who was still sleeping in his room. Vusumuzi told the villagers that they had assaulted Jabulani Nyathi together with Nqabutho.</blockquote>

ZRP Arrests 2 Bulawayo Drunk Teenagers For Fatally Assaulting A Man

ZRP is looking for a Spring Farm in Bulawayo’s caretaker who reportedly beat his wife to death, The Chronicle reports. Herbert Mthimkhulu allegedly assaulted his wife Nokwanda Dube with a garden hose till her death after his relative told him she was cheating on him. Mthimkhulu has been on the run since 8 August when the incident occurred.
According to the publication:
<blockquote>Mthimkhulu is said to had travelled to Gwanda and on his return was informed about his wife’s extra marital affair. He is said to have summoned his wife to his younger brother’s home within the same compound and savagely assaulted her using a hose.
Mthimkhulu is said to have stopped beating her after intervention from members of the public. Mthimkhulu left his brother’s residence and continued to beat her up at their home. Dube is said to have sustained deep cuts and blisters all over her body as a result of the assault.</blockquote>
Bulawayo ZRP spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube shed more light on the incident as he was confirming its occurrence when he said:
<blockquote>…Upon arrival she found deceased sleeping on a mattress wearing only tights looking too weak. The now deceased asked the informant to prepare porridge for her while requesting to be assisted to visit the toilet. Dube also asked, the informant to help dress her up as she had been beaten up again. She showed her injuries on her thighs and hands but before she could tell the informant more, the accused ordered her to stop talking.</blockquote>

Robbers are reportedly targeting parked cars in Bulawayo CBD as they are breaking into stationery vehicles stealing people’s belongings in their absence or daringly robbing them at gunpoint, The Chronicle reports.
A robbery syndicate is reportedly targeting cars in front of shops and supermarkets and ZRP has made some arrests but they could not give the exact figure of the suspects arrested.
One of the victims who was robbed by the notorious robbers in the CBD, Mr Tarinda a forex dealer narrated how his ordeal and said:
<blockquote>Two of the robbers got out of their car armed with a pistol and rifle and smashed the window of my car on the driver’s side. They forced open the door and dragged me out of the car and demanded money.
…tried to wrestle with one of the suspects who was armed with a pistol but four others got out of the Honda Fit, opened the rear door of his car and took a small bag containing US$2 800 and R3 500.</blockquote>
3 suspects are in custody over the robbery. In yet another incident, Mr Pardon Pakamani lost close to $10 000 USD after a robber who was caught on CCTV smashed the window of Mr Pakamani’s car and stole a laptop, US$9 000, R11 200 and $3 500.
Bulawayo ZRP Spokesperson Chief Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incidences and urged motorists to remove all valuables from parked cars and said:
<blockquote>They target mostly unattended cars parked in the central business district. These gangs usually park behind or near their targeted victims’ vehicles before they smash door glasses and steal money and valuables.
Almost every week we are arresting some gangs linked to these syndicates, but we are concerned that they continue to mushroom. Although we are accounting for these criminals and impounding their cars, the numbers are not conclusive</blockquote>

Kombie operators in Bulawayo have taken advantage of the reduced police roadblocks in urban areas to illegally ferry passengers that are usually stranded because Zupco is overwhelmed by demand and cant ferry all passengers on time, The Chronicle reports.
According to the publication, illegal kombies are back in their usual pickup points in Bulawayo and they are charging between $7 and $10 per trip.
The advent of the illegal kombies in the city was confirmed by the Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube who said:
<blockquote>We are still on lockdown as was announced by our national leaders. This means that anyone who is supposed to stay at home should remain at home as they have not been exempted. This applies to pirate taxi operators that are seemingly getting back to the streets.
They were operating illegally before the national lockdown and are still operating illegally. Therefore, police would want to warn them that anyone found on the wrong side of the law will be arrested
We have observed that members of the public seem to be encouraging these pirate taxis to be back on the streets. Instead of waiting for transport at designated pickup points they have flooded major roads leading to suburbs waiting to board unregistered taxi operators’ vehicles.</blockquote>
Inspector Ncube said that people boarding the kombies were doing so illegally:
<blockquote>If we arrest a pirate taxi operator, a commuter in the same vehicle will be charged for being an accomplice to the crime. So, we urge members of the public to abide by the laws of the country and complement authorities as we fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Residents should not just comply with regulations for police and other security forces but to protect their lives</blockquote>

2 men in Bulawayo stole a wristwatch in Montrose Bulawayo valued at US$20 000 and sold it on the streets for an equivalent of US$0.80, The Chronicle reports.
The matter came to light when the 2 were arrested for selling stolen property, ZRP recovered the stolen watch which Cuthbert Munyandi and Joseph Gamuchirai Nyasha has sold to a resident of Bulawayo’s Sizinda suburb who also didn’t know the value of the Cartier watch.
The arrest of the duo and the subsequent recovery of stolen property was confirmed by Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube who said:
<blockquote>Unlike most of the house break-in incidents that we are used to, the two suspects who are friends were raiding homes during the day. They would monitor houses and once occupants leave, they would break into the homes and steal mostly electric gadgets. Of interest, in one of the raids in Montrose suburb they got away with a Cartier wristwatch worth US$20 000 and sold it for $30 on the streets
Most of the recovered property had already been sold to residents in Western suburbs of Nketa and Sizinda where the duo lived. As police, we want to warn residents to avoid buying second hand property especially from dubious characters who cannot even offer a receipt for the property they would be selling. Those who continue to buy stolen property risk being arrested as accomplices to the theft crimes. It is not an excuse for the public to claim that they did not know that the property was stolen</blockquote>

2 Bulawayo Thieves Steal A US$20 000 Watch & Sell It For ZWL $30 - Report

ZANU PF Youth League in Matebeleland South Province has donated 280 litres of hand sanitisers to the province, a development that will see each district in that province receiving 40 litres of the sanitisers.
The handover of the sanitiners to Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs Minister, Abednico Ncubeto was made on Wednesday by the league’s provincial youth chairman, Washington Nkomo.
Handing over the donation, Nkomo said that the gesture was motivated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s emphasis on the importance of practising hygiene as one of the measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. H added:
<blockquote>As the Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Youth League we realised that we had a role to play considering that some people don’t have access to the hand sanitisers.
We then saw if fit that we mobilise these hand sanitisers which we are handing over to the province.
We are working on mobilising face masks and as soon as they are ready, we will hand them over to the province as well.</blockquote>
Abednico Ncube applauded them for taking an active role in fighting Covid-19. He urged other stakeholders to help in any means possible to stop the pandemic which “doesn’t care about colour, race, tribe or political affiliation.”

ZRP in Bulawayo yesterday arrested 115 people for not wearing masks in public after the government enacted a law that criminalises not wearing a mask in public following the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, The Chronicle reports.
The arrests were confirmed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube who said;
<blockquote>We arrested 115 people, most of them for issues to do with wearing of masks. We are enforcing a law announced by President Mnangagwa that people must be wearing masks at all times if outside of their homes. We are seeing some people displaying masks but not wearing them. If one is in public places, the mask must be covering your nose and mouth, and it must not be hanging on your chin or just on your forehead, or in your handbag. It must be worn
So, we are arresting all those people with masks but not wearing them, and those without. We are flexible on what people are using as masks. We just want the mouth and nose covered that is all. People can improvise and use what is available but they must be covered when not at home.</blockquote>
ZIMA Secretary-General Dr Sacrifice Chirisa reportedly said if worn correctly homemade masks are safe to use.

A suspected group of thieves in one night in Bulawayo stole a total of 60 taps in Njube suburb, Sunday News reports.  The incident reportedly occurred on Friday night and was confirmed by the Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube who said:
<blockquote>Investigations are in progress and we believe the thieves could be people who live within the community so we urge those that might have information which might assist the police solve the crimes to come forward.</blockquote>
People reportedly woke up to find their taps missing the following day and according to Inspector Ncube, only 8 residents have reported the midnight raid that was allegedly targeting brass taps.

Pushcart operators have reportedly returned to Bulawayo’s CBD in clear breach of the government imposed lockdown, The Chronicle reports. The Chronicle spoke to some of the operators and they said they could not stay at home any longer because they needed to earn money to buy food.
The publication spoke to many pushcart operators who said they hire the pushcarts from a family in Makokoba for $10 a day. Operators said they make between $60 to $100 which they complained is too little as they have families to feed on the little they make.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed their presence in the CBD and said they were breaking the law:
<blockquote>They are not supposed to operate. That means they are the group that fails to comply but most get arrested. We, however, encourage people to stay at home not for fear of arrest but due to a clear understanding of the lockdown and the danger posed by the pandemic</blockquote>

Hunger Forces Pushcart Operators To Return To Bulawayo CBD Despite The Lockdown

Bulawayo Police yesterday arrested 48 people who had congregated at a local church in clear violation of the lockdown restrictions imposed by the government to try and curb spreading COVID-19, ZimLive reports.
48 members of the Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide Revelation in Tshabalala in Bulawayo were taken to a local police station where they were given an option either to pay a $500 fine or spend 2 months in jail.
According to Inspector Abednico Ncube of Bulawayo police, the church members professed ignorance of the restrictions and said they thought that gatherings of below 100 people were permitted.
Zimbabwe is in its 5th week of the COVID-19 lockdown that started on 30 March 2020 following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Bulawayo Police Arrests 48 Christ Apostolic Church Members For Breaching Lockdown Restrictions

Cases of housebreaking are on the rise in Bulawayo while theft from motor vehicle cases have fallen.
This was revealed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube in an interview with the Chronicle. He said:
<blockquote>Between the months of January and July in 2018, we received reports of 2 280 cases of unlawful entry and housebreaking.
The number shot to 2 391 cases in 2019. We, therefore, realised a 110 per cent increase.
In 2018 we attended to 1 279 cases of theft from motor vehicles between January and July. However, the number has gone down to 972 cases within the same period this year.
At this time I cannot give an exact figure on the number of people arrested in connection with the cases.
However, what I can state is that for most of the cases, arrests have been made with positive identification and some people have even recovered stolen property.</blockquote>
Assistant Inspector Ncube commended citizens for helping police by volunteering information.
He also advised members of the public to secure homes, cars and other property and to stay on the lookout for suspicious activity. He added:
<blockquote>We encourage residents to secure properties and to be alert for any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
Report strangers who mill around aimlessly in your area. We encourage the public to keep on sharing information with us as it helps us to unravel a lot of cases.</blockquote>

Police in Bulawayo are investigating two cases of armed robbery which occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday in the city’s CBD.
According to Bulawayo acting police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, the first incident involved a motorist who was forced to surrender $500 at knife-point, while the second was of a fast foods outlet employee who was accosted by robbers along Lobengula Street. Said Inspector Ncube:
<blockquote>We are investigating two robbery cases that occurred in the city’s CBD on Wednesday night.
The first case occurred near a hotel situated along Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street between 11th and 12th Avenue.
The victim claimed that he drove to the hotel at about 1 AM and soon after parking his car two unknown men approached him from nowhere and demanded cash from him.
He said the two assailants produced a knife and placed it on his neck and threatened to slit his throat if he did not comply with their orders.
Their victim handed them $500 before they vanished.
The second victim is an employee of one of the fast food outlets who was walking home. 
When he reached the mentioned street, he met two male adults who manhandled him. They assaulted him with a plank while confiscating his property.
Alert officers who were conducting night patrols observed the crime being committed and reacted to it leading to the suspects escaping.
However, they managed to give chase and arrested one of the suspects who is assisting police with investigations</blockquote>

Locals Commended For Investing In Gwanda

A Bulawayo woman allegedly killed her 4-year-old dumb daughter after she gave her a herb to help her gain speech.
The girl’s father Mr Mbuso Ncube, reported his wife, Mrs Lindiwe Ncube of Mzilikazi suburb, to the police leading to her arrest.
Ncube got the herbal concoction from a traditional healer based in Makokoba, suburb, Ms Senzeni Jiyane (59), popularly known as Gogo Majiyane, who specialises in children’s illnesses.
The little girl complained of severe stomach pains after ingesting the “medicine” and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where she passed away a few hours after admission.
Police confirmed the incident. Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said:
<blockquote>I can confirm that we are investigating a murder case where a four-year-old girl died after drinking a traditional concoction. The woman who supplied the concoction (Jiyane) is in police custody and is assisting with investigations.</blockquote>
Mrs Lindiwe Ncube and Senzeni Jiyane face a murder charges.

Herbal Medicine Kills 4-year-girl In Mzlikazi, Bulawayo

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has impounded over 100 pirates taxes in a blitz aimed at restoring order in the transport sector within the Bulawayo’s CBD.
The clampdown against the “mushikashika” vehicles was carried out over the past weekend.
The pirate taxes are said to have forced registered commuter omnibuses plying the City to Montrose, Burnside, Nkulumane, Luveve and Mahatshula routes respectively to move elsewhere.
ZRP Bulawayo Deputy Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube revealed that most of the pirate taxis, especially Toyota Vitz and Honda Fit models, are either mounted with fake number plates or have no number plates at all.
Bulawayo had received 75 buses under the government urban mass transportation system which started in Harare a fortnight ago.

In an interview with The Chronicle, Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Abednico Ncube confirmed President Mnangagwa is expected to visit his province on Friday to launch command agriculture at  Gwanda Show Grounds and a rally at Phelandaba Stadium.
Ncube said Mnangagwa will handover about 600 cattle to A1, A2 and communal farmers. Said Ncube:
<blockquote>We are excited to be hosting President Emmerson Mnangagwa who will be visiting our province on Friday. He is expected to launch the command agriculture programme where he will also handover about 600 cattle to A1, A2 and communal farmers at the Gwanda Show Grounds. He will thereafter address a rally at Phelandaba Stadium. The command livestock programme is very important for our farmers because our province is partly dependent on livestock farming.</blockquote>
Zanu PF Matabeleland South chairman, Rabelani Choeni said they are expecting about 40 000 people to attend the rally at Phelandaba Stadium. On Saturday Mnangagwa will address a rally in Bulawayo dubbed “the spark that led to the new dispensation.”

Mnanagagwa Visits Matabeleland South Province On Friday

Vice President Kembo Mohadi disclosed that a Zanu-PF candidate who won the primary elections in Matabeleland South was disqualified for using his Facebook account to denigrate the party and its leadership.
Mohadi’s comments come after <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/06/06/mnangagwa-ally-abednico-ncube-to-contest-in-election-despite-losing-primary-election/">ZBC announcer Omphile Marupi was replaced by Mnangagwa ally and Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs minister Abednico Ncube as Zanu-PF’s candidate in Gwanda South</a>. Marupi told NewsDay that he was given no reason as to why he was replaced. Said Mohadi:
<blockquote>In Matabeleland South, one of the winning candidates was last week disqualified after it was realised that he was using his Facebook account to denigrate the party and its leadership. However, I want to make it clear that there is no longer any time for primary elections. Let us accept the results and move forward.</blockquote>

Zanu-PF Candidate Disqualified For Denigrating Mnangagwa On Facebook

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ally Abednico Ncube who lost the Gwanda South Zanu-PF primary election to ZBC announcer Omphile Marupi will represent the ruling party in the July 30 elections.  Ncube refused to talk to NewsDay. However, Marupi confirmed the matter saying,
<blockquote>Man, I am out. No reasons were given. There is something someone is hiding, but it will come out in the open</blockquote>
Ncube who is also the Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs minister lost the primary election after garnering 1180 votes to Marupi’s 1 284 votes. Ncube appealed the results and has seemingly been imposed in the province.

Mnangagwa Ally Abednico Ncube To Contest In Election Despite Losing Primary Election

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will visit Matabeleland South Province on Saturday where he will tour Tulimanyange Dam site in Ntepe area, Gwanda South, and a proposed irrigation project near Zhove Dam in Beitbridge. Mnangagwa will also address Zanu-PF supporters.
In an interview with The Chronicle, Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs Minister Abednico Ncube confirmed Mnangagwa’s visit. The projects have not yet started and Ncube hopes Mnangagwa’s visit will see them commence. Said Ncube:
<blockquote>We are excited to be hosting President Emmerson Mnangagwa who will be visiting our province. He will visit the proposed Tulimanyange dam site where he will address people from the entire province in Ntepe. Mnangagwa To Visit Matabeleland South Province On Saturday

Addressing Zanu-PF supporters at Nhwali village in Gwanda South on Wednesday, Matabeleland South  Provincial Affairs Minister, Abednico Ncube said former president Robert Mugabe cannot be trusted because he changes sides easily.
Ncube said Mugabe’s support of Ambrose Mutinhiri’s National Patriotic Front (NPF) shows that he is unrepentant and power hungry. Said Ncube:
<blockquote>You see Robert Mugabe, he recently formed a small party of his called the NPF that is composed of those G40 members who wanted to destroy the revolutionary party. This shows that he is a person who can never be trusted because of changing sides so easily. These are the same people who have caused suffering in this country and they want to lead the people again. Mugabe was removed from office by ordinary Zimbabweans and here comes Mutinhiri, a sell-out, to lead a party that is backed by such kind of person which shows they have their own motive other than championing the aspirations of the masses.</blockquote>

Matabeleland South Minister Attacks Mugabe, Says He Cannot Be Trusted

Traditional chiefs were left stranded at a local hotel after they failed to get fuel to return to their respective homes after attending a two-day Chiefs council meeting in Harare.
The hotel also ordered them to check out to pave way for new guests after their stay had expired. This saw some milling around the hotel while officials from the Ministry of Rural Development and Preservation of Culture and Heritage who were supposed to assist them were not available. In an interview with The Herald, Chiefs council president Fortune Charumbira confirmed the incident. Said Charumbira:
<blockquote>Yes, it is true that some of our members were stranded because they failed to get resources like fuel to go back to their respective homes. We had to assist some of them from our pockets because the situation was becoming embarrassing. We tried to call officials from our Ministry, but their phones were either unreachable or went unanswered, we do not really know what was happening. You really cannot blame the hotel staff for that. The situation was bad. Some of them had to go to their relatives while we managed to help others from our pockets</blockquote>

Chiefs stuck at local hotel after failing to get fuel

Binga ward 17 councillor, Themba Tonse Tukanjile Kujulu Munkombwe (MDC-T) is set to appear before a tribunal on 25 September for fraud. He is facing allegations of abusing $4 103 raised under the Communal Areas Management Programme for Indigenous Resources (Campfire) to benefit the community.
Rural Development Minister Abednico Ncube is cited as the complainant while Munkombwe is cited as the defendant in the matter. Ncube suspended Munkombwe for breach of section 278 of the Constitution and the Local Government Amendment Act for abuse of funds meant for the Campfire project by taking unsanctioned trips to Harare. Both were notified of the hearing date.

MDC-T councillor set to appear before tribunal for fraud

Responding to a question by Harare Central legislator Murisi Zwizwai who had asked if government intends to buy vehicles for chiefs and headmen before the 2018 elections, Rural Development minister Abednico Ncube revealed that government has already bought cars for 226 traditional chiefs.
Said Ncube:
<blockquote>It is already something in the pipeline. Let me just assure you that very shortly our chiefs will be given cars.  At least we have 226 registered chiefs … So, do not worry…Madam Speaker, something is in the pipeline.  We are through with the Minister of Finance and Economic Development.</blockquote>
However independent legislator for Norton Temba Mliswa asked why government was only buying cars for 226 chiefs when the country has 2800. His question was not responded to as the deputy speaker overruled it saying she had not recognised him among those she had allowed to ask questions.
