Zimbabwean musician and actress <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Ammara_Brown">Ammara Brown</a> believes “marriage is overrated” and that she refused to get married because she knew she wouldn’t be happy.
Speaking during an interview with local radio station, StarFM, Ammara also gave an insight into her late parents’ marriage.
She claimed she was grateful that her late parents divorced as the marriage was affecting her as a child.
Ammara is the daughter of the late Andy Brown and Soraya Khan who divorced when she was 11. She said, as quoted by <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/marriages-are-overrated-says-ammara/">H-Metro</a> as saying:

Kugarira vana, marriages are more draining for the kids.
I thank God my parents divorced, their marriage was not healthy. I saw too much, I saw things I should not have seen.
I had convinced myself that I had dreamt about certain things, as a child I couldn’t really process that some of these things were not happening.
</blockquote>
She stated that the reason why women are unhappy in marriages is that men always insist on being “the head of the household”. She said:

I did learn that it is very important for people to be happy in their relationships so when I was offered marriage at some point I refused.
I was like no because I knew I wouldn’t be happy.
The reason was that men always preach about them being the head of the household.

The 35-year-old songwriter was born Ammara Nury Brown on September 6, 1988, to Andy Brown and Soraya Khan in Harare.
She is the second born of her father’s 10 children and the first between her mom and dad.
Ammara’s parents divorced in 1994, after which she moved with her mother to the USA at age 10 for four years. She studied at Alameda High School between 2002 and 2003.
On her return to Zimbabwe, she studied at Westridge High School where she completed her high schooling.

Marriage Is Overrated, Says Ammara Brown

Musician, songwriter, and actress, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ammara_Brown">Ammara Brown</a>, has been nominated for the prestigious African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) 2022 (USA).
Brown was nominated for the Best Female Southern African Musician category alongside Gemma Griffiths.
This is the fifth time she has been nominated. In 2018, she won the award for Best Female Artist at the African Muzic Magazine Awards.
Speaking during an interview with <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/ammara-feels-the-love-songbird-nominated-for-big-award/">H-Metro</a> Brown said she was grateful to be nominated for the awards again. She said:

This year we were nominated in Dallas, Texas. I am grateful that my Ammartians get to vote for AFRIMMAS.
It feels super awesome to be surrounded by excellent peers.
I love winning, I love women, and I love winning alongside other women.
This year has been amazing for me, becoming Brand Ambassador for India’s Parul University was a great way to kick off the year.
As the year unfolded I’ve had an incredible time working with NGOs such as Population Solutions for Health (PSH), Swedish Embassy, and the EU, against GBV.

Zimbabwean Afro-Pop songbird Ammara Brown has placed herself under self-quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure after arriving back in the country on Wednesday from South Africa.
Ammara was a guest judge at the Old Mutual Amazing Voices show held in Johannesburg with the objective of unearthing singing talent across gospel, pop and rhythm and blues genres.
Speaking to NewsDay on Thursday, Ammara’s manager, Chido Musasiwa, said that the musician was in self-quarantine as a precautionary measure as South Africa has recorded an increased number of COVID-19 cases. Musasiwa said:
<blockquote>We have placed Ammara in self-quarantine for 14 days where we will be assessing her health and temperature, but this is just a precautionary measure because she was in South Africa which is recording high cases of coronavirus.
It’s not that we are suspecting that she might have come into contact with infected people, but it’s just a precautionary measure because where she was, she was safe and there were a few people living with her, but it’s just that at airports there are a lot of people. And after the 14 days we will see what happens.</blockquote>
South Africa has the highest number of coronavirus cases in Africa after confirmed cases surpassed the 700 mark this week.

Ammara Brown Under Self-Quarantine

Kayse Connect, the organisers of the Burna Boy Harare Concert, have said that they are contemplating postponing the show over concerns of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nigerian superstar was expected to perform at Hellenic Sports Club alongside Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Ammara Brown and Asaph on April 17. In a statement, Kayse Connect said:
<blockquote>As Kayse Connect, we acknowledge the Coronavirus which has affected livelihoods and taken lives. We put health and safety first above all else and as such, we’re in constant communication with all stakeholders involved.
We’ll announce soon should there be any changes to the position of the concert date. Tickets are still on sale.</blockquote>
Although Zimbabwe has not registered a single case of the virus, the rise in the number of affected people in neighbouring South Africa has inculcated great fear in members of the public.
Authorities are also mulling plans to ban all public gatherings which they fear may result in the spread of the virus.

Honorable Ringo, Black Motion, DJ Zinhle and Zimbabwe’s Mokoomba will this year grace the much-hyped Jacaranda festival Daily News reports. The festival will be held at Hellenics sports club from the 3rd to the 5th of October 2019.
According to The Director of the festival Walter Wanyanya local artists to perform include:

Ammara Brown’s Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) concert initially scheduled for September 28 has been pushed to November 30 due to the obtaining cholera outbreak in the capital.
The venue and the line-up of musicians remain unchanged.
Statement from Ammara’s Management reads:

Ammara, Mr Eazi Concert Moved To November

Ammara Brown’s sister Chengeto gave birth to a baby boy Zion.
Ammara did not perform at  the ‘Change A Life’ benefit concert held over the weekend at Wingate Golf Club to attend to her sister. Ammara told Gem Nation that she had to cancel the concert to be her sister’s labour coach. Said Ammara:
<blockquote>For me family comes first and I wouldn’t give up anything for that and as a mother I had to be there for my sister as a labour coach. I wouldn’t have missed the birth of my nephew for anybody, It’ just who I am.</blockquote>
She also said she is giving back the money she was paid to perform at the concert and top it up with another US$1000 for charity. Ammara was expected to perform alongside South Africa’s Nasty C, Jah Prayzah, ExQ and Takura.

Ammara Brown's Sister Chengeto Gives Birth

Zimbabwean songstress Ammara Brown has released Svoto featuring Nigerian singer Mr Eazi.
The duet is a love song where two lovers are saying their lover is nobody’s business. The song is the first single off Ammara’s upcoming release, Ammartia 2.0. The album is a deluxe edition of her debut album Ammartia and is expected to feature Patoranking.
Beginning in Harare at the HICC this September the 28th, Ammara Brown kicks off her SADC Tour through Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique, Lesotho and Namibia.

In a Facebook post, Tsungi Zvobgo announced that she is no longer Ammara Brown’s manager. She said Ammara is now being managed by Don Khabana of OCM Management based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Tsungi Zvobgo Parts Ways With Ammara Brown

Popular Zimbabwean entertainers Ammara Brown, ExQ, Stunner, Tocky Vibes, Charlie Kay and Trevor Dongo are travelling to the UK to perform at the <a href="https://www.theo2.co.uk/events/detail/zim-connect">Zim Connect ’18 Live Music Concert</a>.
The concert is scheduled to take place on 24 February at 6PM at indigo at The O2.

Military Touch Movement releases video for "Chekeche" ft Ammara Brown & Pokello

Military Touch Movement has released the video to their song chekeche. The video features Military Touch Movement artists; Ex-Q, Nutty O, Jah Prayzah, Andy Muridzo, Tahle Wedzinza as well as socialite Pokello  Nare, musician Ammara Brown. The video to the DJ Tamuka and Daniel Chiwedah produced track was directed by Vusa Blaqs.

Local music star Ammara Brown has encouraged her fellow artists to make full use of social media in order to enhance their labels and earn more.  Speaking on ZiFM Ammara said:
<blockquote>Every artist has to consider the fact that their offline work impacts their online work,
When I say offline I mean the work that they do behind the scenes and performances feeds into the talk that people have about you online</blockquote>

Ammara Brown urges local artists to make full use of social media

Unheralded, film and video director Vusa Hlatshwayo, commonly known as Vusa Blaqs, said he was happy shooting ExQ and Ammara video’s ‘‘Bhachura’’ on less than $100.
The video is said to have cost about $1 200. Blaqs is also the man behind the recent much talked video of Ammara Brown and her sister Chengeto —“What you want”. He, however, didn’t want to share how much he got. Blaqs said:
<blockquote>The ‘Bhachura’ video cost about $1 200 but that is not to say that is how much I got. I invested all the money back into the project. I got less than $100. My base charge is $1 000. I can’t say artistes are undermining film directors, on this one was my choice. Some artistes though do undermine directors and I usually hold discussions prior to the deal and reading their minds so they understand the value of their money. As for how much I got on ‘What you want’ video, I can’t disclose.</blockquote>

Film & video director reveals how much he got for ExQ & Ammara's video

[NEW VIDEO] Ammara Brown & Chengeto - Wachu Want

Zimdancehall star, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Tocky_Vibes">Tocky Vibes</a> and <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ammara_Brown">Ammara Brown</a> were left stranded in South Africa after their promoter “disappeared” before settling their dues. <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Fungisai_Zvakavapano">Fungisayi Zvakavepano Mashavave</a> confirmed  reports that they had been left stranded in the neighbouring country but said she was not affected as she had separate arrangements.
Tocky Vibes’ manager Elvis Bokosha spoke to NewsDay and said:
<blockquote>The promoter failed to pay us our money as promised. Tocky did not perform because of that. We had to use our money for his accommodation and transport. As for other artistes, I do not know and I cannot comment on their behalf.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Ammara’s manager, Tsungi Zvobgo, was not keen to comment on the matter although she promised to release a Press statement yesterday, but had not done so at the time of NewsDay going to print last night.
