The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Apostolic_Faith_Mission_in_Zimbabwe">Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM)</a> has resolved to hold all its National Conferences as per the Church’s calendar of events.
Earlier this week, AFM leadership notified congregants that the Youth Conference that was scheduled to be held at Rufaro Conference Centre in Masvingo in April had been postponed due to financial constraints.
But in another notice issued on Wednesday, 01 March 2023, AFM president Amon Madawo said the church will launch fundraising initiatives to ensure that all National Conferences go ahead as scheduled. He said:

We are glad to advise that… following intensive engagements and arrangements made by the Church Leadership and its departments on the state of the church and… following discussions on sustainable fund-raising initiatives…
The National Executive Board has reconsidered its decision and all National Conferences will go ahead as per the Church’s calendar of events.
Details on how our conferences and fundraising will proceed will be communicated by the National Management Committee and the relevant departments.
All church members are encouraged to participate in the fundraising initiatives and to attend the conferences for our spiritual fellowship.

AFM In Zimbabwe Reverses Decision To Postpone Youth Conference

The Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM) held the Greater Harare Conference at the Glamis Arena from 21 to 23 October 2022 during which the church’s president Reverend <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Amon_Madawo">Amon Madawo</a> called for Reconciliation, Healing and Unity amongst members of the church and the nation at large. The president of the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Apostolic_Faith_Mission_in_Zimbabwe">Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM)</a>, Reverend <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Amon_Madawo">Amon Madawo</a> Saturday 22 October 2022 said his church was not at war with the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/AFM_of_Zimbabwe">AFM of Zimbabwe</a> led by Reverend Cossam Chiangwa.
AFM of Zimbabwe <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/06/15/afm-president-madawo-moves-to-bar-chiangwa-from-using-name-logo-symbols/">was formed in May 2021</a> after the Chiangwa-led faction <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/05/28/supreme-court-upholds-high-court-ruling-in-afm-saga/">lost a court case</a> which followed a prolonged leadership wrangle that was triggered by the amendment of the church’s Constitution.
Speaking on Saturday at the Greater Harare Conference held at the Glamis Arena from 21 to 23 October 2022, AFM president, Madawo called for Reconciliation, Healing and Unity amongst members of the church and the nation at large.
He urged church members to desist from “selfish agendas that affect the body of Christ,” adding that every member of the AFM church must act in a way that promotes peace, family unity, and love for the Lord, country, and church.
He also urged the gathering to keep praying for Zimbabwe. He said:

We’re not at war with anyone. Let’s pray for them and keep loving them…
Greater city conferences like this one, are intended to bring about revival, healing and to realign the church to focus on its core business of winning souls to Christ, which is the main mission of the church. We’ve so far managed to hold three city conferences namely, Greater Manicaland, Greater CHivhu and Greater Bulawayo. 
These conferences have gone a long way to bring restoration, reconciliation, healing and revival in the church. This trajectory will continue until we finish all our provinces. Come March 2023 we will be meeting or we’ll be having the Greater Midlands Conference.

Also speaking at the event that was graced by Harare Mayor, Councillor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jacob_Mafume">Jacob Mafume,</a> Father Moyo leader of the Catholic Churches in Zimbabwe applauded AFM “for winning souls to God”. 
He, however, bemoaned divisions among Christians which he said were dividing the body of Christ.
Moyo said there was a need for unity and dialogue adding that individuals, inducing church leaders must prioritise uplifting the name of God, and not theirs.

Rev Amon Madawo Says AFM In Zimbabwe Is Not At War With AFM Of Zimbabwe

The president of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe, Bishop Amon Dubie Madawo, has demanded the unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the United States and its allies arguing that the economic restrictions are hurting ordinary people.
James O’Brien, the U.S. State Department’s sanctions coordinator, <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/us-official-blames-zimbabwes-economic-decline-on-corruption-not-sanctions/">recently said Zimbabwe’s economic decline was caused by corruption and bad economic policies, and not by sanctions.</a>
He said the U.S.and other Western nations imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe in response to election rigging and human rights abuses.
But speaking during an interview with <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/sanctions-must-go-afm-president/">The Manica Post</a>, Madawo said sanctions are a form of punishment imposed on Zimbabwe after Harare embarked on the land reform programme to redistribute national resources equitably. Madawo said:

The church, as an agent, can comment on anything. It has its own voice on this sanctions story because they are affecting the generality of Zimbabweans.
They are an albatross around the neck of Christians and the generality of the population.
There is misinformation that the sanctions are targeted at certain individuals, yet their debilitating impact is affecting all of us. They are affecting the whole nation.
Their victims are innocent people whom we preach to every day and these are people who are not in decision-making positions.
These sanctions are not helping but hurting the people of Zimbabwe. Our country and economy could be doing much better without them.
We cannot secure credit lines and foreign direct investments as a result of these sanctions, meaning they are stifling economic growth.
As church leaders, we are saying the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe must be removed.
It is not wrong for us to demand our liberty in terms of our land, economy and democratic space.
The people of Zimbabwe cannot be subjected to this kind of torture and suffering simply because they took back their land and corrected the racially-induced disproportionate distribution of national resources.
Zimbabwe is an independent nation that should attain its socio-economic self-actualisation. 
Historically, the land belonged to black people and it was taken away from us, so why should we be punished for correcting a historical injustice?
Why should we suffer for claiming back our land? These sanctions must be removed, they are not for any good to anyone.

Sanctions Are Hurting Christians, Says AFM President

The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe will hold the Greater Harare Conference this weekend from Friday to Sunday.
Greater Harare is made up of AFM In Zimbabwe congregants from Harare, Chitungwiza and Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Mashonaland West provinces.
Several top gospel artists, among them Mathias Mhere, Dorcas Moyo, Jonah Chivasa, Joyful Praise and the National Praise team, will perform at the event which will be held at Glamis Arena at the Exhibition Park.
AFM in Zimbabwe president Amon Madawo told <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/top-gospel-acts-for-afm-conference/">The Herald</a> that the main aim of the conference is to bring healing and revival to the members of the church. He said:

We have so far held Greater Manicaland, Greater Chivhu and Greater Bulawayo conferences.
March 2023 will see us holding Greater Midlands for all the congregants from Gokwe and surrounding areas and Midlands province at large.
The main thrust of these conferences is to bring part and parcel of healing and revival to the members of the AFM.
In addition, preparing the members and refocusing the church on her mission and mandate will be key.
Thus in addition brings the attention of the members to prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Madawo said the Bishop of Pentecostal Assemblies who is also in the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Bishop Never Muparutsa, will be the guest speaker.
He said AFM has also invited other church bodies as well as Government officials, the Harare City mayor and captains of industry.
The theme of the conference, “Impacting the World Through the Gospel of the Kingdom” which was derived from Matthew 24 verses 11-14 and Acts 1:8.

Dorcas Moyo To Perform At AFM Greater Harare Conference

An Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe pastor and his wife were allegedly kidnapped and held for five hours by a rival faction on 15 August.
Odzi assembly Pastor Daniel Veru told NewsDay that he was threatened with death if he failed to surrender church property as the wrangle to control AFM church between Amon Madawo and Cossam Chiangwa escalates.
He has since filed a report for kidnapping at Odzi Police Station under RRB4656105. Said Veru:

After the Supreme Court ruling, in which we won the right to control the church; we went to court so that Simbarashe Chizunza from Chiyangwa’s faction return our church property, Chizunza was ordered to return the property to me.
Chizunza complied and returned the property, but recently, when the government ordered that the churches should be reopened on August 15, I went to church with my wife so that we could reopen the church only to be shocked to see Chizunza and members of his faction camped at the church premises.
I was manhandled and kidnapped together with my wife. They held me captive for almost five hours; they told me never to set my foot at the church as they would kill me.
They forcibly took away keys to the church building and took musical instruments and chairs.

Madawo was recently declared the legitimate AFM leader by the Supreme Court, following a similar ruling by the High Court in 2019.

AFM Pastor Kidnapped, Threatened With Death By Rival Faction

Reverend Cossam Chiangwa who leads a faction in the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) has told his followers to remain calm saying his side was still in control of the church.
Pindula News Friday reported that the Supreme Court Friday upheld a High Court ruling on the AFM leadership crisis case noting that Reverend Amon Madawo who is backed by the immediate past president Aspher Madziyire was the legitimate leader of the church.
Chiangwa had appealed the High Court ruling but the higher court dismissed the application with costs.

In his appeal, Chiangwa was backed by Amon Chinyemba, Nathan Nhira, Shepherd Sebata, Donard Ndoni, Aurthur Nhambuko and M Mashumba.
Madawo was cited as the respondent in the court papers together with Munyaradzi Shumba, Madziyire, Tawanda Nyambirai, Clever Mupakaidzwa, Briton Tembo and Christopher Chemhuru.
The Supreme Court ruled that Chiyangwa’s group must reverse everything it did, return everything they took and must stop presenting themselves as the leadership of the church.
They were stopped from accessing or using any assets or property of any kind belonging to the church.
The group was also ordered to relinquish to the church, all and any property belonging to the church that is in possession or under control of the respondents.

AFM Saga: "We're In Control" - Defiant Chiangwa

The president of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe, Reverend Amon Madawo has said <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/05/28/supreme-court-upholds-high-court-ruling-in-afm-saga/">his side’s court victory</a> over the rival group led by Reverend Cossam Chiangwa was not because his side was holier than their counterparts.
Madawo said the verdict was for the sake of His (Jehovah) name. Pindula News previously reported that the Supreme Court upheld the High Court ruling that recognised Madawo’s side as the legitimate church leadership.

AFM Saga: Rev Madawo Speaks Following Court Victory

The internecine fighting for the control of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe took a dramatic twist on Friday as the church’s international president Reverand Frank Chikane threw his weight behind the discredited leadership of Reverend Amon Madawo.
Chikane jetted into the country on Thursday in a bid to reunite the two factions that have emerged in the church.  Reverend Dr Chikane came after an invitation from Madawo.
AFM in Zimbabwe recently split into two camps after Reverend Cossam Chiwanga established parallel church structures, with him as the president, while former president Aspher Madziyire backed the faction led by his close ally and former secretary general Madawo.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Chikane had this to say
<blockquote>We have been talking to all groups and want unity. We want one church in Zimbabwe that is united.
We have even talked to the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe and they have told us of their consternation at what is happening. We believe even ordinary Zimbabweans are worried that the fighting could affect the country.
We came here at the invitation of Reverend Madawo to unite the different groups. We do not want to lose any member and even those whose actions are technically unconstitutional. We still call upon them to return to the church. We have also talked to Pastor Cossum Chiyangwa and we will continue to discuss.</blockquote>
In a statement issued by AFM International secretary general George Mahlobo, Madawo’s election was above board. The statement read in part
<blockquote>Whereas the Workers Council on September 15, 2018, did not comply with the AFM International intervention report, it is our view that the 21st September 2018 Apostolic Council decision complied fully with the AFM International report,” Mahlobo said.
In light of this, all church structures that were formed on the basis of the decision of the 21st September 2018 are official in our view.</blockquote>
Mahlobo and Chikane both called for a cessation of hostilities in the local church
<blockquote>We are calling on all to open AFM buildings and facilities to all members of the church and the public. No one should hinder anyone from worshipping in any church of the AFM in Zimbabwe.
The leadership of the church in Zimbabwe has been urged to immediately begin reconciliation and healing at all levels of the church and normalise relations between the leadership including dropping all cross-disciplinary procedures against each other.
We discourage anyone within AFM in Zimbabwe and internationally to export the divisions and conflicts in Zimbabwe to AFM churches internationally.</blockquote>
