Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) president, Mike Chimombe, reportedly forked out US$2 000 to buy a CD of musician Andy Muridzo’s latest album titled “Zunza”.
The album was launched at Bar Rouge last Friday where Chimombe was the guest of honour at the event.
Chimombe encouraged Muridzo to maintain high standards and also urged musicians to diversify and find other avenues of generating money.
Muridzo, whose real name Kudzai Andrew Ngwenya, said he was humbled by Chimombe’s love for his band and music. He said:

I’m humbled by the gesture which shows that he is indeed a brother and loving man.
I first met him in 2017 and from there he has been buying music.
He is one person who has been supporting me privately.
When we invited him, we were shocked by his humility since he said he was available.
People of Chimombe’s calibre are hard to come by judging by their demanding schedules.
It was an honour having him around as he supported us on my special day.

Muridzo’s manager, Ronald “General” Mujuru, thanked fans for their support and pledged that the band will ensure that it will continue to meet their varied tastes. He said:

We tried our best to make sure that we give our fans variety so that they get to enjoy themselves.
As we promised, we fused a number of genres, including gospel, jiti, rhumba and museve in this album.
</blockquote>
The album comes with 12 tracks, plus a bonus one. Some of the trending tracks are “Neni”, “Shoko Remufi”, “Place Out There”, “Chatamba Chana”, “Hwahwa”, “Nyakasikana” and “Mwana Uyu”.

Chimombe Buys Andy Muridzo's New Album CD For US$2 000

Afro-Fusion singer Andy Muridzo says he will release his seventh album “Zunza” on Friday.
The album launch will be held at Bar Rouge, situated at Long Cheng Plaza in Harare.
“Baba Keketso”, as the singer is also known, said the 12-track album features a song called “Chihwerure”, a collaboration with Zim dancehall singer Shinsoman.
The other songs on the album, which Muridzo has been sampling during live gigs include “Zunza”, “Suzana”, “Hosana”, “Mutengambiri”, “Chatamba Chana” and “Hwahwa”. He said:

We are happy to be physically launching the album this time around on August 26. There is this vibe, and emotion which comes with playing in front of a packed auditorium.
The album is almost 100 per cent ready for release for our esteemed fans that we work for. They are the ones that decide if it is good or bad.
We noticed areas that needed attention from our previous album and we have since worked on it. We worked hard to try and come up with a flawless project.
Releasing an album comes with pressure, we have done our best and we are ready to give it to the fans

Suluman Chimbetu, Baba Harare, Virimai “Vee Mhofu” Nhedega, Carlos Green, Peter Moyo, Diana Samkange, Feli Nandi and Sasha are some of the artistes that are expected to grace the event.
Muridzo said he will not deviate much from the traditional sound that made his music popular in the early days. He said:

Lyrics may change; instruments improve but fans have that one thing that they need to identify you with every time which is what I try to always make sure they find in all my projects.
The target this time was to do better than before whilst at least meeting or surpassing expectations from our fans.

Andy Muridzo Set To Launch New Album

Musician Andy Muridzo, real name Kudzai Andrew Ngwenya, has indefinitely suspended his manager Onsimo Sain on allegations of mismanagement of funds, gross negligence, ill-treatment of the band and insubordination.
Muridzo wrote a letter to Sain, dated 21 April, advising him of his suspension and the allegations levelled against him. Part of the letter read:
<blockquote>
This note constitutes official notice of your suspension from Andy Muridzo &amp; Jeetaz Band because of your most recent actions which include mismanagement of funds, gross negligence, ill-treatment of the band and insubordination.
Your suspension is until further notice.
</blockquote>
Muridzo also outlined the terms of the suspension which include a ban on using the musician’s official social media platforms among other things. Reads the letter:

1) Unless contacted beforehand, you are not permitted to interfere with the administration of all Muridzo Fan groups with immediate effect.
2) You are not permitted to use the official social media platforms including email to correspond with fans and stakeholders.
3) We advise you to refrain from making any public comments about the Muridzo brand as this is beyond your role
4) Please make yourself available should we need further information from you.
I wish to reiterate that you should always remember your position, roles and responsibilities within the organisation, and you are expected to strongly adhere to the band’s policies and procedures.
If you have any questions regarding this suspension or if you have any important information that could shed further light on these allegations, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Andy Muridzo Suspends Manager Indefinitely

Afro-fusion singer Andy Muridzo and rapper Stunner (real name Desmond Chideme) are currently embroiled in verbal warfare after a fallout over a video shoot of the song “Tichaona”, a collaboration they released a couple of weeks ago.
The song was composed by Stunner. 
The two have worked together before, as Stunner featured on Andy Muridzo’s video “Zvipande” a couple of years back.
Andy Muridzo is now accusing Stunner of side-lining him from the video project calling Stunner a “lazy fraudster” who used him.
Muridzo argues he had every reason to be part of the video project just as much as he was “prioritised” during audio recording.
In the new video, “Tichaona”, Stunner goes it alone and only acknowledges Andy Muridzo through a credit that appears at the beginning of the video. Fumed Muridzo:

Stunner is a fraudster! How can he proceed to shoot a video without me after we did the song together? To be honest, he simply wants to gain mileage through my effort by not fully crediting me.
I gave him conditions for the video, which he ignored. If I was not important, why did he choose me for the audio recording?

The two musicians reportedly largely disagreed on the video format though they initially agreed to have some scenes shot in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The entire video was later shot in Mzansi.
Stunner, on the other hand, accuses Muridzo of being unprofessional. He said:

Andy (Muridzo) is a disorganised guy who cannot take his music career seriously. He is always drunk.
‘I chose to shoot the video without him after I failed to get him to commit on several occasions. He always stood me up each time I arranged to meet with him for logistics.
He is simply not serious! He needs to improve and be professional.

Even fellow singer ExQ, who previously worked with Muridzo during their stint with the Jah Prayzah-fronted Military Touch Movement (MTM), agrees with Stunner.
ExQ, said, “Andy is a cry baby and clearly lacks focus. He is always fighting with promoters and his fellow colleagues in the industry. I am not surprised by this development because I know him (Andy Muridzo) well. This is typical of him.

Stunner, Andy Muridzo "Fight" Over A Video Shoot

Afro-fusion musician, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Andy_Muridzo">Andy Muridzo</a>, has dismissed reports suggesting his wife, Chido Manyange, better known as Mai Keketso, is cheating.
The Dherira hitmaker said the rumours were being peddled by detractors who do not want “to see him happy”.
The couple reunited a few months ago after spending some time apart, during whichMuridzo publicly flirted with two different women on different occasions, both of whom he promised to marry.
Recent reports allege that Andy Muridzo recently got hold of steamy messages between Mai Keketso and his former manager.
And the reports further suggest that this is not the first time the talented singer has caught his wife offside. In fact, it is alleged that this was the reason they separated in the first place.
However, the musician said he was dumbfounded by the rumours. He said:

To be honest, I was shocked by the gossip. Those are just false and malicious statements being spread by my detractors. They are against my happiness and want to see me suffer.
I know some are wishing me bad, but I have no problem with my wife at the moment. We are enjoying every moment of our love life.

Mai Keketso said she was not in the least concerned by the rumours. She said:

Andy Muridzo Responds To Reports Saying He Caught Mai Keketso Cheating

President Emmerson Mnangagwa Thursday nodded to the resumption of live shows after they had been banned last year as a measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The president said the shows can resume on the condition that the number of attendees does not exceed the stipulated 50 people and adhere to all COVID-19 protocols.
He made the remarks at the State House in Harare where he also handed over musical equipment to Andy Muridzo and Chief Hwenje of the “ED Pfee” song.
Speaking at the same event, the Deputy Minister of Youths, Sport, Arts and Recreation, Tino Machakaire welcomed the development and implored artists not to abuse the privilege.

The instruments include a Public Address system, mixers, drum set and guitars.
The move comes after Selmor Mtukudzi, the daughter of the late music icon, Oliver Mtukudzi had made an appeal to the president to consider allowing artists to resume live shows.

Following months of inaction due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, popular musician Andy Muridzo has revealed that he turned to farming to earn a living, H Metro reports. Muridzo reportedly stated that he is now into pig farming and he spends most of his time at his piggery in Norton.
This was revealed by the musician’s manager Onismo Saini who told the publication that:
<blockquote>We are now spending much of our time at the plot in Norton where we have a piggery project.
As we speak right now, we have over 150 pigs  and piglets that we are rearing as a way to supplement our dues.
We have passed a stage where we can rely on live shows only because the environment is not conducive for the that thing.
As a friend and manager, I will have to advise him to invest in something else rather than waiting for  live shows proceeds.</blockquote>

According to an eyewitness’ account, Andy and his friend were having a good time with some women when one of the women’s ex-lover walked in on them and produced a gun and ordered them to get inside the house where he held them till they were reportedly rescued by law enforcement agents.
A source that spoke to the publication said:

South Africa’s kwaito sensation Mafikizolo performed to a small disappointed crowd at the HICC according to the Herald. The show started late and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Andy_Muridzo">Andy Muridzo</a>, Diamond Musica and <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Gemma_Griffiths">Gemma Griffiths</a> failed to perform.

A Small Crowd For Mafikizolo's Back In Town Concert

South Africa music group, Mafikizolo is expected in Zimbabwe this morning for a show at Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) Harare tonight.
The Love Portion hitmakers are fulfilling their concert that was cancelled months ago as xenophobic attacks emerged in South Africa.
Local artists lined up to support the group include Selmor Mtukudzi, Andy Muridzo, Gemma Griffiths, Jah Signal and Tocky Vibes.
The organiser of the show, Blessing Jeke said that everything was now in place for the show. Jeke said:
<blockquote>Mafikizolo are landing tomorrow (today) morning and all the groundwork has been done. We are making sure that everything is in place.
Advance tickets have been selling well and we encourage many people to get advance tickets to avoid disappointment at the gate.</blockquote>
Mafikizolo is not new to Zimbabwe after collaborating with a number of local musicians including Andy Muridzo and Jah Praisah.

Singer Andy Muridzo told Daily News that Beverly Sibanda aka Bev’s claim that she was pregnant with his child actually made him popular contrary to what many people thought.
Muridzo says up to now he doesn’t know what Bev wanted to achieve by going public with the claim. Said Muridzo:

South African singer Busiswa is scheduled to perform in Zimbabwe at Alexandra Sports Club on September 8 alongside local musicians Winky D, Andy Muridzo and Mathias Mhere.
The event will be a family show and starts around 9am to give parents an opportunity of fun with their children before they go back to school. The organisers of the show told The Herald that the event will involve a number of family activities. Said the show organisers:

Busiswa Set To Perform In Harare

Exiled Chimurenga music legend Thomas Mapfumo (72), who last performed in Zimbabwe 14 years ago has arrived in the country for his homecoming Bira concert set for the Glamis Arena on April 28. Mapfumo and his band Blacks Unlimited landed at Robert Mugabe International Airport on Wednesday night from the United States. Mapfumo’s fans are expected to pay $30 for the cheapest ticket to the show. VIP will be $100 (online) and $150 (physical).
The concert which is being organised by Entertainment Republic is expected to feature music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Winky D, Suluman Chimbetu, Andy Muridzo and Gary Tight. The first batch of tickets for Mapfumo’s homecoming show that were going for at least $10 were sold out with Entertainment Republic unveiling a second lot with the cheapest going for $20. However the tickets were raised to $30 after the 16th of April. Ticket sales close on April 27 at 4pm and there will be no ticket sales on the day of the show.
Physical tickets are available at Entertainment Republic offices at 113 Samora Machel Avenue in Harare. After the April 28 gig, Mapfumo said he hopes he will get the chance to visit his rural home in Guruve.

Part of a letter from MTM official, Keen Mushapaidze, reads:
<blockquote>We acknowledge receiving your email dated March 5, 2018 wherein you stated your intention to leave MTM and that you were terminating your contract with immediate effect. We would like to inform you that we have considered your request and hereby consent to the termination of your contract with MTM.</blockquote>

Two weeks ago, Andy Muridzo announced that even though he was still under contract, he was leaving MTM. Andy Muridzo Contract With Military Touch Movement Officially Terminated

Musician Andy Muridzo was arrested on Thursday following a hit-and-run accident which took place two weeks ago. Muridzo was reportedly arrested last night and taken to Harare Central Police Station after escaping when the police tried to arrest him midweek when he was performing.
According to police sources, Muridzo does not have a drivers licence and was involved in an accident where he allegedly hit three vehicles near the central business district before escaping. One of the cars is reported to have been damaged beyond repair with the vehicle owner sustaining serious injuries.

Professionally, Muridzo is also having issues after he attacked Jah Prayzah and his Military Touch Movement despite being contracted to them for five years.  Muridzo claimed that Jah Prayzah has not assisted him in any way, and is instead grabbing all the good opportunities for himself.

Andy Muridzo Arrested For Hit-And-Run Accident

Jah Prayzah’s manager Keen Mashapaidze has insisted that Andy Muridzo is still part of the Military Touch Movement (MTM). This comes in responses to Muridzo’s claims that he has left MTM in all but name. <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/03/04/andy-muridzo-accuses-jah-prayzah-selfishness-exploitation-says-leaving-captivity-military-touch-movement/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Muridzo has claimed that the label has not fulfilled its part of the contract and was only benefitting Jah Prayzah.</a>
Speaking on behalf of Jah Prayzah, Mashapaidze said
<blockquote>As far as we are concerned, (Muridzo) is still a part of us. If they are any developments or if he has left, he is still to officially communicate with us.
We have a running contract with him and automatically that makes him a member of MTM just like any other affiliate of the team. We can only start discussing about departure when his five-year contract expires or when he comes to terminate it.</blockquote>

Jah Prayzah Insists That Andy Muridzo Is Still A Part of Military Touch Movement

Musician Andy Muridzo has expressed his disquiet and regret at signing for Jah Prayzah’s Military Touch Movement (MTM) saying that he is not getting what he signed for. Muridzo claims that Jah Prayzah has not assisted him in any way, and is instead grabbing all the good opportunities for himself. Muridzo signed a 5-year contract joining MTM last year. Speaking to Sunday Mail, Muridzo said:
<blockquote>I no longer want anything to do with MTM. I want out. Rather, I’m practically out but still with them on paper. I have a five-year contract that I signed last year though I’m working on terminating it.
I have not been attending MTM functions for some time now and that should be sending a clear message to everyone regarding my position with them.
Not a single thing I was promised on the contract has been fulfilled. Actually, Jah Prayzah wants all the good things for himself. He is not willing to assist others and is not a saint as most of you imagine him to be.
… things have been hectic over the past months but I’m happy I have taken corrective measures. JP had access to my recorded but yet to be released music at MTM studios and that was creating serious challenges for me. I need to be my own man once again and determine my destiny, so yes this is it, hukama hwangu neMTM hwapera (my relationship with MTM is done). I don’t want to continue leaving in this mistake</blockquote>

Andy Muridzo Accuses Jah Prayzah of Selfishness, Exploitation, Says He Is Leaving "Captivity" Of Military Touch Movement

Musician Andy Muridzo had to flee from an angry crowd at Banket Primary School. The crowd became restless and angry after the musician turned up late to perform.  This comes after a few days after fellow Military Touch Movement artist Jah Prayzah was pelted with stones by an angry crowd at the funeral of his former bodyguard Chris Nyemba.

An amateur video circulating today shows local popular musician, Andy Muridzo, being chased by a crowd from a what looks like a school. It’s not clear yet why the crowd was chasing him.
Some members of the crowd, however, can be heard shouting “ngaarohwe” Shona for “He should be beaten!”
Narration by the person who took the amateur video, however, says that he was being chased for coming late to a show. Apparently, he made the crowd wait at primary school for a very long time.
Recently, another popular musician, Jah Prayzah, was also <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/jah-prayzah-gives-details-attack-funeral/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">chased by a crowd that was beating him</a>. Dancer Beverly Sibanda has said that she is a reformed person and that she is working very hard to stay away from negative publicity and to lead a private life. Bev has never been one to shy away from controversy in the past. Early this year she garnered a lot of negative attention after she publicly claimed that she was carrying musician Andy Muridzo’s baby. Muridzo is married.  Bev went on to claim that <a href="http://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/02/05/bev-claims-andy-muridzos-relatives-love-andys-wife-abusive/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Andy’s relative preferred her because his wife was abusive.</a>
Speaking to the Daily News, Bev said:
<blockquote>I was advised by a number of my friends and fans not to share my personal life secrets with the public, mainly through the media.
I took their advice and of late, I have realised that it is working in my favour,” the mother of one said.
Of late, I prefer to share some positive developments of my career with the public; private issues will be a reserve for private people.</blockquote>

Bev reforms, promises to stay away from controversy

Raunchy dancer Beverly Sibanda and musician Andy Muridzo have responded too rumours that they are back together. Sibanda denied the rumour stating that it is being spread by people who want to tarnish her image.
Said Sibanda:
<blockquote>I am always at home these days and I don’t even know the last time I was with Andy. Whoever is giving you that information is just after my progress, they want to tarnish my image.</blockquote>
Meanwhile Andy Muridzo’s manager Gift Petro also denied the rumours and said:
<blockquote>There is nothing like that happening, Bev’s issue is now a thing of the past, we closed the chapter a long time ago.</blockquote>
There have been rumours that Muridzo has been seen at Bev’s lodgings in Craneborne and was seen caressing and kissing Bev at Holly’s Hotel &amp; Nite Club during her popular Sunday slot.
