A 24-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for robbing a family in Harare’s Eastview, Phase 15, Mabvuku.
The suspect, Bright Chikomo, reportedly attacked a couple in their home, stealing US$30 in cash, two cellphones, and a blanket.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest, and the second suspect, identified only as “Digital,” is still on the run. Police said:

On 28/11/24, Police in Harare arrested Bright Chikomo (24) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at a house in Eastview, Phase 15, Mabvuku where a couple was attacked before USD 30.00 cash, two cellphones and a blanket were stolen.
The suspect was positively identified by the wife during the robbery, leading to his arrest. The arrest led to the recovery of a knife which was in the pocket of the suspect’s trousers.
The other suspect, only identified as Digital, is on the run. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.

In a separate robbery incident, three armed suspects attacked a family at a residence along Cecil Road in Greendale, Harare, on Thursday.
The suspects, who remain unidentified, assaulted the family and made off with US$12,200 in cash, laptops, cellphones, and a Digital Video Recorder (DVR).

24-Year-Old Man Arrested For Robbing Harare Family Of US$30

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a shoot-out incident and the subsequent arrest of Moketsi Ndlovu (18), Respect Khumalo (22), and Onias Tembo (19) in connection with a series of robbery cases in Bulawayo and Gwanda between July 2024 and November 20, 2024.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said on November 25, 2024, a police crack team in Bulawayo received a tip-off linking the suspects to the robbery cases.
The suspects were tracked and spotted at their hideout in Luveve, Bulawayo, where they fired at detectives, leading to a shootout.
The detectives disarmed and arrested the suspects, leading to the recovery of a 9 mm FN Browning Pistol with three live rounds and eight empty cartridges. Reads the statement:

The suspects are being linked to three armed robbery cases including a case of robbery which occurred on 01st October 2024 along Jungle Road, Harrisville, Bulawayo where a Toyota Fun Cargo, registration number AEA 5078 was stolen after the suspects hired the vehicle from Bulawayo CBD to Harrisville.
The suspects are also clearing a robbery case which occurred on 13th November 2024 at Reigate Township, Bulawayo where a Honda Fit vehicle, registration number, ADU 1198, a cellphone as well as ZAR 500-00 and USD 15.00 were stolen and another robbery case which occurred on 20th November 2024 at Chigumira Business Centre, Bulawayo where a Ford Ranger vehicle, registration number AFN 6255 was stolen. The vehicle was recovered at a railway crossing in Spitzkop, Gwanda.
Meanwhile, the Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect, Elvis Charakupa (41) whose known address is 96/7878 Mpopoma Bulawayo.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, saying the suspects were armed with an unknown firearm and a pistol.
The robbers attacked a couple and other family members in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, before making off with the cash, five cellphones, and a wristwatch. Police said:

In a separate armed robbery incident, four unknown suspects, armed with an unidentified pistol, attacked a couple in Kambuzuma, Harare, on Saturday. The robbers stole US$4,870 in cash and two cellphones.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is urging anyone with information that may assist in solving these robbery cases to come forward and report to the nearest police station.

US$26,000 Stolen In Armed Robbery At Cowdray Park Home

A suspected armed robber’s girlfriend has been implicated in two armed robberies after police recovered several stolen items from her house, a court has heard.
As reported by <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/armed-robbers-girlfriend-implicated-in-two-robberies/">H-Metro</a>, Monica Muguti, of Unit M, Chitungwiza, is alleged to have received some of the stolen property from her boyfriend, Tawanda Manokore.
Acting on a tip-off, the police visited Muguti’s residence, where she led them to a wardrobe containing various stolen items.
Among the recovered items were bangles, a bead necklace, a green hip flask inscribed “Stanley since 1913,” a beads bangle, a Guess Waterpro silver and gold watch, a Jeep silver and blue watch, and a Pig gold medal.
In the first robbery, the court heard that on October 26, 2024, Tawanda Manokore, Sarezi Shonhiwa, Tafadzwa Chakuteka, and Willye Chirawu allegedly attacked a couple at their residence on Christon Road, Christon Bank, as they were preparing for bed.
The robbers, armed with machetes and knives and wearing balaclavas, posed as police officers investigating a stolen laptop.
They first attacked the gardener in his cottage, handcuffed him, and then took him to the main house, where they confronted the couple.
The robbers tied up the couple, demanding cash and valuables while threatening to shoot them. They ransacked the house, stealing US$160 cash from a handbag and US$600 from a wallet, six cellphones, a handbag, a gas tank, groceries, and a 9mm Walther pistol with live ammunition from a safe.
The robbers loaded their loot into the victims’ blue Toyota Rav4, which they later abandoned in Mazowe along with some of the stolen items.
In the second robbery, on November 3, the group attacked the complainants at their farm in Goromonzi. They entered the kitchen through an open door and threatened the victims, tying them up and demanding cash.
The robbers stole an iPhone 15 Pro Max, clothes, a laptop, a Bluetooth speaker, US$1,000, an iPhone 13 Pro Max, US$2,000, jewellery, and firearms, including a Beretta 12-bore shotgun, a 410 Beretta shotgun, and a pellet gun.
CCTV footage of the robbery went viral on social media, leading to the arrest of Tafadzwa Chakuteka, who was implicated by co-accused Shonhiwa.
Chakuteka led police to Inkomo Barracks Marriage Quarters, where they recovered the stolen Walther pistol, two empty magazines, and live rounds, which had been hidden in the chimney of his official residence.
The firearm was stolen in the Christon Bank robbery.

Armed Robber’s Girlfriend Implicated In Two Robberies After Police Find Stolen Items At Her Home

A suspected armed robber was shot dead by a miner in Concession on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as 35-year-old Kudzanai Zuze, was with three accomplices who fled the scene after the miner, Chinai Chimanga, opened fire.
According to <a href="https://bulawayo24.com/index-id-news-sc-national-byo-247828.html">Bulawayo24</a>, the robbers had first poisoned Chimanga’s dogs to gain entry into his yard, which allowed them to carry out their plans. A source close to the investigation was quoted as saying:

The four armed suspects pounced on Chimanga’s residents and poisoned his dogs before gaining entry around 3 AM yesterday.
Chimanga who was alert armed himself with a pistol and an axe and shouted for help before firing on the robbers killing one and giving two more shots in the air to scare them and alert neighbors.

Chimanga then reported the incident to the police who attended the scene to investigate. They invited the deceased’s wife, 27-year-old Privilege Kakomo, who positively identified her husband’s body.
During further inquiries, Kakomo revealed that her husband had been with his accomplices all day before leaving around 6 PM the previous day.
The police then followed up at the residence of the second suspect, locating his wife, 29-year-old Consider Nyakudya, in Rujeko, Glendale.
She told the officers that her husband had left home on November 11 around 7 PM and did not return.

A man named Chinai Chimanga killed an armed robber named Kudzanai Zuze and scared off his accomplices in Concession. The robbers poisoned Chimanga's dogs to get into his yard. Chimanga armed himself, shot one robber dead, and scared off the others. The police came, identified the dead robber, and found information from his wife and another suspect's wife. The second suspect is still missing. The investigation is ongoing.

Miner Shoots Armed Robber Dead In Concession

A 23-year-old Bulawayo Polytechnic student was allegedly robbed and fatally stabbed last Monday, during the night, because she had identified one of the suspects during the mugging.
Inobubele Mhlanga was brutally attacked by Thamsanqa Ndebele (26) and Euton Sebatha (36) after getting off a commuter bus near the TM turnoff bus stop in Cowdray Park.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson for Bulawayo Province, Inspector Abednico Ncube, confirmed the incident to <a href="https://newsday.co.zw/southerneye/local/article/200034746/student-murdered-for-identifying-robber">Southern Eye</a>.
He said Mhlanga had recognised one of the suspects as they lived in the same neighbourhood. To silence her forever, and ensure that she would not reveal the identity of the robbers, she was killed. Said Inspector Ncube:

On November 4, at around 8:30 pm, the now-deceased was found by passers-by lying in a pool of blood near TM turnoff bus stop in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, with a penetrative wound above the right breast and several cuts on both hands.
She was ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital by a well-wisher and passed on while she was being attended to by a doctor.

The day after the incident, police rounded up known robbery suspects in the area.
One suspect, Playmore Mpofu (27) from Cowdray Park, admitted to often committing robberies in the Cowdray Park area with Ndebele and Sebatha.
Based on information from the community, police were able to arrest Ndebele and Sebatha in the Cowdray Park area.
During interrogation, Ndebele confessed to attacking the victim, Inobubele Mhlanga, and taking her handbag containing $30 with the help of his accomplice, Sebatha. Said Inspector Ncube:

He further stated that Sebatha stabbed the now-deceased because she had identified him since they resided in the same area and they knew each other.

Mhlanga was laid to rest at Luveve Cemetery in Bulawayo.

A student named Inobubele Mhlanga was killed by robbers because she recognized one of them. The robbers, Thamsanqa Ndebele and Euton Sebatha, attacked Mhlanga when she got off a bus in Cowdray Park. The police found her with serious injuries and she later died in the hospital. The robbers were caught, and Ndebele admitted to the crime, saying Sebatha stabbed Mhlanga because she knew him. Bulawayo Polytechnic Student Murdered For Identifying Robber

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that took place at Pircy Farm, Goromonzi, on November 6, 2024. During the robbery, thieves made off with US$3,000 in cash and valuables estimated at US$10,000.
The suspect, identified as Sarezi Shonhiwa (57), was arrested on November 9 at Zin’anga Village in Seke by detectives from the CID Homicide division.
According to the ZRP, the robbery was captured on CCTV, and images of the suspects were shared on social media as part of a public appeal for information.
The robbers, armed with machetes and pistols, gained access to the farm by cutting through a backyard fence.
They entered the house through an open kitchen door, where they attacked the farm owners and stole cash, clothing, two speakers, three cellphones, laptops, jewellery, groceries, and three firearms.
In a statement released on November 10, ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that Shonhiwa had admitted to his involvement in the robbery and had implicated his accomplices in the crime. Said Comm. Nyathi:

Investigations by the detectives revealed that Godfrey Mapanzure and Tawanda Manokore were arrested on 09th November 2024 in connection with a case of armed robbery which occurred in Mutorashanga.
Sarezi Shonhiwa and his accomplices are also clearing another case of armed robbery which occurred on 26th October 2024 along Christon Bank Road, Christon Bank, where a Toyota Rav 4 vehicle, registration number AEE 6525, a Star pistol, five cellphones and USD 760. 00 cash were stolen.

ZRP Captures Goromonzi Farm Robbery Suspect After CCTV Images Shared

Three Chinese nationals sustained serious injuries during a robbery at a copper processing plant in Chinhoyi on Sunday.
According to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/three-chinese-nationals-shot-in-copper-plant-robbery/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>, the incident occurred around 1 AM at the Lanyun Mining Zimbabwe copper processing unit located in Alaska, on the outskirts of Chinhoyi.
The injured persons, identified as Chen Fang Jun (49), Helong (25), and Wang Yin Bin (49), are currently receiving treatment at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
Reports indicate that Jun was shot in the upper arm, while Helong suffered gunshot wounds to both legs. Bin also sustained injuries to both legs, with one leg fractured.
Lanyun Mining Zimbabwe director Huang, speaking through an interpreter, told NewZimbabwe.com that approximately five or six men invaded the company premises, which includes staff quarters, and forced their way into the rooms occupied by Jun, Helong, and Bin. He said:

Three Chinese Nationals Shot And Injured In Chinhoyi Copper Plant Robbery

A Zimbabwean armed robber was killed, and his two accomplices sustained gunshot wounds following a shootout with security agents on Wednesday after a robbery in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng province, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
SAPS claimed that the trio opened fire after being cornered while counting their loot in a rented room.
The police said the Zimbabweans were subdued by officers from SAPS and a security company in the early hours of Thursday this week. SAPS said:

An investigation is underway following a business robbery at Elukwatini in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday November 6, 2024 at about 0130am.
Members of SAPS from Elukwatini in collaboration with a private security company responded to the robbery incident and in the process, the three suspects, Zimbabwean nationals, were reportedly shot, a matter subject to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate probe. One succumbed, while two others sustained some injuries.

According to the statement, SAPS received a tip-off about a robbery in progress at a local filling station at Nhlazatshe Crossings.
Upon arriving at the scene, they learned that the suspects had fled with cash, cigarettes, and betting vouchers.
A follow-up investigation led the police and their counterparts to a rented room where the suspects were cornered.
SAPS Mpumalanga provincial spokesperson Captain Magonseni Nkosi said:

It was in this place where the three were cornered and we are informed that they were still counting the cash believed to have been stolen during the said business robbery.
Instead of complying, the suspects fired some shots from inside the room and police had no option, but to fire back while moving into the room.

Nkosi said the suspects were subdued, with one dying from gunshot wounds. The police recovered an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm. The identity of the deceased is being investigated.
The other two suspects, now receiving medical treatment under police guard, are expected to appear at the Elukwatini Magistrates Court soon.
Nkosi added that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate will investigate the shooting incident for transparency and fairness, as SAPS members were involved.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of US$20,000 from a cash-in-transit vehicle belonging to a private security company on October 16, 2024. The vehicle was transporting cash from Beitbridge to Mutare at the time of the incident.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Kelvin Chisandako. He said:

On 03rd November 2024, police in Masvingo arrested the suspect at Mangwawo Village, Mawarire, Mwenezi after receiving information that he was in possession of large sums of cash.
The suspect revealed to the police that he stole the money from the cash-in- transit vehicle which he boarded at Lutumba Business Centre, Beitbridge.
The arrest led to the recovery of USD$ 600.00 as well as ZAR 2 320.00 cash, an empty cash box and a Toyota Aqua vehicle, registration number AGO 5702, which the suspect bought for USD 9 800.00.
Investigations by the police established that the suspect used part of the money to buy 30 X 12 feet roofing sheets, 35 X 50 kg bags of cement, seven window frames, two French doors, 15 000 farm bricks, a cellphone and three men’s suits.

Commissioner Nyathi commended members of the public for providing valuable information that led to the suspect’s arrest.

A 24-year-old man named Kelvin Chisandako was arrested for stealing US$20,000 from a cash-in-transit vehicle in Zimbabwe. He was caught with some of the stolen money in a village. Man (24) Arrested Over US$20,000 Theft From Cash-in-Transit Vehicle

Two security guards are facing allegations of colluding with armed robbers to steal cash from the premises they were tasked with guarding.
According to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/guards-caught-on-cctv-sharing-loot-with-robbers/">H-Metro</a>, the guards were caught on CCTV receiving their share of the stolen money from their suspected accomplices.
The guards, Marshal Siyamboko and Tonderai Sixpence are employed by Raven Shield security company and were stationed at Turnal Holdings.
It is alleged that in the early hours of an unspecified date, a group of armed robbers arrived at the complex armed with pistols, machetes, and iron bars.
The robbers subdued the other security guards on duty, leaving them under the watch of one gang member outside the premises.
Siyamboko and Sixpence allegedly assisted their accomplices by showing them around the yard, pointing out offices and identifying their target room.
Using iron bars, the armed robbers broke into various office doors, ultimately accessing a safe from which they stole US$5,866.
The CCTV footage later revealed Siyamboko and Sixpence receiving a share of the loot and chatting with the robbers.
During police investigations, Siyamboko led them to recover US$40, which he had hidden under a plank in the Turnal Holdings car park. He also directed detectives to another US$40, concealed in a jacket in his bedroom.
In court, Sixpence claimed that he never received any money from the robbers and insisted that he was coerced into compliance with their demands.

Two security guards are accused of working with armed robbers to steal money from the place they were supposed to protect. They were caught on camera receiving their share of the stolen money. Police have launched a manhunt for six armed suspects who robbed Pircy Farm in Goromonzi on November 3.
Commissioner Paul Nyathi, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), has appealed for information that could help identify the suspects.
The faces and clothing of the robbers were captured on the CCTV system installed around the farm. Said Commissioner Nyathi:

ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR ARMED ROBBERY CASES WHICH OCCURRED IN AND AROUND HARARE
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Spencer Mapfumo (42), Patrick Chibaba alias Mupositori (38), Tarwirei Madzudzu alias Mukanya (50), Paddington Meki (44) and Washington Marunze (36) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred on 28th October 2024 at Dinwoo Investments, Workington, Harare where US$ 30 000.00 cash was stolen.
On 30th October 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare received information which linked Spencer Mapfumo to the offence.
The detectives tracked the suspect who was driving a Nissan AD Van with no registration plates and arrested him along Cameroon Street, Harare near Jumbo Wholesalers.
Investigations by the detectives established that Spencer Mapfumo had bought a Nissan AD Van using his share of the loot. The detectives recovered the vehicle, a firearm and US$ 37.00 cash.
Spencer Mapfumo implicated Patrick Chibaba, Tarwirei Madzudzu, Paddington Meki and Washington Marunze as his accomplices. He led the detectives to Patrick Chibaba’s place of residence in Eyecourt, Waterfalls, Harare.
On seeing that he was surrounded, Patrick Chibaba tried to escape and he was shot on the left foot leading to his arrest.
The detectives recovered US$2 020.00 cash, a black bag containing a 7.65 mm Tokarev pistol loaded with three rounds and a Relay blank Riyreroy pistol from the suspect.
The detectives also managed to arrest Tarwirei Madzudzu at his residence in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza after they fired a warning shot when the suspect tried to run away. The detectives recovered US$740.00 cash which was in the suspect’s house.
On 31st October 2024, the detectives acted on received information and tracked Paddington Meki to the intersection of Josiah Tongogara Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street where he was intercepted leading to his arrest.
The suspect was travelling in a red Honda Fit, vehicle registration number AFV 0438, to Domboshava where he intended to meet with his accomplices.
Patrick Chibaba also assisted the detectives in luring Washington Marunze to Julias Nyerere Street, Harare where he was subsequently arrested.
The detectives recovered a magazine loaded with a 7.65mm rounds, US$805.00 cash and a small silver and black bag from the suspect.
The suspects are clearing six armed robbery cases which occurred in and around Harare from July 2024 to October 2024.
Some of these cases include an armed robbery case which occurred on 20th August 2024 at around 0001 hours at ZAOGA Church, Glenorah A, Harare where US$4 000.00, £130.00, ZAR 5 610.00, BWP 120.00 and ZWG559.00 cash was stolen.
In another armed robbery case which occurred at Garfunkel, Prince Charles Airport, Mt Hampden, Harare on 07th October 2024, the suspects stole an expandable button stick and US$27 273.00 cash.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Bornwell Mukwasi (32), Clive Mudiwa (25) and Nathan Mudiwa (22) were arrested in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at Rhi-Media Holdings, Harare on 29th October 2024 where computers and accessories valued at US$71 710.00 were stolen.
On 30th October 2024, detectives from CID Homicide Harare acted on received information and arrested Bornwell Mukwasi in Harare Central Business District. The suspect implicated Clive Mudiwa and Nathan Mudiwa as his accomplices.
Investigations by the detectives established that Bornwell Mukwasi had sent some of the loot to Beitbridge via a bus.
The police intercepted the bus and recovered three subwoofer speakers, an IMac monitor, a Dell laptop and a power cable.
On 31st October 2024, Clive Mudiwa and Nathan Mudiwa were also arrested in Budiriro, Harare in connection with this case.
The arrest of the two suspects led to the recovery of one speaker, a monarch, a bolt cutter, a machete, 11 mic transmitters, two body packs, 50 microphone cables, three studio monitors, an IMac pro monitor, two Canon CD5rs printers and various accessories all valued at US$65 000.00.

Marlborough Church Robbed Of US$54 000, Female Robbers Pounce On Epworth Resident

Two Presidential Guard and three Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) officers are facing allegations of extorting US$2,000 from a Chinese miner, Enjie Zhang, at the Murodzi mining claim in Mazowe.
As reported by <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/cio-presidential-guard-officers-up-for-us2000-blackmail-against-chinese-miner/">ZimLive</a>, the suspects, identified as Chamunorwa Victor Chinorwiwa (32), Hilary Maravanyika (28), Tawanda Ngoshi (39), Samuel Zvishamiso Simbabure, and Respect Zuva, allegedly posed as members of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) who were on duty.
The five, also facing robbery charges, were scheduled to be back in court on Tuesday for a ruling on their application challenging placement on remand.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, on October 19, 2024, around midday, the group connived and proceeded to the Murodzi mining claim in Mazowe.
They allegedly ordered the miner Enjie Zhang and his 25 workers to gather and sit down in one place. Said the NPA in an outline of the charges:

Accused person one (Simbabure) and his accomplices ordered the complainant and the gathered mine workers to remain still as he would proceed to shoot them if they attempted to flee whilst showing a pistol which was placed on his waist.
The accused persons ordered the complainant and his fellow Chinese nationals who were present, Jinliang Xue, Hang Hainglin and Shan Dong Zhou to produce their identity documents, mining certificates and work permits.
Complainant and his Chinese counterparts produced their identity documents but failed to produce the mining certificates and work permits which they stated were in the custody of the company general manager, one identified as Hu, who was in Harare.
The accused persons accused the complainant and his fellow workers of conducting illegal mining operations in the area and demanded US$2,000 cash from the Chinese nationals so that they could release them.
They ordered the complainant to contact Hu so that she could bring the needed bribe money and the complainant complied.

The court heard that Simbabure communicated with Hu using the complainant’s phone to arrange for the bribe money to be delivered to Ngoshi.
Hu then contacted informant Godfrey Zambuko, who works for Holdenfield Investments in Harare, instructing him to go to Zimbabwe House and hand over the US$2,000 bribe to Ngoshi. Said the NPA:

Informant indeed proceeded to Zimbabwe House where he gave the US$2,000 bribe money to Ngoshi who is currently at large.

According to court papers, one Chinese national, Hang Hainglin, escaped from the mining site and went to a nearby mine also owned by Holdenfields Investments.
There, he was given US$1,000 by another Chinese national to deliver to the accused persons in exchange for their freedom. Said the prosecution:

On October 21, 2024, Simbabure called Godfrey Zambuko from his mobile phone, inviting him to Zimbabwe House to discuss the need for an additional bribe payment. Said the NPA:

Police in Harare are appealing to the public for information regarding a robbery that occurred at a grocery shop at Tilcor Industry, Chitungwiza, on Saturday at around 1:30 PM.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), three unknown suspects armed with an unidentified pistol stormed the store during this brazen midday heist.
In a bid to instil fear, one of the assailants fired a shot into the roof, causing both customers and shop employees to comply with their demands and lie on the ground.
The suspects then proceeded to steal a substantial amount of cash, totalling US$8,705.00, from two till drawers before making their getaway.
After executing the robbery, the perpetrators fled the scene in a Honda Fit vehicle. The ZRP said:

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that the incident occurred on October 16, 2024.
The cash-transit team picked up the two passengers at Lutumba Service Centre and Machiloni in Beitbridge.
It was only after they had dropped off the passengers at Rutenga and Ngundu that the crew realised a locked metal cash box containing the money was missing. Said Commissioner Nyathi:

The suspects are believed to be local criminals residing in South Africa.
Interpol is an inter-governmental organisation that facilitates cooperation between police forces from 196 member countries, whose primary goal is to help police around the world work together to combat international crime and make the world a safer place.
According to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/interpol-roped-in-to-probe-us4m-heist/">The Herald</a>, special investigation teams have been sent to Bulawayo and surrounding areas to probe the robbery, probably the largest in Zimbabwe’s history.
The gang is allegedly connected to multiple robberies across the country, including a cash-in-transit heist involving nearly 12 kg of gold worth US$675,000 in October 2022.
They are suspected of robbing banks, money transfer agents, wholesalers, and grocery stores between May and October 2023.
In Bulawayo alone, the gang reportedly stole over US$858,000 and R508,000 in five separate raids within four months.
The suspects include Elijah Vumbunu (alias Mupositori), David Sawadye, Israel Zulu, Kudakwashe Mudzingwa (alias Umbro), Takafa Vumbunu (alias Naison Mahembe), Paul Chinake, and Brian Murape.
It is alleged that the gang typically flees to South Africa after committing their crimes.

ZRP Enlists INTERPOL To Hunt Down US$4.4 Million Ecobank Heist Suspects

Brazen armed robbers targeted a cash-in-transit vehicle belonging to Safeguard Security in Bulawayo on Thursday afternoon, making off with US$4 million in cash.
The Safeguard security van was conducting routine duties at the Parkade Centre branch of Ecobank when the robbery occurred.
Videos circulating on social media show that the robbers used a white Ford Ranger with the registration number AGP 2333.
Members of the public captured part of the heist, showing six masked suspects loading what appeared to be cash boxes into their getaway vehicle at the corner of 9th Avenue and Fife Street.
An eyewitness told the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/licence-plate-of-getaway-vehicle-in-bulawayo-4million-heist-captured-on-camera/">Chronicle</a> that the suspects suddenly appeared, fired a single shot in the air, and ordered the security guards to lie down. Said the eyewitness:

Safeguard Security Cash-in-Transit Vehicle Robbed Of US$4 Million In Bulawayo

A man in Harare was reportedly robbed of over US$18,000 by two unidentified male suspects to whom he had offered a lift on Friday.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the victim had just collected the cash from a company branch when he agreed to give the two men a ride.
During the journey, the suspects brandished a pistol and a knife, assaulted the victim, and stole the cash. They then fled the scene in an unregistered blue Honda Fit vehicle. Police said:

Police in Warren Park are investigating a case of robbery which occurred on 20/09/24 at around 1635 hours. Two unidentified male suspects, who were armed with a pistol and a knife, attacked the victim who was driving a Green Toyota Corolla vehicle registration number ACD 3957 along Lytton Road, Harare towards the CBD, before stealing US$18 400.00 cash. The victim was coming from a company’s branch where he had gone to collect the cash on behalf of the company when he offered transport to the two suspects. The suspects fled from the scene using an unregistered Blue Honda Fit vehicle.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for a security guard who robbed the bank he was assigned to guard in Sanyati on Friday.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Samson Mahohoma (46), attacked two bank tellers and three other bank officials on Friday afternoon, making off with US$134,000 and ZAR 32,800 in cash. The ZRP stated:

The ZRP said that Mungure, a former loans officer at a local bank, is alleged to have withdrawn the cash after two clients submitted loan applications for agricultural purposes.

On Duty Security Guard Robs Bank Of US$134 000, ZAR33 000

Police suspect that five armed robbers who targeted the Fawcett Security Company premises in Chipinge on Wednesday morning, stealing US$114,411 and R1,281,320, received inside information from a mole within the company.
According to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/moles-hand-in-us114k-r12m-heist-exposed/">The Herald</a>, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said intelligence gathered indicates the suspects collaborated with an insider who provided detailed knowledge of Fawcett’s operations.
Comm. Nyathi assured the public that the police would thoroughly investigate and bring all those involved to justice.
The incident occurred around 3 AM on September 4, when two Fawcett Security officers, George Nhamo Sithole (59) and driver Dzime Sithole (46), were conducting routine patrols in a blue Fawcett Isuzu vehicle parked at the Farm and City shop in Chipinge.
Suddenly, two masked men armed with pistols emerged from behind the van and ordered the officers to exit.
The suspects forced the guards to remove their jackets and hats, then demanded the car keys from the driver.
Complying with orders, the guards were then restrained with their hands tied behind their backs and shoved into the vehicle’s cash compartment, which was subsequently locked.
Three additional gang members arrived shortly after and joined the initial two, driving to the Fawcett Security Company premises in Gaza Township.
En route, the gang stopped to load various items into the vehicle before continuing to the Fawcett offices. 
Upon arrival, they commanded the on-duty security officer, Mauka Chigonese (49), to unlock the gate. After he complied, Chigonese was assaulted and had his hands bound with electrical cables.
The robbers then disarmed another guard, Taurai Tarangwa (48), tying his hands with his shoelaces and forcing him to summon Gordon Gurudza (49), who was monitoring the alarm system, to open the office door.
Once inside, Gurudza was ordered to lie face down with his hands tied behind him using electric cables.
The gang proceeded to damage the alarm control board, exterior lights, and surveillance equipment, rendering them ineffective.
They then vandalised the vault with a grinder, stealing cash from six cash boxes and placing the money in a sack that previously contained cow feed.
The suspects drove off to Moiplass Estate with the security guards still in the vehicle, abandoning the truck against a tree to prevent their escape.
Sithole managed to contact Fawcett brand manager Peter Kabaira, who then alerted ZRP Chipinge Urban, prompting a swift police response.
Upon arrival, officers recovered an empty revolver near the front of the offices, a loaded shotgun abandoned along the perimeter fence, two used grinding discs and another empty revolver on the bonnet of the Isuzu truck.
They also found a pair of pliers, two screwdrivers, a shifting spanner, a bulletproof jacket, two Fawcett jackets, and an empty bottle of pepper spray.
Fortunately, none of the five Fawcett staff members were harmed or had their personal belongings stolen.

Police Suspect Inside Job In US$114,000 Robbery At Fawcett Security

A Fawcetts Security facility in Chipinge was robbed of US$111,000 and R1.28 million by at least five suspects around 3 AM on Wednesday.
According to an internal police memo, the robbers first targeted two Fawcetts Security guards who were on rapid response duties and had parked their branded Isuzu KB250 in the town centre. Reads the memo:

Two of the armed robbers that were wearing balaclavas approached the two security guards on either side of the car, and ordered them to open the car doors at gun point.
The guards were then force marched to the back of the van, where they were shoved into the cash compartment with their hands tied to their back with cables.

Police said the two robbers drove the van to an unknown location where more men, at least three, jumped into the van armed with an assortment of tools including grinders, hammers, torches and iron bars.
The robbers, according to police, forced the Fawcetts guards to hand over their jackets and caps.
Two robbers occupying the front seat then dressed themselves as Fawcetts guards.
The gang drove to the Fawcetts depot at 1530 Gaza O Light Industry, where some local businesses keep their money overnight before banking. Reads the memo:

Upon arrival at the office main gate, the accused persons managed to deceive a guard who was manning the entrance to open for them.
The accused persons entered the yard and when the guard was closing the gate, two of the robbers jumped from the motor vehicle and manhandled him and force marched him towards the offices with both of his hands tied with cable ties from the back.

The Fawcetts guard was disarmed of his Rossi revolver, while a second guard conducting perimeter checks was stripped of his shotgun.
According to the police, the robbers proceeded to damage all exterior security lights, break the manager’s office window, and disconnect the power supply to the alarm system. They also cut the output cable to the siren.
Inside the control room, the robbers quickly overpowered another guard monitoring the CCTV and disarmed him of his revolver.
With all guards accounted for, the robbers used a grinder to open a Chubb door leading to the vault, which contained six cash boxes.
They took turns breaking the padlocks on each of the metal cash boxes and emptied them of cash, loading the loot into the Fawcetts vehicle. Police said:

The robbers then bundled all the Fawcetts guards into the cash compartment of the van and drove off to a bushy area at Mooilsplas Farm, 6km north of Chipinge, where they dumped the guards and the motor vehicle.

One of the guards eventually managed to free himself and called for help.
Police later recovered the Isuzu keys, which had been discarded along with the Fawcetts uniforms, 54 km from Chipinge on the road to Birchenough.
The three firearms taken from the guards were discovered abandoned in the yard of the Fawcetts establishment.
In total, the robbers stole cash amounting to US$111,411 and R1,281,320.

Fawcetts Security Robbed Of Over US$111,000 And R1.28 Million

Two Harare men were recently brought before the Harare Magistrates’ Court to face charges of conspiring to commit an armed robbery.
Phillip Semba (34), and Ralph Mavura (39), were found guilty and sentenced to 8 years imprisonment of which 3 years were suspended for 5 years.
The court heard that on June 12, 2023, Mavura, employed by a company in Chisipite, Harare, informed Semba about large amounts of cash being stored at his workplace.
Acting on this information, they devised a plan to rob the company, using WhatsApp to coordinate their efforts.
They contacted Roy Mutemagazi, who was in South Africa at the time, to assemble a team and procure firearms and other tools necessary for the heist.
Mavura recorded and shared videos detailing the layout of the premises in preparation for the robbery, which they planned for June 25, 2023.
The plot was unravelled on June 17, 2023, when Mutemagazi was arrested at the Beitbridge Border Post while attempting to cross unlawfully into South Africa.
Police found a Taurus Pistol, a Baedda s56 cal 9mm gun, and two magazines in his possession. A search of his mobile phone revealed communications indicating the conspiracy with Semba and Mavura.
On June 22, 2023, Semba was arrested, leading authorities to Mavura.
Semba and Mavura were subsequently convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison, with three years suspended for five years, resulting in an effective sentence of five years.
Mutemagazi, showing signs of mental illness, was committed to a mental institution.

Two men from Harare planned to rob a company after getting information about money stored there. They used WhatsApp to plan the robbery and contacted someone in South Africa to help. Two Harare Men Jailed 5 Years Each For Plotting Armed Robbery

A suspected armed robber was shot dead by detectives in Domboshawa during a shootout on Saturday, July 27th. Two alleged accomplices were also arrested in the incident.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspects are linked to several armed robberies that occurred between May 31st and July 23rd, 2024 in Harare. Reads the statement:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Kenneth Chiputura (50) and Jaison Munyapa (18) in connection with a series of armed robberies which occurred between 31st May 2024 and 23rd July 2024 in July 2024 in Harare.
The other suspect, Raymond Mugabe (39) died upon admission at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals after a shootout with detectives in Domboshava.
On 26th July 2024, Detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, arrested Kenneth Chiputura at his residence in Nhamburo Village, Chinamhora, Domboshava after receiving information linking him to the robberies. The arrest led to the recovery of a bullet proof vest and 40 Chinese Yuan.
Further investigations by the detectives led to the arrest of Jaison Munyapa on 27th July 2024. He was found in possession of a CZ 75 SP-01 pistol, a Retay air gun and an empty bottle of champagne.
Raymond Mugabe, who was implicated in the robberies, was shot by the detectives during a shoot out as the suspect exchanged gunshots with detectives while hiding in a house at Dzorwa Village, Chinamhora, Domboshava. A CZ P-07 pistol, an empty bottle of wine, 0.44 Magnum revolver, a Grand Power 9mm pistol with an empty magazine, 8 X 9mmm magazines, 1 000 X 9mm live rounds, 28 X 303 live rounds and 9 X Magnum rounds were recovered at the scene.
The trio is linked to two armed robbery cases, including the one which occurred on 31st May 2024 at a house along Ruwanga Road, Mandara, Harare where US$15 000.00 cash, four firearms and jewelry were stolen and another robbery case which occurred on 23rd July 2024 at a house along Duiker Street, Mandara, Harare where US$1 000.00 cash and valuables worth US $1 000.00 were stolen.
Investigations are in progress to arrest the outstanding suspects only identified as Blessing and Mavhunga as well as recover stolen property and identify additional cases linked to the suspects.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police commends the public for providing positive information which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Armed Robber Shot Dead By Police In Domboshava

Police have confirmed the arrest of three out of the five suspects involved in the robbery of a Beitbridge-bound Blue Circle Buses coach at Vilivili Bus Stop in Mwenezi on Wednesday.
Initial reports had suggested that the incident took place around 2:30 AM on Thursday. However, in a statement released on Friday, July 19, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi clarified that the robbery actually occurred on July 17.
The three suspects apprehended have been identified as Ashton Siziva (26), Sauro Dadirai (24), and Phineas Shumba (25). They were arrested at Maporisa Business Centre, Maranda, Mwenezi.
The other two suspects, Elphias Mugurugudze and Talent Ndou remain at large.
During the heist, the suspects made off with US$8,621 and ZAR 62,070. Said Comm. Nyathi:

The suspects allegedly flashed a firearm and displayed wads of stolen cash in an attempt to impress and win the affection of the woman.
However, unbeknownst to them, the woman they were vying for turned out to be a soldier.
While the woman initially played along, she ultimately tipped off a police officer about the suspects’ behaviour and whereabouts leading to the eventual arrest of the three suspects.

Blue Circle Bus Armed Robbers Arrested

A Chinese national, Jiang Yao (34), was allegedly the victim of an armed robbery at a guest house in Borrowdale, Harare.
According to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/nine-armed-robbers-attack-businessman-flee-with-us21k/">H-Metro</a>, Jiang lost US$20,000 in cash that had been stashed in a bag in his room.
Jiang’s colleague, Yi Ting (54), also lost more than US$1,000 cash during the robbery. The robbery took place at around 8:30 PM at the guest house.
It is alleged that the perpetrators, armed with an unidentified pistol, first confronted and subdued the on-duty security guard, Herbert Hakupangwi, as he was conducting perimeter checks.
The assailants reportedly tied up Hakupangwi’s hands and legs with an electric cable before proceeding to Jiang’s room, where he was sleeping at the time.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson in Harare Province, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the robbery. He said:

Six construction workers were violently assaulted and robbed by three armed suspects at a construction site along Hillside Road Extension in the Msasa suburb of Harare, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.
Tragically, the on-duty security guard, Elliot Mudzingwa (32), succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack.
The assailants are reported to have used logs and steel bars as weapons during the assault.
Following the incident, they made off with a total of US$95 in cash and four cell phones belonging to the victims, fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle. Police said:

Construction Workers Attacked And Robbed In Harare, Security Guard Killed

Three people were robbed of US$15 000 cash, 20 grammes of gold and various clothes by five unknown suspects in Mberi Village, Mutasa, on 08 July 2024.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the assailants attacked the victims with machetes before robbing them of cash, gold and various items of clothing.
After the attack, the suspects quickly fled the scene using one of the complainants’ vehicles – a white Nissan Serena with registration number AFY 4673 which was loaded with 10 x 50 kilogramme bags of maize.
The three victims sustained varying degrees of injury during the assault and were subsequently transported to a hospital in Mutare for medical treatment.
Police in Penhalonga are now appealing to the public for any information that could assist their ongoing investigation.

US$15 000, 20 Grammes Gold Stolen In Mutasa Village Robbery

In a daring act, a Chipinge woman risked her life and that of her children to disarm an armed intruder who had entered her bedroom intending to rob the family.
According to police, the robber was armed with a pistol loaded with four rounds of ammunition when he made his way into the bedroom.
However, the woman, identified as Irene Samupindi, was able to overpower and disarm the intruder.
After being disarmed, the robber fled the scene together with two accomplices who had been blocked from entering the bedroom by Samupindi’s children.
Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, the acting spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Manicaland Province, confirmed the incident.
He said the two suspects, Last Garikai alias Musvetu (40) from Gaza and Farai Mangwayana, have since been arrested and charged with armed robbery.
The pair was also charged with three additional counts of armed robbery after confessing to other crimes during the police interrogations. Said Ass. Insp. Chinyoka:

Ms Samupindi wrestled with Garikai while shouting for help. Her children joined in the scuffle. The children also blocked the other two robbers from entering the bedroom.
Ms Samupindi managed to disarm the intruder, prompting the three accused persons to bolt from the scene, leaving the loaded pistol behind.

After disarming the intruder, Samupindi promptly reported the incident to the Chipinge police through a phone call.
The responding officers arrived at the scene and recovered the pistol, a magazine loaded with four rounds, and a black balaclava left behind by the fleeing robbers.
Two days later, police detectives apprehended the two suspects, Last Garikai alias Musvetu and Farai Mangwayana, in connection with a series of armed robberies that had plagued the farming town.
During the subsequent interrogations, the two suspects allegedly confessed not only to the attempted robbery at Samupindi’s home but also to committing three other armed robberies in the local area. Said Asst. Insp. Chinyoka:

On June 30, 2024, at around 9 pm, police detectives in Chipinge arrested Last Garikai and Farai Mangwayana.
During interrogations, Garikai confessed that he was the one who had committed three armed robberies and one attempted armed robbery on Ms Samupindi where a pistol was recovered. Mangwayana admitted to a case of unlawful entry.
