A man accused of murder nine years ago recently stirred emotions in his community when he returned to the scene of the crime under police guard for a reconstruction exercise.
The incident took place in Bilingoma Village, Ward 5, Matjinge, Plumtree, Matabeleland South Province.
According to <a href="https://cite.org.zw/haunted-by-victims-ghost-murder-suspect-returns-to-crime-scene-nine-years-later/">CITE</a>, the accused, Costine Moyo, allegedly killed and buried his victim in that very location in 2015.
A local villager, speaking to CITE, revealed that Moyo had been jailed for the crime but was released in 2014. Added the villager:

In 2016, he raped two women in Matjinge and Gambo, then evaded police by hiding in the Tsholotsho bush, where he committed another rape before being caught.

Witnesses told CITE that Moyo arrived in the village under police escort, who announced that he was there to assist in locating the remains of a person allegedly murdered near the Big Bite shops in 2015.
According to local sources, a woman named Loveness Dube played a role in the incident by allegedly helping Moyo lure the victim, claiming she had arranged a job for him in Lupane. Said a villager:

The victim, unaware, travelled with Dube to Bulawayo, where he was met by Moyo and others at Big Bite shops.
They gave him alcohol and killed him later that night. Moyo confessed that Big Bite took parts of the victim’s body – including his head, hand, foot and private parts – and burned the remains with 10 litres of petrol.

Villagers claimed that the morning after the murder, Dube discovered bones, a satchel, and a birth certificate at the site.
Unable to read, Moyo began using the birth certificate without realising it revealed the identity of the deceased.
During his conversations with the villagers, Moyo disclosed that four people were involved in the murder: Big Bite, Loveness, Tendai, and another unnamed individual.
He claimed that he had been haunted by the victim, who appeared in his dreams demanding to be taken home.
The villagers also said Moyo confessed that Big Bite had promised him R20 000 but did not pay it.

A man named Costine Moyo was accused of a murder nine years ago. Recently, he returned to the scene of the crime with police. He allegedly killed and buried his victim in Bilingoma Village. Moyo had been jailed but released in 2014. He was accused of more crimes after that. Villagers say Moyo confessed to killing the victim with help from others. Moyo claims he was haunted by the victim's ghost. The victim's remains were never found. Moyo also said he was not paid promised money for the crime.

Murder Suspect Returns To Crime Scene 9 Years Later, Claims Harassment By Victim's Ghost

Seventy (70) people were arrested by the police on Friday, 24 November for obstructing the free movement of traffic and people as they were performing rituals at the scene of a hit-and-run accident in Mbare, Harare.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said a man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident in Mbare on Wednesday.
Two days later, 70 mourners who were aboard two trucks and were en route to Granville Cemetery (Kumbudzi) disembarked at the scene of the accident and started to sing and dance resulting in their arrest by the police. ZRP said:

Police in Harare are investigating a fatal hit-and-run road traffic accident in which a male adult died after being hit by an unknown motorist at the intersection of Remembrance Drive and Ardbenie Road, Mbare on 22/11/23. The motorist did not stop after the accident.
Meanwhile, on 24/11/23 at around 1400 hours, 70 people were arrested for obstructing the free movement of traffic and people at the scene of the accident.
The suspects, who were aboard two lorries en route to Mbudzi Cemetery, had disembarked from the lorries before gathering at the centre of the intersection to allegedly perform rituals whilst singing and dancing.

In Zimbabwe, there is a cultural belief in avenging spirits, which is often referred to as “Ngozi”.
According to this belief, avenging spirits are the restless spirits of individuals who have died under tragic or unjust circumstances, such as murder or accidental death.
These spirits are believed to seek justice or revenge for their untimely demise.
The relatives of the deceased would perform some rituals at the accident or murder scene or at the grave to incite the spirit of the deceased to seek vengeance.
It is believed that the avenging spirit will haunt the murderer and his family or her family, bringing misfortune, illness, or even death until the wrong is acknowledged and resolved through traditional rituals and appeasement of the spirit.

70 People Arrested While Performing Rituals At Accident Scene In Mbare

An assistant driver who was involved in a traffic road accident in 2003 claims his family is being attacked by an alleged avenging spirit of a man who died in the accident.
The assistant driver, Matthew Chakandidano, recently appeared before Headman Chigodora’s court where he said the spirit of the deceased was causing mental illness and epileptic seizures in his family.
He said on the day of the accident, he was working with another driver (name not supplied), whom he alleges hit and killed Justin Saungweme.
Chakandidano believes Saungweme’s spirit is tormenting him since he was the last person he saw before he died and also because he did not attend his funeral. He said:

We were driving past Saburi Business Centre when my driver and mentor hit Saungweme, his friend.
When the driver realised what had happened, he disembarked from the vehicle and rushed to the police to report the accident.
He left me at the accident scene with Saungweme’s body under the vehicle.
When villagers arrived, they assumed that I was the one who had been driving and that l had killed the man.
They did not wait for an explanation and attacked me. I lost some teeth during that fracas.
However, when the police eventually arrived with the driver, I was released by the angry mob and the driver was arrested.
After that, I did not attend Saungweme’s funeral as I was angry over the attack. I never went to the Saungweme family to pay my respects.
While I was angry, I was also afraid that the family would assault me.

Chakandidano said he regrets not attending Saungweme’s funeral. He added:
<blockquote>
Apart from being mentally challenged, my relatives are also developing epilepsy. The seizures are very serious and we are always in hospital.
However, when we get to the hospital, the seizures stop and the doctors fail to diagnose any ailment.
As we speak, two children are having severe seizures at home, and I do not know if they are safe at home alone.

The Saungweme family refused to attend the court session and sent the deceased’s son, David Saungweme, to inform the court of their decision.
Headman Chigodora referred the matter to Acting Chief Zimunya’s court.
The Headman advised Chakandidano and his family to appease the avenging spirit, warning that failure to do so would result in more misery for them. He said:

It is an avenging spirit even though you did not kill him. You are the last person he saw before he died.
His spirit will continue haunting you until you appease it. It was an accident, but you should have attended the funeral. That was uncustomary of you.
You are neighbours with these people but decided not to attend the funeral.

Africans, including some Zimbabweans, believe in the existence of avenging spirits (“Ngozi” in Shona), whose quest for revenge for some wrong perpetrated on them during their lifetime will cause enormous trouble for the guilty party and his or her family until they are appeased.

"Avenging Spirit" Torments Driver Who Knocked Down Pedestrian

A family in Masasi Village under Chief Marange’s area in Mutare District has had no peace for the past few years as an alleged avenging spirit has been wreaking havoc.
The Chikukwa family told The Manica Post that family members are being pelted by stones, while invisible beings are biting, pinching and assaulting them.
The invisible beings are also reportedly taking food from the children’s plates and setting mysterious fires on family members’ clothes.
Twenty members of the Chikukwa family, most of them minor children, have since left their homes for a small shack to protect themselves from the stones.
The family says when they are in their cabin, they cover their bodies with thick blankets to avoid being injured by the stones.
Speaking in an interview with The Manica Post on Wednesday, Webster Chikukwa (44), whose sons Wellington (20) and Washington (15) were the first to be attacked by the stones in 2019, said:

It started with pebbles. After a time, rocks followed Wellington, even at school.
The stones would destroy our home, including the roofs. The attacks are unrelenting.
We have been to a lot of prophets, but the stones follow us there.
In fact, the prophets who have tried to assist us have also been attacked.
We sold the only cow we had in an effort to solve this problem, but nothing has changed.
The stones have been following and attacking everyone wherever we go.
It got worse for Wellington and I had to leave my job in Mutare to come and be with my family in these trying times.
The stones are destroying our houses. As if that is not enough, our clothes also catch fire out of the blue.

Chikukwa’s two sons have since dropped out of school because other children at Masasi High School were caught in the crossfire. Said Wellington:
<blockquote>
The stones would just rain on everybody, but the pinching, biting and assaults from the invisible beings were only directed at me.
I would cry out loudly and people would just stare at me without offering any help.
My teacher is the one who advised me to inform my parents of what was happening to me at school. I have never set foot at school again.
The classroom was torture for me. The attacks were worse in class, even for my younger brother. We both dropped out in March last year.

A teacher at Masasi High School, Matthew Rwanga, confirmed that the Chikukwa brothers were forced to drop out of school by raining stones.
The matter appeared before Chief Marange where it was revealed that Chikukwa’s cousin, Vincent Chikukwa, allegedly murdered the late Rimen Jaramani while panning for gold in Odzi in 2019.
It is suspected that Jaramani’s avenging spirit is causing the problems in the Chikukwa family.
The Chikukwa family’s patriarch, Benjamin Chikukwa, reportedly paid an admission of guilt fine of three beasts to Chief Marange.
However, the alleged avenging spirit is demanding seven cattle and five goats from the Chikukwa family. Headman Nemasasi confirmed the issue. He said:

The Chikukwas have agreed to appease the avenging spirit. I gave them two days to do that and they should be back here on Saturday because they are being attacked by the stones day and night.
We all fear for their lives. Something needs to be done as soon as yesterday.

Stones Follow Children To School

An alleged avenging spirit of a Chimanimani woman is reportedly tormenting the families of her two daughters-in-law after she died with bitterness in 2008.
The late Panganai Muzuzu of Nechirinda Village under Chief Muusha was allegedly poisoned to death by her daughters-in-law and her alleged avenging spirit is now fighting the duo.
It is further alleged that Muzuzu’s manifesting spirit also accuses surviving members of her family of doing nothing to ensure that her alleged killers pay for their crime.
Mazuzu allegedly revealed the names of her alleged killers to close relatives while on her death bed at Mutambara Mission Hospital.
Chief Muusha briefly presided over the matter before referring it to Acting Chief Saurombe who adjourned it to 16 January to allow all the parties involved to attend.
Speaking to The Manica Post, the deceased’s brother, Tizai admitted that his late sister told them before she died that he had been poisoned by Wadzanai Chisara and Sibusisiwe Nzara, her daughters-in-law.
He said he never took the allegations seriously thinking that it was just the usual animosity between a mother-in-law and daughters-in-law. Said Tizai:

Ignoring her last words has cost us as a family. She is seeking retribution from her killers now domiciled in South Africa.
My late sister is now attacking her grandchildren and my children. She wants the culprits brought to book.
When she was on her death bed at Mutambara Mission Hospital following her poisoning, she confided in us the names of the people who had administered the poison on her. Even the medical doctor confirmed that she had been poisoned.
When she disclosed the issue to us, we never took her serious thinking that it was the usual bad blood between a mother-in-law and her daughters-in-law.

It is alleged that one of Mazuzu’s daughters-in-law, Nzara was having marital problems with her husband, Darlington Zuvarigere and the two fought frequently.
Nzara then allegedly teamed up with Chisara and other unidentified women and poisoned Mazuzu.
After the burial, a traditional healer reportedly confirmed the allegations against the two daughters-in-law and their accomplices.
Nzara is also reported to have confessed her involvement in her mother-in-law’s death and even paid an admission of guilty fine at Chief Muusha’s court.
Darlington reportedly fled to South Africa with his wife and has never returned to Zimbabwe.
It is said Tizai and Zuvarigere’s minor daughters are suffering from mental illnesses, while Aleck Zuvarigere said his son died mysteriously. Muzuzu’s other son, Ireland Zuvarigere said:

We tried to engage lawyers so that the matter can be dealt with by the police. We wanted Sibusisiwe Nzara to be extradited from South Africa and face justice here.
However, we ended up dropping the case after failing to pay the lawyers. We do not know what to do.
We do not know if the Government can help with her extradition because we need closure to this issue, otherwise the whole family will perish.

Darlington and his wife are reported to be refusing to be involved in resolving the case and this has left the family in a fix.

Mom's "Avenging Spirit" Tears Family Apart

A Chimaninani man is being tormented by what is believed to be the avenging spirit of his uncle who died early this year with bitterness in his heart towards him (the nephew).
Sekuru Christopher Barara, who died at the age of 70, is tormenting his elder brother’s son, Elias Barara, whom he accuses of snubbing his funeral.
Typically, in cases of avenging spirits, the spirit targets the murderer or their immediate family members but in this case, a man who had nothing to do with the deceased’s death is suffering.
After concluding that the misfortune befalling his family was being caused by Sekuru Barara’s spirit, Elias approached Acting Chief Saurombe’s court for recourse. He said:

Ever since my uncle’s death, I have suffered a lot of misfortunes. I am experiencing serious financial challenges.
When one of my brothers sided with me, his son suddenly became sick and the spirit warned him against doing so, lest his son would die.
My own children are always bed-ridden and I beg for the court’s assistance so that I can also lead a normal life.

The alleged avenging spirit manifested through a spiritualist, Madzimai Regina Tembi of Nyenyedzi Nhanhatu Johane Masowe Church during the court session.
It reportedly confirmed what Elias had told the court and what shocked everyone is that Madzimai Tembi spoke in what they claimed was the late Sekuru Barara’s voice. Said the spiritualist:

You celebrated my death. You snubbed my funeral even though we were a family and neighbours.
Even after the funeral, you did not even bother to come and throw a stone on my grave. Did you hate me that much?
You labelled me a wizard and did not respect me at all. At one time, you fought with me and choked me.
You went around telling anyone who dared to listen to you that I was a dog. Well, you are now leading the life of a dog.
Poverty and you will be inseparable. You will never fend for your family as I am very bitter with you.
</blockquote>
Elias pleaded for forgiveness from his late uncle but his alleged spirit demanded to be given a beast as appeasement before April 2022.
Acting Chief Saurombe advised the Barara family to put their heads together and find an amicable solution to the issue.

Avenging Spirit Torments Man For Snubbing The Deceased's Funeral

An alleged goblin has been harassing a 15-year-old girl in Nyanga, demanding s_x from her and eight beasts from her family as appeasement.
According to The Weekender, for the past three months, the Nyamusa family in Chief Hata’s area was subjected to the wrath of the goblin which was manifesting through their daughter (name withheld).
The Nyamusa family was over a week ago forced to engage the services of Nyanga-based exorcist, Sekuru Shingirai Mukotsanjera, to deliver the teenager from spiritual torment.
The girl is doing Form Four at a Harare school and the spiritual attacks have disturbed her studies as she is preparing to sit for her Ordinary Level examinations this year.
Besides tormenting the teenager, the family also suffered incessant deaths and misfortunes.
The Nyamusa family told The Weekender that the girl would often fall into a trance, and exhibited a strange behaviour for hours before being possessed and tabling the goblin’s demands.
The goblin allegedly belongs to the Nyamusas’ relative and businessman, Joseph Nyamusa Kamutate who cast (kurasirira) the goblin’s spirit on the teenager through a Nyanga traditional healer, Edgegot Matiashe.
Matiashe recently admitted to having supplied the goblin, and wealth-enhancing charms to Kamutate after being cornered by the Nyamusas to exorcise and cleanse the family.
The traditional healer demanded eight beasts for his services and the family forcibly took Kamutate’s cattle to settle the payments.
Matiashe sold some of the beasts, but Kamutate later filed stock theft charges against the sangoma resulting in his subsequent arrest. Matiashe was later released.
According to Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, Matiashe admitted to having supplied Kamutate with the goblin sometime in 1996.
The situation deteriorated after Matiashe’s arrest as the goblin went on an offensive, and inflicted a lot of misfortunes to the family, like divorces, loss of employment, and weird dreams.
The teenager would occasionally fall into trances and would spend days without eating or drinking anything.
Through the advice of Chief Hata, the Nyamusa family engaged Sekuru Mukotsanjera to exorcise the spirit.
The tense and emotionally-filled exorcism ceremony was attended by the Nyamusa family as well as Chief Hata.
The exorcism session took more than two hours until the teenager regained her senses. Said Sekuru Mukotsanjera said:

The goblin is bitter and wants to be returned to its owner. The ceremony we conducted was meant to send back the goblin to at least one of Joseph’s sons or daughters so that it stops tormenting this family.
From now onwards, the family will be at peace because it was very unfair for the spirit, and its owner to torment innocent people including this child who knew nothing about everything.

Goblin Demands Wife, 8 Beasts

The alleged avenging spirit of an Odzi diamond dealer is demanding a two-tonne truck and a grinding mill from his two friends, twelve years after the duo allegedly murdered him.
It is said the spirit of Welldone Mutangabende of Mararira Farm in Odzi is accusing John Muchinganwa and Willard Kushanya of robbing him of his eight-carat diamond in 2008.
The dead man’s spirit is alleged to have further claimed that after killing him, Muchinganwa and Kushanya dumped his body in a Chiadzwa mineshaft.
The spirit indicated that more demands, including some cattle, will be made once the truck and grinding mill are handed over to his family.
The Mutangabende, Muchinganwa and Kushanya families appeared before Chief Marange’s court last week on Sunday where the spirit made the demands.
In an interview with Manica Post, Mutangabende’s younger brother Shingirayi said his brother’s spirit claimed the diamond he was robbed of was worth a truck and grinding mill. He said:
<blockquote>Every interested party was there when the spirit made its demands. Had the spirit told our family members only about its demands, nobody would have believed us.
I am sure everyone would have thought that we are greedy and taking advantage of the situation.
We now wait for the accused people’s families to fulfil these demands. He claims that the eight-carat diamond they robbed him was worth that truck and grinding mill.</blockquote>
Madzibaba Tendai, a prophet who was being consulted by the Muchinganwa and Kushanya families said the families had managed to silence the avenging spirit for years. He said:
<blockquote>They consulted a traditional healer who helped them to silence the spirit (kutsipika) through rituals. The spirit was stored in a gourd. All hell broke loose when the traditional healer died last year.</blockquote>
Mutangabende was allegedly murdered by Muchinganwa and Kushanya in 2008 for his 8-carat diamond.

The two men then staged an accident and made the Mutangabende family believe that their relative had been crushed to death in an illegal diamond mine shaft collapse.
The details of what really transpired only emerged last week after the Muchinganwa and Kushanya families visited the Mutangabendes with the intention of appeasing Mutangabende’s spirit.

A Chiadzwa man is at loggerheads with his 10 sons who are accusing him of killing a person whose avenging spirit is now tormenting them.
Matthias Nyakuwo’s dispute with his sons has since spilled to Mutare Civil Courts, with the father applying for a protection order against his sons.
The Nyakuwo brothers claimed that their father murdered someone in 2010, adding that the avenging spirit is now wreaking havoc in their family.
One of Nyakuwo’s sons told Manica Post that want their father to come out clean on this issue so that they can appease the avenging spirit. He said:
<blockquote>We consulted a prophet at an apostolic church when a family member was sick and the spirit of the murdered villager manifested on the child demanding an audience with our father.
The spirit accused our father of being responsible for the person’s death. We tried to engage our father over the issue but he could not entertain us.
Repeated efforts to find a lasting to this problem have been in vain and that is why our father applied for this protection order.</blockquote>
Mutare magistrate, Xavier Chipato, granted Nyakuwo the protection order against his sons Pearson, Brighton, Uebert, Takudzwa, Urayayi, Albert, Bright, Believe, Livingston and Justice when the matter was brought before him recently.
The protection order bars the 10 brothers from visiting Matthias’ homestead, harassing, assaulting, threatening and physically abusing him.
The Nyakuwo brothers, however, defended their actions, accusing their father of trying to use the order to stop them from addressing the issue of the avenging spirit.

Chiadzwa Man At Loggerheads With His 10 Sons

The families of two men who murdered and robbed their best friend of his diamonds before staging an accident during the diamond rush in Chiadzwa some 12 years ago last week revealed the killers to the victim’s relatives.
Welldone Mutangabende of Mararira Farm in Odzi was allegedly murdered for his diamonds in 2008 by John Muchinganwa and Willard Kushanya.
The Muchinganwa and Kushanya families of Gonon’ono Village last week visited the Mutangabendes with the intention of appeasing Mutangabende’s spirit.
In an interview with Manica Post, Welldone’s brother, Shingirayi Mutangabende said after robbing and killing his brother, the alleged murderers put the body in a shallow diamond mine and then placed a huge rock on top of it.
A police report was made and the matter was treated as sudden death and everyone concluded that he had been crushed by the rock.
Mutangabende’s best friends have now confessed that they killed him as his avenging spirit is causing havoc in their families. Said Shingirayi:
<blockquote>Welldone’s avenging spirit is causing mental illnesses in their families. Kushanya is now mentally ill. He shouts that he killed Welldone after robbing him of his diamonds.
He claims that he kept my brother’s wallet which contained the diamond pieces. We only recovered Welldone’s wallet at Marange Police Station four years after his death.
Muchinganwa is nowhere to be found but his relatives came here to inform us that he and Kushanya killed my brother.
They are only confessing due to the avenging spirit that is wreaking havoc in their families.</blockquote>
The avenging spirit is said to have started manifesting on Muchinganwa’s sister, accusing the two of ruthlessly killing Mutangabende.
This prompted the Kushanya and Muchinganwa families to approach Headman Munyeri Mbare.
The matter will soon appear before Chief Marange’s court.

Avenging Spirit 'Solves' Chiadzwa Mystery After 12 Years

The avenging spirit of a man who was murdered nearly 50 years ago is demanding more cattle after the family of the murderer paid 26 cattle as compensation.
The alleged spirit of Chizemo is reportedly venting its anger on the Mashairenyi family in Mutambara, Chimanimani, following his murder by Erick Mashairenyi in 1974.
Mashairenyi told Chief Mutambara’s court last week on Saturday that he, together with his friend only identified as Musoni, murdered Chizemo.
He said they killed Chizemo after discovering that he was in love with his (Mashairenyi)’s sister.
Mashairenyi said he handed over 18 beasts to the Chizemos in the 1980s in a bid to appease the avenging spirit.
That was after the then Chief Mutambara, the late Sam Mutambara, had instructed him to do so, and not the avenging spirit.
Mashairenyi’s son, Tapuwa, said when the avenging spirit began manifesting in the 1990s, his father developed a mental illness and left home to stay on the streets.
Tapuwa said the family found out that Chizemo’s avenging spirit was behind his father’s mental illness in 2009 when the spirit demanded eight more beasts.
When the top-up was done, Mashairenyi recovered from the mental illness.
But twelve years later, the avenging spirit has begun making fresh demands of two more beasts.
Meanwhile, Tapuwa begged Chief Mutambara to summon the Musoni family so that they will pay the other beast to the Chizemos.
However, Chief Mutambara ordered the Mashairenyis to engage the Musonis and chart a way forward on how to appease the avenging spirit.
Tapuwa claimed that Chizemo’s avenging spirit was affecting his marriages as he has been divorced several times.
But the deceased’s daughter, Sarah Chizemo, said Tapuwa’s collapsed marriages were caused by his philandering rather than by the avenging spirit. She said:
<blockquote>He has had six wives and all of them left because of his womanising antics. Have you ever heard of an avenging spirit that causes promiscuity? They should just pay up what they owe our family and not beat about the bush.
Why would we accept our father’s spirit back into the family when they haven’t paid everything to us? We need what is due to us before conducting the rituals.
Mashairenyi and his friend killed my father and I grew up without a father. I should have been a teacher leading a good life, but I failed to do so because there was no one to support my dream.</blockquote>

Avenging Spirit Makes Unending Demands

The avenging spirit (Ngozi) of a Nyanga businessman Costa Kafikira who died close to 4 decades ago is demanding to be appeased with 75 cattle and 5 virgins, Manica Post reports.
According to the publication, the alleged spirit of the late businessman Costa Kafikira is accusing 5 neighbours of robbing him and killing him through poisoning his beer and dumping his body at a river called Gairezi.
The avenging spirit is fingering Willard Sakupwanya, Charles Fombe, Tsakadzai Mautsi, Tambuzwa Matseketsa and a Benyu who are all late now save for Fombe of the henious act.
Speaking to the publication, the family of the late businessman said they will respect the law of the land and not accept a human being to appease ngozi but they will take 75 cattle:
<blockquote>The spirit is demanding a virgin and 15 beasts from each of the perpetrators’ families, thereby making it five girls and 75 beasts. We, however, stand guided by the laws of the land when it comes to compensation or appeasement of avenging spirits.
We know that the appeasement of avenging spirits with girls, women or any human being was outlawed. All we pray for is justice to prevail so that our uncle rests in peace. We need justice</blockquote>
The publication further claims that the avenging spirit is manifesting on one of the alleged killers’ daughter in law Riona Matseketsa who now dresses and talks like the late Costa. The Matseketsas have already approached the Kafikira family to map a way forward and said:
<blockquote>Four family members have already died and the avenging spirit keeps telling us that more woes will befall the family. It is said my late father was one of Kafikira’s assailants and we cannot deny or accept the claim since he is now late.
But if it is true, we are wallowing in poverty because of my father’s transgression. We need to appease the avenging spirit and be at peace with the Kafikiras.</blockquote>
A traditional healer from the are reportedly advised the Matseketsa to appease the avenging spirit. The case is yet to be heard by the local chief Chief Saunyama.

Avenging Spirit Demands To Be Appeased With 5 Virgins And 75 Cattle

A <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Rusape" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rusape</a> man – Gabriel Mugauri (71) – has confessed to conniving with three accomplices to murder a fellow villager for ritual purposes in 1986.
Mugauri murdered Justine Nyatsanga in connivance with Naison and Edward Ganyani – who are now late – and a third suspect identified only as Manyengavana, who is still at large.
The four murdered Nyatsanga after they were made aware that he was set to travel to Harare to buy a grinding mill.
After the murder, the four took an undisclosed amount of money from him before Manyengavana sliced off his private parts to use for ritual purposes, and then proceeded to dump his body in a bushy area.
The matter only came to light after Nyatsanga’s avenging spirit allegedly started to torment Mugauri’s family through mysterious deaths and incurable mental illnesses.
Mugauri allegedly admitted committing the offence and the police were immediately informed leading to his arrest.

Pastor Petunia Chiriseri has said that the deaths of the three men who had allegedly looted cash and goods after her husband Apostle Charles Chiriseri’s was involved in a fatal accident in 2016 was not a coincidence. Pastor Petunia, however, dismissed talk of an avenging spirit and instead attributed the deaths to God. Speaking at the unveiling of Apostle Chiriseri’s tombstone, Pastor Petunia said,
