Three people were killed in a road accident that occurred on Saturday at the 40-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Harare Road in Beatrice.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said that a Mandaza bus was involved in a head-on collision with a school bus (Glen View 2 High School Bus), resulting in the fatalities. The ZRP said:

The ZRP confirms a fatal road accident which occurred this afternoon at the 40-kilometre peg along Masvingo-Harare Road in Beatrice.
Three people died on the spot when a Mandaza bus was involved in a head-on collision with a school bus. 
The number of injured people is yet to be established. Police are currently at the scene.

This accident occurred just two days after 25 people were killed in an accident involving a bus and a haulage truck at the 262-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road, near Lutumba Toll Gate.
The ZRP said an Urban Connect bus, carrying 65 passengers, collided head-on with an Auro Transport haulage truck that had four occupants on board around 8 AM on Thursday, 13 February.
The crash occurred when the bus attempted to overtake another vehicle. The bus was en route from Harare to Beitbridge, while the truck was travelling in the opposite direction.

Three people died in a crash between two buses in Beatrice. The police confirmed the accident and are investigating. Just two days before, 25 people died in another crash involving a bus and a truck near Lutumba Toll Gate. The first crash happened when a bus tried to pass a vehicle and hit the truck head-on. The second crash was a head-on collision between a Mandaza bus and a school bus. Many people were injured in both accidents.

Three Killed In Collision Between Mandaza Bus And School Bus In Beatrice

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of the remaining five victims of a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 26th April 2024 at the 52-kilometre peg along Harare- Masvingo Road.
16 people were killed in the accident, while 28 others were injured when a commuter omnibus with 44 passengers on board collided head-on with a haulage truck near Beatrice.
On 27 April, the ZRP released the names of 11 of the victims after their bodies were positively identified by their relatives.
In a statement issued this Thursday, 02 May, ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the remaining 5 victims were identified by their next of kin. They are:
<ul>
<li>Tafadzwa Godgiven Nyandoro (6 months), a male infant of Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Edson Banga (49), a male adult of Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Kudzai Lista Banga (28), a female adult of Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Takunda Katiyo (22), a male adult of Old Tafara, Harare.</li>
<li>Dylance Benjamin Masondo (11), a male juvenile of Zinyengere, Epworth, Harare.</li>
</ul>
In an unrelated incident, three people were killed whilst one person was injured on 01 May 2024 along Simon Mazorodze Road, Waterfalls, Harare.
Asst. Comm. Nyathi said a Honda Fit vehicle with two passengers on board hit a pedestrian resulting in the vehicle veering off the road before hitting a tree.
The pedestrian, driver and passenger died on the spot whilst the other passenger sustained some injuries.
The Police said two of the three victims were identified by their next of kin. They are:

<li>Gumisai Kandime (32), a male adult of Ushewekunze, Harare.</li>
<li>Tapfumanei Chisango (36), a male adult of Ushewekunze, Harare.</li>
</ul>
Asst. Comm. Nyathi added that the other victim is yet to be identified by the next of kin while the bodies of the victims were taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. The injured victim is admitted at the same hospital. He said:

Police Release Names Of Remaining Five Beatrice Accident Victims

The Government has declared the Beatrice road traffic accident which claimed the lives of 16 people on Friday, 26th April 2024, a national disaster.
The declaration was announced on Sunday morning by Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Felix Mhona during an interview with <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/beatrice-accident-declared-national-disaster/">The Herald</a> at the accident scene. Said Mhona:

We are saddened by this tragic incident. Government has declared this accident a national disaster. We wish the injured a speedy recovery and we also send our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
</blockquote>
On Saturday, 27 April, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the accident occurred at the 52-kilometre peg along Harare-Masvingo Road.
According to him, the accident occurred after an Adolph haulage truck with no passengers on board, which was travelling towards Harare, hit a VW Polo vehicle from behind. The VW polo vehicle was travelling towards Harare with no passengers on board.
The impact forced the haulage truck to veer off the road to the oncoming lane and was involved in a head-on collision with a Mercedes Benz Sprinter which was travelling towards Chivhu with 44 passengers on board.
The passengers were members of Angels Family Apostolic Church who were on their way to Makumumavi Shrine, Chivhu.
15 passengers died on the scene of the accident and one of the 29 injured victims passed away whilst admitted at Chitungwiza Hospital.
By Saturday, Police had identified 11 of the 16 victims of the accident. The names of the 11 deceased persons were listed as follows:

<li>Ezra Jack, a male infant aged 1 year 1 month of 1794 Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Prudence Mahachi, a female adult aged 31 years 1794 Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Talent Rangwa, a female aged 23 years of 20278, Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Leeroy Kido, a male juvenile aged 8 of 20278 Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Lloyd Kido, a male juvenile aged 4 of 20278 Overspill, Epworth, Harare.</li>
<li>Elmod Ncube, a male adult aged 18 of 20278 Overspill, Epworth Harare.</li>
