A 28-year-old man from Kadoma, Edward Chitivha, was brought before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court on charges of bestiality.
Chitivha, who resides in Tolrose Compound, is accused of sexually assaulting a goat owned by Isheunesu Shangudze, a 40-year-old resident of plot 9 Blagdon Farm, Eiffel Flats.
On the 12th of the month, Shangudze penned his five goats for the night. During the night, Chitivha allegedly entered the goat pen, removed his clothes, and placed them on the ground.
He then tied the legs of a white she-goat to a pole and proceeded to violate the animal.
Shangudze, who was asleep in his house, was awakened by the goat’s cries and went to investigate. 
Upon hearing Shangudze approaching, Chitivha fled the scene, leaving his clothes behind.
A police report was filed, leading to Chitivha’s arrest. He has been remanded in custody to the 17th of September 2024.
In Zimbabwe, bestiality is addressed under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23].
Specifically, Section 74 of the Act criminalises bestiality, defining it as any sexual act between a human and an animal. It reads:

Any person who knowingly commits any sexual act with an animal or bird shall be guilty of bestiality and 
liable to a fine up to or exceeding level fourteen or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or 
both.

A 28-year-old man named Edward Chitivha from Kadoma was arrested for raping a goat. The goat belonged to Isheunesu Shangudze, who heard the goat's cries and caught Chitivha in the act. Chitivha ran away but left his clothes behind. The police caught him and he will be in jail until September 17, 2024. In Zimbabwe, bestiality is illegal under the Criminal Law Act. This means it is a crime for humans to have any sexual contact with animals, like what Chitivha did with the goat.

Kadoma Man (28) Arrested For Raping A Goat

A 40-year-old man, Kimton Sibanda, who is employed as a domestic worker at Bilas Farm in Bulawayo was ordered to perform 350 hours of community service by a magistrate after he pleaded guilty to bestiality charges.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the brief facts are that on 26 March 2024, Sibanda was caught in the act of having sexual intercourse with a donkey by two witnesses inside his employer’s cattle kraal.
The two witnesses reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
Sibanda pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to a wholly suspended 10 months imprisonment. He was ordered to perform 350 hours of community service.
Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act which deals with the crime of bestiality reads:

Any person who knowingly commits any sexual act with an animal or bird shall be guilty of bestiality and liable to a fine up to or exceeding level fourteen or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or both.

40-year-old Man Sentenced To 10 months Imprisonment For Raping A Donkey

A 20-year-old man from Godlwayo Village 3 in Esigodini District, Matabeleland South Province escaped serving jail time despite pleading guilty to two counts of bestiality.
The suspect, Mthandazo Ndlovu, was convicted of raping a goat which reportedly died during the act, apparently of exhaustion.
He recently appeared before Esigodini resident magistrate Nomagugu Sibanda charged with two counts of bestiality as defined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
Ndlovu pleaded guilty to both counts and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
However, the magistrate suspended six months of the sentence for three years on condition he is not convicted of any offence of which bestiality is an element committed within that period.
If he is convicted again for a similar offence within three years, Ndlovu will be sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine.
The magistrate suspended the remaining 12 months on condition that Ndlovu completes 420 hours of community service at Godlwayo Primary School.
The court said what Ndlovu did would make “any right-thinking member of society sick to their stomach” when he raped Brighton Nkomo’s goat to death.
Allegations were that on 28 October 2022 and at around 10 pm Ndlovu, who was employed at Phat-Ore Mine, went to Nkomo’s homestead and upon arrival, he entered his goat pen.
While inside the goat pen, he had sex with one of his female goats. It is reported that the goat died during the act.
The court heard that the following morning Nkomo went to the goat pen and found one of his female goats lying unconscious.
Upon checking the goat, he found it dead with some semen on its rear.
Nkomo reportedly tracked a trail of footprints from the goat pen and they led him to Ndlovu’s home.
On 31 October 2022 and at around 3 AM, Ndlovu went to Luckson Mkandla’s homestead and upon arrival he got into his goat pen.
While inside the pen, he took off all his clothes and raped the goat.
Mkandla was awakened by the goat’s continuous bleating and tiptoed to the pen to investigate.
Upon arrival, he flashed his torch and was shocked to see Ndlovu having sex with one of his female goats.
Ndlovu fled naked leaving behind his clothes in the goat pen but he had already been recognised.
Mkandla reported the matter to the police leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.
The clothes which he left in Mkandla’s goat pen were used in court as an exhibit.

Man (20) To Perform Community Service For Bestiality

A 40-year-old Victoria Falls man has been arraigned before a magistrate after he allegedly performed a sex act on his neighbour’s dog.
The suspect, who is from Chinotimba high-density suburb, appeared before resident magistrate Godswill Mavenge at the Victoria Falls magistrate’s courts on Wednesday charged with bestiality.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Allegations are that the man (name withheld for ethical reasons) allegedly abused the dog at his neighbour’s residence while standing behind a mango tree on 13 October. Said the prosecutor:

On October 13 at around 3 AM, the complainant Nolwazi Nyoni saw the accused behind a mango tree having sexual intercourse with her dog.
The accused was asked why he was doing that by the complainant and he just apologised.

According to a police sworn statement made by the complainant, the accused fled after committing the offence. Nyoni said:

Man (40) Appears In Court For Bestiality Involving Neighbour’s Dog

What happened:

Ndlovu, who was employed at Phat-Ore Mine, fled naked leaving behind his clothes in the goat pen.
Mkandla went and reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest.
Ndlovu is expected to appear before the Esigodini resident magistrate charged with two counts of bestiality as defined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
His clothes which he left in Mkandla’s goat pen are also expected to be used as an exhibit.

A 20-year-old Man Rapes A Goat To Death

Embarrassment drove a Binga man to commit suicide by hanging about two weeks ago after he was caught by his wife committing bestiality with a cow.
Reports indicate that Joseph Tshuma (61) from Kamwindi Village in Lusulu killed himself early in the morning on 16 February 2021.
Tshuma reportedly left his wife in bed and went to the kraal to quench his sexual desires with a cow.
He was unfortunately caught red-handed by his wife whereupon he told her that he was going to kill himself.
In spite of the wife’s bid to convince him to reconsider taking his life by insisting that she will keep the incident secret, Tshuma went ahead and hanged himself.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda confirmed the incident. She said:
<blockquote>I can confirm a sudden death report involving a Binga man Joseph Tshuma from Kamwindi Village in Lusulu who hanged himself on 16 February 2021 after being caught by his wife, Senzeni Sibanda, committing bestiality with a cow.
Since no foul play was suspected, a post-mortem was waived by the Binga magistrate.</blockquote>
A villager who refused to be named told NewZimbabwe.com that Tshuma went to the cattle pen and tied one of the cows on a pole and committed bestiality.
As fate would have it, his wife decided to follow him ostensibly to check on one of the bulls which was sick the previous day. Said the villager:
<blockquote>When Tshuma saw his wife, he just froze and could not even muster the energy to say a word. The wife, unsure of how her husband will react, rushed back to the house in disbelief.</blockquote>
Tshuma out of shame, removed the rope that he was tying the cow with and shouted to his wife that he was going to hang himself. Tshuma’s wife’s attempt to dissuade him from killing himself in vain.
She shouted for help from neighbours but by the time they arrived, Tshuma’s lifeless body was hanging from a tree branch.

Man (61) Caught By Wife Committing Bestiality, Hangs Self In Shame

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Republic_Police" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)</a> has warned members of the public to desist from online dating following the r_pe of a Harare woman by her boyfriend who lured her to his place after they met for the first time.
ZRP issued the warning on Monday through a post on its official Twitter handle. The warning read:
<blockquote>A 29-year-old woman was r_ped after she was lured to meet her online boyfriend at night. The victim met the accused along S. Machel, Harare for the first time and the two drove to a house where the complainant was later r_ped.
We urge members of the public against online dating and social media communication which later on leads to r_pe.</blockquote>
In another post, police warned citizens against practising acts of bestiality after a 92-year-old man was caught in the act with a dog. Police said:
<blockquote>A<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Karoi" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> Karoi</a> man (92) has been arrested for bestiality after he was caught in the act committing the offence with a dog. It is a serious offence to perform unnatural acts with animals.</blockquote>
