Big Sipiliano of KB169 Jacha in Epworth <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/04/14/man-who-violated-corpse-awaits-sentence/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">has been sentenced to 11 months in prison for sexually abusing a corpse at a funeral in his neighbourhood.</a>
Sipiliano was convicted for violating the corpse’s rights and indecent assault after he grabbed one of the female mourners from behind for trying to pull him away from the dead body.
In sentencing him, magistrate Isheunesu Matova ruled that Sipiliano had degraded the constitutional rights of the dead body. Said Matova:
<blockquote>It is weird for a person to go on top of the corpse and do sexual movements. The court is aware of the constitutional rights of dead bodies. The matter could be worse if he removed his manhood.</blockquote>
On the first count of violating the rights of the corpse, Matova sentenced Sipiliano to six months imprisonment.
The sentence was, however, wholly suspended on the condition that he performs 210 hours of community service at Epworth Police Station.
On the second count of indecent assault, Sipiliano was sentenced to five months imprisonment and two months were suspended on the condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
Three months were further suspended on the condition he performs 105 hours of community service at the same police station.
The magistrate noted that Sipiliano was a family man and he would give him a chance to look after his family although his moral blameworthiness was high.
Sipiliano had denied the allegations, saying he only went on top of the corpse but did not sexually abuse it.

Harare Man Jailed 11 Months For Sexually Abusing Corpse

A Harare man who allegedly abused the corpse of a woman he had a crush on during her lifetime is expected to be sentenced this Wednesday.
Big Sipiliano was convicted by Harare magistrate Sheunesu Matova after he found him guilty of violating a corpse and indecent assault.
Sipiliano of KB169 Jacha in Epworth pleaded not guilty to the charges arguing in his defence that he never committed the offence as alleged by the State.
Prosecutors Shambidzani Fungura and Vincent Chidembo told the court that on 2 January 2021, the informant was attending a funeral with other neighbours in a room where the body lay in state.
It is alleged that Sipiliano got inside the room and said:
<blockquote>Musikana uyu ndakabvira kare ndichimuda. Dai ndakatorara naye hangu achiri mupenyu, manje hazviperi zvakadaro. (I have always loved this woman. I wish I had been intimate with her before her death, this will not end well).</blockquote>
It is further alleged that Sipiliano went on to uncover the body and said she was still looking beautiful.
He allegedly went on top of the corpse and started making sexually suggestive moves with his clothes on.
One of the mourners tried to restrain Sipiliano from the act but it was in vain as he allegedly threatened to assault her.
After the act, Sipiliano went to the informant and grabbed her from behind.
