Bikita Minerals Football Club has denied social media rumours suggesting that its Premier Soccer League (PSL) franchise is for sale.
In a statement released on Friday, December 13, club spokesperson Collen Nikisi said that the claims originated from a mischievous party seeking to destabilise the club for personal gain. Reads the statement:

Bikita Minerals FC has noted with disquiet the unfortunate rumours of the sale of the club on social media. The club takes this opportunity to categorically refute the blatant lies and publicly state.
1. Bikita Minerals is not for sale. The information published this Friday in a WhatsApp group from Nyika Growth Point is flatly false.
2. Bikita Minerals Pvt Ltd (main sponsor) is just as committed to Bikita Minerals fc as he was on the first day, as he has recently shown with actions such as the site approvals and designs of the new Lithium stadium. This is an important project for the club and the province, of which all Lithium Boys fans will be able to feel proud.
3. The club wish to dispel false, unfounded rumours with this statement. This false information has been propagated mainly by a mischievous party and some of their collaborators in that WhatsApp group, who try to destabilise Bikita Minerals FC for personal gain. A report has since been made to the Police
4. Our supporters and stakeholders must not panic, this club is not going anywhere, and our focus is on the resumption of the league. We will not allow this to distract the coach and the players and on Saturday 14 December, the club will assess under 20 players scouted by the club’s chief scouts.

The rumors are lies spread by people wanting to cause trouble for their own gain. The club is committed to their fans and the community. They are not going anywhere and are preparing for the league to start again. Supporters should not worry, the team is staying put and working hard to be successful. Police were informed about the false rumors.

Bikita Minerals FC Dismisses Sale Rumours

Bikita Minerals Football Club’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) status has not yet been confirmed by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee after Tenax lodged a late appeal to ZIFA as well as the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC), <a href="https://www.sundaymail.co.zw/bikita-minerals-in-limbo">reported The Sunday Mail</a>.
ZIFA then delayed the decision to confirm Bikita Minerals as the 2023 Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) Division One champions.
Bikita Minerals were promoted to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League ahead of Tenax following a boardroom decision.
Tenax had seemingly won the championship on the final day of the 2023 season but the ERSL later promoted Bikita Minerals into the Castle Lager Premiership.
Bikita Minerals were awarded maximum points from their final match of the season on the basis that Grayham had used an ineligible player.
The awarding of the points placed Bikita Minerals on top of the log standings, and Tenax in second position.
Tenax had finished a point above Bikita Minerals after winning their game 6-1 at home while the lithium miners had been held to a 1-1 draw at Grayham.
ZIFA chief executive officer Yvonne Mapika Manwa wrote to the ERSL to attend the Appeals Committee hearing this week. She wrote:

The Zimbabwe Football Association is in receipt of your letter dated 21st January 2024 and hereby acknowledges its contents.
The letters from Tenax Football Club appear to clearly confirm that they are complaining against the Eastern Region Soccer League.
It is not in accordance with both substantive and procedural justice that they present their case against a party that they have a grievance with.
You are therefore advised that the meeting will go as planned and you will cater for your travelling.
</blockquote>
In response to ZIFA’s summons, ERSL administrator Fungai Munyoro questioned why ZIFA was entertaining an appeal from Tenax when the club were not party to the initial dispute which involved Bikita and Grayham.
The ERSL insists that the matter was dealt with in line with the league’s standing rules and FIFA statutes.

ZIFA Eastern Region Division One side Tenax Football Club are not happy with the boardroom decision to promote Bikita Minerals Football Club in their place.
Tenax had seemingly won the championship on the final day of the 2023 season but the Eastern Region Soccer League later promoted Bikita Minerals into the Castle Lager Premiership via a boardroom decision.
Tenax had finished a point above Bikita Minerals after winning their game 6-1 at home while the lithium miners had been held to a 1-1 draw at Grayham.

Tenax have since reached out to the ZIFA Normalisation Committee as well as the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) for possible intervention.
<a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/tenax-approach-zifa-sports-commission/">Chronicle</a> quoted Tenax chairman Stefani Masina as saying:

We are not happy with the Eastern Region Soccer League’s decision to award maximum points to Bikita Minerals and their subsequent promotion of the club into the Premiership.
We believe that this was a pre-planned thing meant to disadvantage us. We have reached out to the SRC as well as the (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee for assistance on the matter.
To us, it is clear that the parties involved connived to snatch Premiership promotion from us.
There several irregularities that we raised in our letter of complaint. We were surprised to learn from the media when the ESRL leader Davison Muchena urged clubs to acquaint themselves with the laws of the game when the same league is presiding over a breach of the same laws. We just want football to be the winner.

In their letter of complaint, Tenax queried why the match between Bikita Minerals and Grayham was allowed to proceed after one of the clubs had complained about the use of an illegible player.
To support their argument, Tenax cited an incident sometime in July when they complained about the intended use of two ineligible players by Renco Mine FC.
Following their complaint, consultations were instantly made over the phone with ERSL officials, who quickly checked with the ZIFA player database and the two players were barred from participating.
However, this was not the case with the Bikita Minerals versus Grayham FC match yet there were ZIFA ERSL officials at the match.
