Bill And Melinda Gates Life In Pictures

<p>Multi-billionaire and Microsoft founder <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/">Bill Gates has announced their divorce that ends their 27-year-old marriage with his 58-year-old wife Melinda.</a></p>
<p>Although the duo’s joint statement did not state any reason for the divorce, Melinda in 2019 said their marriage has been “incredibly hard”, saying that Bill, 65, regularly works 16-hours per day and can find it hard to make time for the family.</p>
<p><a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/03/14/bill-gates-steps-down-from-microsoft-board/">Bill recently resigned from Microsoft Board</a> and from Warren Buffet’s massive holding company Berkshire Hathaway.</p>
<p>The duo had 3 children together, Jennifer, 25, Rory, 21, and Phoebe, 18.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://twitter.com/BillGates/status/1389316412259270657">tweet</a>, however, indicated that despite the divorce, the duo will continue their philanthropic work together as Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. The pair said in a joint statement posted on Twitter on Monday:</p>

<p>Businessman and Philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa has revealed that his AU task force has managed to secure a drug called dexamethasone which is being used by hospitals in Europe and the US to treat COVID-19, The Sunday mail reports.</p>
<p>This was revealed by Masiyiwa himself as he was updating the AU Chairman South African president Cyril Ramaphosa, Masiyiwa said:</p>
<blockquote><p>I am pleased to advise you that at our request, the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation has committed to joining our initiative to secure a drug to treat Covid-19 called dexamethasone, which is being used in hospitals in the US, and Europe on very sick patients following the results of the recovery trial.</p>
<p>The trial demonstrated significant reduction of mortality, saving lives that we couldn’t save without this intervention. About one million people will benefit from the drug [equivalent to nine million tablets]which will be distributed proportionately for free to all countries that are interested in its use.</p></blockquote>
<p>Masiyiwa also expressed excitement about the work he was doing for the task force as he said the UNICEF catalogue was now listed and purchasable and vendors were registering every day. While updating Ramaphosa Masiyiwa said:</p>
<blockquote><p>Mr President, l am pleased to report that the platform has proved popular with suppliers and is receiving applications from an average of 40 new vendors per day.</p>
<p>We are also zeroing in on ensuring that we expand access of our platform to hospitals and local authorities approved by governments of member states. We believe this will ensure critical supplies are available at the hospital level in a speedy and timely fashion.</p></blockquote>

Masiyiwa Through The Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation Secures A Drug To Treat COVID-19

<p>Melinda Gates the wife of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has predicted that the novel coronavirus will leave a trail of dead bodies on African streets due to the state of the economies and infrastructures in those countries.</p>
<p>Melinda Gates who is also a co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation equated the predicted scenario to that of Ecuador where dead bodies are found on the streets as authorities and citizens are overwhelmed.</p>
<p>She made the remarks while speaking to CNN recently. She said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>It is going to be horrible in the developing world. Part of the reasons you are seeing the case numbers still do not look very bad is because they don’t have access to many tests. Look at what is happening in Ecuador, they are putting bodies out on the streets, you are going to see that in countries in Africa.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Her remarks echo those of her <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/02/18/bill-gates-warns-coronavirus-could-cause-over-10-million-excess-deaths-in-africa/">husband who also predicted that over ten million are likely to die of coronavirus in Africa</a> because most health systems on the continent are collapsed.</p>
<p>She is speaking when the number of cases recorded on the continent is steadily rising with some also predicting a worst-case scenario in the near future.</p>

EFF Former Spokesperson Taunts Bill Gates Over Coronavirus Vaccines Saga

<p>Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has announced that he is stepping down from the company’s board to spend more time on philanthropic activities.</p>
<p>Gates, 65, has also left the board of Warren Buffett’s massive holding company, Berkshire Hathaway.<br/>
Mr Gates stepped down from his day-to-day role running Microsoft in 2008.</p>
<p>Announcing his latest move, Mr Gates said that he wants to focus on global health and development, education and tackling climate change. He added:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>I am looking forward to this next phase as an opportunity to maintain the friendships and partnerships that have meant the most to me, continue to contribute to two companies of which I am incredibly proud, and effectively prioritise my commitment to addressing some of the world’s toughest challenges.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Gates who dropped out of college and moved to New Mexico where he set up Microsoft with his childhood friend, Paul Allen, is listed by Forbes as the world’s second-richest man after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and is worth $103.6bn (£84.4bn).</p>
<p>He is, together with his wife Melinda Gates, already doing philanthropic work through their Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation.</p>

Bill Gates Steps Down From Microsoft Board

<p>Researchers are reportedly testing a once month oral contraceptive according to the Financial Gazette. The pill which is designed to withstand the stomach’s strong acidity will slowly release hormones the entire month to prevent unplanned pregnancies.</p>
<p>According to the Financial Paper:</p>

<p>A US team, funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has tested it in pigs and hopes human trials can start within a few years.</p>
