The Sunday Mail columnist whose pseudonym is Bishop Lazarus has said President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s despised projects are the ones that will win him the 2023 elections.
Bishop Lazarus is suspected to be President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba.
The columnist claims that some politicians, in an apparent reference to the opposition, are laughing at the projects which they view as insignificant, not knowing the importance they have to the intended beneficiaries. Said Bishop Lazarus:
<blockquote>Bishop Lazarus has always known that some politicians are hopeless dimwits, but he never thought they could be incorrigibly naïve and daft to the extent of being blind to tectonic shifts happening around the country that are clearly an existential threat to them.
You should have seen how they all laughed and pooh-poohed the recently commissioned bridge that straddles Ruya River and provides an ideal and God-sent thoroughfare to Karanda Mission Hospital.
Most of the narratives obsessed about the suitability of the bridge as a modern carriageway for alien vehicular traffic and reduced beneficiary communities to non-entities whose erstwhile struggles are not worthy of discussion or consideration.
Their former daily struggles remained an insignificant footnote for haughty and snobbish political elites.
It was the same drama when Pembi River Bridge was launched on July 15 last year after a major facelift, or when ED commissioned a new borehole to serve three communities in Nyamandlovu, Matabeleland North.
You have to be irredeemably ignorant not to discern the political connotations of such hugely transformative projects…
The bridge over Ruya River, Pembi River Bridge and the borehole in Nyamandlovu should not be viewed in isolation.
Do you still remember the Chombwe Water Bridge commissioned on December 21 to supply piped water to more than 10 000 households, including schools, clinics and business centres in Chivi, Masvingo?
Such projects, which are changing people’s lives, are already underway in various parts of the country.
In the 2021 Budget, Prof Mthuli Ncube allocated a combined $590 million to Zinwa and DDF to procure drilling rigs, while an additional $741 million was set aside for borehole rehabilitation and maintenance…
Imagine the impact that would be made between now and 2023.
This is how elections are rigged; most definitely how the 2023 elections are being rigged — by fulfilling election promises and materially changing lives for the better.</blockquote>
Bishop Lazarus also says the opposition’s campaign strategies, especially in the rural areas are no match to those of the ruling party.
These remarks come as ZANU PF is being accused of having connived with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), using violence and vote-buying to manipulate previous elections and is reportedly planning to rig future ones.

An opinionist writing for the Sunday Mail said the time for a revolution is now. Bishop Lazourous, the opinionist’s alias said the worst prison in this life is the mind and we as Zimbabweans seem to be living in a prison in our minds.
Opined the Bishop:
<blockquote>Bishop Lazarus believes that we need a revolution to unlearn the decadent habits of the past and repurpose our minds for the onerous task that lies ahead.And, of course, we need to re-invent our work ethic to give tailwinds to our current push to prosperity. We really cannot afford to be slothful.
Zimbabwe is on an inexorable march to success, and those who doubt this simply have to look at the key milestones that have been recorded this year, notwithstanding the current power shortages and associated challenges.
As German historian and philosopher of history Oswald Spengler noted in his work “The Decline of the West” “Individuals perform the duties arranged by the inevitable forces of history. Those who are willing participants lead the way; those who are not willing are simply dragged along.” Beware of being dragged along.</blockquote>

OPINION: We Are Living In A Prison

The state-owned weekly, The Sunday Mail newspaper is reported to have fired its deputy editor Munyaradzi Huni after 25 years of service. Online publication, ZimLive.com reports that Huni wrote a Sunday Mail column under the name Bishop Lazarus which mainly targeted opposition political leaders. Huni also ran the ‘Second Chimurenga Chronicles’ a project to document the experiences of former liberation fighters.
He is reported to have told friends that he had been informed that “the system wants you gone.” There are allegations that he was “too close” to opposition leader Nelson Chamisa. Zimpapers is yet to comment on the matter.

Sunday Mail Deputy Editor Fired

The columnist who writes for the state-owned weekly newspaper, the Sunday Mail, under the pseudonym Bishop Lazarus has urged Zanu-PF to avoid a Government of National Unity (GNU) saying that this would weaken the ruling party. Bishop Lazarus called for Zanu-PF and the MDC Alliance to avoid each other at all costs.
<blockquote>Now let me turn to today’s sermon proper. All the stubbornness by the MDC-Alliance, all the reckless statements by the opposition leaders and all the futile trips to the courts by little Chamisa are meant to push President Mnangagwa to agree to enter into this creature called Government of National Unity. Little Chamisa knows that he won’t win at the courts, but he thinks by holding the country to ransom, President Mnangagwa will feel the heat and succumb to the pressure to form the GNU.
….The story of Abram and Lot shows us that, while indeed there is strength in unity, there are times when living separately is the best. This is the case with the current Zanu – PF and the current MDC-Alliance. These parties have to avoid each other at all costs.
From the Zanu – PF perspective, the GNU is bad for a number of reasons. Zanu – PF won the two-thirds majority in Parliament and President Mnangagwa won the presidential election. As a result, there is no need for Zanu – PF to enter into any sort of GNU with the opposition.
Any form of GNU with the MDC-Alliance will weaken Zanu – PF because some members and supporters of the ruling party will feel betrayed that they worked so hard to defeat the opposition, only for the opposition to sneak into power through the back door which is sugar-coated as GNU.
…Zanu – PF should not be tricked by the West into thinking that the situation has gotten so much out of hand such that the GNU is the only way out. Some will bring in arguments from the 2009 GNU saying it brought “good tidings” to the country but just as the GNU was temporary, the “good tidings” were temporary. Zimbabwe needs permanent solutions. We can’t continue living in this vicious cycle of temporary relief that takes us nowhere.
As for the MDC-Alliance, the GNU will destroy the party. As it is, the Alliance is too weak. Just imagine what will happen when a few people in the party get ministerial jobs and start enjoying the comfort of those luxurious monster vehicles and Government allowances? Many will cross the floor to Zanu – PF, if not openly then in their hearts. This has happened in the past.</blockquote>

"GNU Is Not Good For President Mnangagwa, It’s Not Good For Zanu – PF, It’s Not Good For Little Chamisa"

The columnist who writes for the state-owned weekly newspaper, the Sunday Mail, under the pseudonym Bishop Lazarus has called for Zanu-PF to prioritize amending the provision which suspends the inauguration of the president, pending the decision by the Constitutional Court. Writes Bishop Lazarus,
<blockquote>You now see why I have always told you that democracy is a fallacy and voting doesn’t really matter? American writer, Mark Twain puts it aptly when he says: “If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.”
This business where people have voted for their preferred leader and soon after that the same people have to start calculating days when this and that will happen just because of some bad loser is just not on. Just like what Professor Lovemore Madhuku recently said, that provision that puts the inauguration of the President on hold pending the decision by the Constitutional Court should be Zanu – PF’s business number one when Parliament sits.
Opposition lawyers argue that the provision to put the inauguration on hold was meant to guard against a phenomenon known as “rush to inauguration,” but this is all a lie. There is no “rush to inauguration.” It’s called “rush to fulfil the wishes of the people.” That provision to put elections on hold because of a constitutional challenge yakaiswa nemagwara anoziva kuti achagara achidyiwa.

Zanu-PF Should Remove Provision Which Suspends Inauguration Of President When There Is A Court Challenge - Sunday Mail Columnist

In yesterday’s edition of The Sunday Mail, columnist Bishop Lazarus said Deputy Finance Minister Terence Mukupe is in the departure lounge.
Bishop Lazarus said he cannot spend much time discussing on Mukupe because he is on his way out. Part of the column reads:
<blockquote>I know many are itching to know what the Bishop thinks about Deputy Minister Mukupe — well, it has never been my business to spend energy on those in the departure lounge. And by the way, I think the motor-mouth Biti finally got his match because he can be so uncouth, but still I won’t waste time in the departure lounge.</blockquote>
Mukupe was involved in three incidents which include making reckless claims that the military would not accept MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa as the country’s new leader if he were to win the country’s forthcoming national elections.

Deputy Finance Minister Terence Mukupe Is On His Way Out: Bishop Lazarus

The columnist who writes for the state-owned weekly newspaper, the Sunday Mail columnist under the pseudonym Bishop Lazarus has warned former first lady Grace Mugabe that things are likely going to end very badly for her. Bishop Lazarus called for another operation Restore Legacy at former president Robert Mugabe’s Blue Roof Mansion so that Grace becomes fully aware of her precarious situation. Lazarus is blaming Grace for her husband’s involvement in the new opposition party, National Patriotic Front (NPF), saying that the new party is  “actually Professor Jonathan Moyo’s project and Grace Mugabe’s dream.” Wrote Bishop Lazarus:
<blockquote>Bishop Lazarus was alarmed when he saw some Zanu-PF youths last week chanting; “Pasi naMugabe!” No, no, no! Let’s not fall into Jonathan’s evil trap. That is exactly what he wants and we should never, ever give it to him.
Instead, let’s take “Operation Restore Legacy” to its rightful conclusion. Inzwa! Inzwa, manyepo. Hehe, Bishop is saying; “Grace and Mugabe, ngavarambaniswe.” Ummm, imi vanhu musamhanye. If that were to happen I don’t think anyone would shed tears, but my thinking is that as a matter of urgency we need to rescue the former president.
Ezekiel 12 vs 2 says: “Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious house.” Former president Mugabe has been taken hostage in this rebellious house.
People like Father Mukonori, Father Ribeiro, Dr Gideon Gono and former presidents like Chissano, Mbeki and Kaunda among others should be dispatched to the Blue Roof Mansion to make the former president understand what is going on. These people should make the former First Lady understand the trouble she is putting herself into. All this is likely to end very, very bad for her.
After realising that “mudhara wedu” has fallen for their evil plan, Jonathan and his gangsters are now flying him to South Africa to make him believe. Surely, we can’t let Jonathan do this to the former president. If we let things go as they are, let’s brace for more embarrassing statements from the former president. It’s a blue lie that age is nothing but just a number.</blockquote>

Elders Should Make Grace Understand The Trouble She Is Putting Herself In, This Will End Very Badly For Her

The columnist who writes for the state-owned weekly newspaper, the Sunday Mail columnist under the pseudonym Bishop Lazarus has berated exiled former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo for accusing President Emmerson Mnangagwa of “ambulance chasing propaganda”<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/01/05/president-emmerson-mnnagagwa-vists-tsvangiriai-at-his-highlands-home/" rel="noopener" target="_blank"> after his visit to Morgan Tsvangirai</a>. After the visit, Moyo tweeted:
<blockquote>This is no PR coup and no history. It’s ambulance-chasing propaganda for the optics of exploiting the poor health of a terminally ill political rival. The propaganda is cynical, crude, desperate and un-African. It intrudes into and violates a constitutionally protected right to privacy</blockquote>
Bishop Lazarus claimed that Moyo was not the right person to speak on this topic as he had exploited the death of his daughter Zanele in order to garner sympathy. He also accused Moyo of abandoning his wife and family when things turned south during Operation Restore Legacy.
Wrote Bishop Lazarus:
<blockquote>Where do we start? Prof Moyo is accusing President Mnangagwa of turning to what he calls “ambulance-chasing propaganda” and went on to allege that the President was exploiting the “poor health of a terminally ill political rival”.
Well, let’s take this clever professor to 2015 after the tragic death of his daughter Zanele. Let me make myself clear here – this sermon is by no means meant to show disrespect to Zanele or the mother. Zanele was a wonderful kid and may her soul rest in peace! But we need to remind the father of something that he thinks we have forgotten.
When Zanele passed on, Prof Moyo turned to what I call “coffin-chasing propaganda”, using the death of her daughter for sympathy mining. Yes, the father was moaning and clearly, he was crushed, but he went on to plant stories and cook up theories that left many people wondering whether this was a father vari kuchema mwana wavo?
Maybe this was just a grieving father, but he put up a show that left those watching from a distance wondering whether he was not using the death of his daughter to gain political capital and sympathy. That’s “coffin-chasing propaganda”. Exploiting the death of a dear daughter. This Bishop doesn’t have a short memory.
And how did the cooked-up theories and the planted stories die – it later turned out that an overdose of drugs had taken the life out of the Professor’s daughter. I could say more, but I want sweet Zanele to sleep in peace.
Prof Moyo also wants to preach to us about being “unAfrican”. Kikikiki! Imi professor kwanai mhani. Akukwane wena mdala Jontso!
Prof Moyo is not qualified to preach to us about being “unAfrican”. There is no African man who abandons his wife and kids when in trouble. African men stand for and with their wives and kids in times of trouble. But what did the professor do during Operation Restore Legacy? He dumped his wife, a foreigner for that matter, and his kids at former President Mugabe’s house. Leaving even a mentally challenged son in the care of a 93-year-old man? Hakuna baba vakadaro muAfrica.

Supporters of President Emmerson Mnangagwa have used Zanele’s death to attack Moyo on a number of occasions. In September during the Zanu-PF succession fights, Gokwe-Nembudziya MP Mayor Justice Wadyajena and Jones Musara made accusations on Twitter <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/09/05/id-never-murder-daughter-love-power-mnangagwa-supporters-accuse-moyo/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">suggesting that Moyo may have killed his daughter for ritual purposes, in order to gain power</a>. The accusation was repeated in October after Moyo had suggested that<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/10/08/mnangagwa-supporters-accuse-moyo-killing-daughter-moyos-arv-slur/" rel="noopener" target="_blank"> Mnangagwa’s vomiting and diarrhoea (from alleged poisoning) could have been induced by “chronic use of antibiotics or ARVs (Anto-Retro Viral).”</a>
