Yesterday Build Zimbabwe Alliance leader and cleric Dr Noah Manyika was interviewed by Zimbo TV journalist Carole Nyakudya via Facebook Live. Below are 10 important points that we identified from the one hour interview:

<li>Even though he described himself as an honest person, Manyika said that there is always a temptation to fail hence the need for accountability mechanisms.</li>
<li>Build Zimbabwe Alliance has 150 people who have expressed interest to run for office and they base their selection criteria on competence and not loyalty.</li>
<li>Manyika said that he is not a member of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) as others believe him to be.</li>
<li>He is not opposed to the idea of a “Grand Coalition” but said that it has to be a winning coalition not just a coalition of numbers or political parties. He also suggested a process where voters have an input in the process. He however said they are talking with other political parties when asked by a caller.</li>
<li>His party is for a business resuscitation plan which will focus at the resuscitation of the economy at provincial level.</li>
<li>Build Zimbabwe Alliance will compensate former white owners who lost farms during the land reform programme. He will undertake a land audit if elected into power. He said that property rights are an important aspect to revive the economy.</li>
<li>He believes that he does not have to have “wounds of the struggle” that is being beaten or jailed to prove that he is an authentic opposition leader.</li>
<li>Build Zimbabwe Alliance will not go after top Zanu PF officials if they win the 2018 election and with regards to Gukurahundi will consult survivors of the period and map a way forward.</li>
<li>Despite the  with Evan Mawarire the two re not members of the same movement or party</li>
<li>Build Zimbabwe Alliance will soon embark on a rural voters’ campaign similar to the MDC-T’s door to door campaign</li>

10 things we learnt from Dr Noah Manyika's interview with Zimbo TV

Dr <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Noah_Manyika">Noah Manyika</a>, leader of Build Zimbabwe Alliance said that if he wins the next general he will cut the number of cabinet posts by more than half and also reduce the number of legislators in parliament.  Manyika says he would cut at least 16 cabinet posts and have a cabinet of 14. He added that cabinet posts should not be used as rewards for loyalists and promised to appointbest-qualifiedified personnel to rebuild the economy.  He also decried the huge expense bill for the government due to the bloated cabinet and parliament.  Speaking at a press conference today, Manyika said:
<blockquote>For 37 years, the ruling party has burdened our country with a bloated government whose size served no other purpose except to accommodate party loyalists. In the event our party is honored with the mandate to lead our country, we will eliminate over 16 ministries, including all deputy minister positions, and create a lean, high-performing cabinet of fourteen members whose preoccupation will not be fighting wars that have already been won, but measurably advancng and protecting the welfare and liberties of every Zimbabwean citizen. The leaders our country deserves will have more than just technocratic ability. They will be selfless leaders who want for the least of us what they want for themselves.
In 2013, opposition parties in Zimbabwe – in a classic case of politicians looking after their own interests – astonishingly agreed to a dramatic extension of the patronage system through a massive expansion of the legislature to 350 members. The Build Zimbabwe Alliance will field candidates for parliament who are committed to the drastic reduction of non-productive government spending, even if that means supporting the elimination of their own parliamentary seats.</blockquote>

Dr Noah Manyika says he will cut cabinet posts by more than half and reduce the size of parliament

Newly formed party Build Zimbabwe is offering a fellowship for Zimbabweans in the diaspora. The party has unveiled a one year fellowship where they will offer the recipient accommodation and resources to work in solving any one of the problems that are in Zimbabwe.
