Standup comedian Carl Joshua Ncube and his wife Nelsy said they decided to move into a tent because they were tired of paying rent at accommodation facilities which they rarely use.
After the Victoria Falls Carnival last year, the couple decided to move out of their lodgings in the resort town and stay in a tent at the Rest Camp. Noticing how convenient it was as they were staying right in the CBD, they decided to challenge themselves to construct a caravan. They are currently refurbishing a coster vehicle which was donated by a well wisher in Victoria Falls. The caravan which they have named Bumblebee, already has a bed, couch, refrigerator, power points and working lights. It is nearing completion with the two targeting to move in soon.
Speaking on the conversion of the coster into a caravan Carl Joshua Ncube said:
<blockquote>We were given a bus shell that we’re converting into a solar powered caravan. We’ve already started the process of converting the bus into a living room. It’ll have one bed, L shaped couch, kitchen sink, stove and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. The process has been amazing and a learning experience though it’s also been challenging. I had to learn to do carpentry which is something that I have never done before in my entire life. We’re getting our notes on the conversion from YouTube.</blockquote>
Once the solar powered caravan is ready, Carl said he will use it to tour Africa where he has comedy shows lined up. He has already been booked for 20 shows in eight countries. But before touring, either him or Nelsy need to buy a car which they will use to tow the caravan and most importantly, acquire driver’s licences.

Carl Joshua Ncube, Wife Speak On Living In A Tent, Caravan

Popular comedian Carl Ncube and his wife Nelsy, have moved into a tent and now live there as part of their new minimalist approach to life. The celebrity couple posted a video to their Facebook this week showing their tent and explaining their new approach to living simple. Their tent is at a Victoria Falls Rest Campsite. The family is also trying to move off the power grid and rely on alternative sources of power.
Said Ncube:
<blockquote>I am even getting a bike and living off solar. We are the masters of our own destiny. I do not want to pay rent. I want to own my own property. Right now I own a tent. I aspire to own a caravan, a truck and a bus.
Just know that everything is going to US dollar. When you get to my age (40) and realise that since I left home at 18 and been paying rent till 39 I have used $176 000.</blockquote>

Carl Joshua Ncube’s wife Nelsy has been discharged from Health Bridge, a private hospital in Victoria Falls. Writing on his Facebook account, Carl said his wife is now recovering at home.
Said Carl:
<blockquote>It was a rough night with Nelsy because of this lung infection which is presenting itself as asthmatic attacks, although she’s not asthmatic. Last night, (Monday) something kept triggering attacks and coughing bouts but I discovered that if she even got a slight bit of cold she would get set off, the same as if she went outside. Have been keeping her warm and inhaler on hand and she has been stable since early this morning. For now though, so far so good. I’m trying to make her not be a micro manager which is a hard task.</blockquote>

Carl Joshua Ncube's Wife Discharged

Award winning comedian Carl Joshua Ncube’s wife Nelsy was admitted to Health Bridge, a private hospital in the resort town of Victoria Falls yesterday suffering from a suspected chest infection.
Nelsy performed on Sunday at the just ended Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) during the Girls Killing it comedy night together with poet Wadzanai “Black Pearl’ Chiuriri, Chipo Chikara and Munyaradzi Guramatunhu. In a series of tweets Carl said his wife’s throat has been sore ever since we came back from China but it got worse after her performance. Said Carl:
<blockquote>My wife and I have been having sore throats ever since we came back from China. So after she performed at HIFA, hers became worse and as a precaution we went to the hospital. She is being monitored by the doctors and nurses there.</blockquote>

Local comedian Carl Joshua Ncube will be featured on Cable News Network (CNN)’s African Voices. CNN has been shadowing him since Monday documenting how he produces the Hifa Comedy Festival. However, at the moment he does not know when it will be aired. Speaking to the Chronicle, Ncube said,
<blockquote>The last time I was interviewed on CNN was in 2012 just after my father had died. This was also at the beginning of my career. That interview actually changed my career for the better and people started taking me seriously.
This interview is a follow up to show how far I’ve gone with my career…So CNN has been following me around as I organise the HIFA comedy fest and it feels like reality television. They get to see the behind the scenes of what it takes for me to come up with the HIFA Comedy Fest.</blockquote>

<li>Carl left for the United Kingdom in December 1997 and worked as a waiter/kitchen assistant.</li>
<li>He is a qualified Gynecology nurse, a qualification he obtained from the London South Bank University (1998 to 2001) and has helped deliver a total of 17 babies.</li>
<li>In 2010 Ncube would stage a one-man demonstration against piracy by staying 7 days in the streets.</li>

Zimbabwe Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube Selected as a TED Fellow

Things are getting super tough in Zimbabwe and so I am dedicating my time to giving people some relatively useful tips on how to survive Zimbabwe. Please note that my solutions do not suit everyone, just those that are willing to take the time out to think outside the box.
1.Pray 
I am a born again Christian so my connection to God is very important to surviving such a harsh and hostile environment like Zimbabwe. Spirituality give you clarity, answers, perspective. Spirituality has a way of taking you away from your problems and seeing things the way your God see’s them.
2. Grow your own food 
Most Zimbabweans have enough space to grow their own food and I mean 2m X 2m will make a huge difference. Growing your own food is going to save you but it also will teach you a lot of lessons about determination and survival. If you do not have the space then find someone who does, ask, the worst they can say is “NO”. Community Farming is a great idea, join forces with friends to grow things you need and trade with each other or share.
3. Find Alternative Revenue Streams 
Remember if you are like me you are Zimbabwean and probably unemployed. Find other ways to make money. Start by learning how to sell today. Start small, you won’t regret it later. Three or four revenue streams at a time is a good idea. Sell airtime anything to get you to understand REVENUE and COSTS as soon as possible. 
4. Work from home 
Do not rush to starting a company and getting offices. Start working from home. Only work with clients that understand and have no problems with this. The time to worry about how you look is not now. You need to reduce your overheads completely. Benefits of working from home is that the business will pay for your living expenses at the end of the day. 
5. Use technology 
Make sure you are using technology to do majority of your tasks. Like whatsapp, facebook, twitter are all very powerful tools. Use those to grow your business or brand and remember technology connects you to the world and technology can teach you much more. 
6. Mind your own business 
Majority of our costs come from wanting to get involved in other people’s lives too much. Focus on your small unit and don’t get involved in drama. Drama costs so much money so stay clear and save yourself a lot of money. Do not get into doing things for appearance sake, ask yourself if you really need to go to that family meeting or if you really need to be having an argument with people in whatsapp groups or facebook. 
7. Community 
The more stuff you do in your own neighbourhood the more money you save and the more you enrich each other. Host farmers markets at your home. Social gatherings in walking distance, buy from your local shop, car pool, food banks, church in walking distance all these community things will save you money in the long run, even drink within walking distance. 
8. Recycle 
Recycle as much as you can, repurpose, reuse. Every little counts. The more you do that with water, electricity, waste management you make your life a little better. 
9. Get off the grid 
Invest every little you have to getting off the grid. Use less council water by investing in borehole (eventually) or inverters, solar panels, solar lights, energy saving bulbs, solar geysers. Try and find alternatives to the grid, wean yourself over time. Make it a plan that starts today you will get there eventually. 
10. Change your social life 
I can’t emphasise this enough. My wife and I used to think we needed to go out a lot then we started hosting our friends at our home instead. People would come and bring food and drink and we would hangout more at home. Movie nights, game nights etc with people in your neighbourhood will save you a lot. For example a bottle of WHISKY at home is $19 in a bar is $3/tot.
