CCC leader Nelson Chamisa has scoffed at claims by ZANU PF that he was behind allegations by Australia-based Zimbabwean Susani Mutami who claimed to have been raped as a minor by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Addressing the party’s supporters in Masvingo on Sunday, Chamisa said ZANU PF officials should keep him out of their shenanigans. He said:
Mvura ikasanaya ndiChamisa, uya musikana weku Australia (Susan Mutami) hameno zvaaitaura achiti ndakanzwai nanhingi, ndikanzwa zvonzi ndiChamisa, ini ndodongorera muchiita zvinhu zvenyu ndaivapo ini? Ndingasaita shohwera? (If it doesn’t rain they blame Chamisa; now this lady in Australia says she was abused by so and so … and they blame Chamisa).
Chamisa also responded to criticism over the party’s failure to stage mass protests to push for the release of jailed legislators Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole together with 13 other party activists.
Sikhala, Sithole and the other activists were arrested in June on allegations of inciting violence and participating in acts of violence in Nyatsime following the murder of Moreblessing Ali. Said Chamisa:

We are bringing a different type of politics to this country.
Some people have been saying Chamisa tell people to go into the streets for violence because they listen to you.
You are the leader, and they will do anything you tell them.
I said no, God has no confusion, he will be telling me what to do. Please do not force me to do what I have not been told to do yet.
I will do it when the time is right, I will lead.
We are not a violent party. Isu tinofamba naJesu; we do not do violent politics.
We only do peace politics, developmental politics, and transformation politics.

Sikhala and Sithole together with the other CCC activists have been denied bail by the courts repeatedly.

Chamisa Scoffs At Alleged Susan Mutami Links

Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Change Champion in Chief Nelson Chamisa says his party will not return farms to white former farmers but instead give title deeds to resettled black farmers.
Zimbabwe is scheduled to hold presidential, parliamentary and local government elections in 2023.
In 2000, the Zimbabwean government, then led by the late Robert Mugabe, embarked on a violent land reform programme and seized farms from about 4 000 white farmers.
However, top ZANU PF and government officials, as well as senior security services officials, allegedly took the lion’s share of the spoils, with some of them getting several farms each, while millions of ordinary citizens remain landless.
Addressing a rally at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo on Sunday, Chamisa reiterated his previous assertions that the land programme is irreversible. He said:

We are going to give people title deeds to land. We will not return the land to the white owners as is always being propagated.
I heard them say that if the boy gets into power, he is going to take back the land to the whites. No!
That is never going to happen, we are going to give title deeds to our people.
</blockquote>
Chamisa also promised to bring an end to the forced displacements of villagers from their land by the government to make way for businesses. He said:
<blockquote>
Our new government will not take land from anyone, but instead, it will offer title deeds. We will revive business confidence and investor confidence because the economy is about building confidence in title deeds and ownership.
</blockquote>

Chamisa Says Land Reform Is Irreversible, Promises Title Deeds To New Farmers

Former Member of Parliament for Masvingo Central, Jeffreyson Chitando (MDC), has requested Masvingo City Council to furnish him with receipts to prove that ZANU PF had booked its two grounds for its scheduled rallies that never took place.
Chitando wrote to the Masvingo town clerk and the mayor and gave the duo five days to provide proof that ZANU PF had indeed paid for the use of Mucheke and Mamutse stadiums.
This comes after the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was denied use of the stadiums on the basis that ZANU PF had already booked them for its rallies. Wrote Chitando:

I understand that the procedure for applying for a rally is that a political party first seeks clearance from your office if the proposed venue is free for use.
The police in their letter of disproving CCC application was that Masvingo City Council stadiums were booked by ZANU PF.
In this regard as a citizen, resident and ratepayer of Masvingo City Council I am demanding full proof of payment of both stadiums by the mentioned political party.
… Town Clerk, if the above subject is not solved in an amicable manner we will take legal action, until council act positively.
This issue has to be acted by council in less than five working days, meaning on 31 March we will issue a statement to Masvingo residents and ratepayers.

Chitando also said that if the council wasn’t paid for the facilities, the revenue lost should be paid by whoever blocked CCC from booking the venues.
ZANU PF didn’t hold the rallies at Mamutse and Mucheke on Sunday 20 March and the grounds were instead used for hosting football matches.
ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial spokesperson, Ophias Murambiwa said they couldn’t hold the rallies because they had to sort out some issues first.
He said the rallies were going to be held this week after the chairman and provincial leadership had met and deliberated on the issue.

Former MP Demands Explanation From Council Over ZANU PF Fake Rallies

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) staged a campaign rally in Masvingo at Rujeko Open Grounds on Sunday.
The rally was initially blocked by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) but High Court judge, Justice Sunsley Zisengwe on Saturday overruled the prohibition order and granted the opposition party permission to hold the rally.

PICTURES: CCC Rally At Rujeko Open Grounds In Masvingo

The Masvingo High Court on Saturday gave the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) permission to stage its campaign rally in Masvingo at Rujeko Open Grounds on Sunday.
The order was granted on Saturday morning by High Court judge, Justice Sunsley Zisengwe after CCC filed an urgent chamber application after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) had issued a prohibition order against the rally.
Officer Commanding Masvingo Central District, Chief Superintendent Simangaliso Dube, had denied the request by CCC to host the rally on the basis that ZANU PF was hosting two similar rallies in the district.
However, Justice Zisengwe issued an interim order granting permission CCC permission to hold the rally and directed the police not to interfere with the event. The judge said:

Respondents and all those acting through them be and are hereby interdicted from interfering with or cancelling applicants’ by-election campaign launch at Rujeko A open Grounds on the 20th of March 2022 between 1000hrs and 1600hrs.
</blockquote>
CCC Masvingo district chairperson, Martin Mureri, told New Zimbabwe that the party was going ahead with its preparations for the rally. Said Mureri:
<blockquote>
Today the High Court gave us the go-ahead to host our provincial rally so our people are now on the ground mobilising support and publicising the event. Our president, Nelson Chamisa will be in attendance.
</blockquote>
Police have blocked CCC from holding rallies in Gokwe, Marondera and Binga while the ruling ZANU PF party has been staging its events without hindrance.
