A 34-year-old man from Bindura is accused of murdering his wife after allegedly finding her with another man.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the brutal attack, which occurred at a house in Woodbooke, Chiwaridzo.
The suspect, Justice Pondani, is believed to have killed his wife, Grace Chareka, also 34, by banging her head against the wall multiple times. Police said:

In a separate case, Tsoanelo Sibanda (39) has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Bulawayo High Court for the murder of his wife, Letshani Ndlovu (38), who was seven months pregnant at the time of her death.
The court heard that on May 18, 2016, in Ntalale, Guyu, Matabeleland South, the couple engaged in a heated argument over allegations of infidelity.
In a fit of rage, Sibanda pursued Letshani and struck her twice with a stone—once on the head and once on the left ear—rendering her unconscious and bleeding.
Letshani tragically succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.

Bindura Man Kills "Cheating" Wife After Finding Her with Another Man

A police officer from Buhera, Cuthbert Mupfuki, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the High Court after brutally murdering his wife, Brenda Manyara, with an Okapi knife. The attack occurred amid rumours that she was seeing another man, reported <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/police-officer-kills-wife-over-infidelity-rumours/">The Manica Post</a>.
Mupfuki, 37, from Nechiwowe Village in Chief Nyashanu, was found guilty of murder under Section 47(1) (a) or (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23. At the time of the crime, he was a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Support Unit, Sierra Troop, in Changadzi.
During sentencing, Mutare High Court Judge Justice Isaac Muzenda said he considered that Mupfuki had paid 30 head of cattle as reparation to the deceased’s family.
The court heard that on October 10 2023, Mupfuki stabbed Manyara multiple times, resulting in her death at the scene. A post-mortem conducted by Dr Elisha Murasiranwa at Birchenough Bridge Hospital determined that respiratory failure due to trauma was the cause of death.
Witness Constance Gwemba, a niece of the victim, testified that she was at Mupfuki’s home with Manyara and other family members when Mupfuki invited Manyara to their bedroom.
Shortly after, Gwemba heard screams for help but found the door locked. Peering through a window, she saw Mupfuki pressing Manyara against the wall while accusing her of wanting to degrade him by dating a local villager, Joseph Murwisi.
Mupfuki later dragged Manyara’s body to the passage and opened the door, walking away while declaring it was better for him to be in prison than with a “cheating” wife. Gwemba discovered Manyara lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from her chest and with a deep cut on her left hand.
At around 9 PM that evening, Mupfuki called villager Chipo Madidi, instructing her to gather everyone at the homestead. When he returned, he stated that he knew why he had killed Manyara.
Another witness, Mupfuki’s daughter Barbra, recounted hearing her mother being beaten and later witnessing her father emerge, claiming he would turn himself in to the police.
Madidi testified that when she arrived at the scene, she found Manyara’s lifeless body in the sitting room. Mupfuki admitted over the phone that he had killed Manyara due to her supposed affair with Joseph Murwisi.
Murwisi himself testified that on the evening of the incident, he was attacked by Mupfuki while cycling home.
Mupfuki struck him with a log, causing him to fall. Despite his injuries, Murwisi managed to escape, leaving his bicycle and groceries behind.
After the attack, Murwisi heard people crying at Mupfuki’s home; he sustained bruises and a swollen arm from the assault.

The family of a Gweru woman who was fatally stabbed in February 2024 by the wife of a man she was dating is seeking compensation of 10 cattle from the husband of the accused.
Stacey Mkandla was alerted by neighbours while attending an all-night church service and returned home around 4 AM to find her husband, Tafadzwa Emmanuel Munyoro, in bed with his now-deceased partner, Brightness Phiri.
Following the incident, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Midlands Province, said that Mkandla had left her home the previous day to attend an all-night prayer service in Senga suburb, leaving Munyoro at home. He said:

She returned earlier than expected in the morning. She stormed into their bedroom and found her husband and the now deceased sleeping.

In a statement issued on Thursday, September 26, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) reported that Mkandhla, upset by the situation, initially attacked the deceased with her fists before taking a kitchen knife.
Mkandhla’s husband intervened, removing the knife and leaving the two women to argue.
However, Mkandhla found another knife and stabbed the deceased once in the head, once in the chest, and once in the back. The victim managed to flee the scene but collapsed and died on the street.
According to Inspector Mahoko, Mkandla later turned herself in at Nehanda Police Station.
Gweru High Court Circuit Judge Justice Naison Chivayo sentenced Mkandla to 10 years in prison on Tuesday.
During the trial, Public Prosecutor Clemence Chimbari argued that Mkandla used a dangerous weapon to attack Phiri, stabbing her multiple times in vital areas, indicating an intention to kill.
Mkandla’s lawyer, Esau Mandipa, requested leniency, citing “extreme provocation” from Phiri, and argued that the altercation escalated when the deceased attempted to retaliate before being disarmed.
In her impact statement, Phiri’s sister, Gracious Mkwananzi, said the family was hurt that they had not received any meaningful compensation from Munyoro. Said Mkwananzi (via <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/woman-jailed-10-years-for-knifing-husband-s-lover-to-death/">ZimLive</a>):

The court heard that on February 19, 2024, Stacy Mkandhla returned from an all-night prayer session to find her husband in their bed with the now-deceased, who was half-naked.
Upset by the situation, she initially attacked the deceased with her fists before grabbing a kitchen knife.
Mkandhla’s husband intervened, taking the knife away and leaving the two women to argue.
However, Mkandhla found another knife and stabbed the deceased once in the head, once in the chest, and once in the back.  The victim managed to flee the scene but collapsed and died on the street.
Following the incident, a police report was filed, leading to Mkandhla’s arrest. She was subsequently tried in the High Court in Gweru on murder charges and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
