Dynamos lost 1-0 to Chicken Inn in a rescheduled Castle Lager Premiership match at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
Gamecocks captain Xolani Ndlovu scored a free-kick in the 71st minute, confining Dynamos to a second consecutive defeat after their 2-1 loss to CAPS United in the Harare Derby last weekend.
As has been a recurring issue, Dynamos are struggling to defend in the last 20 minutes of matches, with goals coming from set pieces.
This pattern plagued them in their previous game, where they squandered a first-half lead against CAPS United, conceding an 86th-minute goal from a free-kick.
Dynamos remain ninth in the league with 38 points, while Chicken Inn moves up to sixth with 42 points.
Dynamos dominated early possession, but Chicken Inn had the first significant chance, with goalkeeper Tafiremutsa blocking a close-range header from Brian Muza.
Chicken Inn made an injury substitution in the 27th minute, replacing Muza, who appeared to have a pulled muscle.
Dynamos struggled to create clear scoring opportunities despite Valentine Kadonzvo’s impressive dribbling.
Chicken Inn nearly scored just before half-time, hitting the woodwork with a header from Elshamar Farasi.
Dynamos suffered another setback early in the second half when Donald Dzvinyai sustained a suspected shoulder injury and was replaced by Tendaishe Magwaza.
Chicken Inn secured the win with Xolani Ndlovu’s goal after a foul on substitute Genious Mutungamiri at the edge of the box.
The game experienced a brief stoppage due to tear gas affecting players from outside the stadium.
After resuming, Mutungamiri forced a good save from Tafiremutsa. In the dying moments of the match, Dynamos nearly equalised, but Elton Chikona’s shot hit the crossbar following a defensive error from Chicken Inn.
Dynamos caretaker coach Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowe conceded that of late, his players have been failing to properly deal with set pieces. He said (via <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/dembare-suffer-back-to-back-defeats/">The Herald</a>):

It’s clear we defended poorly from that free-kick. It’s unfortunate the goals are coming in different forms. The other time it is headed goals and this time it’s a direct goal.
The direct goal took us by surprise because we worked on it. When it’s a free-kick you must put a wall and the wall must block the ball. But if the wall opens up then that’s a basic error.
Unfortunately, we have to go back again and work with the guys to make sure that we don’t continue conceding from set pieces.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was happy with the result though he believes his charges should have scored more goals. He said:

I thought it was a good win. We played a solid game and in the first half, I thought we should have been at least two-nil up. We missed some opportunities but that’s the nature of the game.
The guys who came in the second half did very well. So we are happy with the three points, and we look forward to our next game against TelOne.

Dynamos Suffer Second Straight Defeat After 0-1 Loss To Chicken Inn

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has rejected a request by Chicken Inn FC to increase gate charges for their match against Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.
The Gamecocks, who use Luveve Stadium as their home ground, decided to host Bosso at the larger Barbourfields Stadium, presumably to accommodate the thousands of passionate Highlanders fans expected to attend the match.
Knowing Highlanders’ devoted fan base, Chicken Inn likely believed that hosting the game at the bigger venue would allow them to capitalize on the anticipated high attendance by hiking ticket prices, potentially providing a significant financial windfall.
However, in responding to Chicken Inn’s request, PSL Chief Executive Officer Kenny Ndebele stated that the standard gate charges would apply for the match.
Ndebele did not provide a detailed explanation for the PSL’s decision to reject Chicken Inn’s proposal, though in the past, similar requests from other clubs have been rejected. Wrote Ndebele:

We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 19 August 2024 and advise that your request to increase gate charges has not been approved.
Gate charges for your match against Highlanders FC shall remain as follows; Rest of Ground: US$3, VIP: US$5 and VVIP: US$10.
Meanwhile, football fans are divided over the move by the PSL to reject Chicken Inn’s request to hike gate charges.

Media consultant, Makomborero Mutimukulu, condemned the move and suggested that Ndebele has links to Highlanders. He said:

Maybe some teams are more equal than others. Chicken Inn must be feeling let down. And the fact that Kenny Ndebele has Bosso roots makes it even worse.

Last Fambisayi had this to say:

Facts do not lie, the channel is aware that when Highlanders played CAPS United they applied to increase the gate charges, THAT WAS TURNED DOWN.
When Highlanders played FC Platinum, the Bulawayo giants again applied to increase gate charges, THAT WAS TURNED DOWN.
New boys Chegutu Pirates made an application to increase their gate charges against Highlanders at Baobab Stadium, THAT WAS TURNED DOWN yet the match attracted a paltry 1 069 paying fans.
It is undeniable that Chicken Inn are aware that Highlanders are on a roll and buoyed on by the 12th man, Barbourfields Stadium may be a nightmare for them hence increasing the charges would likely reduce the number of fans.

A judge in South Africa has ordered Benson Rutendo Matinyarare, a supporter of Zimbabwe’s ZANU PF party, to remove defamatory posts against Innscor from his social media accounts. Matinyarare had alleged that Innscor, a food company, had ruined the taste of Zimbabwean food, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200022142/innscor-sues-zanu-pf-apologist">NewsDay</a> reported. The High Court judge, Justice Yvonne Siwendu, gave Matinyarare 30 days to delete the posts after Innscor took legal action, accusing him of malice.
The judge specifically ordered Matinyarare to remove a tweet, a video clip, and an article from his social media accounts and website. Matinyarare’s company, Frontline Strat Marketing Consultancy, was also named as a respondent in the case. The judge said:

The first respondent is directed forthwith to remove from his following social media accounts, a tweet on the first respondent’s X account with a handle ‘@matinyarare’ titled Innscor has destroyed the taste of Zim Food. The respondents, jointly and severally, are directed forthwith to remove from the second respondent’s website the following content: an article entitled Innscor food and feed monopoly have destroyed Zimbabwe beef, pork brand chicken authored by the respondent and published on the website of his business.

Rutendo Matinyarare Ordered To Remove Defamatory Remarks Against Innscor

The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe has ordered Slice Distributors’ Chicken Slice to stop using Chicken Inn’s word “Luv” as part of its trademark, <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/chicken-inn-wins-luv-trademark-row-with-chicken-slice/">ZimLive</a> reported.
Chicken Inn, owned by Innscor Africa Limited, had claimed that Slice Distributors was infringing on its trademark by using the word “luv” in their Slice and Burger trademark. Chicken Inn argued that they had been using the word since their establishment in 1987. They also claimed that the colour scheme used by Chicken Slice resembled their own, leading to consumer confusion.
However, Justice Sylvia-Chirawu Mugomba ruled that Chicken Inn did not have exclusive rights to the word “luv” and that consumers would not be confused by the two products. Mugomba said:

It is clear that the word ‘luv’ appears on the 1st defendant’s ‘burger’ mark and not on the Chicken Slice mark.
Taking into account the law as enunciated above, it is my considered view that apart from the word ‘luv’, the marks used are not similar.
In my view, a notional customer who encounters the products of the plaintiff and the 1st defendant is not likely to be confused by the differences between them.

Supreme Court Orders Chicken Slice To Immediately Stop Using Chicken Inn's "Luv" In Trademark

Dynamos Football Club has advanced to the semifinals of the Chibuku Super Cup after defeating FC Platinum in the Quarterfinals. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout.
FC Platinum missed two penalties, while Dynamos FC successfully converted all five of theirs.
FC Platinum initially took the lead with a goal by Selemani in the 66th minute, but Dynamos equalized through Keith Madera ten minutes later.
Denver Mundikumbuke Mukamba, a fan favourite, was only introduced during injury time.

Dynamos Defeat FC Platinum To Advance To The Semifinals Of The Chibuku Super Cup

A ZANU PF youth member was on Friday afternoon reportedly assaulted for putting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s campaign posters outside a fast food outlet, Chicken lnn in Chegutu.
The youth identified as Ngonidzashe Chakandika allegedly defied instructions from Chicken Inn employees to remove the campaign posters he had earlier pasted on a pole close to the outlet.
An aspiring ZANU PF Member of Parliament (MP) for Chegutu West, Last Farai Chigavazira, confirmed the incident to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/https-www-newzimbabwe-com-zanu-pf-youth-bashed-for-pasting-mnangagwa-poster-at-chicken-lnn-outlet/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>. He said:

It’s true. The name of the youth attacked is Ngonidzashe Chakandika. He was assaulted by Chicken Inn staff for sticking the President’s poster on a ZESA powerline pole that is opposite Chicken Inn.
The Chicken lnn staff claim that they were instructed by the Branch Manager to remove any poster that was close to their premises.
The matter was reported to Chegutu Central Police Station and the police are on top of the issue.

Videos of the incident, in which Chicken lnn workers assaulted Chakandika, have gone viral on social media platforms.
Chicken lnn operates under Simbisa Brands, which is a subsidiary of  Innscor Africa Limited, a conglomerate that has recently been subjected to fierce criticism by the ZANU PF-led government for allegedly sparking currency volatility.

ZANU PF Activist Assaulted For Pasting Mnangagwa Poster At Chicken Inn Outlet

Simbisa Brands managing director Warren Meares has said they do not consider Chicken Slice as a competitor.
This came after Chicken Slice founder and chief executive officer <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Tawanda_Mutyebere">Tawanda Mutyebere</a> on Thursday accused Simbisa Brands-owned Chicken Inn of bullying.
Chicken Inn’s application at the High Court in 2019 seeking an interdict against Chicken Slice using what it termed its trademarks was dismissed by High Court judge Justice Sylvia Chirawu-Mugomba last month.
Mutyebere told NewsDay on Thursday that Chicken Inn had wasted his company’s resources fighting “unnecessary” legal battles.
Responding to Mutyebere’s remarks that Chicken Inn used “tricks of a bully”, Meares said they do not even consider Chicken Slice a competitor but a “copycat”. He said:

We have got no qualms or animosity with Mr Mutyebere in any way. If anything, concerning Mr Mutyebere — and you are someone on the street, wherever we go, he follows.
We went to Braeside, he followed, we went to Walk Tall West End, he followed, Kadoma he followed, we went to Gweru and he followed, and we were in Bulawayo he followed.
When I see him, I stop and have a chat. I don’t have any qualms with him. If anything, I love the fact that he can become successful, and competition is good.
I see KFC (an American global chicken fast-food store, with outlets in Zimbabwe) more as competition than Chicken Slice.
KFC is an international brand. It is a big name, it is a strong name, which is real competition.
Chicken Slice is our little brother who is copying us.

"We Consider KFC Our Competitor, And Not Chicken Slice"

Chicken Slice founder and chief executive officer Tawanda Mutyebere has accused his competitor Chicken Inn of bullying.
This comes after Chicken Inn filed an application at the High Court in 2019 seeking an interdict against Chicken Slice using what it termed its trademarks.
Chicken Inn sought to have Chicken Slice barred from using red and yellow colours on its products and also to stop using the word “Luv” in their payoff line.
The company argued that Chicken Slice had used “Luv” in its burger and grill logo, saying it had always used “Luv Dat Chicken” since 1987 before Chicken Slice started using “I Luv it” on its burger boxes.
However, High Court judge Justice Sylvia Chirawu-Mugomba last month dismissed the application by Chicken Inn.
Speaking to NewsDay on Thursday, Mutyebere said Chicken Inn did not invent the word “luv”. He said:

There was no case. The idea here is about bullying. Where on earth would one be not allowed to use the word luv?
Love is not a coined word, it’s generic — whether you use the word love or luv.
The word Luv is actually in the Oxford dictionary and, therefore, you cannot say this is my word that I am using.
Where on earth can one say red or yellow is my colour? That’s ridiculous. You cannot register a colour.
In Zimbabwe, if they do not want to use the colour red, it then means everyone using the colour red must stop using the colour right from the national flag of Zimbabwe.
They are just there to try and frustrate us, but we will never be frustrated with such kind of poor attacks.
You cannot feed Zimbabwe by yourself.

Chicken Slice Boss Accuses Chicken Inn Of Bullying

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League club Chicken Inn has confirmed the dispute with DStv premiership side Kaizer Chiefs over Teenage Hadebe’s sale to Turkey’s Yeni Malatyaspor has been resolved.
Chicken Inn secretary-general Tavengwa Hara told <a href="https://farpost.co.za/top-stories/kaizer-chiefs-avoid-transfer-ban-as-zim-side-confirm-teenage-hadebe-dispute-resolved/">FARPost</a> that Kaizer Chiefs has paid the money it owed the Gamecocks after FIFA’s intervention.
According to Hara, the Turkish side, Yeni Malatyaspor, delayed the due process of payment. He said:

I can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs have fulfilled their side of the bargain.
The delays were by the Turkey club. We paid each other through FIFA, so the matter is resolved.
</blockquote>
Kaizer Chiefs paid around US$13 500 for Hadebe’s move to Turkey after Chicken Inn filed a complaint to FIFA.
FIFA had threatened Kaizer Chiefs with sanctions if it failed to fulfill its financial obligation to Chicken Inn. FIFA said:

The respondent (Kaizer Chiefs) shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid.
The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.
The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment [including all applicable interest] is still not made by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods.
The consequences shall only be enforced at the request of the Claimant in accordance with article. 24 paragraph. 7 and 8 and article. 25 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
The final costs of the proceedings in the amount of USD 5,000 [86,300] are to be paid by the Respondent to FIFA.
FIFA will reimburse to the Claimant [Chicken Inn] the advance of costs paid at the start of the present proceedings.

Chiefs, on Monday, issued a statement saying they “have fulfilled all the obligations in the transfer of Hadebe”.
Hadebe has since left the Turkish side and is now based in the United States of America, where he plays for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo.

Chicken Inn Confirms Kaizer Chiefs Payment

Premier Soccer League club Chicken Inn Football Club is set to receive more than US$21 000 from South Africa’s DStv Premiership side Kaizer Chiefs over the 2019 transfer of Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe from Amakhosi to Turkish side, Yeni Malatyaspor.
The two clubs were involved in a protracted dispute over a sell-on clause in Hadebe’s transfer from the Gamecocks to Kaizer Chiefs.
FIFA’s tribunal recently ruled in favour of the 2015 Zimbabwean champions.
This was after the Chicken Inn executive approached the FIFA Players’ Status Committee demanding that Kaizer Chiefs pay the amount it owed the Zimbabwean club after Amakhosi sold Hadebe to Yeni Malatyaspor.
The decision of the Players’ Status Chamber which was passed on 8 November 2022 and signed by the football tribunal chief legal and compliance officer Emilio García Silvero reads:

The claim of the Claimant, Chicken Inn FC, is partially accepted. The Respondent, Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, has to pay to the Claimant, the following amount(s): USD 13,654.11 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest per annum as from 7 July 2021 until the date of effective payment; USD 7,724.64 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest per annum as from 16 January 2022 until the date of effective payment…. Full payment (including all applicable interest) shall be made to the bank account indicated in the enclosed Bank Account Registration Form.

The ruling also ordered Kaizer Chiefs to pay the money within 45 days or:

Innscor Africa Limited has failed in its bid to interdict its competitor, Slice Distributors (Pvt) Ltd, also trading as Chicken Slice, for alleged trademark infringement in the High Court.
Chicken Inn filed an application at the High Court in 2019 seeking an interdict against Chicken Slice for using its trademark, “Luv” and its colours.
Chicken Inn argued that Chicken Slice had used “Luv” in its burger and grill logo.
The company also argued it has always used “Luv Dat Chicken” since 1987 before Chicken Slice started using “I Luv it” too on its burgers boxes.
Chicken Inn further submitted that the resemblance of the trademark and colours confuses consumers of their products.
However, Chicken Slice rejected the accusations arguing that Chicken Inn doesn’t own exclusive rights to the tagline “luv”.
In her ruling, Justice Sylvia Chirawu-Mugomba said besides the word “luv”, the marks used are not similar and are used on the burger rather than the Chicken Slice logo. She said:

In my view, a national customer who encounters the products of the plaintiff and the first defendant is not likely to be confused by the difference between them.

Justice Chirawu-Mugomba noted that the evidence brought before the court by Chicken Inn was not sufficient as the similarities revealed through chats of clients do not represent the views of all customers. She said:

Apart from the contention that the Chicken Inn was established in 1987, reference to a university student thesis and a few social media chats, the plaintiff has not put anything else before the court that proves goodwill and reputation.
This cannot be by any stretch of the imagination taken as proving goodwill and reputation. As already indicated, this is a matter of fact.
The proof, being a pre-requisite for passing off, Chicken Inn has failed to prove that Chicken Slice passed off any of its products as those of the plaintiff.
Accordingly, the claim for passing off by the plaintiff against Chicken Slice fails. It is trite that costs are at the discretion of the court. I can perceive no reason why Chicken Inn should not be awarded costs.

Chicken Inn Loses Trademark Dispute With Chicken Slice

One of Zimbabwe’s largest fast-food restaurant operators, Simbisa Brands, says it has so far spent US$4.5 million of the US$15.5 million the company aims to invest in expanding its operations.
Simbisa Brands, which owns restaurant chains including Pizza Inn, Fish Inn and Chicken Inn, as well as franchises for Nandos and Steers of South Africa, plans to open 45 new outlets in 2023.
The company also plans to open 30 more outlets across Africa and this brings the total capital expenditure to US$23 million.
Speaking in an interview with The Herald, Simbisa Brands chief executive, Warren Meares, said the expansion programme was progressing “quite rapidly” in the country. He said:

Simbisa Brands Spends US$4.5 Million On New Outlets

Bulawayo-based Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Chicken Inn has signed <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Calum_English-Brown">Calum English-Brown</a> from relegated WhaWha.
The 21-year-old striker has signed a two-year deal with the GameCocks, just two years after the conclusion of the 2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
Speaking after the club presented individual awards to excelling players for the past season at a ceremony at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) on Wednesday night Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas described English-Brown as exciting and charismatic. He said:

I thought Calum did well at WhaWha. He was a bundle of energy, a bundle of joy to watch and also the boy has got good talent, so we just have to try and nurture that talent and push him all the way to the top. He brings in excitement.
Calum is a type of player who is electric on the ball, can play with both feet, he has got good pace and just his charisma on the game makes him a good player and I believe he will improve with time. I think he will be good for us at Chicken Inn.

Antipas hinted that the club will bring in more players to reinforce the squad ahead of another challenge for the premiership title next season. He said:

If you look at the league this year, FC Platinum ran away with the league. We were 12 points behind them and Dynamos were five points behind us.
We have to try and catch up with the rest, especially FC Platinum, so we have to bring in players to strengthen the side not just for the sack of bringing in the players.
It was a competitive season, it ended up with FC Platinum running away with the league title but the rest of us competed well and I thought we did well coming up number two.
But we need to up our game and I think what affected us was the COVID-19 break where we were out of the game for more or less 18 months.
It takes a toll on the players but I believe now we are back and things can improve especially on the playing field.

Chicken Inn Sign Calum English-Brown

Dynamos finally ended their four-match winless run in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with a 3-0 victory over Chicken Inn on Saturday afternoon at Barbourfields Stadium.
DeMbare had last won in early June when they beat CAPS United in the Harare Derby.
The Glamour Boys secured their emphatic victory through second-half goals from Frank Makarati, Blessing Makunike and Emmanuel Paga.
Alex Orotomal won a penalty in the 46th minute that was slotted home by Makarati.
Makunike followed up with the second in the 56th minute before Paga sealed the victory in the 66th minute.
Dynamos are now in third place on 39 points, while second-placed Chicken Inn fell six points behind leaders FC Platinum who beat ZPC Kariba 1-0.
In other matches played on Saturday, Yadah edged Ngezi Platinum Stars 1-0 while Cranborne Bullets beat Harare City 2-1.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas says his goal-shy players cannot continue to lose games if they want to win the league title this season.
The 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions’ title hopes have been dented by two straight defeats in their last two matches.
In contrast, log leaders FC Platinum, who are chasing a fourth consecutive title, have won all their last six games to open a five-point cushion above the Gamecocks who are second.
Speaking to The Standard, Antipas said he has shelved any thoughts of the title, for now, insisting his focus is on arresting the team’s losing streak. He said:

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya says his charges are regaining self-belief following a commendable draw against Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium last weekend.
The Glamour Boys host Chicken Inn at the National Sports Stadium this Sunday, with the Gamecocks, however, having a better head-to-head record against DeMbare.
The two clubs have met 18 times in the league since 2011, with Chicken Inn winning six times, while Dynamos has won four times. Eight of the encounters have ended in draws.
Speaking to The Sunday Mail on Saturday, Ndiraya said DeMbare will face Chicken Inn with a good feeling after holding FCP in Zvishavane. He said:

It’s unfortunate we have to play two difficult teams in succession. However, we have a good feeling because of the point we got at Mandava.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said that the current Dynamos team cannot be compared to the team he faced during his playing days in the 1980s or the Callisto Pasuwa coached side that won four league titles in a row.
Antipas, who played for Arcadia United back in the 1980s, faced Dynamos several times when the Glamour Boys were almost invincible.
Speaking ahead of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match between Chicken Inn and Dynamos set for Sunday at the National Sports Stadium, Antipas said:

To be frank, the Dynamos that we have seen in these past few years is not the same as the Dynamos of old.
Back in the day, it was always a special occasion to play against Dynamos when they were still Dynamos. You just knew you had to be on top of your game.
Dynamos then were a mean machine because of the quality on their side. They could attract just about all the best talent in the country.
Of late, I think Dynamos have lost the sting that made them such a fearsome side.
Back then, it was difficult to come out with a result against them because they were so dominant and they won many league titles.
Dynamos last showed signs of that kind of dominance with the team that won four league titles in succession under Callisto Pasuwa. Maybe it was because they had played together for longer.

Dynamos Now An Average Club, Says Joey Antipas

A shift manager at a fast-food outlet, Chicken Inn, staged a fake robbery with the help of a security guard and stole US$1 730 from a safe.
The manager, Talent Mushoshoma, is being sought by police while his accomplice Robson Tawanda Chiriseri, 26, appeared before the courts on Wednesday charged with unlawful entry in aggravated circumstances.
The court heard that the duo allegedly hatched a plan to steal from a Chicken Inn outlet in Chisipite, Harare.
Sometime during the night of August 6, Chiriseri, who is employed by Blackshark Security, allegedly left a door open through which Mushoshoma is alleged to have gained access.
Once in the building, according to the National Prosecuting Authority, Mushoshoma unlocked the safe and stole US$1 730 and Z$4 000.
Prosecutors said Mushoshoma and Chiriseri then stage-managed a robbery.
Chiriseri allegedly handed over handcuffs and a pepper spray to Mushoshoma to cuff him to a railing and also pepper-spray his face to make it appear as if he had been robbed.
The two men allegedly shared the money before a police investigation established that the “robbery” had been staged.

Chicken Inn Manager, Guard Fake Robbery, Steal Money

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chicken_Inn_Football_Club">Chicken Inn</a> says the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Premier_Soccer_League">Premier Soccer League (PSL)</a> should not listen to the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Thomas_Sweswe">Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ)</a>, a players’ union, as far as contract negotiations with players are concerned.
The Gamecocks’ secretary Tawengwa Hara speaks in the wake of a letter by FUZ secretary-general Thomas Sweswe to PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele pronouncing that FUZ does not believe in a contract rollover and clubs should negotiate contract extensions with players whose contracts expired last year.
Hara said threats of legal action if clubs do not abide by the players’ welfare organisation were a coverup meant to pressurise clubs into abiding by the FUZ’s unreasonable contract demands. Said Hara:
<blockquote>This is tantamount to players dictating what they want from clubs. We don’t mind about the expiry of contracts, but why is FUZ avoiding the issue of compensation? The laws of the land have never been against compensation. PSL has no obligation to abide by what the pressure group is saying. If the pressure group is talking of laws of the land let them go to court and  get an order to force clubs to accept the expiry of 2020 contracts and the issuance of  clearence letters. PSL are only directed by a legal directive from Zifa. So the circulation of such a letter to clubs  is only to create debate, not for clubs to follow.
Clubs have left FUZ dictating a lot of things to them yet they are not near both the Zifa and PSL stautes/constitutions. In terms of which section does PSL take instructions from FUZ.</blockquote>
The local league failed to start last year following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and clubs feel they will just roll over the contracts that expired last season.

PSL Urged Not To Listen To Players' Union On Contract Issues

Chicken Inn Football Club has commenced discussions for contract extensions with a couple of their key players whose contracts run out at the end of December.
This comes after the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has failed to come up with a position on the status of player contracts since all football activities were suspended in March due to the coronavirus.
The Gamecocks’ secretary Tavengwa Hara on Monday revealed that the club was talking to the players with a view to extending their contracts. He said:
<blockquote>We have a few key players with contracts coming to an end. We are engaging the players.
We are not going to disclose the names of the players because there are too many vultures.</blockquote>
Chicken Inn managed to tie down goalkeeper Samuel Mafukidze after his contract also expired in June.
Meanwhile, cross-town Premier Soccer League rivals Highlanders lost midfielder Brian Banda to FC Platinum this month after his contract expired in June.
Reports claim that Highlanders striker Tinashe Makanda (whose contract also expired in June) has entered into a deal with Dynamos, which he denies.
Bosso had continued to pay the two players’ salaries awaiting a directive from authorities on the status of expired and expiring contracts as per FIFA’s guidelines following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Zimbabweans have launched a campaign on Twitter branded #BoycottChickenIn #ChickenInnMustFall after a video that was played by <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/09/10/watch-zbcs-video-that-disputes-the-abduction-of-the-mdc-alliance-trio-on-13-may/">ZBC that says a Chicken Inn manager told the investigators that he/she saw the 3 MDC Alliance who were abducted</a> on the day in question during the time they were already reported missing.
Twimbos said Chicken Inn has a case to answer after it emerged their CCTV footage and name were used in the documentary that aired on ZBC TV. Here is what Zimbabweans on Twitter said about Chicken Inn:

The Dutchman, the former Highlanders coach is reportedly planning to leave for FC Platinum with 4 Highlanders top players, the Chronicle reports.

One of the 11 vendors arrested and assaulted by police last week, Hilton Tafadzwa Tamangani, has died in police custody.
The court was yet to rule on his bail application after the matter was this <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/10/17/bail-application-postponed-again-for-11-men-who-attacked-a-police-officer/">week postponed for a second time.</a>
The deceased was arrested with 10 others for <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/10/15/11-police-attackers-further-remanded-in-custody/">allegedly assaulting a police officer at the Chicken Inn</a> at Kwame Mall located at Kwame Nkrumah and Julius Nyerere.
It is further alleged that the accused fled towards Robinson House upon the arrival of police reinforcements. They were later found at Robinson House, the same building where <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/10/14/full-thread-police-helmets-saga-takes-new-twist/">police and Harare City Council police helmets were later found. </a>
The lawyers representing the accused said that they were innocent people who were just found in the wrong place and time.

One Of 11 Vendors Arrested & Assaulted By ZRP Dies In Police Custody

Eleven men who are accused of assaulting a police officer, Ttatenda Sibiya in Harare on the 12th of October have been remanded in custody pending bail hearing this Wednesday.
The accused initially appeared before the courts on Monday and were remanded in custody to today when they again appeared before Harare Magistrate who rolled over their matter to tomorrow for a bail hearing.
It is the State’s case that the accused assaulted the police officer at the Chicken Inn outlet at corner Kwame Nkrumah and Julius Nyerere declaring that some areas near the Morgan Tsvangirai House were a no go area.
It is further alleged that the accused fleed to Robinson House where police helmets and council security helmets were later discovered.

11 Police Attackers Further Remanded In Custody

Simbisa Brands has marginally slashed prices of some of its products across a number of fast-food outlets it operates, namely Chicken Inn, Pizza Inn, Haefelis, Creamy Inn and Steers.
The move has probably been a result of a fall for the US dollar on the Alternative Market.
Chicken Inn has slashed the price of 1 Piecer from $15.75 to $14.00 while the price of 2 Piecer has fallen from $25.00 to $20.00.

PICTURES: Simbisa Brands Slashes Prices

Three Simbisa brands cashiers were found guilty of defrauding the company of varying amounts in foreign currency and ordered by a magistrate to perform hours of community service.
The three cashiers were all employed at various Simbisa Brands outlets in the city of Bulawayo.
Simbisa Brands run fast food outlets throughout the country such as Chicken Inn, Baker’s Inn, Pizza Inn and Nandos.
The three defrauded the company of thousands of dollars through a well-planned scheme whereby they would pocket foreign currency from sales and replace it with RTGS dollars.
It was revealed in court that the employees would collect the amount after their shift and change it on the streets at a higher value and pay the company while keeping the balance.
The scam was only discovered when the supervisors noticed irregularities in the accounting system.
One of the cashiers, Sandra Masangudza stole US$1 203,85. She worked at Chicken Inn opposite Tredgold Building.
She appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Miss Nomasiko Ndlovu last week who ordered her to restitute the company the money and perform community service.

Simbisa Brands, who operate the likes of Chicken Inn, Pizza Inn, Creamy Inn, Baker’s Inn among others have dismissed claims that it has cut operating hours due to load shedding. In a statement, the company said:

Chicken Inn Dismisses "Fake News" Report

FC Platinum extended their lead at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after beating second-placed Chicken Inn 1-0 in a match played at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo on Saturday.
The solitary strike was scored in rather controversial circumstances by Perfect Chikwende after first assistant referee Michael Ncube ruled that the ball had crossed the line before it was cleared by Gamecocks defender Xolisani Ndlovu.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas blamed the linesman for his team’s loss but expressed optimism that his charges will recover from the setback. He said:

Joey Antipas Blames Linesman For 1-0 Loss To FC Platinum

Chicken Inn has petitioned the High Court to order competitor Chicken Slice to stop infringing on its trademark.
Chicken Slice recently started a campaign with the word “Luv” in it and Chicken Inn says it has been using the phrase ‘Luv Dat Chicken’ since 1987.
Said Chicken Inn in its High Court filing:
<blockquote>“The use of the element ‘luv’ in particular, and the phrase ‘luv it’ in general, by Slice Distributors is identical with, and so nearly resembles Chicken Inn’s registered trademark as afore-presented, as likely to deceive or cause confusion amongst customers in the market,”</blockquote>
