In a Facebook post, Children of War Veterans leader Munyaradzi Shoko threatened Jah Prayzah over some of his songs and accused him of meddling in Zanu-PF factional politics. The group is believed to be aligned to Zanu-PF’s G40 Faction.
Wrote Shoko:
<blockquote>Jah Prayzah allow me to warn you to desist from interfering with Zanu PF party factional politics before it’s too late. It is not a secret today that you are reportedly being used to compose songs that fuel political divisions in this country. I am advised that you are working with (Chris) Mutsvangwa and Phillip Chabata who are promoting you to release songs that seek to provoke and insult Zanu PF leadership.
You are reportedly targeting certain groups of individuals in the party after you released the popular Mudhara Achauya song dedicating it to your factionalist (Mnangagwa), something you publicly denied. Today we hear you are about to release a song entitled Kutonga Kwaro.  Another album intended at fanning factionalism.
Be warned my brother, party yawasarudza kutamba navo iyi Isinjonjo. Tamba wakachenjera. Don’t be used by rich individuals to be their voices. Do not be blinded by the fact that you are allowed to wear Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) uniforms at your shows, neither should you be over excited by the drama raunoita uchizvipa security seya President iya around you wotofunga kuti wakatsika chinhu….You are digging your own grave. G40 aligned group threatens Jah Prayzah over songs

Commander Defence Forces (CDF) General Constantino Chiwenga has been accused of handpicking expelled Zanu-PF member Christopher Mutsvangwa to lead the war veterans association while claiming that he had been chosen by President Robert Mugabe. The accusation was made by First Lady Grace Mugabe at the Youth Interface Rally in Bindura on Saturday. Said Grace Mugabe,
<blockquote>I want to tell you the truth about Mutsvangwa. He was not elected. We are constantly being intimidated and threatened by Mutsvangwa that Mnangagwa has the support of the army.
Mutsvangwa akanotorwa uko naChiwenga akanzi president ndovarikuda iwewe (Mutsvangwa was brought by Chiwenga and told that the president wants you to lead the war veterans).
President havana kumbobvira vadaro (the president never said that). President is a very democratic person.
So, Mutsvangwa deserved to go. He deserved to leave this party. Nekuti iny’any’a (he is troublesome). Haana kukwana (He is not normal). Pasi naye (down with him)</blockquote>
When asked for comment Mutsvangwa said:
<blockquote>I am a revolutionary. I don’t comment on hyperactive nonentities. The man who mattered most, the president, dispensed with frivolities and made quite a refreshing speech today (yesterday) in Bindura when he talked about real challenges that we face in building the modern statecraft.</blockquote>

Gen Chiwenga lied that Mutsvangwa was chosen by Mugabe to lead war veterans when it was his choice says the first lady

Speaking at the Joshua Nkomo Youth Symposium in Bulawayo yesterday, Youth Minister Patrick Zhuwao said that children of war veterans are not entitled to anything just because of their parents’ sacrifices.
Said Zhuwao:
<blockquote>One of the things that I am very proud of for my sisters and brothers, the children of ubaba uNkomo is that you have not taken a view of entitlement, you have chosen to serve. And the appeal that I make to a lot of young people who are children of war veterans, please lose this sense of entitlement of saying my father, my mother was a war veteran. Yes we thank your mother and your father for their sacrifices. But it does not make you a war veteran. You need to be able to create your own space. And definitely more, we are not in Zimbabwe creating a class of royalty in war veterans’ children. No. That is not on. I know there is a certain group that says that we are children of war veterans.</blockquote>

Zimbabwe owes nothing to war veterans' children says Zhuwao

War veterans have come out in support of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and accused President Mugabe of rewriting history after he claimed that the there was bad blood between Mnangagwa and the late Vice President Simon Muzenda. Speaking at the National Heroes Acre Mugabe claimed that Muzenda had been chased away from Midlands by Mnangagwa and his team.
However, Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association (ZNLWVA) secretary-general, and avowed supporter of Mnangagwa, Victor Matemadanda, said:
<blockquote>Everyone will remember that the same Mugabe once addressed people saying, he was not happy that Muzenda had decided to go to his home province in his last days. Why would he want to put everything bad on Mnangagwa?
Mr President, ED is a comrade I know better than you. He fought in the war as a trained soldier. He has served you, not me, bravely, consistently and persistently. Why should he be treated worse than the two disasters in your Cabinet.
Attention will never be swayed from the current mess that the economy is in; high levels of corruption and interference in the administration of justice by pronouncing verdicts that should come from courts at political rallies. The people of Masvingo, Midlands and indeed all other provinces of Zimbabwe will never stoop so low as to be divided easily.</blockquote>

War veterans fume at Mugabe's claims that Muzenda was hounded out of Midlands by Mnangagwa

Politician, businessman and avowed supporter of Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Energy Mutodi claims that he was assaulted by the Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association (COZWA) which he alleges to be linked to the G40 Faction. Mutodi who usually writes posts Facebook posts in the third person posted the following:
<blockquote>COZWA SWOOPS ON MUTODI
Members of a terror group called Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association (COZWA) that is sympathetic to the G40 faction in ZANU PF yesterday went on a rampage and beat up ZANU PF member Energy Mutodi after they spotted him having drinks at a local hotel. It all started when the COZWA kingpin Munyaradzi Shoko, Jeppy Jaboon and another unidentified man stormed into the bar section of the hotel and went straight to where Mutodi was sitted with his friends. They then demanded to know why the businessman was against the First Family. Hanxi, “Ko iwewe Mutodi hindaa uchinetsana ne First Family iwewe. Wakandwa mukati but uri kubuda uchiposta hindaa?” Mutodi replied saying he had nothing against anyone. While Mutodi was still speaking to Shoko, the other members of the terror group grabbed him by the collar and began to rain blows at him, attracting the attention of the hotel security. They also started to take a video of the scene. They were however overpowered by the hotel staff that rounded them up and forced them out of the bar. The hotel staff also asked them to delete the videos they had taken that they had intended to show to their superiors. The group is said to be loyal to ZANU PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere. During the rage, Mutodi’s jacket was torn apart. President Mugabe has condemned the group saying they have no right to terrorize people in the name of the party or the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe.</blockquote>
 
Mutodi was recently released on bail after almost two weeks in custody. The war veterans are demanding that President Robert Mugabe should clear the air on Professor Jonathan Moyo and either acknowledge him as someone who is following the President’s lead or discipline him for his continued criticism of Command Agriculture. The war veterans also accused President Mugabe of practising double standards when it comes to Prof. Moyo, saying that he is allowed to get away with issues other members get disciplined for.
Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association secretary-general, Victor Matemadanda, said:
<blockquote>Mugabe chairs Cabinet, which adopted the command agriculture programme, Moyo was part of that decision-making and then comes out to rabidly oppose it. There can only be two things at play here: Either the President is playing everyone for fools and he is sending Moyo, as he claims to his friends: or there is lack of decisive action on Mugabe’s part.
Moyo is telling anybody who cares to listen that he has Mugabe’s blessings in everything he does. We are now beginning to believe him. Otherwise, how else does one get away with such kind of intransigence?
The President does not need a rally to deal with Moyo because he can call him to order anytime. Is it not a case of double standards that when Tshinga Dube (War Veterans minister) urged for open succession discussion and the President to groom or anoint a successor, he was called in just after Cabinet for a reprimand, but not Moyo despite his declarations that Sekeramayi is fit to take over,</blockquote>

Mugabe should stop using double standards and deal with Prof. Moyo : War veterans

War Veterans minister, Tshinga Dube has urged the Finance ministry to take over the payment of fees for war veterans instead of letting him deal with school heads directly. He also revealed that his ministry was dealing with unpaid medical and funeral policy bills for war veterans.
Said Dube:
<blockquote>We have been getting calls nearly every day on the state of school fees from worried war veterans and schools who want their money. There is nothing much we can do except wait for Treasury to disburse the money they promised us, but unfortunately all we get are promises. It has made our work more hectic dealing with school heads and college principals. Some understand us while others just don’t especially those in private schools. It would be less hectic if the ministry of Finance just takes over that bit.</blockquote>

Dube urges Finance ministry to take over payment of fees for War Veterans' children

Government has directed primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions not to turn away war veterans’ children for non-payment of fees.
Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Ex-Political Detainees and Restrictees Minister, Retired Colonel <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Tshinga_Dube">Tshinga Dube</a> yesterday said:
<blockquote>We agreed that Treasury had already allocated funds to meet Government’s constitutional obligation of paying fees for war veterans’ children. Pending the release of the funds by Treasury, heads of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions and Vice Chancellors of our universities are strongly requested not to turn away students whose fees have not yet been paid as it will be against Government directive.</blockquote>
He revealed that he had met Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Dr <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Lazarus_Dokora">Lazarus Dokora</a>, acting Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Makhosini_Hlongwane">Makhosini Hlongwane</a> and acting Minister of Finance and Economic Development Dr <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Sydney_Sekeramayi">Sydney Sekeramayi</a> over the issue.

Govt orders schools not to send war veterans' children home for not paying fees

War Veterans Minister Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube says government is failing to pay school fees for the dependents of war veterans.
Speaking at a media briefing held in Harare today Dube said his ministry has appealed to the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, and Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development not to expel the children of war veterans while a lasting solution to the problem is being worked out.

Govt fails to pay school fees for war veterans' children

Dickson Chingaira, popularly known as <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Chinx_Chingaira">Cde Chinx</a>, who has been unwell for the past three years, has received money and food hampers from <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_African_National_Union_-_Patriotic_Front">Zanu PF</a> organisations, ZILWACO, Children of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association and Queen of Grace.
The two groups say they were moved by Cde Chinx’s plight, hence the donations with Queen of Grace patron, Jimayi Muduvuri  pledging to continue supporting Cde Chinx. Cde Chinx thanked the benefactors for remembering him in his time of need.
