Chinese national Liu Haikeng, arrested for shooting a Zimbabwean national in Gweru, has been remanded in custody until February 7, 2025.
Liu appeared before the Gweru Magistrates Court on Wednesday facing three charges.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on January 21, 2025, Liu allegedly fired three shots at Kholwani Dube with a Canik 9×18 pistol at Bijou Farm.
He is also accused of unlawfully using explosives without a blasting license in 2024 and illegal gold prospecting at Bijou Farm without a permit.
Reports suggest that the violent altercation between Liu and Dube arose from Ming Chang Sino-Africa Mining Investments’ failure to pay Dube approximately US$600 in unpaid wages. Said the NPA:

Wang Jun, a Chinese National has been remanded in custody to 7 February 2025 by the Gweru Magistrates’ Court facing 3 charges under the Firearms Act, Explosives Act and Mines and Minerals Act.
On the 21st of January 2025 at Bijou Farm, the accused person allegedly intervened in a scuffle between farm manager Liu Haifeng and the complainant, Kholwani Dube, pressing Dube’s head to the ground and pointing a firearm at him.
In 2024, the accused person is alleged to have used explosives without a blasting licence at Bijou Farm and is also alleged to have excavated and blasted the ground at Bijou Farm without a Permit.

A Chinese man named Liu shot a Zimbabwean man named Kholwani Dube in Lower Gweru. Liu has been charged with shooting Dube, using explosives without permission, and illegally mining for gold. Liu will be in jail until February 7, 2025. The shooting happened on January 21, 2025, at Bijou Farm. Dube was angry because he wasn't paid about $600 by a Chinese mining company.

Chinese National In Lower Gweru Viral Video Faces Three Charges

A Chinese man believed to be the mastermind behind the illegal cremation of a woman in Harare has been deported.
According to <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/zimbabwe-deports-chinese-mafia-boss-linked-to-illegal-cremation/">ZimLive</a>, Chen Mo Yun, 44, was flown out of Harare last Wednesday at the request of Chinese investigators.
In May, five Chinese nationals—Chen Ying, 44, Xia Wexing, 40, Guo Weilin, 32, Yan Qi, 36, and Wang Huasheng, 35—were fined US$200 each after being convicted for the unlawful cremation of Huang Tian Song without obtaining consent from her relatives. Following their conviction, they were immediately deported to China.
It is alleged that upon their return, the five men were further interrogated by Chinese authorities, during which they implicated Yun as the mastermind behind the operation. They claimed that he was running a mafia-style operation in Harare.
Huang Tian Song had died mysteriously at the Trauma Centre in Borrowdale, Harare, on May 22. The court revealed that the five men had conspired to obtain a burial order by falsely claiming they had permission from her family. However, it remains unclear what they were attempting to conceal by cremating Song’s body.

A Chinese man named Chen Mo Yun was deported from Zimbabwe for being involved in the illegal cremation of a woman in Harare. Five other Chinese men were fined and deported earlier for the same crime. They said that Yun was the one who planned everything. The woman died in May and the men lied to get permission to cremate her without her family's consent. It's not clear why they did this. Chinese investigators asked Zimbabwe to send Yun back to them.

Zimbabwe Deports Chinese "Mafia" Figure Involved In Illegal Cremation

Cai Yulong, a Chinese national operating Stone Steel Blue Mine in Zhombe, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of one miner, the injury of another, and assaulting yet another individual.
On Wednesday, September 18, the National Prosecuting Authority reported that Cai was arraigned before the High Court sitting at Gokwe, where he was charged with three offences: murder, attempted murder, and assault. Said the NPA:

On the 26th of May 2024 the deceased and his workmates, employed by Black Hand 10 Mine were on duty, underground constructing a barricade at an area where their mine meets that of the accused.
As they were working, the accused person approached and fired gunshots at them. They fled the scene towards the exit point and the accused person pursued them.
The accused person shot the now deceased in the thigh who died as a result of the gunshot wound.
He also shot one of the deceased’s workmates in the knee and thigh before proceeding to assault the other on the head using his fists.
A Police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.
He was convicted and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment for murder. He was sentenced to a further 5 years imprisonment for attempted murder. 
Both sentences will run concurrently. He was also sentenced to a fine of US$100 for assault, in default, 1 month imprisonment.

In a report in June 2024, the NPA said Cai (58), shot and killed a man from Chief Njelele in Gokwe and injured his colleague after they encroached into his mine in Zhombe.
It said Cai, from Stone Still Mine 10, Marandure Farm, Zhombe appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ court facing one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of assault. The NPA said at the time:

On the 26th of May 2024 Goni Goni (23), Komborerai Shariwa (24), John Muchawaya (34) and Lovemore Mapfanya (20) all of Village Tirivanhu, Chief Njelele, Gokwe were working underground at Blackhand 10 Mine, Zhombe, Kwekwe.
The four encroached into another shaft at Blue Belle Mine, Zhombe which is owned by the accused person.
Allegations are that the accused person who was armed with a pistol approached them and shot Goni Goni once in the left thigh. He died on the spot.
He is also alleged to have shot John Muchawaya thrice: once on the left knee, once on the right ankle and once on the left thigh.
Muchawaya sustained three gunshot wounds and he is currently admitted at Kwekwe General Hospital.
Further allegations are that the accused person hit Lovemore Mapfanya once on the head with a fist.
Mapfanya fled from the scene and filed a Police report leading to the arrest of the accused person.

A Chinese man named Cai Yulong has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for killing a man and injuring others in a mine in Gokwe, Zimbabwe. Cai shot at the miners and chased after them, killing one and injuring others. He was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, and assault. Cai's sentences will run concurrently, meaning they will happen at the same time. The incident happened in May 2024, and Cai was arrested soon after. He was charged, convicted, and sentenced for his crimes.

Chinese Miner Sentenced To 30 Years In Jail For Killing Gokwe Man

A 55-year-old Chinese national, Dai Pengfe (55), appeared before the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court facing charges of operating a drone without a licence.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on August 9, 2024, at Nyika Growth Point in Bikita, police officers observed Pengfe using a drone that was flying between 15 to 20 meters above the roof level.
When approached by the officers, he was asked to provide a permit that would authorise him to operate the drone.
However, he was unable to present any valid documentation, which led to his arrest.
Following the proceedings, the court found him guilty and imposed a penalty of a US$200 fine.
Alternatively, Dai faced a sentence of 30 days in prison if he could not pay the fine.

A man from China named Dai Pengfe was caught flying a drone in Zimbabwe without permission. He was taken to court and fined $200 for breaking the rules. If he doesn't pay the fine, he could go to jail for 30 days. The police saw Pengfe flying the drone too high and asked for a permit, but he didn't have one. Pengfe got in trouble because he did not have the right papers to fly the drone.

Zimbabwean Court Penalises Chinese National For Flying Drone Without Permit

A 51-year-old Chinese national was arraigned before the Gweru Magistrates’ Court on allegations of raping and impregnating a 17-year-old local girl.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the Chinese national and his alleged rape victim worked together at a mine in Gweru. Said the NPA:

The complainant who is 17 years old was employed as a General Worker at the time of the commission of the offence.
It is the State’s case that on the 15th of November 2022, the accused person allegedly raped the complainant on the floor in his office.
He fired the complainant soon after the commission of the offence.
The matter came to light when the complainant fell pregnant and confided in her mother about the offence.
The complainant gave birth to a baby girl the following year. A Police report was made on the 13th of June 2024 leading to the accused person’s arrest.

The accused was remanded in custody to June 28 after briefly appearing before a Gweru magistrate on Monday.

Chinese Boss (51) Accused Of Raping And Firing Zimbabwean Teenager (17)

A 60-year-old Chinese man who was working at a mine in Inyathi under Bubi District, Matabeleland North province, was killed by a group of men believed to be illegal gold panners.
Jianhua Liu reportedly had a heated argument with the illegal gold panners at his workplace at around 9 PM on Sunday last week.
The men reportedly attacked him with an iron bar leaving him with a swollen head and bruises on the neck, chest and hands.
The illegal gold panners allegedly robbed Jianhua of an undisclosed amount of cash.
His condition deteriorated and he was ferried to Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo for medical attention and was admitted to intensive care.
Jianhua’s chest was swollen and he was operated on but passed away the following day.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson in Bulawayo ProvinceInspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and said they were carrying out investigations to arrest the suspects. He said:
