A 27-year-old man from Mbembesi, Matabeleland North Province, has been arrested for rape after allegedly refusing to pay a sex worker US$5 for her services, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200034211/man-in-trouble-for-refusing-to-pay-sex-worker">NewsDay</a>.
The accused, Gracious Lamula, pleaded not guilty to the charges during his appearance before Bulawayo Regional Magistrate Dambudzo Malunga on Thursday.
Lamula allegedly raped a 47-year-old woman after refusing to pay for her services. He was remanded in custody until this Monday.
In his defence, Lamula claimed that he had initially agreed to hire the sex worker for US$5 but was being framed for rape after he delayed in providing an additional payment of US$5. He said:

The complaint and I agreed to have sex together and I was going to pay her US$5. After our encounter, she asked for another US$5 which I promised to give her the next day and now she is accusing me of raping her.

The court heard that on May 8, 2024, the two had been drinking beer together at Fingo Business Centre in Mbembesi.
After sharing a few drinks, they allegedly agreed to go to Lamula’s residence for the night. However, it is claimed that along the way, Lamula raped the woman.

Man (27) Arrested For "Raping" A Sex Worker

Two Harare teenagers allegedly killed a rival suitor during a bloody fight over a commercial sex worker.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident but did not disclose the date and time when it occurred. Police said:

Police in Southlea Park are investigating a case of murder in which two male juveniles, aged 17 and 16, attacked to death the victim, Nelson Chiripanyanga (33) with fists and an unknown sharp object after an argument over a lady of the night.

In an unrelated case, a man from Tsholotsho in Matabeleland North Province was allegedly thrashed with a sjambok and stabbed with an Okapi knife over a woman.
According to <a href="https://bmetro.co.zw/man-thrashed-with-sjambok-stabbed-over-girlfriend/">B-Metro</a>, Vigilant Ncube (21) was attacked by Brighton Moyo (17) and his friend Bestboy Ncube (21) when they saw him standing with his lover Anele Ncube (16) at Chefunye Business Centre.
Brighton and Bestboy confronted a man they identified as Vigilant, accusing him of snatching “their” lover. Angered by this accusation, Vigilant allegedly slapped Brighton in the face.
In retaliation, Brighton and Bestboy reportedly manhandled Vigilant before thrashing him multiple times with a sjambok.
When Vigilant tried to flee, one of the pair allegedly tripped him and then stabbed him in the back with an okapi knife, leaving him lying on the ground.
A villager transported the injured Vigilant to the hospital, and the matter was subsequently reported to the police, leading to the arrest of Brighton and Bestboy.
The two teens recently appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza, facing attempted murder charges.
They were not asked to enter a plea and were remanded in custody until July 29, when their trial is set to commence.

Two teenage boys killed a man in Zimbabwe during a fight over a sex worker. Another man was beaten and stabbed over a girl. The two teens involved in the second incident are facing attempted murder charges. They will go on trial on July 29th. The police are investigating both cases. Teenagers Kill Man In Fight Over Sex Worker

A 30-year-old man from Karoi, Peter Magaso, was jailed recently after he stole cash and cellphones from a commercial sex worker he had hired for the night.
Magaso was arraigned before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court on two counts of unlawful entry.
The court heard that the first incident occurred on 26 May 2024 around midnight, when Magaso hired the services of a commercial sex worker (the first complainant) and went to her home.
After some time, the complainant escorted Magaso from her residence. However, Magaso then returned to the complainant’s home, broke the lock on the door, and gained entry. He proceeded to steal $35 in cash, a Huawei mobile phone, and an Itel phone.
The complainant discovered the break-in and missing items upon returning home. She suspected Magaso was responsible and went to the Chikangwe Rank area, where she found him and apprehended him with the help of passersby, who then escorted him to the police.
That same night, a second complainant, who had been at the Ringo Leisure Night Club, was informed that her room had been broken into.
She returned home to find that $49 in cash, a Huawei phone, and a torch had been stolen. She was able to recover her phone and torch from Magaso as he was being escorted to the police station.
Magaso was convicted and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for the first count, with 4 months suspended, and a further 1 month suspended on the condition of restitution.
For the second count, he was sentenced to an additional 12 months imprisonment, with 4 months suspended and 1 month suspended on the condition of restitution. He will serve a total of 14 months in prison.

Karoi Man Jailed For Stealing Cellphones, Cash From Commercial Sex Workers

A man from Masvingo who was on Monday arraigned before the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court facing two counts of contravening the Firearms Act after he pointed a firearm at a sex worker has been found guilty.
Tafadzwa Magombedze faced two counts, namely; pointing a firearm, and knowingly and without lawful cause discharging a firearm in or upon a public place.
He pleaded guilty before a Masvingo Magistrate and was on Wednesday sentenced to 210 hours of community service.
Magombedze was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment of which 6 months were suspended for 5 years.
A further 6 months was suspended on condition that he perform 210 hours of community service.
Prosecutors proved that on 9 May 2024, Magombedze engaged the services of the complainant, a commercial sex worker. Said the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA):

Masvingo Man Brandishes Pistol After Refusing To Pay Sex Worker

A sex worker who had been hired for a one-night-stand in Bulawayo allegedly ganged up with her male colleague to rob her client of cash and his mobile phone, <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/sex-worker-connives-with-lover-to-rob-client-of-cash-cell-phone/">reported ZimLive</a>.
This came out when the lady of the night, Cynthia Sibanda (32), and her boyfriend, Mthulisi Mkandla (31), both from the Sauerstown suburb recently appeared at the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutors told the court that on 30 December 2023, Sibanda and Mkandla connived to rob Melody Lunga (36) of Khami Prison Complex at knifepoint.
Lunga allegedly hooked up with Sibanda at Manor Hotel during a drinking spree and paid US$20 to secure her sex services for the night.
The pair then boarded a lift, described as a Honda Fit, to Sauerstown, Sibanda’s home.
However, Lunga was unaware that one of the passengers in the vehicle was Mkandla a boyfriend to Sibanda.
When they got to their bus stop, Mkandla disembarked from the vehicle together with Sibanda and Lunga but followed the two from a distance.
It is further alleged that Mkandla then attacked Lunga, strangling him and producing a knife while demanding cash and a cell phone.
Mkandla allegedly “searched the complainant, took his wallet and an Itel A70 cell phone before ordering him to go away”.
Lunga then made a police report leading to the arrest of the duo.
The value of the stolen property was US$110 and was recovered.
Sibanda and and Mkandla were granted US$100 bail each after appearing in court charged for robbery.
They are expected to appear before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube on 06 February 2024 for trial.
Several incidents of sex workers robbing clients have been reported over the past few years.
In October 2022, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200001871/sex-workers-rob-client">five sex workers operating from Harare’s avenues</a> area allegedly accused their client of messing their sheets and forced him to pay US$800 in damages.
The suspects, Aisha Marira, Manford Ngomo, Belinda Zuze, Rutendo Chivhuta and Natasha Moyo appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi charged for robbery.

Sex Worker And Boyfriend Rob Client Of Cash, Cell Phone

A security guard in Mutoko lost his service pistol to a prostitute after failing to pay for her “services”, reported <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200022006/guard-loses-pistol-to-sex-worker">NewsDay</a>.
The security guard, Evidence Mangonono (27), had hired the woman only identified as Choice and had sex with her near a bank where he was guarding.
It is alleged that Choice took the pistol after Mangonono had failed to pay for her services.
Mangonono appeared at the Mutoko Magistrates Courts before magistrate Chiedza Gatsi charged with violating the Firearms Act.
Gatsi initially sentenced Mangonono to a year in prison before suspending the custodial sentence on the condition that he perform 325 hours of community service at Hurungwe Primary School in Murewa.
It was the State’s case that on 07 January 2024, Mangonono drank sex-enhancing herbs with his colleagues and hired the “sex worker”.
He had sexual intercourse with the woman at the back of the bank he was guarding.
Mangonono, however, failed to pay for the service, prompting the woman to take his service pistol as collateral.
The next day his company discovered that his service gun was missing and filed a police report.
Mangonono scrounged for money and later made a follow-up and paid Choice to recover the gun.
The Firearms Act is a law regulating and controlling the possession, sale, repair and manufacture of firearms and ammunition. It aims to ensure public safety and prevent the misuse of firearms.

Security Guard Surrenders Service Pistol To Sex Worker As Collateral

A 31-year-old sex worker and her live-in boyfriend allegedly fatally assaulted a client who had refused to pay US$5 upfront for her services, reported <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/sex-worker-boyfriend-murder-client-over-us5-quickie/">The Manica Post</a>.
The suspects, Fungai Kufakwatenzi of Pfupi Village in Buhera and her boyfriend, Onesimo Tonha Chamutsa (34) of Svutubhureki Village, Bikita, appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Alfred Chinembiri facing murder charges on Tuesday.
The two allegedly killed Wellington Mupfuti who had hired Kufakwatenzi for a quickie (an act of sexual intercourse that is done in a very short amount of time).
Kufakwatenzi and Chamutsa were not asked to plead and were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
They were remanded in custody to December 11 2023.
Prosecuting, Edmore Mahlanganise alleged that on 26 November 2023, Mupfuti was at a nightclub at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point and drinking beer with Kufakwatenzi. Said Mahlanganise:

As they were drinking beer, Mupfuti solicited for intimacy and Kufakwatenzi charged him US$5 for a quickie.
Mupfuti and Kufakwatenzi then left the nightclub, heading to the now deceased’s lodgings.
On their way, Kufakwatenzi demanded cash up front, but Mupfuti refused to give her the money.
He insisted that he would pay after receiving the services. A misunderstanding ensued.
The now deceased got furious and pushed Kufakwatenzi to the wall.
Kufakwatenzi allegedly withdrew a knife from her bra and stabbed Mupfuti once on the right side of the forehead and once on the right shoulder.
During the scuffle, Kufakwatenzi’s boyfriend, Chamutsa, arrived at the scene.
Kufakwatenzi handed over the knife to Chamutsa and he stabbed Mupfuti once on the neck and once on the back.
Mupfuti bled profusely from the neck and his clothes were soaked with blood.
A police officer, Cannan Zaranyika who was coming from the Save Beach Party heard Mupfuti’s cries for help and rushed to the scene where he found Kufakwatenzi and Chamutsa holding Mupfuti.
Kufakwatenzi and Chamutsa tried to ran away, but Zaranyika managed to apprehend them.
Zaranyika rendered Mupfuti first aid and took him to Birchenough Bridge Hospital where he died upon admission.

Sex Worker, Boyfriend Kill Client During Dispute Over A "Quickie'

A 20-year-old Chinhoyi-based sex worker was ordered to perform unpaid work by a local magistrate for bedding a minor, reported <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/thigh-vendor-escapes-jail-term-for-bedding-juvenile/">H-Metro</a>.
Mercy Chisvo of Lions Den’s Chinhoyi appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Lisa Mutendereki, who found her guilty of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old boy.
Mutendereki sentenced Chisvo to six months imprisonment, which was commuted to 210 hours of community service.
Prosecuting, Knight Rwodzi said that on 23 June, the boy attended a musical show at Mukanya’s Bar where he met Mercy soliciting for clients.
The two agreed to have sex and Mercy charged the boy US$5 and they went to her lodging.
The boy had no cash and surrendered his Huawei cellphone to Mercy after he promised to pay her the following day.
On 25 June, the boy went to give Mercy US$5 so that he could collect his cellphone, but she refused to accept it.
The teenager then made a police report resulting in Mercy’s arrest.

Sex Worker (20) Escapes Jail Term For Bedding Boy (15)

A Botswana Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) pastor has been linked with the alleged murder of a suspected Zimbabwean commercial sex worker in December 2022.
She was found dead in her house in Maun on 24 December last year.
According to The Voice, a Botswana newspaper, as cited by <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/pastor-faces-sex-worker-murder-charge/">B-Metro</a>, reported that the married pastor, Marvin Pelonomi Radihephi (38) is based in Francistown.
Radihephi is suspected to have killed 48-year-old Warricious Bhunu after he allegedly solicited sex services from her.
He has since appeared before Maun Magistrate Court where he was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody on condition that he reports every two weeks at Francistown Police Station.
The report says police are waiting for DNA and postmortem results, which will guide the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on how to proceed with the case.
DNA tests from a used condom are also expected to be used to either link or exonerate Radihephi.
Allegations are that Bhunu was hired by Radihephi for services for two days before Christmas Day when he was visiting his home village of Maun.
Bhunu was alleged to have been found dead in her house located along a street commonly known as Harare at Sanyedi ward the next morning.
According to The Voice, Radihephi allegedly emerged from the room and sat in the car on Christmas Eve, which was on a Sabbath.
Nobody paid much attention until around six o’clock when one of Bhunu’s friends came around to check on her.
The woman greeted Radihephi, whose vehicle was parked right in front of Bhunu’s doorstep, and asked him if she was in and he responded in the affirmative.
The Voice said a witness, who stays in the neighbourhood, added that she was one of the people that came rushing to the scene when Bhunu’s friend who found her dead screamed for help.
Bhunu was allegedly lying naked and motionless on the floor and beside her were some used condoms.
The pastor, who was said to have been sitting in the parked car, is said to have sped off.
However, witnesses had reportedly noted down the car registration numbers.
The matter was then reported to the police and the car owner was tracked down
Pastor Radihephi was later arrested while in possession of the same car.
Bhunu’s body was repatriated back home and was buried last month.

BOTSWANA: SDA Pastor Arrested For Killing Zimbabwean Sex Worker On Sabbath Day

A 32-year-old self-confessed sex worker who plied her trade at Hauna Growth Point recently gave birth to triplets, two boys and a girl.
Melody Muponda said she offered her services in Manicaland and in neighbouring Mozambique before she gave birth on 2 January this year.
She gave birth to the triplets at Hauna District Hospital, with the newborn babies weighing between 1.8kg and 1.9kg each.
Narrating her story to <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/showers-of-triple-blessings/">The Manica Post</a> in Honde Valley last week on Friday, Melody she said she has no hope of finding out who the father to her triplets is. She said:
<blockquote>
We would go around with fellow sex workers to Penhalonga or Mozambique. We would get drunk, follow the money and get paid.
We would spend one week in one place and move to the other and even exchange partners, so I have no idea who could be the father of my triplets.
I wish there was a way to find out who he is but I am afraid I will never know.

Melody claimed in recent years she lost four children to unknown diseases.
She said her husband was a member of the Johane Marange Apostolic Church and he forbade her from taking the children to the hospital when they got sick.
Melody revealed that she eventually left her husband and ended up venturing into sex work.
She said she had to do that so that she could take care of her surviving child, her mother, and her six siblings. She said:

I believe these children are God’s smile to me. I believe He is trying to give back to me what He took.
I only became aware that I was pregnant during the fifth month of the pregnancy and never harboured thoughts of an illegal abortion.
In fact, when I discovered that I was pregnant, I was over the moon because losing four children had left me depressed. I believe that is also one of the reasons I turned to sex work.

Melody said that despite being pregnant, she continued with her work to fend for her family.
She said she is ready to start afresh and quit sex work and is appealing to well-wishers to help her with decent accommodation.
The 32-year-old is currently staying with three friends at a house named “PaGirls High” by neighbours since sex workers have lived there for a long time.
Melody is also seeking for capital to enable her to start an income-generating project that will help her look after her children.
Her mother, Alice Mangofa (46) said she wants to assist Melody in taking care of her children but cannot do so due to lack of accommodation. She said:
Just like Melody, I was married at 14 against my will, but my husband died while I was still young.

I moved back into my brother’s house who unfortunately cannot look after me, my six other children, as well as Melody and her four children.
I appeal to well-wishers to assist Melody with decent accommodation for herself and the triplets.
I am grateful that the Lord has gifted me with three grandchildren at once. Despite being poor and not being able to look after them myself, I am overjoyed as a grandmother.
God has restored what He had taken and that alone should be celebrated.

Sex Worker Gives Birth To Triplets... She Lost Four Children Before She Divorced

A sex worker from Zhombe, in Midlands Province, was bitten by a snake while she was being intimate with a “client” in a bush.
The incident occurred at Joel Shopping Centre when the sex worker had taken her client to a nearby bush for a session.
The lady, whose name could not be established, is admitted at Zhombe Mission Hospital where she is said to be in a stable condition.
The local traditional leader, Chief Weight Ndabezinhle Gwesela, confirmed the incident. He said:

It is true there was a woman who was bitten by a snake while having sex with her boyfriend in the bush. I heard the reports and I am told she is now recovering at the hospital.

Chief Gwesela recently said poor harvests over the last farming season have pushed many girls in Zhombe into sex work and early marriages. He said:

What is worrying is these girls will be working for as little as a dollar or even a plate of sadza.
It is happening as people are facing hunger. So, they will be trying to make quick money thereby risking their lives.
The situation is bad in Zhombe and it has pushed many girls into prostitution and early marriages. The situation is forcing girls to turn to immorality.
As you are aware this is a gold-rich area and the illegal gold panners are now taking advantage to lure the young girls with money.

Ward 10 Junior Councillor Sithembinkosi Ncube said child prostitution was widespread in her ward. She said:

Some of the girls were expelled from school for untoward behaviour and they turn to sex work.
Girls from the ward have become wild as they are lured with money by illegal gold miners.

Sex Worker Bitten By Snake While Being Intimate In The Bush

A commercial sex worker was robbed and killed by two clients she had offered sex to in Bikita, Masvingo Province, on Thursday.
Police said that the victim, aged 24, had offered her services to the two men, who after satisfying their appetites, demanded the money they had paid her, assaulted severely her, and took the money.
The woman died the following day as a result of the injuries she suffered during the assault. Police said:

The ZRP is investigating a murder case where a woman (24) was attacked by two unknown male suspects whom she had offered sex at a charge of US$20 at Makaya Village, Bikita, on 17/11/22.
After the act, the suspects allegedly demanded the money they had paid for the services before severely assaulting the victim with sticks and robbing her of US$20.
The victim succumbed to the injuries sustained on 18/11/22.

In another murder case, police in Epworth arrested Innocent Zamura (34) for allegedly killing a 22-year-old man after he saw him walking with his ex-wife. Police said in a statement:

On 17/11/22, ZRP Epworth arrested Innocent Zaruma (34) for a murder case in which he attacked his ex-wife, Talent Simba (23), and Surance Sithole (22) after he had found the two walking together near Mabvazuva Secondary school in Epworth, Harare on 16/11/22.
The suspect stabbed Surance Sithole once in the stomach before dragging his ex-wife to an unknown place, leaving the victim with protruding intestines.
The victim was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two Men Rob And Kill Sex Worker In Bikita

A 46-year-old Chitungwiza man died on 3 November while being intimate with a sex worker, police revealed this week.
Denis Chikabura visited Petronella Musanda’s residence in Zengeza 5 soliciting transactional sex.
It is alleged that while in the act, Chikabura had difficulties in breathing, leading to froth and blood coming from his nose.
Musanda reportedly informed the deceased’s young brother, Tirivangani Chikabura, who then ferried him to the hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival. A police report said:

A report was made at ZRP Zengeza and the scene was attended by the ZRP Zengeza team led by Number 062476H Sgt Vukomba contactable on 0772 492 007. No visible injuries were noted on the deceased’s body.
At the scene there was a blanket, two pillows with some blood stains and these were taken to ZRP Zengeza as exhibits.
The deceased was taken to Chitungwiza Central Hospital mortuary number 976/22 for post-mortem.

Chitungwiza Man Dies During Sex With A Sex Worker

A commercial sex worker is frequently visiting the ZESA Head Office in Harare demanding to meet a senior ZESA employee claiming that she is owed over US$70 for her services.
Elizabeth Mutetwa told H-Metro that the ZESA employee, Shepherd Mandizvidza, has moved out of his rented flat in the Avenues area to an unknown place.
She said she decided to look for him at his workplace after he relocated and blocked her calls. Elizabeth said:

I did not want to expose him at his workplace but his reason for blocking my calls forced me to look for him at his ZESA office.
He hooked me from the streets and we had quality time at his rented flat in the Avenues area before he relocated.
He only paid me US$30 promising to pay the balance of US$70 but is now refusing to entertain me.
I will not stop visiting his workplace until I receive my money.
He threatened to deal with me but I do not mind. Chero akandiuraya hazvina basa ini ndirikuda mari yangu chete (even if he kills me I don’t care. All that I want is my money).

Sex Worker Pesters Senior ZESA Employee

A 14-year-old Marondera boy was allegedly murdered by a commercial sex worker after failing to pay for her services.
H-Metro reported a source as saying the juvenile had met the woman at a bar and took her home as her mother was away. Said the source:

This young man went to a nightclub where he met a lady whom he took home.
He took the lady to his house because his mother was not around, the young man couldn’t pay for the lady’s services, which then angered the lady.
When he then failed to pay, the lady hit the young man on the head and he died and upon realising that, the lady covered him with a blanket.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident. He said:

We are investigating a case involving a 14-year-old juvenile who was found dead after allegedly engaging with a lady of the night while his mother was not around.
We are yet to get the circumstances as to what actually happened.
