A 32-year-old woman, Adelight Ndlovu, from E70 Mine in Shangani, has avoided a custodial sentence after engaging in sexual activities with multiple men in front of her 12-year-old daughter.
Instead, a Bulawayo magistrate fined Ndlovu US$300 and sentenced her to 210 hours of community service at Shangani Police Station, starting on February 28.
As reported by <a href="https://www.zimlive.com/woman-who-romped-with-several-men-in-front-of-daughter-12-spared-jail/">ZimLive</a>, the court heard that on unspecified dates in 2024, Ndlovu engaged in sexual activities with multiple partners in the presence of her daughter.
During her initial appearance on February 25, Ndlovu pleaded guilty, claiming she was unaware that her daughter had witnessed the encounters.
However, during her second appearance on February 26, she denied the charges, asserting that any such incidents may have occurred in 2023, as she claimed her children were residing at a different location in 2024.
After further questioning, Ndlovu, who was not represented during her trial, eventually reaffirmed her guilty plea.
The National Prosecuting Authority requested a custodial sentence, arguing that the offence was serious and constituted a grave breach of parental responsibility.

A 26-year-old man from Matsheumhlophe suburb in Bulawayo was ordered by a court to perform 420 hours of unpaid work after he was found guilty of engaging in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl he claimed was his lover.
Tyson Maseko appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Vivian Ndlovu and pleaded guilty to having sexual intercourse with a young person.
Ndlovu sentenced Maseko to 24 months imprisonment and suspended 12 months for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The magistrate also suspended the remaining 12 months on condition that Maseko performs 420 hours of community service at ZRP Hillside.
In passing the sentence, the magistrate said she had considered that the accused was a first offender who didn’t waste the court’s time when he pleaded guilty to the charge. Ndlovu said:

The accused apologised to the court and he claimed that he was in love with the victim and wanted to marry her.
However, cases like these make children vulnerable and expose them to diseases and teenage pregnancies.

Allegations were that on 18 March and at around 6 PM, Maseko went with the victim to his house in Matsheumhlope suburb where they had sexual intercourse with her consent during the night.
The following day, at around 5 AM, Maseko and the juvenile had sexual intercourse again.
The court heard that Maseko only stopped after the minor girl complained that it was now painful.
When the girl returned home, she was questioned by her parents where she had been and that is when she revealed that she had slept at Maseko’s place.
The matter was reported to the police and the victim was referred to the hospital for medical examination.
A medical report was produced in court as evidence.
According to the  Marriages Act which came into operation in September 2022, the minimum age of marriage is 18 years for both girls and boys.
It is, therefore, a crime to marry off a child and anyone involved in that will be prosecuted. It is a substantial crime if the parents or guardians are involved.

Unpaid Work For Man (26) Who Had Intercourse With Minor Girlfriend (14)

Five learners from Vhembe High School in Beitbridge have been found guilty of cheating in the November 2022 ZIMSEC Ordinary Level examinations.
The learners were slapped with suspended sentences varying from six months to a year.
The learners were identified as Immaculate Mapako (18), Eussein Makaranga (18), Tinotenda Mavusi (16), Paul Moto (16), and Patricia Dube (18).
Prosecutor Olivia Chamutinya said the learners accessed different leaked exam papers through social media.
She said the matter only came out after one of the students alerted the invigilator Lindani Sibanda who in turn informed the school head Petros Sibanda during an exam that she had seen the paper that she was writing.
Beitbridge Magistrate Variro Gabi sentenced Mapako to 12 months, suspended two months for Makaranga and Dube got eight months, while Mavusi and Moyo were sentenced to six months each. All the learners will do community service.
In passing the sentences, the magistrate considered the learners’ ages.

Community Service For Five Beitbridge O' Level Exams Cheats

An Epworth woman was recently sentenced to a wholly suspended 16 months imprisonment by a magistrate after she poured boiling water on her husband’s genitals, accusing him of cheating.
The woman recently appeared before Harare Magistrate Stanford Mambanje, who found her guilty of assault.
Mambanje sentenced the accused to a wholly suspended 16 months imprisonment. Eight months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The other eight months were set aside on condition that she performs 280 hours of community service at Epworth Local Board.
Allegations were that on 3 September 2021, the accused got angry with her husband, Tafadzwa Kachepa (33), while in bed and poured boiling water over his genitals. Kachepa was fast asleep.
The accused allegedly attacked her husband soon after the two had finished making love.
She had accused her husband of infidelity after discovering explicit messages from a suspected girlfriend.

Community Service For Woman Who Poured Boiling Water On Sleeping Hubby's Genitals

A former top cop has been ordered to perform 315 hours of community service by a magistrate after he drove without permission and crashed a Mazda BT50 truck, which was being held as an exhibit in a criminal case.
The car had been impounded while being smuggled into the country through Nyamapanda Border Post in 2020.
The former Commanding CID Vehicle Theft Squad (VTS) at Southerton Police Station in Harare, Chief Superintendent Kirispen Mutsengi, was convicted and sentenced by Harare regional magistrate Learnmore Mapiye.
Mapiye had initially sentenced Mutsengi to 15 months in prison before conditionally setting aside six months.
The remaining nine months were wholly suspended on the condition that Mutsengi performs 315 hours of community service.
The vehicle which Mutsengo wrecked belonged to a South African national, Domian-Lee Kockolt, who was robbed at gunpoint in Durban, South Africa.
The vehicle had been recovered the car at Nyamapanda Border Post on 14 January 2020 by detectives at CID Vehicle Theft Squad, Southerton after it was suspected to have been stolen from a Mozambican national, who was crossing into Zimbabwe.
The vehicle was then taken to CID Vehicle Theft Squad, Southerton where it was secured under exhibit number 11/20 and enquiry report number 04/20.
On 14 February 2020, at around 5:30 AM, Mutsengi who was driving the vehicle was involved in an accident at corner Glenara and Samora Machel Avenue, Harare leaving the vehicle extensively damaged.
The vehicle was recovered by the police at a private garage at the corner of Main and Soutter roads, New Ardbennie, Harare where it was being repaired.

Former Police Chief To Perform 315 Hours Of Community Service

Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) organising secretary Partone Xaba was on Thursday sentenced to 525 hours of community service for promoting public violence.
Xaba will do the community service at Tshabalala Police Station starting on 1 August 2022.
He was initially charged with theft of a gun licence, US$14 500 and a laptop from an alleged farm invader, Floyd Ambrose, but was acquitted of the charges.
Xaba was arrested alongside other MRP activists after they demonstrated at a police station over attempts to evict former commercial farmer Brain Davies to pave way for Ambrose.
Ambrose is son-in-law to ZANU PF’s second secretary and former Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

MRP Organiser Sentenced To Community Service For Public Violence

A woman from Tsholotsho who was recently arrested for killing her newborn baby will not go to prison but perform community service (unpaid work).
Trasia Mathe (35), from Mhlatshwa Line, Tsholotsho, Matabeleland North Province, murdered the infant to conceal her infidelity from her husband, who is based in South Africa.
She appeared before Tsholotsho resident magistrate Victor Mpofu charged with infanticide as defined in Section 48 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
The magistrate initially slapped Mathe with 30 months’ imprisonment of which six months were suspended for 5 years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining 24 months were, however, suspended on condition that she completes 480 hours of community service.
Prosecutor Tarisai Mukokoro told the court that sometime in March 2021, Mathe was impregnated by her boyfriend while her husband was in South Africa.
She allegedly hid the pregnancy to save her marriage and did not seek any medical attention.
The State further alleged that on 1 December 2021, and at around 4 am Mathe experienced labour pains and gave birth to a baby girl.
She then strangled the newly born baby to death and went on to bury her in a shallow grave in her garden.
Police were tipped off of the incident and launched investigations leading to Mathe’s arrest.
Upon her arrest, Mathe led the police to her garden where she had buried the baby.
The remains of the baby were exhumed and taken to Tsholotsho Hospital for a post-mortem.

Activist Patson Dzamara started serving his community service sentence at the Harare MagistratesCourt yesterday. This comes after Dzamara was found guilty of obstruction of justice for allegedly stealing a policeman’s hat and baton stick last year.  He was sentenced to 12 months in prison. 3 months were, however, suspended on condition of good behaviour, and the 9 remaining months were suspended on condition that he performs 315 hours of community service.

Patson Dzamara begins community service for 'stealing' an officer's helmet and baton stick.

After recently being convicted of negligent driving and driving without a licence, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Stunner">Stunner</a> is serving community service at Greendale District Offices in Harare.
The Standard Style on Friday visited the Godo-singer in Greendale, who seems unapologetic for driving without a licence. Speaking to The Standard Stunner said,
<blockquote>I know loads of musicians and celebrities who do not have licences, but are driving yet they want to be judgemental on my case. I am not a person who complains so I am not trying to fight it anymore. I am not saying breaking the law is good, but I can assure you that over 90% of hip-hop artists are doing illegal things somehow because there are no jobs so where are they getting the money?</blockquote>
Being an influential person, especially among the youth, the award-winning singer said he would not mind becoming a brand ambassador to raise consciousness on the importance of safe driving.
<blockquote>After this incident and all, I would not mind going to the ministry [Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development] and becoming the brand ambassador to help raise awareness because I now understand how it is,” he said.</blockquote>
The artists said he had since started taking driving lessons.
