A Hwange magistrate fined a 41-year-old teacher from Chinego Secondary School in Binga for threatening to commit murder and criminal insult.
Tendai Munkuli appeared before Hwange Magistrate Rumbidzai Yolanda Kabasa Kabonzo on Tuesday morning, charged with threats to commit murder and criminal insult.
Munkuli is a teacher residing at Kamativi Compound, under Chief Nekatambe in Hwange, and a neighbour to the complainant, Mavis Siafwiyo.
It is alleged that in the early hours of 10 December, Munkuli proceeded to the complainant’s place of residence intending to collect his wife’s debt of US$4 and a kilogramme of mealie meal.
A misunderstanding arose between the two prompting Munkuli to threaten to kill Siafwiyo.
The court heard that the complainant ran away from the scene, seeking refuge at her neighbour’s home.
The threats and criminal insults continued as Siafwiyo fled the scene to a neighbouring homestead.
Siafwiyo reported the matter at ZRP Kamativi, leading to investigations and Munkuli’s subsequent arrest.
Magistrate Kabonzo fined Munkuli USD$50 which is to be paid by 13 January at a prevailing interbank rate.

Teacher Fined US$50 For Threatening To Kill Neighbour Over US$4 Debt

Susan Mutami, a socialite and Norton MP Temba Mliswa’s former lover has come out guns blazing in defence of a local publication, Zim Morning Post following the arrest of its journalists over a story that had something to do with the estranged lovers.
Zim Morning Post editors, Elias Mambo and Farayi Machamira were arrested on criminal insult charges in an article concerning Mliswa and Mutami, pressed by Mliswa.
Mutami who gave the journalists information used in the story said she was certain of every word she told them and had evidence of the details in the article. Mutami tweeted:
<blockquote>Dear Zimbabweans, I am prepared to testify in court that whatever Zim Morning Post wrote in its article was 100% authentic as it came from me during an interview.
I have got proof of all my claims, some of which CIO and CID are in possession of.
Therefore the charges pressed by baba Owen MUDHA, Mliswa/MATWINS against the journalists are baseless and possibly based on desperation to extort money from Zim Morning Post.</blockquote>
On 1 February, Zim Morning Post published an article titled ‘Three months relationship made in hell: Philanthropist in messy break up with Temba Mliswa’ which frustrated Mliswa.
Mliswa claimed he was not given an opportunity to defend himself as issues raised in the article were harmful to his character and career.
Mutami made several allegations about Mliswa in the article. She said during the course of their romantic affair, Mliswa had confessed to being bisexual, homosexual, and a spirit medium.
Mutami also claimed Mliswa had told her that he was preparing for his way up the ladder to the Presidential seat through clearing one political hurdle who happened to be July Moyo.

Former Zanu-PF Manicaland youth leader <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mubuso_Chinguno" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mubuso Chinguno</a> has appeared before senior Mutare magistrate Tendai Mahwe facing criminal insult charges.
Chinguno allegedly broadcasted an audio message on social media, which impaired the reputation of Cabinet ministers and some party officials.
District public prosecutor Tirivanhu Mutyasira said Chinguno’s message impaired the dignity of officials who include Defence Minister and Zanu PF national chairperson <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Oppah_Muchinguri" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Oppah Muchinguri</a>; Minister of Provincial Affairs for Manicaland <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ellen_Gwaradzimba" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba</a>; Chipinge South legislator Enock Porusingazi; former Zanu-PF Manicaland Political Commissar Simon Mapfumo and Zanu-PF Manicaland Women’s League chairperson Happiness Nyakuedzwa.
Chinguno alleged that the quartet was working together with former Zanu-PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere to influence the outcome of the district coordinating committee (DCC) elections. Said Mutyasira:
<blockquote>Chinguno also alleged that the complainants were planning to replace Mike Madiro with people aligned to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
His actions portrayed the complainants as factionalists thereby seriously impairing their dignity.</blockquote>
