The match between Chegutu Pirates versus Dynamos on Thursday, 25 April, became the second to be abandoned in the current Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season due to crowd trouble at the Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro.
Chegutu Pirates fans hurled objects onto the pitch during stoppage time, protesting a DeMbare goal by Donald Dzvinya arguing the ball did not cross the line.
However, videos suggested that their Chegutu Pirates defender was behind the goal line when he headed the ball in a desperate attempt to clear their lines.
Match commissioner Brighton Mudzamiri confirmed the match was called off because of the refusal by Chegutu Pirates to restart the game after DeMbare had scored the winner in the 97th minute. <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/dembare-pirates-match-abandoned/">Said Mudzamiri</a>:

The match could not go ahead as you all saw that the other team refused to restart after conceding a goal. There was nothing more the referees could do. So it’s abandoned.
</blockquote>
Chegutu Pirates coach Emmanuel Day Gutu claimed that the assistant referee, who advised the referee that the ball had crossed the goalline, was influenced to make his decision by a photographer. He said (<a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/sport/article/200026105/another-psl-match-abandoned">via NewsDay</a>):

It’s a pity the game had to be decided this way. But we gave a good account of ourselves, they had their moments and we had our moments.
About the goal, I am not sure. The assistant referee was better positioned. When we asked the referee, he too was not sure whether the ball had crossed the line.
The ball was in the air, so it was very difficult to see whether it crossed the line [or not]. The referee wasn’t sure and went and consulted the assistant referee, but the assistant referee’s decision was influenced by the photographer. So we are not sure and even myself I am not sure whether it crossed the line.
I am happy with the performance. First half we were jittery, but second half we were a bit more composed. We now know how to play with bigger clubs.
We learnt our lesson against Highlanders, it’s a work in progress, but I am happy with the performance.

The Glamour Boys are likely to win the match in the boardroom as video evidence appears to be in their favour.

Chegutu Pirates Coach Alleges Photographer Influenced Referee In Abandoned Match vs. Dynamos

The match between Dynamos and Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday was abandoned in the first half due to crowd trouble.
DeMbare were leading 2-0 in the high-profile Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match, dubbed the “Battle of Zimbabwe” when Bosso fans stormed the pitch in protest over a call by the referee.
The Bosso fans apparently felt the referee should have awarded a penalty in the 40th minute but he waved play on.
Dynamos were leading through goals by Keith Madera (2′) and Frank Makarati (33′).
Police officers were forced to intervene to clear the pitch but without success, and at one point were forced to retreat as Bosso fans charged at them.
The Match Commissioner had to call off the match after a restart failed.
Before today’s encounter, Highlanders had lost their previous two matches by a 2-0 scoreline to Chicken Inn and FC Platinum respectively.
This was not the first time that a match between Zimbabwe’s biggest clubs ended prematurely due to crowd trouble.
Twice in the last five seasons, matches between DeMbare and Bosso at Barbourfields Stadium, which is currently the home ground of both teams, have been abandoned due to crowd trouble.
On 14 May 2017, Highlanders were awarded the game after the match was abandoned due to crowd trouble.
On 15 May 2022, a league match between the two rivals was also abandoned due to crowd trouble, before Bosso were awarded the match on a 3-0 scoreline.

Dynamos, Highlanders Match Abandoned After Crowd Trouble

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has fined Highlanders and Dynamos over the abandonment of a league match at Barbourfields Stadium (BF) on Sunday 15 May 2022. The match was abandoned due to crowd trouble.
The PSL Disciplinary Committee found both Highlanders and Dynamos guilty of breaching PSL Rules and Regulations.
Highlanders was fined US$5 000 while Dynamos was ordered to pay US$7 500.
Additionally, the PSL awarded the match to Highlanders on a three-nil score line. A statement issued by PSL on 23 June 2022 reads:

The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee has released the judgement in the matter involving Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC following incidents of violence and hooliganism that took place at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday 15 May 2022.
Dynamos FC have been found guilty of breaching PSL Rules and Regulations and fined a sum of US$7 500 (seven thousand five hundred United States dollars) together with the costs of the hearing, all of which shall be paid within fifteen days of receipt of the judgment.
In addition, the match has been awarded to Highlanders FC on a three nil score line.
Highlanders FC were also found guilty and fined US$5 000.00 (five thousand United States dollars).
The fine together with the costs of the hearing shall be paid within fifteen days of receiving the judgment.

PSL Fines Highlanders, Dynamos For BF Crowd Trouble

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has summoned Highlanders to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee following acts of crowd trouble that took place at Mandava Stadium on Saturday 23 April this year.
A PSL match between FC Platinum and Highlanders was abandoned in the 82nd minute due to crowd trouble.
Highlanders fans stormed the pitch and confronted the referee after he had awarded FC Platinum a penalty with the scoreline 1-1.
In a statement on Monday evening, the PSL said that Highlanders is being charged for breaching the PSL rules and regulations. Part of the statement read:

In terms of Order 31 of the PSL Rules and Regulations, it is an act of misconduct on the part of the club where; 
31.1.13 Its supporters misbehave in any manner whatsoever, inside or outside a ground before, during and after a match, no matter on which ground the match is played.
Without derogating from the generality of what constitutes misbehaviour on the part of supporters, the following are specifically declared to be acts of misbehaviour:-
31.1.13.1 Invasion or attempted invasion of the field of play, save for reasons of crowd safety.
31.1.13.2 Causing the abandonment or attempting to cause abandonment of a match
31.1.13.3 Throwing or attempting to throw missiles, bottles, and other objects, whether potentially harmful or dangerous or not, onto the pitch, or at any person. 
31.1.13.8 Maliciously damaging or attempting to damage any property on the ground
The disciplinary proceedings shall take place on Tuesday 10 May 2022 at the PSL offices.

Highlanders To Appear Before PSL Disciplinary Committee

Highlanders supporters disrupted a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium on Saturday resulting in the abandonment of the match.
Bosso fans were incensed when referee Kuzivakwashe Jaravaza awarded FC Platinum a penalty eight minutes before full time when the scores were 1-1.
The Highlanders supporters invaded the pitch with the intention of attacking match officials, Jaravaza and assistant referee Albinos Zigwati who were involved in the decision.
Police officers then fired tear gas in a bid to disperse the irate fans forcing match officials to abandon the match.
Highlanders are likely to be sanctioned by the Premier League (PSL) for failing to control their fans.
The referee awarded the penalty in the 82nd minute after Highlanders defender Peter Muduhwa pulled down Walter Musona just outside the box.
The decision infuriated Bosso fans, while Highlanders players also refused to resume play after the decision.
This is not the first time that Highlanders fans have forced the abandonment of a PSL match against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium.
In May 2017, a match between the two clubs at the same venue was abandoned after Ralph Matema had brought down FC Platinum striker, Charles Sibanda, seemingly in the area, with Petros Mhari converting the spot-kick, reported <a href="https://www.soccer24.co.zw/2017/05/29/30687/">Soccer24</a>.
Police fired teargas to try and control the crowd leading to more violence, with players, the media and fans all not being spared before the game was abandoned.
The incident occurred only weeks after Highlanders’ match against Dynamos was also abandoned following crowd trouble after a Dynamos goal, seemingly scored from an offside position, was granted.
