Davis Laque, a political commentator has said it will not be a surprise if MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora formally joins ZANU PF after the 23 August 2023 general elections.
On Saturday, Mwonzora’s close ally and MDC-T spokesperson, Witness Dube, left the party and joined ZANU PF.
Laque believes Mwonzora’s rise to the MDC-T’s helm following the controversial pre-COVID-19 lockdown ruling by the Supreme Court on the party’s succession dispute was engineered by ZANU PF.
In a Twitter thread, Laque queried why those who joined the Mwonzora camp against then MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa are now joining ZANU PF. <a href="https://twitter.com/Laque_davis/status/1682686018422464513?s=20">He wrote</a>:

1. You just can’t script this. Many of us were ridiculed by some quarters, for correctly &amp; consistently arguing that the Mwonzora-engineered conflict in the MDC-A had nothing to do with constitutionalism but was being remote-controlled straight from the Shake Shake building.
2. We even argued that those judgments about “2014 structures” njani-njani, had nothing to do with ensuring a party adhered to its internal processes. These were all gimmicks, deliberately created to keep the Opposition internally focused while being systematically captured.
3. Were we not made to believe that the MDC needed to resolve its succession through Congresses? Why then have those who pursued this rouse spectacularly failed to co-exist? Why are these “constitutionalists &amp; real founders of MDC” now joining Mr Mnangagwa’s ZanuPF faction?
4. Were we not told that exposing Zanu-PF’s underhand in MDC’s infighting was a convenient weapon of choice by different factions?
How does one explain how these individuals have now started joining Zanu-PF in droves? Truth is, the Mwonzora MDC was Mnangagwa’s judicial construct.
5. And no, the political woes affecting Mukoma now are not because Zanu-PF wants to punish MDC. Punish it why?
Mukoma’s faction has never had a political life of its own. Zanu-PF has now simply disconnected it from its life support because the MDC now serves no political purpose.
6. And no, this is bigger than stomach politics. Most of these people were actual moles who served an intelligence gathering purpose for years, even under Dr Tsvangirai, and are now being used for political optics and propaganda.
The boys and girls remain very much at work.
7. I remember asking Adv Chamisa when the split became a reality:
“…what are the odds of ever closing ranks with these erstwhile colleagues?”
He said: “…my brother, no one was pushed out. They chose to do what they were doing. Sadly, reunification may become re-infection.”
8. I can imagine that some of these characters actually made overtures to be welcomed into the CCC.
I’ve no such evidence, nor have I sought it. It’s just a hunch.
I, however, maintain that some have attempted to re-infect the alternative, now the CCC, without success.
9. And yes, by forming CCC, Opp politics may have been given a shot at renewal &amp; taking a new course altogether, which would’ve potentially been difficult under MDC.
Whereas some moles may exist still inside CCC, one may argue MDC’s infection by Lacoste gave the Opp new life.
10. At this pace, I won’t be surprised if Mukoma (Douglas Mwonzora0 himself formally joins Zanu-PF
He certainly won’t ever recover post-August 23rd
In fact, what we are WITNESSing now with his confidantes joining Zanu-PF may very well be him saying to them, “..tungamira tinosangana ikoko”.

If the end has ever justified the means, then the “illegality” of appointing @nelsonchamisa as VP &amp; heir apparent, (with Mudzuri as some buffer) was a necessary evil.
With all his well-documented misgivings, Nero leads the only significant, authentic &amp; united MDC faction. I bullishly put my head on the chopping board through the prediction attached below

What this then means is that all the chaos that ensued can not be linked to @nelsonchamisa, as per Douglas’s poor chance at a jibe.
As for Dr Khupe…although she will most certainly have the last laugh…she miscalculated gravely. Many moons ago, I questioned the wisdom behind abandoning her own MDC-T faction, choosing to side with the double trouble that is Mwonzora &amp; Komichi. She dug her own grave
But more importantly, before about an hour ago, she was going out of her way rubbishing claims that money was misappropriated, more so by Tsikamutanda. In an embarrassing somersault, she thundered “…they are using the money they stole to rig this election..”What money now
She openly pointed fingers at DM, accusing him of masterminding the heist she claims transpired this evening. But perhaps she was keeping this as her joker card.More so after phoning the wrong @adv_fulcrum. What business does ED’s Tabani have with her &amp; her party Congress?
Here is what’s likely to happen. Mwonzora was poised to win this shambolic poll. DM’s backers will politically resist attempts to have it nullified. Dr Khupe will successfully have this result set aside. DM’s faction will start experiencing the wrath of State systems….
The MDC-T will split. Before this formally happens, the allegations against DM will resurface The results will be successfully nullified &amp; Mwonzora will be arrested &amp; suspended, both for “the rigging” &amp; the alleged stolen funds. Khupe will eventually win at some 2021 EOC
I paused a bit and refreshed my twitter feed. Apparently,Dr Khupe has already “suspended Mwonzora”…&amp; she has the backing of Baba Abrahama. Sekuru Mudzuri left HICC much earlier
So it’s now Zanu-Khupe-Komichi-Mudzuri vs Mwonzora. The latter’s backers should be very worried.
Again, Sr Khupe has promised to pursue the issue concerning the stolen money. She will do this with a straight face regardless of how she exonerated Mwonzora earlier today. It doesn’t matter whether she has any case or not It’s politics &amp; her victory matters to the State.
It is also quite ironic, that the same @ShakespeareMuk1 who DM &amp; Khupe accused of attempting to burn them in a hut, at the instigation of @nelsonchamisa (never mind that no report was made), was again at the center of MDC-T skirmishes today. Indeed a festive of absurdities.
Has @nelsonchamisa been vindicated? Whose violent mobs were calling Dr Khupe “hure”?

OPINION: Given The Recent Junta Project To Decimate The MDC, The Chamisa VP  Appointment By Tsvangirai Was A Neccessary Evil

Political analyst Davis Laque believes that the MDC Alliance was right to postpone the holding of an Extraordinary Congress (EOC) to choose a new leader after founding president Morgan Tsvangirai had died in February 2018.
Laque opines that the harmonised elections were very close and holding a potentially divisive congress risked the party’s cohesion, considering that the then co-vice president Elias Mudzuri and secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora had their own unrestrained ambitions.

<blockquote>I once argued that, whereas the jury post the demise of [Morgan Tsvangirai] MRT was that Nelson chamisa hijacked the party and  assumed power illegally because of his fear of the “EOC” as prescribed by the MDC-T constitution is shallow and simplistic. The extraordinary congress (EOC) was the legal yet DIFFICULT “next step”.
The EOC would have spelled doom for the MDC-T party, let alone the ALLIANCE, whos existence was hinged on a stable MDC-T. With Khupe already having had left, with Senator Elias Mudzuri and Senator Douglas Mwonzora doing their shenanigans, even with the benefit of hindsight, pushing the EOC made political sense.
Politicians are just obsessed with political power. Everyone wants to be President. Even those who know they have nothing new to offer. I’ve followed Mwonzora for instance. Respectfully, I’m still wondering why he thinks he should led the MDC-T. He offers nothing new nor exciting.
It’s not healthy nor “democratic” for a small and struggling party like the MDC-T to have 5 people fiercely angling for the Presidency. What good does it do their function when that very bickering has led to public spats? Why not concentrate on “building the institution” 1st?
Here are some interesting thoughts from the party’s last elected Organising Secretary Mr Adednico Bhebhe: “I have refused to be part of that circus where the top leadership is obsessed with mindlessly recalling party members without concentrating on rebuilding it…
Bhebhe: “All THEY have done since the court ruling is to recall while no programme to develop the organisation has been considered.The recalls are damaging an already fragile party.I have always made it a point that I speak my mind in the standing committee and other platforms”.
Bhebhe: “I have opposed the behaviour that has now permeated to provinces where individuals just come up with names to say so and so must be recalled so that someone is seen as wielding a lot of power hence members are obliged to follow them at congress for fear of being recalled”.
I’m not saying the MDC-T shouldn’t have gone for the EOC, all things being equal. Rather that their egos would have destroyed the MDC-ALLIANCE itself. Recall the election was just 3 months away. Such is the tragedy of our politics. Ambitions over common sense.</blockquote>

FULL THREAD: Postponing MDC Extraordinary Congress In 2018 Was A Masterstroke - Analyst

<blockquote>Away from the obvious economic crisis, the ED era has seen the rearrangement of political identities, and a clear ideological crisis in ZanuPF. The opposition itself has been left suffering from the same, in as much as their own characterization by the regime is concerned.
Three issues have always defined our politics a) LAND ISSUE; b) Pan Africanism (read revolutionary parties solidarity); c) IMPERIALISM and NEO-COLONIALISM it has always been “easy” to tell where either the Opposition or the ruling ZanuPf “belonged” (due to propaganda).
After the chaotic abuse of the War Vets Compensation Act (1993), which led to the Chidyausiku Inquiry and the split of the War Vets Association, Mugabe did two things. Firstly, he passed the ill-thought and “once-off payment of Z$50,000 to each veteran and a Z$2,000 per month pension.
Around the same time, Mugabe wanted to maintain relations with the West (whites) and pretty much ignored the “Land question”. With the rise of the MDC, whose founding manifesto spoke to addressing the same, Mugabe did the second thing. He radicalized his Hunzvi ZWVA faction.
This was Mugabe’s response to the Land Question. It wasn’t a policy, let alone a planned government program. He simply got tired of mollycoddling to the West and succumbed to the demands of his war vets and forced the country into a partisan chaotic land grab exercise.
The program gave RG control over Chiefs and individual beneficiaries. Alliances naturally developed between white victims and the Opposition. The political crisis benefited Zanu-PF. RG became the Black Champion with the Opposition becoming a threat to the Blacks’ Land ownership.
As ZanuPF- West relations soiled further, ZanuPF became the torchbearer of “Pan Africanism”. In Africa, Pan Africanism basically is how often you can scold white people at AU or UN summits. At the same time, the MDC became a “stooge” of white interests by default.
Consequently, the Opposition became a victim of this political labelling. Whenever the Opposition or anyone outside ZanuPf is seen with a European, more so in Europe or America, they are accused of advancing Western interests and a reversal of the gains of independence.
Based on this historic deception, liberation movements have stood by each other and never shied away from defending one another. This solidarity has even resulted in turning regional institutions into tea parties. Heads of States periodically meet and do absolutely nothing.
Fast forward to 2020; a) it is ZanuPF that’s reversing the Land Reform program, with the Opposition defending it; b) it is ZanuPF mollycoddling to Western interests with the Opposition castigating it; c) it is ZanuPF attacking liberation movements for siding with the Opposition.
One then wonders… where to from now? Is ZanuPF now a threat to the same ideals and ethos they “stood” for? Is the Opposition being vindicated? Is the revolution safe under ZanuPF? Is the Land safe under the ZanuPf-led compensation and repossession drive?
This has been a strange year for so many reasons. It is without a doubt that the identity and ideological standing of ZanuPF has been irretrievably lost… after many years of lies and propaganda, ZanuPf has jumped out of its political closest. Will the citizens accept it?</blockquote>

Reversal Of Land Reform Exposes ZANU PF's Lack Of Identity And Ideological Bankruptcy - Analyst

<blockquote>The MDC-T faction circus continues unabated, with the self-proclaimed Constitutionalists now using youths and the media to attack each other. This won’t be an analysis, but a recollection of what key MDC-T officials said, since the infamous Harare Province Congress nominations.
A bit of context: Mwonzora et al broke from the MDC-ALLIANCE, hiding behind the death of constitutionalism in the latter, yet it has always been about power, primarily the Presidency. They went on an overdrive to hold a moot EOC Challenge has now been on filling that post.
Due to factionalism in the faction, the MDC-T couldn’t hold the EOC. They easily could have, by having voting take place in Districts, in line with COVID-19 restrictions. Sadly, three main individuals all want the coveted price, i.e Dr Khupe, Sen Mwonzora and Sen Eng Mudzuri.
Dr Khupe believes she deserves the Presidency because of her seniority. After Deputizing MRT for 10 years, basically “she was next”. From as far as 2016, she has been the most “consistent”, breaking away from the Chamisa core group, and was “vindicated” by the SC judgement.
Mr “Why do you underestimate us my brother”, Sen Mwonzora also feels he’s the best foot forward. According to his credentials, he allegedly wrote the constitution and is the longest-serving opposition politician in Zimbabwe. Sen DM also feels he is sellable, unlike Dr Khupe.
Sen DM equally feels that he has successfully dethroned the otherwise popular Chamisa, thus making him a strategist. One would recall that all previous MDC SGs split and formed other parties, whilst DM “pushed” the President to start a new party. So he wants to be President.
Then there’s Eng Mudzuri. He wants to be President because of “maturity”. He claims MRT left him in charge of the MDC-T in 2018 because of other Leaders, only he can “unite the party”. With age misrepresented as maturity, the decorated war vet wants to be the President.
Sen Mudzuri likened Sen DM to a trigger happy person who pushes his spouse out in the middle of the night because he’s in possession of a divorce order. He made a sly attack on Dr TK, arguing that in modern democracies, one unsuccessful shot at the State Presidency is enough.
There isn’t much to say about Baba Abrahama [Morgen Komichi]. He isn’t doing much to go for the top post. Wise decision. It’s beyond him. Then there’s the Abed Bhebe, who prefers unification, opposed to a senseless factional Congress.. Anyway, back to the post-Harare nominations statements:
Said Komichi: “It was a fake nomination which has no legal standing. I don’t know why people are doing things that are contrary to democratic practice. The national organising department has not even vetted the congress delegates and an electoral commission has not been chosen”.
Arguing that the Harare nominations meeting was attended by just 38 “activists”, Komichi added: “A province cannot conduct its own nomination because it is an interested party. We have stopped that nonsense and anyone who continues with that faces disciplinary action”.
The beneficiary, Sen Mwonzora said: “I feel humbled by Harare Province’s nomination and I am ready for the challenge, although it is up to the party to decide. I will accept whatever decision they make. I have been in leadership for a long time and this will not be new territory.”
Arguing that no one will face disciplinary action as threatened by the Chairman, Sen Komichi, for the Harare Province drama, Mwonzora added: “My goal, if I win the election, is to unite and stabilise the party as well as positioning it as a credible opposition to Zanu PF.”
The party spokesperson Khaliphani Phugeni, who doubles as Dr Khupe’s spin doctor, not to be outdone, added: “The Harare meeting was a gathering of a few MDC-T leaders and their friends bound by political adventurism and mischief. Their purported nomination is, therefore, null and void”.
Interestingly, a full quorum of the MDC-T Harare Province is supposed to have about 568 Leaders. Harare has 24 districts and 53 wards. The meeting chaired by Simon Hove according to votes had little over 200 people, with Komichi saying only 38 legit delegates attended.
In just 4 months, the MDC-T constitutionalists have begun attacking each other and re-diverting from the ” MDC founding values”. We know though, it has never been about all that propaganda. But what can you do really? You can’t wake up someone pretending to be asleep.</blockquote>

FULL THREAD: Thokozani Khupe Party Circus Continues Unabated - Political Analyst

Following an announcement on Wednesday by MDC-T acting secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora’s allies that the party’s Harare provincial structures had endorsed his candidature for the party’s presidency, acting chairperson Morgen Komichi came out guns blazing the following day.
Komichi dismissed Mwonzora’s nomination as a non-event as the move defied the party’s Standing Committee Congress halting resolutions.
Political and legal commentator Davis Laque said it has become apparent that factionalism has taken root in the faction as evidenced by Mwonzora’s “coup”. Said Laque:
<blockquote>The MDC-T circus continued today [Thursday] with a damming communique from the faction’s Chair, Sen Morgen Komichi. He unequivocally labelled the meeting that nominated Sen Douglas Mwonzora illegal, bogus and contemptuous, as it defied the faction’s Standing Committee Congress halting resolutions.
Sen Mwonzora’s Twitter propagandists should explain how their trojan horse amassed an impressive 189 votes in a meeting attended by 38 people according to Sen Komichi? Is ZEC running the MDC-T EOC nominations? Is Tsikamutanda, Sen DM rigging his way to the MDC-T Presidency?
Sen MK’s instructive communique exposed that the MDC-T SC had instructed the Organizing Department to prepare the 2014 structures register. So they still don’t have Congress delegates register after 4 months of travels and meaningless pressers? So who allegedly voted for Sen DM?
I preempted the danger of continuing with nominations for the EOC yet it was halted indefinitely. This will create multiple centres of power. Now, was there a consensus on the EOC deferment pending a variation order from the courts? Clearly, there are factions in the faction!
It can’t be business as usual when a key Province can meet and make nominations without the knowledge of the Acting Pres, Chair, Organizing Sec etc! What will be the consequences for the Mwonzora Harare coup? What’s going on in the MDC-T? Where is the constitutionalism now?
All this “constitutionalism” talk was just for convenience. But then, politics is a buffet where you pick what you want or prefer, and it still remains a normal dinner. But perhaps the only embarrassing thing is that the goats pretended to announce the death of a lion.</blockquote>

Khupe's MDC Faces Turbulent Times After Mwonzora's Harare 'Coup' - Davis Laque

MDC-T Harare Province’s nomination of Mwonzora for party president ahead of the Supreme Court-ordered Extraordinary Congress (EOC) raises a few questions.
Is the issue of gender and tribalism alive in the MDC-T, considering that Khupe, a woman from Bulawayo Province didi not get a single vote?
Davis Laque, a political analyst attempts to make sense of the shifting power dynamics within the fractious opposition party. Below is his commentary:
<blockquote>A few things came to mind after seeing this [MDC-T Harare Province’s nomination of Douglas Mwonzora for President].
Firstly, it’s quite telling that Dr Khupe, a whole Acting President doesn’t get a single vote in a key Province like Harare. What can we read from this? Does it raise the gender and tribalism question again, in MDC politics?
Secondly, seeing that the MDC-T EOC will not be held on the 31st as demanded by Supreme Court Judgement, why carry on with nominations?
What happens if Dr Khupe doesn’t get a single nomination before the EOC? Does this dilute her power and create 2 or 3 centres of power?
Thirdly, in line with the Supreme Court ruling, who is currently in charge of the MDC-T? Without another court ruling, Dr Khupe’s reign ended on the 30th of June! Sen Komichi’s reign ends on the 31st of July! So who’s in charge now? and who will be in charge from August 1st?
Fourthly (although extremely unlikely), what happens if the Supreme Court decides against the extension of these MDC-T 2014 structures terms of office?
Whereas unlikely, should it happen for some strange reason, what happens then? Will the constitutionalists defy such a ruling?
Fifthly [laugh out loud], elect a new President at the EOC and then what? Since everyone else has their current position pending an elective Congress, what happens to Dr Khupe if she is defeated? How will her “allies” accommodate her? What does it mean for her POLAD shenanigans?
Lastly, are we being too quick to count out Dr Khupe? Recall [Thokozani Khupe’s spokesperson Khaliphani] Phugeni said she was approaching the courts to specifically have her tenure extended!
Are Tsikamutanda, Mudzuri and others in favour of that? As more nominations come through, will this faction heal in time?</blockquote>

Khupe's Fractious MDC-T Faction Risks Implosion - Analyst

A political analyst, Davis Laque, says MDC-T secretary-general, Douglas Mwonzora and his colleagues’ hypocrisy and disdain for constitutionalism is now obvious after they accepted funds meant for the MDC Alliance under the Political Parties Finance Act against a court interdiction which ordered the Ministries of Finance, and Legal Affairs not to give the money to the MDC-T.
This comes after the government on Friday gave MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe $7 492 500 million which belongs to the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance. Posting on Twitter, Laque said:
<blockquote>1] Dear Mwonzora et al, you can’t claim to be constitutionalists yet you accepted money owed to another party? There is a court interdiction which ordered Ministries of Finance &amp; Legal Affairs not to give the Political Parties Finance Act (PPFA) funds to the MDC-T. 4] You can’t claim to be the official opposition yet the ruling party, which you should otherwise be a threat to, is more than willing to break the law for you. You can’t be a threat to ZanuPF yet ZBC TV follows you everywhere. There is a clear logic to this MDC-T madness!
5] You can’t claim to be the MDC of 1999 &amp; the one that had 2 million voters, yet ZanuPF continues to attack a grieving man &amp; links his “nonexistent” party to the Ngarivhume planned #ZanuPFMustGo #July31stDemo. By its conduct, ZanuPF continues showing which MDC is the MDC!
6] You can’t claim to be in charge of 100+ MPs yet you’ve recalled 20+ with 50+ approaching the courts in denial of your supposed Leadership. You can’t claim Leadership over MPs who only fear recalls. What does this say about them? What does this say about YOU?
7] You can’t claim to be the authentic Opposition yet all your press conferences have said nothing about ZanuPF nor the general plight of Zimbabweans. You can’t be an Opposition to the locally and internationally recognized Opposition party and its Leader(ship). It’s pathetic!
8] So really, come #July31stDemo, a lot of things must go. This hypocrisy should equally fall. Now, the unsurprising claims that Dr Khupe is trying to engage Chamisa regarding her Mwonzora fights should be looked at strategically. No emotions. Politics demands critical thinking.

'The Unholy Alliance Between ZANU PF & MDC-T Is Now Crystal Clear' - Political Analyst

Acting MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora is reportedly acting on his own in recalling MDC Alliance MPs in order to prepare the ground for taking over the party’s presidency at the Supreme Court-ordered extraordinary congress (EOC).
A political analyst, Davis Laque, says there is palpable discord within the MDC-T camp evidenced by Abednico Bhebhe, the party’s 2014 organisation secretary’s recent remarks in support of the MDC Alliance officials’ attendance of the EOC.
Laque opines that it is highly likely that after the EOC, the MDC-T will split. Below Laque’s full thread of Twitter:

5] MDC-T 2014 structures Organizing Secretary, Abednigo Bhebe is the latest party official to express concern over the recalls… Bhebe says: “It is disturbing when senior leaders become that divisive as to want to bar others from participating in the congress”.
6] Bhebe continues: “The court judgment speaks to two formations — one led by Khupe and the other led by Chamisa and I do not understand how anyone can be said to belong to the MDC-A party”. He cautions that as the one in charge of Congress structures, he won’t “fold his hands”.
7] From statements made by Mudzuri (VC), Bhebe (Organising Sec) &amp; Mukoyi (Youth Chair), it is clear that the recalls even by MDC-T madness standards, are not procedural. Who then is recalling MPs and why? What is the immediate end-game behind the recalls? Who’s in charge?
8] As we ponder over the obvious, we are told Dr Khupe’s aides are being manhandled at [Harvest House]. This faction isn’t united towards constitutionalism as they would have you believe. It’s just a fight for positions by career politicians who can’t fathom life outside politics.

MDC-T Headed For A Split Post-congress - OPINION

<blockquote>1] So the key message from the eNCA interview Douglas Mwonzora’s supporters literally demanded was pro-ZanuPF propaganda? DM attracted more Zanu acceptance with his “rational disputation”. He then attempted to erode Chamisa’s credibility by claiming the former was planning a revolution.

5] ZanuPF is simply interested in power retention. Even stupid people can see the glaring link between ZANUPF’s attitude towards the MDC-A now, and the actual outcome of the 2018 elections. The MDC-A by ZanuPF standards “got what it doesn’t deserve” i.e. an electoral win.
6] The other opposition, MDC-T, by ZanuPF standards, “got what it deserved”, a paltry 45 000 votes. ZanuPF prefers the weak but needs both parties. Through courts &amp; Parly, Zanu is transferring MDC-T’s weaknesses to the MDC-A. After all, Zanu will always need an [opposition party] to blame.
7] I also hear that MDC-T will use the MDC-A name during bi-elections. So if MDC-A is a coalition, who are its current coalition partners? Since 2018, the other parties being engaged now had dissociated themselves from it. If its a party, what business does MDC-T have with it?
8] And again, spare a thought for Dr Khupe. A man who sells his neighbour should not be trusted by the buyer. She involved herself with people who abandoned her in 2018. The same people who since then, were conniving against the man they went with. Why then did she trust them?
9] Which “rational disputation” is DM using by sanitizing giving MDC-A officials a 2018 competitor as President? Where is the maturity &amp; respect from freedom of choice when recalling Legislators who have sided with Chamisa? Where is the constitutionality of unilateral recalls?
10] I for one have enjoyed watching the Mwonzora and/or MDC-T pressers. They keep exposing themselves. Give Mwonzora more microphones and speakers. This lockdown will surely be the death of many political careers. Eventually, the real party stakeholders will speak.

A political commentator, Davis Laque, believes the MDC Alliance risks being left with a demoralised and disillusioned support base for allowing party leaders to be abducted or arrested without reaction.
The fact that the party has lost several court cases to the MDC-T fronted by Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora may generate voter apathy in the party’s support base when 2023 comes. Writes Laque:

6] Shakespeare has exposed the long-held lie that Nelson Chamisa sent youths to burn MaKhupe and other MDC-T Leaders in Humanikwa. Without exposing what he apologized for to MaKhupe, Shakespeare CATEGORICALLY says that Adv Chamisa personally sent him to address those threatening violence.
7] State media continues to label Chamisa as an illegitimate Leader. Illegitimate Leader of what? Chamisa now leads a distinct political formation recognized even by those who recalled MPs. There is no Leadership question in the MDC-A but the resurrected MDC-T.
8] There is the lie that through the MDC-A, Chamisa has moved away from the MDC of 1999. That movement has historically taken different shapes. In fact, in the MDC-A, Chamisa is MRT’s successor. Tsvangirai was the first Leader of the BIG TENT MDC-A Chamisa succeeded him.

13] Reality is, Mwonzora and MaKhupe aren’t in charge of 103+2 MPs. That rally bravado is detached from what’s obtaining on the group. Explain what motivated the recall of Hwende, Khumalo and others, whilst Bvondo, Sikhala, Chibaya etc remain. Why aren’t they being recalled?
14] Reality is, politically, Mwonzora has been caught with his pants down. He might very well have to recall over 90 MPs. Observe how their NSC is a new one altogether. This outfit of individuals brought together by emotions was always bound to fail. Ignore the bravado.
15] Emotional scheming can only take you thus far. The revisionist attempts at involving the yesteryear Labour Unions is a whisper in the wind. The so-called consultative meeting with 5 ALLIANCE partners didn’t take off either.

MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora has proved that he is a pathological liar based on his narration of the events of the past few days, Davis Laque has observed.
Mwonzora has among other things, lied that the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance peacefully handed over their headquarters, the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House and that principals within the MDC Alliance led by Thokozani Khupe recently met in Eastlea to map the way forward.
Below is Laque’s full thread:

It remains a fact that no-one was arrested for possession of petrol bombs, nor destruction of doors.

5] Another lie is the description of events leading to the arrest of Biti et al.
In contrast to Mwonzora’s descriptions of events, no-one was inciting violence anywhere.
The illegal peace order which came after the violent takeover sadly doesn’t serve its intended purpose.
6] Forget that the peace order was nicodemously granted by a court without that legal jurisdiction, see how it is textbook ZanuPF stuff.
You make illegal actions first, then seek to abuse the law to cover up your tracks and external condemnation.
Mwonzora is learning fast.
7] Then the MDC ALLIANCE meeting…
The same MaKhupe who left the MDC of Tsvangirai because of the ALLIANCE now leads the MDC of Tsvangirai in the ALLIANCE.
Since the leader of the MDC-T is allegedly the leader of the ALLIANCE, MaKhupe has achieved the impossible.
8] The interesting thing about the alleged ALLIANCE meeting shouldn’t be about who attended or lack of pictorial evidence of the same.

Recent events within the MDC reveal that the MDC-T faction led by Thokozani Khupe is being used by the ZANU PF government to try to decimate the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa, Davis Laque, a political analyst has observed.
From the Supreme Court ruling in late March, delivered a day after the country was put on lockdown, to last night’s seizure of MDC Alliance headquarters by Khupe-aligned youths who were backed by the military, the ruling ZANU PF’ complicity is clear for all to see. Wrote Laque:

6] Told Hofisi that he was being naive by using a binary approach of having CONSTITUTIONALISTS vs POPULISTS in this fight.
Mwonzora is experienced enough to know that all he legally needed was an eviction notice using his party lease, through the Sheriff.
But who cares?
7] Mwonzora shall one day have to explain how soldiers, who are only legally deployed by their [Commander-in-Chief] CIC for reasons well articulated in the “constitution that he wrote” (whatever that means), ended up at MRTHouse!
Why is State Security interested in their takeover of MRTHouse?
8] As I tweet this, ZRP is still giving whoever is inside MRTHouse now, high-level security.
What is the basis for this? Why the interest?
Unsurprisingly, MDC-A officials, who tried to peaceful enter MRTHouse, through ZRP, are now on their way downtown!
Why is that so?

Ironically, these tactics involve using the system controlled by ZanuPF. The system MDC was formed to defeat.

How can you order that a football match be replayed two seasons later when one club has been dissolved, it’s coach has died, the majority of the players have joined other teams?
A political analyst, Davis Laque, says the “mootness” of the much-debated recent Supreme Court ruling on the MDC leadership is responsible for the “confusion” in the party.
Laque was commenting on <a href="http://davidhofisi.blogspot.com/2020/05/twists-and-turns-in-mdc-wrangle.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">an article</a> by Advocate David Hofisi, a legal commentator who had earlier pointed out the inconsistencies in the decision by the Nelson Chamisa-linked MDC faction to hold a National Council meeting on 21 May.
Writing on microblogging site Twitter, Laque said:

Both of you are ignoring that the SC judgement gave MaKhupe and Komichi tasks to do within the framework of the MDC-T party.
Their first mandate was to engage the so-called 2014 MDC-T Leadership.
The judgement doesn’t self implement. It equally can’t be implemented by 3 people.
The fact that #MaKhupe has not called for a “legal” NC meeting promoting a petition from an “illegal” NC gathering, is quite exposing.
Now you have 3 people who for all intent &amp; purposes, have become the 2014 MDC-T.
How did they decide the EOC dates without key NC meetings?
When those people argue that 2014 MDC-T doesn’t exist, they don’t mean the then Leaders are dead.
They are simply saying, we are there, but we have moved on.
Its the judgement which forces people who are calling themselves MDC-A to go back to being 2014 MDC-T.
Who is at fault?
Then there is the #Mwonzora option, that those who have joined MDC-A should do so, with the Extraordinary Congress (EOC) proceeding nevertheless.
Respectfully, this is nonsensical.
Only delegates from the last Ordinary Congress can use their mandate to run an EOC.
If that fails, it’s not an EOC.
#Mwonzora, regardless of how smart he can be, he cannot use anyone besides office bearers from the last Ordinary Congress of the MDC-T, for the purpose of the EOC.
It is only when you go for an Ordinary Congress where lower structures elect new Leadership.
If not, it is bogus
Then again, #Mwonzora misleadingly claims he has been given a 3 months extension to his expired mandate.
Fair enough
So past the EOC, which only elects a President, what happens to #Mwonzora’s 3 months extended mandate as SG?
Who will this new President lead with?
The EOC only made sense before the expiration of the mandate of those who can legally participate.
The ruling would have made sense had it arrived before October 2019.
Now in 2020, it will only cause this confusion &amp; bickering.
It’s being conveniently abused by #Mwonzora.
Be that as it may, people are right to say the meeting was ILLEGAL &amp; CONFUSING. It exposed those 2 important things.
There are no MDC-T structures that can meet legally. Their mandates expired.
There is no MDC-T meeting that can meet without CONFUSION. Those people moved on.
But if you are to blame someone, blame the judgement.
Alternatively, blame Mwonzora who has turned himself into the MDC-T NC, SC &amp; Constitution.
He has begun making pronouncements on behalf of people who haven’t given him that mandate.
He is SG to structures, not the ruling.
The judgement is exposing itself.
