Award-winning gospel musician Dorcas Moyo has expressed her gratitude to controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who recently gifted her a 2025 Toyota Fortuner and US$20,000.
In an open letter addressed to Chivayo, Moyo said that the level of generosity shown by him should never go unmentioned, as failing to do so would be tantamount to gross ingratitude. She said:

Chivayo announced on Monday, April 07, that he had gifted a car and cash to Moyo following the online backlash she faced in the lead-up to the 31 March protests.
Moyo became the target of intense criticism on social media after she shared lyrics from her song “ranganai henyu, asi zvichakona,” which translates to “Make your plans, but they will not work out.”
Critics accused her of implying that the protests, which were aimed at forcing President Emmerson Mnangagwa to resign, would fail.

Speaking about the trolling on social media, Moyo said she prefers to focus on the positive aspects, seeing the trolling as an opportunity to further promote her brand. She said:

Critics argue that accepting such gifts could tarnish her reputation and integrity, as it may appear that she is endorsing or condoning Chivayo’s alleged unethical practices.

Chivayo then mocked Zimbabweans calling for Mnangagwa’s resignation, saying the President will not be forced out of office through Twitter and YouTube. 
This appeared to be a reference to Geza, who has been using these platforms to transmit his messages to the public. Added Chivayo:

Chivayo also gifted Moyo “a small $20,000 in cash for petrol and to treat yourself at the salon, my dear sister. You deserve it after all this stress and the hate speech.”

Mutare-based award-winning gospel musician Dorcas Moyo has firmly denied the rumours of her engagement that have been circulating on social media.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/dorcas-moyo-dismisses-engagement-rumours/">The Herald</a>, Moyo explained that the rumours were sparked by a scene featured in her upcoming music video for the song “Ndinako Kutenda” from her album “Mvere Dzabvepi.”
Moyo revealed that since Wednesday, when she shared pictures of the video shoot on her official Facebook page, her phone has been inundated with calls inquiring about the supposed engagement.
However, the gospel artist clarified that the scene in question was merely part of the creative direction for the music video and had no connection to her personal life. Said Moyo:

Speaking in an interview with <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/life-amp-style/article/200022364/societal-immoralities-prompt-me-into-action-moyo">NewsDay</a> early this year, Moyo said problems that arise in people’s daily lives prompted her to use music as a tool to fight societal immoralities. Mutare-based award-winning gospel musician <a href="https://wiki.pindula.co.zw/Dorcas_Moyo">Dorcas Moyo</a> has bought school uniforms and paid fees for the whole year for her young “super fan” who is a learner at Matika Primary School in Mutare.
The young girl, Irene Chakonesa, whose age has not been revealed, praised Moyo in a written composition last year.
Moyo said she has been looking for the “little angel”, in reference to Irene, since last year and finally found her on Monday.
In a Facebook post, Moyo said her heart was “finally… at peace” after meeting her young fan.
She also expressed gratitude to the Matika Primary School headmistress one Mrs Mhandu for welcoming her to the school to interact with learners. Wrote Moyo:

Award-winning gospel musician Dorcas Moyo launched her latest album, “Mhanza Haisekwe” at Chancellor Junior School in Mutare on 11 March.
Hundreds of people, including other gospel musicians such as Michael Mahendere, Terrence Dzatsata, Hosiah Chipanga, Caroline Chidzikwe, Blessing Shumba, Vabati VaJehovah, Admire Nago and Joyful Praise, graced the event.
Award-winning South-African-based gospel musician, producer and instrumentalist, Takesure “Zamar” Ncube, also attended the launch.
Scores of bidders bought the album with different amounts ranging from US$10 to US$1 000. The highest bidder bought the album for US$2 000.
Speaking in an interview with <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/dorcas-moyo-silences-critics-launches-album/">The Manica Post</a>, Moyo said she was overwhelmed by the support she received. She said:

The show was a huge success and we were overwhelmed by the immense support we got from the people of Mutare and beyond.

It may need one try after another. Hard work bears fruit. Keep focused on producing your work instead of wasting your energy in pricking and devouring each other.

Posting on her Facebook page this Friday, Fungisai, who rose to fame in the year 2000 when she recorded her first album under Elias Musakwa’s stable, said musicians are “downtrodden”.
Fungisai said she envies those who decided to become doctors, teachers, or nurses, adding she wishes she could start her life all over again. She wrote:

Fungisai Says She Regrets Becoming A Musician

The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe will hold the Greater Harare Conference this weekend from Friday to Sunday.
Greater Harare is made up of AFM In Zimbabwe congregants from Harare, Chitungwiza and Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East and Mashonaland West provinces.
Several top gospel artists, among them Mathias Mhere, Dorcas Moyo, Jonah Chivasa, Joyful Praise and the National Praise team, will perform at the event which will be held at Glamis Arena at the Exhibition Park.
AFM in Zimbabwe president Amon Madawo told <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/top-gospel-acts-for-afm-conference/">The Herald</a> that the main aim of the conference is to bring healing and revival to the members of the church. He said:

We have so far held Greater Manicaland, Greater Chivhu and Greater Bulawayo conferences.
March 2023 will see us holding Greater Midlands for all the congregants from Gokwe and surrounding areas and Midlands province at large.
The main thrust of these conferences is to bring part and parcel of healing and revival to the members of the AFM.
In addition, preparing the members and refocusing the church on her mission and mandate will be key.
Thus in addition brings the attention of the members to prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Madawo said the Bishop of Pentecostal Assemblies who is also in the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Bishop Never Muparutsa, will be the guest speaker.
He said AFM has also invited other church bodies as well as Government officials, the Harare City mayor and captains of industry.
The theme of the conference, “Impacting the World Through the Gospel of the Kingdom” which was derived from Matthew 24 verses 11-14 and Acts 1:8.

Dorcas Moyo To Perform At AFM Greater Harare Conference

Mutare-based gospel artiste Dorcas Moyo says she is humbled by being considered one of the most popular gospel singers in Zimbabwe by music lovers.
In most discussions about music on social media, Moyo’s name is mentioned quite often especially following the release of her latest album “Bvudzi Rangu Ramera”.
Speaking during an interview with H-Metro, Moyo said that with being popular, the greatest challenge is to remain humble. She said:

First and foremost, I am humbled by being regarded among the most popular and I thank God for taking me this far.
I am only a human being and that at times weighs heavily on me.
I know that comes with being popular but the greatest challenge and biggest objective is to remain humble and also enhance my position and status.

Moyo said she started singing as a hobby and had not planned to take up music as a career. She said:

Honestly speaking, I was just a person keen on ministering to the Lord.
Recording one or two songs was enough for me but God had other plans.
Not a single day in my lifetime did I ever think about it.
Prayer, perseverance, consistence and practice are key.
Coupled with a group of people around me, who give advice, and pray with me.
Needless to mention my supporting group, The Heavenly Melodies.

Moyo is set to perform in the UK in October for the first time. She has three shows lined up in the British Isles. Moyo said:

We are excited about the United Kingdom tour that is pencilled for the month of October.
It is our inaugural UK tour and we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring total satisfaction to our supporters who have been crying out for us.
I am elated and curious at the same time for I am setting foot on unfamiliar territory.
I am extending my invitation to all across the UK to make efforts to come and meet us during this tour.

Dorcas Moyo has released eight albums to date. These are Ndokusheedzai Jesu (2006), Ndinokutungamirira (2009), Zvininipise (2018), Ndibatsirei Mwari (2019), Pamara Tapfuura (2020), Bvisai Marara (2021), Bvudzi Rangu Ramera (2022) and singles collections.
She records at Kunashe Studios and Olin Anderson is her producer.

Dorcas Moyo Set For United Kingdom Tour

Mutare-based gospel musician, Dorcas Moyo, said that the internet has benefited artistes in many ways than one in spite of some of the adverse effects it has brought.
Moyo, who rose to fame through her hit song “Haakotsire”, said the internet has helped musicians market their music and also opened a new revenue stream as some internet sites pay royalties. Said Moyo:

Personally, I have no qualms with the impact that the internet has had, not only on my music but on a host of all other artists.
Music is now accessible from anywhere across the globe.
The fact that most internet sites are paying out royalties is icing on the cake.
I, however, do not take the adverse effects that it has brought to artists lightly, as well.
The availability of a plethora of internet sites that have music has also fuelled the cancer of piracy that has elbowed an avalanche of artists out of the industry.
By and large, if properly managed and utilised, the internet can be a game-changer for talented artists.
