South African opposition politician, Floyd Shivambu, on Thursday, 15 August, formally announced his resignation from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party.
The party’s leader, Julius Malema, announced that his deputy Floyd Shivambu has quit the party to join Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK Party) led by former president, Jacob Zuma.
Addressing the media at the Winnie Madikizela Mandela House in Johannesburg, Malema said that when he got Shivambu’s letter, he “felt the same pain as when I received news of the passing away of my mother.”
In a statement to EFF members, Shivambu, who was EFF deputy president, said he had resigned from his position as a Member of Parliament and all positions in the EFF. Reads the statement:

The Chairperson of Ward 44 Johannesburg has informed me that my membership of the EFF has lapsed.
Please be informed that I will not renew my membership of the EFF in Ward 44 which is one of the best-performing Wards of the EFF in the Johannesburg region.
I also request to resign my position as Member of Parliament and all positions I hold in the EFF. I will only do so after receiving a go-ahead from the organisation because it is the EFF that deployed me to Parliament.
I cherish and appreciate the work that we collectively did in the EFF and building a formidable organisation. 
I believe the aspirations and vision contained in the Organisational Redesign document of the EFF can still be achieved.
My non-renewal of membership of the EFF is not a vote of no confidence in the organisation, but a revolutionary act that will allow Progressive Forces to unite and work towards the agenda for progressive and revolutionary change.
I have never in my service to the organisation acted outside its democratic and revolutionary decisions, discipline and practice. I have served with humility and discipline.
I will never abandon the cause for economic emancipation and true freedom in our lifetime. I will never compromise my commitment to true emancipation and Marxist Leninist ideological lenses to view and understand society.
I will not do or say anything that compromises the integrity of an organisation that we collectively founded.
My sincere plea is that the in its reflection of the decision I have taken, the organisation should also avoid slander and mischaracterisation of an otherwise revolutionary and disciplined decision to not renew the membership and request to be released from other functions I am deployed to.
I am available to talk about the details of how we should collectively communicate the decision publicly so that it does not affect the integrity of the organisation.
We have over the years played an important role in shaping the politics of South Africa and the continent. We have all played our parts progressively and have no doubt that we will continue to do so.
I firmly believe that political decisions should never be personalized and treated as betrayal of the cause and of individuals.
You are my brother and comrade and will always cherish the contributions we made in our lives during the struggle for economic emancipation.
I wish the EFF full prosperity and success and wish that all the Commissars and Ground Forces will accept the very difficult decision I have taken. The struggle and war for economic freedom will never be compromised by any individual decision.

South Africa’s second-largest opposition political party, EFF, has called for the expulsion of the United States Ambassador to South Africa, Reuben E Brigety for allegedly interfering in the country’s internal affairs.
The call comes after Brigety last week alleged that supplied had supplied weapons and ammunition for its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement, EFF reminded Ambassador Brigety that South Africa had the “sovereign right to determine who she trades with and who her friends are.” Reads the statement:

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) condemns the contemptuous imperialist talk of the United States Ambassador to South Africa, Reuben E Brigety on several foreign policy and diplomatic issues which could be handled through the normal diplomatic channels.
We are concerned because lately, the US Embassy in South Africa seems to be leaning towards interference with domestic and sovereign foreign policy issues that cannot and will not be dictated by an external force.
In his latest ranting, the US Ambassador hysterically demonized South Africa’s relationship with the Russian Federation and out of context spoke about the Lady R Vessel which docked in Simonstown in December 2022.
The South African Ministry of Defence has already clarified in December 2022 that the Vessel came to collect the orders made before the COVID-19 pandemic and it is consistent with international best practice to honour contractual trade obligations and relationships.
The US has absolutely no right and permission to interfere with South Africa’s sovereign right to determine who she trades with and who her friends are.
The EFF’s diplomatic and firm advice to the US Ambassador Reuben E Brigety is that he must SHUT UP on all sovereign policy decisions and relationships South Africa engages in.
South Africa is not a colonial outpost of the US and will never be one. South Africa will not be under imperialist control by the US, and the sooner this sitting Ambassador understands that the better.
The EFF is additionally concerned about Ambassadors who call Media Conferences to speak about issues that could have been handled through normal diplomatic channels.
Instead of raising false alarms with the media and making reflections on the domestic policy position of a political party, the US Ambassador should have approached the government to clarify his confusion.
There are several embassies and foreign missions from different countries in South Africa and none of them have demonstrated the misbehaviour and ill-discipline of Ambassador Reuben E Brigety.
We therefore call for the immediate dismissal of the US Ambassador from South Africa for his unbecoming, undiplomatic and outrightly irresponsible approach to diplomatic relations.
There have been US ambassadors in South Africa before and none have ever descended into the gallery in the manner demonstrated senselessly by Reuben E Brigety. He must be dismissed as urgent as possible.
The United States has no right, none whatsoever, to tell South Africa what must happen with President Vladimir Putin.
If there are people who must be arrested and appear before the International Criminals Court, it is US former President George Bush for the illegal war in Iraq and Barack Obama for the senseless assassination of Brother Leader Muammar Gadaffi.
There is no one who is going to arrest President Putin in South Africa and there is no imperialist nation that will instruct South Africa to do.
Finally, the usage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) as a mechanism to bully South Africa or any country into imperialist compliance is unacceptable.
South Africa’s current biggest trading partner is the People’s Republic of China, and not once did we ever hear the Chinese embassy and ambassador instruct South Africa who else to trade with and what foreign policy decisions to take.

EFF Calls For Expulsion Of US Ambassador To South Africa

South African opposition political party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has demanded the return of the Star of Africa which it claimed was stolen by the British monarchy.
The EFF made the demand on Saturday, 06 May to coincide with the coronation of King Charles III.
In a statement, EFF also castigated African leaders who attended Charles’ coronation, saying they were further endorsing the oppression of Africans under the banner of trade. Reads the statement:

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) reiterates its demand for the return of the stolen Star of Africa from the internationalist mafia, the British monarchy.
The largest diamond, known as the Star of Africa is set in the British monarch’s sceptre and Imperial State Crown.
Today, 116 years later, the King of England, Charles III continues in the pompous steps of his predecessors flaunting the stolen Star of Africa at his coronation.
Apartheid criminal, Louis Botha handed over the Star of Africa to the ruthless British colonisers in 1907.
Botha was a well-known apartheid criminal who had no legitimacy to hand over the Star of Africa.
The British monarchy had no dignified grounds to accept it, let alone still parade it as British glory 116 years later.
The British monarchy continue to live in the grandeur of African wealth – all this, while African children die of starvation.
Charles III is firmly on track of his predecessors as he parades the fruits of their brutal legacy of dehumanization of millions of people across the world.
The attendance of the ANC Government at the coronation legitimatises the brutality of the British monarchy against the very people it is elected to serve.
Instead of vigorously pursuing justice, the return of stolen jewels and repatriations, it is scrambling for a bus ride and a back-row seat at the coronation of the unrepentant Charles III.
The presence of African leaders at the coronation is an endorsement of further oppression of Africans under the banner of trade.
There will be no fair trade as long as justice, the return of stolen jewels and repartitions are not pursued by African states.
It is only an EFF Government that will fearlessly pursue justice and repartitions from the former heinous colonisers.
The dignity of Africans will be restored in 2024 by the EFF Government.

The Star of Africa diamond, also known as the Cullinan diamond, is one of the largest diamonds ever discovered.
It was found in 1905 in the Premier Mine in South Africa and weighed 3,106 carats. The diamond was named after Sir Thomas Cullinan, who owned the mine at the time.
The Star of Africa was eventually cut into several smaller diamonds, with the largest being known as the Cullinan I or the Great Star of Africa.
This diamond weighs 530.4 carats and is set in the head of the Sovereign’s Sceptre with a Cross, which is part of the British Crown Jewels.

Malema's EFF Issues Statement On Second National People's Assembly {Full Text}

South African opposition leader Julius Malema of the Economic Freedom Fighters has castigated MDC president Nelson Chamisa for rejecting the electoral outcome even before elections were held. Speaking during an interview with SABC, Malema said:
<blockquote>I have a problem with the opposition when they say that this will not accept a result that does not pronounce them winners before the election.</blockquote>
Malema said being able to pull huge crowds at rallies does not mean that one has won an election. Otherwise, there is no need to hold elections but rather use rallies to determine the winner.

EFF Close To Doubling 2014 Parliamentary Seats

Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party on Wednesday slammed an Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) official who intended to remove his wife’s fake nails at his voting station before she could cast her vote.
Malema who cast his vote at the Mponegele Primary School in Seshego together with his family said:
<blockquote>There was some official who said to my wife that she must take out her nail so that they can put a mark (on her thumb). And I found that bizarre because where is that written in the rules that women who have long nails can’t vote?
We cannot have such a patriarchal arrangement happening at the voting station. Luckily the electoral officer came and said there is no such a thing, she can vote with her nail. But the person who puts a mark on people has a scissor there and she uses these scissors to take your nails out.</blockquote>
The EFF leader said that these issues need to be challenged now before they are institutionalised. He also argued that participating in the electoral processes must never cost people a thing.
Nevertheless, Malema also observed that the voting process was “smooth”. He added:
<blockquote>“But the process was smooth and quicker. And I’m happy that the IEC seems to be organised, especially here in Seshego.”</blockquote>
Malema is usually accompanied to vote by his late grandmother, Sarah Malema, who died last weekend.

Julius Malema Mourns Grandmother

A Zimbabwean political party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has called upon South Africans to vote for the EFF ahead of a general election set for May 8.
The idea to form a Zimbabwean EFF was inspired by South Africa’s Julius Malema-led party.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Zimbabwean EFF claimed that the majority of South Africans are not yet free economically. The statement reads:
<blockquote>We as the Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters endorse and share EFF’s vision to deliver hope and inspiration to the people of South Africa, the continent and beyond. The struggle for economic freedom and economic emancipation is for all black people on the continent and beyond.
It is 25 years since South Africa attained political independence, tragically political freedom has not translated into visible economic emancipation for the majority of South African particularly Black South Africans.
South Africa is at the crossroads, the country is at the cusps of history. The people of South Africa have clear choices in this election. They can choose more of the same represented by the underachieving ANC, nolstagic of the basskaap years DA or the progressive, transformative and radical EFF.
Zim EFF, here and now calls upon, compatriots of Zimbabwean origin eligible to vote in South Africa in the coming elections to vote for EFF.</blockquote>

Zim Opposition Party Calls For South Africa To Vote For EFF

President Mnangagwa has hinted that there would never be a reversal of the intended compensation of former farm owners.
This comes amidst attacks in some circles who view the move as a reversal of the land reform programme. For instance, Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters of South Africa described Mnangagwa as a sellout for hinting on compensating former farm owners.
Mnangagwa indicated that as far as the land reform programme was irreversible, compensation was also a necessity.
He said:
<blockquote>In agriculture, the land reform is irreversible and Section 72 of the Constitution is very clear in this regard.
However, the same Constitution provides that no compensation is payable in respect of its acquisition, except for improvements effected on the land before its acquisition
For a long time Government has provided through the fiscus for such payments in respect of the said compensation on improvements of the land. Government will meet its obligation as outlined in the Constitution.</blockquote>
He also indicated that the land reform programme could not be reversed considering that it was at the heart of the liberation struggle. He said:
<blockquote>For the avoidance of doubt, we fought for land and there is no way we will retract our position with regards the land reform.
Neither will we betray our fellow comrades who lie in marked and unmarked graves who paid the supreme sacrifice for this land.</blockquote>
Zimbabwe embarked on a fast-tracked land reform programme in the late 1990s which resulted in the displacement and departure of white farmers.

Mnangagwa Vows To Proceed With Compensation Of White Farmers

Fire-brand leader of South African opposition party Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema has implored the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to offer Zimbabwe a conditional financial bailout package. Speaking to the media in South Africa, Malema said:
<blockquote>We (SADC) are becoming a laughing stock all over the world because one of our own is swimming in a pool of debt and we are unable to provide them with a conditional grant which must not end up in the hands of Zanu PF politicians.
It must be a grant that is dedicated to developmental programmes which help Zimbabwe to stand on its own. A weaker Zimbabwe leads to a weaker Sadc region. We need Zimbabwe, even if we do not have money. So, the little we have as Africans, we need to share and stop being greedy, otherwise, we are setting Zimbabweans up for IMF (International Monetary Fund) and World Bank bailouts and you know what happens …
… or we are setting them up for the Chinese, who are now gradually proving to be extremely hostile where they even take assets of countries which are unable to pay them back. Let us not put Zimbabwe under such a situation. We are Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe is us. Their problems are our problems.
Whether it’s done by Mnangagwa, whether it’s done by Mugabe, it is unacceptable. Mnangagwa must know that it’s unacceptable to beat up people, to break cellphones of people, to shut down the Internet. It’s unacceptable. It’s barbaric.</blockquote>

Julius Malema Pleads With SADC To Provide Zim A Financial Bailout Package Or The Chinese Will Take Over

South African opposition party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on Tuesday issued a response to the fuel protests seen in Zimbabwe, condemning Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government for turning the military on citizens.
EFF says Mnangagwa’s government attempts to calm the situation is something they would expect to see from his predecessor Robert Mugabe. We publish the full statement below:
<blockquote>The EFF extends its solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe, who have taken to the streets to protest against the increase in petrol prices. We call on the government of Zimbabwe to respond to these demonstrations with restraint. We particularly condemn the unleashing of military on citizens who are exercising their right to protest.
A democratic government knows too well that militaries are not entities used to respond to protesting, armless, and defenceless citizens. To unleash the military is to treat citizens as enemies of the state, who must be met with excessive violence, force and death, as militaries are death driven, only to be deployed to those who are armed and sworn enemies of the people. Militaries should never ever be used against protests and civil defiance demonstrations actions.
The progressive international community celebrated the fall of Mugabe, with the hope that the era of human rights abuse, associated with his reign in Zimbabwe, will come to an end. President Mnangagwa is therefore consistent with the Mugabe administration in violation of the citizen’s right to protest and civil disobedience.</blockquote>

South African opposition leader and founding leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party Julius Malema has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to serve only one term as president saying that he is too old. Malema who was one of the first people to sent a congratulatory message to Mnangagwa after he was declared the winner of the presidential election by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) said,

In essence, President Mugabe has accepted the democratic outcome of the ZANU-PF’s Central Committee meeting which overwhelmingly voted for his recall. We commend him for respecting this decision despite the fact that the Zimbabwe Defense Force had imposed and forced a transitional condition on his government. </div>

We call on the people of the world to accept the settlement reached by Mugabe and ZANU-PF which includes full immunity for him and his family. This is a perfect outcome for peace and stability in Zimbabwe which will allow Zimbabweans to define a post-Mugabe era. 
We call on Zimbabweans never to undo the land program or return the land to the white settler communities. This is one legacy of President Mugabe that must be advanced and protected at all costs. We say this because we know that some celebrate the resignation of President Mugabe with the hope that this important revolutionary gain will be undermined. It is the obligation of all pan-Africanist to protect all the gains of decolonization in Zimbabwe. 
For whatever its weaknesses, the land reform in Zimbabwe must always be taken in light of the betrayals of the British to comply with the Lancaster Agreements. Land must now be put to use to benefit the Zimbabwean people and economy and restore it as the bread-basket of the African continent.
The EFF is proud of Zimbabwe because as a people, in their own way, managed to redefine a new chapter for themselves. The path they took did not have a pre-script in any political history in the world. No military in human history has managed to ensure the facilitation of the removal of a President without any spill of blood, whilst respecting all democratic processes and institutions.
Many political science students still need to make sense of the genus of the Zimbabwean transition. Above all, it tells a story of true self-determination when a people come together and chart an unprescribed path for themselves which will go on to be emulated by many generations of other countries to come.

"No military in history has managed to remove a President without any spill of blood": EFF celebrates Mugabe's resignation

South African opposition party the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on the South African government to grant political asylum to President Robert Mugabe after the military took over power in Zimbabwe. <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2017/11/15/south-africa-dispatches-special-envoy-meet-mugabe-military/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Mugabe confirmed to his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma that he was under house arrest.</a>
The EFF whose leader Julius Malema has been highly critical of Mugabe’s decision to hold onto power for 37 years said:
<blockquote>He must be allowed to come to South Africa so that a peaceful transition can indeed take place.</blockquote>

South Africa Should Grant Robert Mugabe Political Asylum To Ensure Peace in Zim: EFF

<blockquote>The EFF rejects the defense of President Mugabe by the Zimbabwean Government’s Communications as evidence of the very fact of personality cult amongst them. After failing to provide sound defense from our criticism of their blind worship of President Mugabe. ZANU-PF has now resorted to using government platforms. 
We want to state without any fear of contradiction that we reject the phenomenon of “lead to the grave” that ZANU-PF has created out of President Mugabe. In defense of this phenomenon all ZANU-PF and now the Zimbabwean government has said is that EFF and GIG Julius Malema are irrelevant. The question is why then take government time and resources to respond to irrelevant things? The truth is they have taken time to respond precisely because our criticism has actually heat home. 
There is no amount of propaganda that can change the fact that President Mugabe is old and should not be working in the high office of President. What is worse is that ZANU-PF has even nominated him as their presidential candidate for 2018 elections. 
We will never tell lies; ZANU-PF is afraid of the truth and they all live a lie. But all lies have short legs and now they are exposed because they actually have no political reasons why they have kept President Mugabe in power even when he cannot physically do it. They also have no actual defense to our charge that theirs is a politics of personality cult. 
We love President Mugabe than all those ZANU-PF cowards who surround him because we tell him the truth. The EFF are the only ones that actually care for the old man; we are caring enough to tell him to go rest and hand in the baton to others. 
The African Revolution must disabuse itself from the politics of personality cult and the reactionary phenomenon of “lead to the grave”; the time for President Mugabe to step down passed a long time ago. In the word of the CIC Julius Malema. we repeat that “grandpa. you must let go”!

Economic Freedom Fighters' full response to Zimbabwean Govt's defense of Mugabe's continued stay in power

Earlier today (Tuesday),<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/news/2017/01/24/govt-releases-press-statement-criticising-julius-malema-comments-president-mugabe/" target="_blank"> the government released a statement</a> criticising Julius Malema’s <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/news/2017/01/23/malema-calls-mugabe-let-go-tells-grandpa-enough/" target="_blank">calls for President Mugabe to step down</a>.  Malema’s party the Economic Freedom Fighters did not take long to respond.  Here is their own statement in response.

The EFF reaffirms its position that President Mugabe’s occupancy of the position of president is not good for the radical African political program. He is the bastion of the reactionary phenomenon of “lead to the death” that has crippled the image and praxis of post-colonial Africa. President Mugabe is not only the contemporary engine of personality cult, but he is protected by a group of cowards around him who hypocritically defend him everyday, whilst harbouring ambitions to lead soon.
We are unequivocal that revolutions ought to promote programs and not personalities. The continent needs heroes who will be able to stand firm on the objectives of the African revolution whilst allowing democratic practices and succession of leadership. His example is contradictory to this ideal since it directly or indirectly promotes the phenomenon of refusing to leave office until death.
Before the ZANU-PF and its youth wing respond to the EFF about the charge that they are cowards; they should ask themselves a simple question – what is revolutionary about being led by a person in old age; who sleeps all the time in meetings, can no longer even hold a pen or write half a page? Failure to respond to this question signifies not that they are afraid of others, but of President Mugabe.
When youth movement across the continent are fighting for change, questioning the transformation of liberation movements into old age homes and general gerontocracy. The ZANU-PF youth is instead defending and advancing an essentially anti-youth statuesque. This is because there is actually no youth in the ZANU-PF Youth; what you find are middle age men and women, half of which are suffering from a mid-life crises. They should be ashamed of themselves for holding the future from being born in Zimbabwe.
We shall never tell lies as revolutionaries; all the anti-colonial struggle icons like Oliver Tambo, Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere knew when it was enough and handed over the baton to others. The African revolution must always distance itself from all forms of personality cults; insistence that President Mugabe must lead to the grave is a sign that ZANU-PF is drowning in cowardice.

EFF Full Statement on Zanu PF's Response to calls for President Mugabe to Step Down

Julius Malema’s party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has rejected a weekend statement that called for the “swift removal” of foreign nationals from the City of Johannesburg.
Part of the statement by EFF said:
<blockquote>The EFF rejects the statement that calls for the removal of foreign nationals from the city of Johannesburg released under the name of the EFF. The statement calls for the ostracism of foreign nationals is not only fake but it contradicts everything EFF stands for.

The EFF believes that the city of Johannesburg belongs to all Africans, as does the whole of South Africa
We call on members of the EFF and the entire society to be careful of fake accounts and fake news. Both Twitter and Facebook accounts of the EFF have been authenticated. EFF statements are therefore released to the public through these outlets together with the official EFF website.

This statement by EFF comes after a threatening message purporting to be from the party began circulating on social media saying that foreign nationals should be driven out of the country, especially in Pretoria and Johannesburg CBD. The viral message said a section of South Africans were planning a demonstration on February 24 against the influx of foreign nationals who they accused of taking their jobs. The statement singled out Zimbabweans, Nigerians and Pakistanis as major problems saying there was no war in these countries.
