Political Professor, Jonathan Moyo, has said numerous splits over the years weakened the opposition MDC to the extent that it cannot unseat the ruling ZANU PF on its own.
Posting on microblogging site, Twitter, this on Christmas Eve, the exiled former Information minister was discussing the possibility of government change in Zimbabwe. 
He said the security sector can effect a change adding that it was impossible for an opposition political party to effect a “transformational change of government.” Moyo said:

Although a TRANSITIONAL change of government in Zimbabwe led by the deep state (key serving &amp; retired securocrats ans bureaucrats) can and might indeed occur at anytime, a TRANSFORMATIONAL change of government by an opposition political party cannot occur without a ZANU PF role.
</blockquote>
Others disagreed with the former Tsholotsho legislator saying while it is difficult, an organised MDC Alliance can definitely win and govern without ZANU PF. Moyo responded:

Ok, it’s your right to disagree and I respect that. But there are too many lessons in history which show that when a major political party has three major splits within 15 years; in 2005, 2014 and 2020; it is gone for good. No amount of wishful or cultic thinking can save it!

Moyo who recently withdrew his offer to train MDC Alliance polling agents is at crossroads with MDC supporters and sympathisers after he ‘advised’ MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa on how to use the US$120 000 donated by supporters for buying an armoured vehicle.
Moyo suggested that the former ICT Minister must use the money to capacitate polling agents and buy an office.

MDC Is Gone For Good - Prof Jonathan Moyo

Nelson Chamisa the leader of the opposition MDC has been warned that it is wasting its resources by challenging the 2018 elections results.
This comes after Chamisa has announced that the party had found “new evidence” from professor Jonathan Moyo’s Excelgate which suggests that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, in connivance with the ruling ZANU PF, manipulated elections in favour of President Mnangagwa. Commenting on the development, Muckraker said:
<blockquote>You mean Mpofu and the MDC actually believe that the same Malaba who rejected evidence placed before him will now somehow change his mind because of an overhyped roadside pamphlet?
Do these people want to kill Malaba with a stroke? Please, the man is still too young. Who would be left to lead our world-renowned judiciary if the learned judge died of laughter?</blockquote>
This also comes after Pedzisai Ruhanya the director of the Harare-based Zimbabwe Democracy Institute (ZDI) <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/02/27/ruhanya-another-unnecessary-defeat-as-chamisa-drags-ed-to-court-again-over-2018-elections/">has said that the MDC is wasting its time and was bringing unnecessary embarrassment upon itself by challenging the 2018 election outcome again</a>
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Nick Mangwana has said that <a href="https://twitter.com/nickmangwana/status/1233232183034286080">Moyo’s “novel”, referring to the Excelgate was no evidence at all.</a>

"Don't Kill Malaba With Laughter," As Chamisa Finds "New Evidence From A Novel" To Prove Election Rigging

<blockquote>We have now completed our sober and painstaking study of Excelgate. In embarking on that study, we allowed ourselves to be guided by the remarks of MALABA J (as he then was) in City of Mutare v Mawoyo 1995 (1) ZLR 258 (HC) where he held as follows:
“The question whether or not this court has jurisdiction to alter its final judgments or orders has been answered in previous decisions of courts in jurisdictions that follow the common law tradition. The general rule is that once a final judgment or order has been given, the judge who gave it or any other judge of parallel jurisdiction has no power to alter, rescind, vary or set it aside, except in the few instances recognised at common law or by the Rules of the High Court. One of the exceptions recognised at common law is when the judgment or order has been obtained through fraudulent misrepresentation.” 
Doubtless, Excelgate comes with certain consequences.

I don’t doubt there was electoral fraud in 2018 elections but getting wrong, an important statistic in an election like the total number of wards from where the purported fake results were transmitted is fatal. Getting it wrong once might be a typo, but 5 times is unpardonable.
Repeating the same mistake on Twitter, months after the publication of the bk is even disastrous. If one chooses to base their argument on the transmission of results from wards, fraudulently adding 27 wards on top of 1 958 used in the election makes them as culpable as ZEC.</blockquote>

Exiled former cabinet minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonathan_Moyo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jonathan Moyo</a>‘s book, ” <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Excelgate_Book" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Excelgate</a>: How Zimbabwe’s 2018 Presidential Election Was Stolen,” will be available on 30 January this year after it was registered with Amazon.
This was revealed by <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ibbo_Mandaza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ibbo Mandaza</a>, the publisher of the book in an interview with NewZimbabwe.com. He said:
<blockquote>The delay in availability of the book was due to complications with the ISBN number, which was issued by the National Archives.
It is believed that the ISBN number issued was fake and as a result, the book could not be registered on Amazon. A new ISBN number has been obtained and production of the book has resumed.
The stock of the book will be available on Amazon from the 30th of January 2020. Once this was uncovered only a limited number of books were printed for the (abortive) launch.</blockquote>
Mandaza also spoke about the 65-page PDF document that is circulating on social media purporting to be a copy of Excelgate.
He said the PDF document is a watered-down version of the 260-page book, with critical information removed.

Suspected State agents have reportedly edited Jonathan Moyo’s book, Excelgate, and produced excerpts which they compiled into a 65-page adulterated book.
Excelgate is a book which purports to reveal how Zimbabwe’s security services, working in cahoots with electoral officials, manipulated the 2018 elections results using an excel spreadsheet.
According to the book, the results that were announced by the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Electoral_Commission" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Electoral Commission</a> were far removed from the actual results, which showed that MDC leader Nelson Chamisa won the presidential vote by over 60 per cent.
The “doctored” and watered-down 65-page version has been circulated extensively on social media and security agents reportedly stripped it of critical information which shows how the election was stolen.
Responding to some of his followers on Twitter, in a series of posts, <a href="https://twitter.com/ProfJNMoyo/status/1208277327832072192" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Professor Moyo wrote</a>:
<blockquote>I don’t know their rubbish from 7 July 2019 or what they are hiding with it. But EXCELGATE’S preliminary pages are from i to xxvi (16) pages while the pages in the book’s main section are from 1 to 234. Altogether the book has 260 pages. So their 65 pdf pages are just cow dung!
The 65 pdf pages are A4 bond paper size and the ediots are saying the pages “compress”, meaning the 65 pages reduce or shrink, into 260 book pages. Maiwe. With these kinds of ediots, who needs any ediots?
Peddling a fake 65-page pdf crap which is not a copycat of the real thing is not piracy but desperate criminality by Mnangagwa’s usual criminals who are cornered. Anyone who thinks that President Mbeki is reading that 65-page pdf crap needs a psychiatrist!</blockquote>
Ibbo Mandaza of Sapes Books took to Twitter Saturday morning castigating the malicious campaign against Excelgate by some trolls. <a href="https://twitter.com/ibbo11455004/status/1208272506127339520" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">He wrote:</a>

Suspected State Agents Produce 'Fake' Excelgate To 'Hide Critical Information'

Former South African President, Thabo Mbeki, who was in Zimbabwe early this week on a mission to facilitate dialogue between President Emerson Mnangagwa and MDC leader Nelson Chamisa, is reading <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Excelgate_Book" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Excelgate</a>, a book that purports to show how the 2018 presidential election results were manipulated to favour the ruling ZANU PF party.
Excelgate was authored by former ZANU PF politburo member and cabinet minister Professor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonathan_Moyo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jonathan Moyo</a>.
In the book, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ibbo_Mandaza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ibbo Mandaza</a>, in his foreword, claims that a server which was designed to record the results electronically was severed illegally and irregularly and then replaced with an Excel spreadsheet into which data was manually and fraudulently entered.
Moyo also alleges that the unadulterated election results indicated that Chamisa had won the elections by a landslide, garnering 66% of the vote, while Mnangagwa received just under 33%.
Mandaza told The Independent that Mbeki was given a copy of Excelgate through Advocate Mojanku Gumbi, a human rights lawyer who accompanied Mbeki to Harare and served as Mbeki’s special adviser during his time at the President of South Africa.

ZANU PF Youths have reportedly stormed the venue (SAPES Books) where former cabinet minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonathan_Moyo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jonathan Moyo’s</a> book, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Excelgate" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ExcelGate</a>, was scheduled to be launched on Tuesday.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) notified SAPES Books director <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ibbo_Mandaza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ibbo Mandaza</a> that the launch could not go ahead as they did not have sufficient manpower to provide security.
Officer Commanding Harare Central District Chief Superintendent O. Mugomeri wrote to Mandaza:
<blockquote>Your notification letter requesting police manpower on launching your book on the 17th of December 2019 from 1700 hours to 2000 hours has been noted.
However, be advised that due to the short notice you gave us, we are not in a position to action your request.

Police Refuses To Provide Security At The Launch Of 'Excelgate'

Exiled Former Cabinet Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo has said that those who think his Excelgate, a book allegedly exposing how Zimbabwe’s 2018 elections were stolen, is a comic piece of work will be disillusioned.
His remarks come after a publication called Muckraker reviewed Moyo’s book and concluded that the book was a joke. Moyo responded saying:
<blockquote>The ediots who think EXCELGATE is about a Microsoft SPREADSHEET are in a for a shock. Their ediocy is like saying WATERGATE was about a BUILDING when it was about Richard Nixon &amp; his crimes against the Democrats in the US; which led to his resignation in the face of impeachment!</blockquote>
The 2018 elections were won by the ruling ZANU PF but the opposition MDC and some observers are adamant that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commo=ission connived with the governing party to manipulate the election outcome.
The MDC claim that its leader, Nelson Chamisa won the elections and should be the president, therefore, the party has since 2018 been refusing to recognise Mnangagwa as a legitimate president.

Jonathan Moyo Responds To Comments Saying His Book Is A Huge Joke

Former cabinet minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Jonathan_Moyo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jonathan Moyo</a> said the launch of his book, ‘Excelgate’, which was set for this Thursday, has been postponed.
Moyo said the launch, which was to be done by Sapes Books, has been moved to a future date following “ferret team” threats on Sapes Trust director <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ibbo_Mandaza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ibbo Mandaza</a>. Posting on microblogging site Twitter on Wednesday, Moyo said:

Moyo says Excelgate “reveals” how the ruling ZANU PF party and Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) officials connived to rig the 2018 harmonised elections in favour of the ruling party.
Moyo has been living in exile since November 2017 after he fled from the country during the military coup that ousted the late former president Robert Mugabe from power.
