Two people who are allegedly associated with a network that is using fake money to con businesspeople around the nation have been arrested by police in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Gweru">Gweru</a>.
Everson Kabura (38) of Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, and Chrispen Kutira (42) of Fourwinds, Bulawayo, were arrested while at an Apostolic shrine in Gweru’s Mtapa suburb. This resulted in the recovery of some fake money that was in their car.
Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said they were arrested after Kutira was involved in a scuffle with a female resident. The <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/police-bust-counterfeit-money-syndicate/">Chronicle</a> quotes Inspector Mahoko as saying:

On March 1, Kutira unlawfully entered a house on the pretext that he wanted to see the woman’s husband and suddenly indecently fondled her breasts. This did not go down well and the female victim threatened to call neighbors resulting in the suspect speeding off in a grey Ford Ranger.
Police received information that the vehicle had been seen parked near an Apostolic shrine near Matapa Roundabout. Acting on the information, the police swiftly reacted and raided and arrested the suspects.

Further investigations revealed that the two had defrauded a fuel attendant after they bought fuel using a fake US$100 note on 23 February in Gweru.
Police are calling upon members of the public who might have fallen victim to these suspects to report to ZRP Gweru Central Police Station so that all the cases may be cleared.

Fake Money Syndicate Arrested, Notes Recovered

A <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Army">Zimbabwe National Army</a> (ZNA) lance corporal and his four colleagues appeared in court last Friday after they were found with $1 800 in fake notes. The five appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Victoria Mashamba charged with possessing articles for criminal use.  They were remanded to October 19 on $50 bail each for trial.
The court heard that on September 28, detectives received information that the accused were in possession of counterfeit US dollars. It is alleged that Maendese, Kabinda and Mugugu were driving in a white Mitsubishi Gallant registration number ABG 7882. Detectives arrested the trio at <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Joina_City">Joina City</a> in <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare">Harare</a>. The trio was found in possession of 16 $100 notes which were stashed in a black diary on the driver’s door panel.
In the same diary, detectives also recovered a photocopy of Maendese’s payslip and proof of residence. The counterfeit notes were taken to <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Reserve_Bank_of_Zimbabwe">Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe</a> where it was confirmed that they were fake.After their arrest the trio implicated lance corporal, Gumbeze as part of their syndicate. With help of the trio, detectives arrested Gumbeze on the same day and found him in possession of a $100 counterfeit note leading to his arrest.
