President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said the State and the church are inseparable and the relationship dates back to the days of the struggle for independence from colonial rule.
Mnangagwa made the remarks at the centenary celebrations of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries founder, Archbishop Ezekiel Guti held at Glamis Arena in Harare on Sunday. He said:
<blockquote>
The partnership and synergy between the State and Church is inseparable and dates back to the days of our protracted armed liberation struggle.
At cottage 953 in Harare Highfields, ZAOGA was nurtured to ultimately occupy the space that was predominantly a preserve of missionaries from beyond our borders.
</blockquote>
Mnangagwa assured the church that under his Government, freedom of worship is guaranteed. He said:
<blockquote>
I want to assure the Church fraternity that under the Second Republic, freedom of worship is constitutionally guaranteed.
My Government will further facilitate an enabling environment for the Church to carry out the great commission and to win souls, heal the sick and proclaim the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. 
Equally orphans, widows, the disabled and the elderly must be taken care of.
Together, as the State and Church, let us also nurture a citizenry, especially the youth, who are patriotic, disciplined, morally upright and loyal to our country Zimbabwe.
It is commendable, that to date, the Church fraternity has remained a beacon of Ubuntu/Hunhu as well as accelerating social development.
Specifically, your ZAOGA churches, educational institutions and Bible schools are churning out graduates who are ably serving in our national institutions, across Government and in the private sector.

ZAOGA-FIF runs the Mbuya Dorcas Hospital, Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University, Ezekiel Television, and has Dress Making Training Centres as well as primary and secondary schools. Said Mnangagwa:
<blockquote>
These and other life-transforming projects you have undertaken as a Church are praiseworthy.
Accordingly, in 2021 my Government saw it befitting to honour and confer with Archbishop Baba Guti, with the Order of the Star of Zimbabwe.
</blockquote>
Archbishop Guti’s wife, Euna, expressed gratitude to Mnangagwa for attending the celebrations.

High Court judge Justice Webster Chinamora on Friday ordered the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) to stop discriminating against students intending to run for Students Executive Council (SEC) elections along religious lines.
The order by Justice Chinamora was made on a case where a student, Modester Zinhanga, was challenging her disqualification from contesting in the SEC elections because she is not a member of the ZAOGA church, which runs the institution.
Zinhanga approached the court after she was blocked from contesting in SEC elections that were scheduled for 12 November on the grounds that she was not a member of the church and could not speak in tongues.
In his ruling yesterady, Justice Chinamhora ruled that the discrimination by ZEGU was not justified in terms of the Constitution. He said:

It is not rational that ZEGU should purport to be a university that welcomes all students from all walks of life and faiths yet when it comes to representation in the SEC, it then restricts such to students from ZAOGA who speak in tongues.
He ordered ZEGU to allow all students with at least a semester of study to run for any position in the SEC.

Zinhanga was represented by Advocate Wilbert Mandinde, who was being instructed by Noble Chinhanu and Isheanesu Chirisa of the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.

High Court Rules Against ZAOGA University In "Tounges" Case

The Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) has published a dress code that bars women from wearing “inappropriate clothing” on campus which include skins tights, mini-skirts and see-through.
In a notice to all students, ZEGU Registrar, one I Chinyemba said lecturers can bar students from attending lectures if they are not dressed appropriately. The notice read:

Please be advised that the new 2021 Students Handbook was uploaded on student portals. Students are encouraged to take time to familiarise themselves with the rules and code of conduct in the 2021 Student Handbook. 
UNIVERSITY DRESS CODE
We want to remind all students that:
a. ZEGU encourages students to develop a lasting philosophy of good dressing and grooming.
b. Therefore, take care of the following principle: “Tight clothing (e.g., skin tights, leg-ins) cut offs/miniskirts (anything more than 5cm above the knees), shorts, slippers, tops that reveal breast cleavages, back-outs, crop-tops/stomach-outs, bandeau, see-through and other kinds of inappropriate clothing are not allowed on campus (especially classes and church services and other university-related off-campus functions”.
c. Lecturers can bar students from attending lectures if they are not dressed appropriately.
d. Select and wear clothing that gives dignity and an expression of our God-given ability to appreciate beauty, creativity, harmony, and good taste.
