The Tariffs above include 6% Rural Electrification Levy
In every calendar month, customers are allocated 50 units at a lifeline wilt rate of $0.52 costing $26. including levies. The next 150 kWh (51 to 200 kWh) in the same calendar month being charged at $1.14 cog 5172, including levies. 
The new tariff band consisting of 100 kWh, which stretches from 201 to 300 kWh, will, therefore, cost $312.00, including levies. Any additional purchase in excess of 300 kWh within the same calendar month will still be charged at a rate of $4.88/kWh, including levies.
In addition. the customer perception that power Is cheaper at the beginning of the month Is NOT CORRECT and was leading to very high transaction vol. units at the beginning of each month, resulting In the significant slowing down of the vending system. The 300 Units are enjoyed once a month when customers make the first Token purchase or units on ANY DAY during any calendar month, therefore it is NOT TRUE that electricity is cheaper when purchases are done within the first five days of the month. 
In response to the high month-end demand for prepaid tokens by customers. the power utility is in the process of upgrading the Electricity Token Vending system to ensure that it operates efficiently.
ZETDC introduced the domestic stepped tariff in August 2019 to encourage consumers to use electricity efficiently and to make power affordable to low consumption households, The stepped tat-IIIhas different prices for various consumption bands. Higher consumption attracts a higher tariff and customers are thus advised to buy electricity that is sufficient for their monthly needs. In order to assist customers. prepayment vouchers indicate how the units purchased are charged and the bands to which they belong. in compliance with the provisions as set by the Regulator.

FULL TEXT: ZESA Introduces Lower-Priced Tariff Band, Explains "Cheap Electricity" At The Beginning Of The Month "

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority, ZERA has announced that fuel prices have gone up. Diesel now costs $21.52 while Blend is charged at $21.77.
The new prices are taking effect today 5 April 2020.

FUEL Prices Go Up Effective Today

Motorists have commended the government over the “improved fuel supply” which has reportedly prevailed in the country during the festive season.
The fuel status was revealed by the snap survey that was conducted by the ZBC News in Harare. The publication reports that most service stations in Harare had short queues. One motorist who spoke to ZBC News had to say:
<blockquote>This is good, the queues are very short we urge the government to maintain this.</blockquote>
Zimbabwe has a huge fuel crisis which is attributed to the shortage of foreign currency which is needed to import fuel.
The fuel crisis also had a negative impact on the prices of commodities which have been going up whenever fuel prices are increased.

"We Urge The Govt To Maintain This," Motorists Comment On "Improved Fuel Supply"

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has licensed the 50 megawatts solar photovoltaic power plant at Westgate Suburbs in Bulawayo.
The project is being implemented by Parvalue Energy (Private) Limited who for 25 years have been authorised to supply electricity to any transmission, distribution or supply licensee who purchases electricity for resale and, with the approval of the ZERA, to any one or more consumers. Granting the 25-year-long license, ZERA said:
<blockquote>The generation licence is hereby granted to Parvalue Energy (Private) Limited . . . to own, operate and maintain the 50MW solar photovoltaic power plant called Donnington West Power plant at stand 3039, Donnington West, Westgate Suburb in Bulawayo,” said Zera.</blockquote>
The development comes when Zimbabwe is facing a huge power deficit which the local power utility, ZESA attributes to dwindling water levels at Kariba dam and ageing equipment at Hwange Power Station.
The power crisis is said to be one of the factors adversely affecting production in the country with inflation also closely associated with the crisis.
Alternatives such as the use of generators have proved to be unsustainable in both short term and long term periods since fuel is both expensive and scarce.

ZERA Licences Westgate 50MW Solar Project

The <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/11/20/energy-minister-hires-mugabes-brother-in-law-who-was-fired-from-zesa-in-2006/">re-appointment of Sydney Gata as Zesa Holdings’ executive chairperson</a>, the position he left in 2006 through forced retrenchment, has sparked public outcry with some questioning the logic behind the move.
One of those who expressed dissent to the decision is Law lecturer and political commentator Alex Magaisa who described the move as mind-blowing. Posting on microblogging site, Twitter, the former advisor to the late former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai said:
<blockquote>I understand Dr Sydney Gata has been appointed Executive Chairman of ZESA, the power utility. I’m failing to understand the wisdom of this decision. Gata was until 2006 the Executive Chairman of ZESA. He lost the job, fought ZESA &amp; lost. Now he’s back as top dog. Unbelievable!</blockquote>
Shingi Munyeza, a businessman and member of the Presidential Advisory Council also slammed the reappointment of the brother-in-law of the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe saying that it was not necessary. He tweeted:
<blockquote>I say no to the appointment of an executive chairman for any public company, worse still for a State-owned enterprise. I say no to the recycling of leadership for our State-owned Enterprises. Transformation means new, renewed and renewal.</blockquote>
