A 34-year-old man from Limpopo Province, South Africa, allegedly shot and killed his 29-year-old wife in the Free State before fleeing to Zimbabwe.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the suspect left his vehicle at a house in Campbell and allegedly crossed into Zimbabwe. Said Ledwaba (via <a href="https://www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/limpopo/limpopo-man-allegedly-fled-to-zimbabwe-after-the-brutal-murder-of-his-wife-544d99ef-da05-4454-b83f-af31b2ed171d">IOL</a>):

On January 20 2025, police in Musina received information from a tracking company about a white Ford Ranger with a Limpopo registration, which had been parked at a residence in Campbell.

Police reported that the vehicle’s owner had been missing since Friday, with a case registered at Moroka police station in Gauteng. Said Ledwaba:

Police rushed to the scene and found the vehicle at the residence. The owner (of the house) explained that he had kept the bakkie in his yard with permission from the male owner, who had borrowed a large amount of cash and indicated he intended to cross the border to Zimbabwe for spiritual assistance due to issues at his workplace.

Police investigations revealed that the vehicle’s owner was with a man when he dropped off the Ford Ranger on January 17 at around 10 PM.
During their preliminary investigations, police found bloodstains inside the vehicle, two empty rifle cartridges, three empty 9mm pistol cartridges, one fragment of 9mm ammunition, six live 9mm rounds, two black 9mm pistol magazines (one with 15 rounds and one empty), and a pair of black gloves.
A 24-year-old suspect, believed to be involved in the incident, was arrested early Wednesday at his residence in Tshamutumbu.
He was found with two firearms, including a hunting rifle with ammunition, after an intelligence-driven operation by police in Musina.
At the time, the vehicle’s owner and his wife, originally from Mutale in Limpopo, were still missing.
Further investigation led to the discovery of the 29-year-old woman’s body, with multiple gunshot wounds, on Wednesday night, in bushes along the N1 in Kromdraai, Free State. Said Ledwaba:

Preliminary investigation revealed that the husband, who was supposed to be travelling with the deceased, passed the Verkeerdeveli toll gate alone in the same bakkie on January 17. It was at the turn-off in Kromdraai where the woman’s body was discovered.

The provincial police commissioner in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the “senseless shooting” that resulted in the woman’s death.
The South African Police Service is searching for the deceased woman’s husband, Dakalo Nemangwele, 34, who they believe can assist in the murder investigation.

South African Man Allegedly Fled To Zimbabwe After The Brutal Murder Of His Wife

Bridget Makaza, who is accused of fatally shooting her husband, MacCloud Zvavaviri Mapanga, the owner of Kurai Coaches, in May 2018 at their home in Strathaven, Harare, has surrendered to the police after more than five years of being at large, reported <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/kurai-coaches-owners-killer-stops-running-hands-self-over-to-police/">The Herald</a>.
Makaza allegedly shot her husband after accusing him of marrying a third wife. At the time, she was 34 years old and living at 56 Kenworth, Coventry in the UK. 
Following her initial arrest, she appeared before Harare Magistrate Nyasha Vhitorini on a murder charge.
After being granted bail, she disappeared, prompting a police search. On Monday, she voluntarily surrendered to the CID Homicide in Harare and is expected to appear in court soon.

Woman Accused Of Killing Kurai Coaches Owner Surrenders To Police

The trial of Peter Dube, a former fugitive businessman accused of double murder and attempted murder, has been delayed once again at the Gweru High Court due to signs of mental instability exhibited by Dube for the second time.
According to the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/peter-dubes-high-profile-murder-trial-delayed-again-as-mental-health-concerns-and-conflicting-medical-reports/">Chronicle</a>, Dube, who was a car dealer at the time of the alleged offences, made incoherent statements and whistled during the proceedings. As a result, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi was unable to proceed with the trial.
Conflicting reports from two medical doctors who examined Dube were revealed; one confirmed he had a mental disorder, while the other declared him mentally fit to stand trial.
Furthermore, the High Court has issued warrants for the arrest of two witnesses, including the chief witness and Dube’s second wife, Nyasha Nharingo, amid reports that they have fled the country after expressing their disinterest in testifying.
Nharingo, who survived a bullet that passed through her mouth and exited through her jaw, was central to the fatal shooting incident.
Justice Mutevedzi adjourned the session after Dube abruptly stripped half-naked and made unfounded accusations against the gallery, blaming them for the collapse of his business.
Dube’s lawyer, Constance Madzudzi, said there were conflicting reports from doctors tasked with examining her client’s mental well-being. She said:

On the other hand, the State has issued a warrant of arrest for two witnesses, including Nyasha Nharingo, and from what I gathered, they have indicated that they are no longer interested in testifying, so the case is complicated now.

Madzudzi said that the matter would be brought back to the High Court when the witnesses were available.
Dube had been on the run for almost three years after allegedly shot dead his second wife’s suspected lover, Shelton Chiduku of Kwekwe, along with the wife’s best friend, Gamuchirai Mudungwe.
He then allegedly turned the gun on his wife, Nyasha, and her sister, Nyaradzo, but the two survived the shooting.
In his warned and cautioned statement, Dube denied all the allegations in total.
Prosecutor Samuel Pedzisayi alleged on April 22, 2021, at around 11 AM, Chiduku, Mudungwe, Nyasha, and Nyaradzo allegedly went to Masvingo to collect the latter’s passport.
Dube, suspecting infidelity between Nyasha and Chiduku, was displeased when he learned that the four had gone to Masvingo without his knowledge.
At around 8 PM on the same day, the accused allegedly armed himself with a Zastava pistol and proceeded to number 11, Bensam Flats, Main Street, Gweru where Nyasha resided.
There was an altercation at the flats since Dube suspected Nyasha of having an affair with Chiduku. Dube went downstairs and shot Chiduku, who was in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Hiace, once on the front left shoulder and he died instantly.
It is further alleged that Mudungwe, who was downstairs with Chiduku, tried to run up the stairs, but Dube shot her once on the left cheek and she died on the spot.
After allegedly killing Chiduku and Mudungwe, Dube went upstairs to where Nyasha and Nyaradzo were.
The court heard that Dube allegedly shot Nyasha once on the right cheek and the bullet protruded to the left side of her neck, removed her right molar tooth and landed on the upper side of her shoulder.
After shooting Nyasha, Dube allegedly turned on Nyaradzo, shooting her once above the left ear, and the bullet protruded through and raptured her right eye.
Nyasha and Nyaradzo survived the shooting and were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital where surgeons successfully operated on them.
After the incident, Dube allegedly fled to South Africa, before going to Eswatini where he fraudulently acquired an identity document and passport.
While in Eswatini, Peter Dube changed his identity and assumed the name Xolile Mtsali.
It is alleged that Dube later flew to Ireland where he was arrested in Dublin in 2023 for violating that country’s immigration laws.
Dube was allegedly using a fake identity when he was arrested in Dublin.
He refused to be deported to Zimbabwe claiming that he was a Mozambican citizen named Armando Quenete Muchanga.
Dube was then deported to Mozambique and authorities there established that he was Zimbabwean and deported him on Wednesday, April 03.

Trial Of Accused Double Murderer Peter Dube Delayed Again

Rwandan fugitive Ukiliho Kayishema Fulgence has been captured in South Africa.
Kayishema, who was one of four remaining fugitives from the 1994 Rwandan genocide, was arrested in South Africa on Wednesday.
He is expected to face trial in Rwanda.
<a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-65709893">BBC</a> reported that the former police inspector, who was born in 1961, was charged in 2001 over the killing of more than 2 000 Tutsi men, women and children inside a Catholic church where they had sought refuge.
According to the indictment by UN prosecutors, Kayishema directly participated in the planning and execution of a massacre of refugees hiding at the Nyange church in Kivumu, Kibuye prefecture, on 15 April 1994.
Kayishema, born in 1961, and others allegedly tried to burn the church down with the refugees inside.
When this failed, they bulldozed it, burying and killing all those hiding there.
The corpses of the victims were then buried in mass graves.
The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), which is based in The Hague, welcomed Kayishema’s arrest.
Kayishema was arrested by a South African elite police unit at a grape farm in Paarl, in Western Cape province.
He had been living under the false name of Donatien Nibashumba.
Kayishema made a first appearance in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Friday.
The charges of genocide, conspiracy to commit genocide and crimes against humanity have been brought against him.
South African NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, outside court said Kayishema also faces a charge of fraud. <a href="https://ewn.co.za/0001/01/01/more-charges-to-be-brought-against-rwandan-fugitive-fulgence">He said:</a>

In January 2000, when he applied for asylum, he gave the wrong name indicating that he was from Burundi and then the one relating to the second charge of fraud, it’s when he was applying for refugee status in 2004 and he used the same names and claimed that he’s from Burundi.

Some 800 000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed in the Rwandan genocide.
