Kudakwashe Choga who escaped arrest last month following a shoot-out with a police crack team in Harare’s Highfield suburb has been arrested in Chitungwiza.
The wanted suspected armed robber is believed to have been part of a group of criminals operating from South Africa.
During last month’s shoot-out, Choga managed to flee after sustaining injuries but the police continued looking for him until his subsequent arrest in St Marys, Chitungwiza where he was hiding at his girlfriend’s house.
The girlfriend, Esther Kambande (24) and Choga’s nephew, Ashton Chikurune of Manyame Park, Chitungwiza have also been arrested for harbouring a criminal and assisting Choga with medication.
According to police Kambande had been treating the gunshot wounds on Choga who was shot on the thigh and scrotum during the shoot-out. 
Chikurune was also alleged to have been harbouring Choga’s accomplices who have since been arrested and are currently in remand prison.
Sources close to the investigations told The Herald that investigations were still in progress.
Choga’s other accomplice, Abel Marufu Mukandawire (40) from Chitungwiza, recently appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Shane Kubonera charged with robbery, rape and aggravated indecent assault.
Mukandawire allegedly raped one of the victims, forced her mother to perform oral sex on him, before defecating in a bucket of maize meal during a robbery in 2019.
Choga and Mukandawire are alleged to have been one of the seven people, other being Francis Hazangure, Blessing Gamanya, Edmore Marwizi Mapuranga and Roy Mutemagazi, who robbed the family of a Mercedes Benz into which they loaded property they had stolen.
They stole cellphones, US$4 110, $700 and other household property which they loaded into the family’s car and drove off.

Highfield Shoot Out: Wanted Robber, Girlfriend And Nephew Arrested

Harare City Council on Wednesday extended the demolition of informal sector structures to Highfields high-density suburb in Harare.
The City Fathers have taken advantage of the extended lockdown to destroy vending stalls and other roadside structures erected by informal traders who do not pay rentals to the local authority.
The ongoing operation is akin to “Operation Murambatsvina”, a large-scale slum clearance operation undertaken by the government in 2005.

Warriors Striker Tino Kadewere has been commended for organising the Onias Kadewere Soccer Tournament.
The tournament is held in honour of Kadewere’s late father who died in 2015. The third edition of the tournament was held at Takashinga Sports Club in Highfield last weekend.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) board member (marketing), Sugar Chagonda, said
<blockquote>As Zifa we really appreciate the effort being put by the Kadewere family in as far as the development of grassroots football is concerned.
I think it will be a miscarriage of social justice not to mention the name Kadewere when the development of football is being discussed.
We want to applaud the Kadewere family for what they are doing. This is exactly in line with what the new Zifa board wants to achieve is as far as the development of football is concerned. Our president has made it a priority to resurrect the junior development.
We encourage what they are doing and as Zifa we want to work with all critical stakeholders to develop our game. We want to do more with junior development; we want to put more resources towards the development of junior football.
As Zifa we endorse such initiatives and we want to assure our support. We cannot think of a better future without junior development.
What the Kadeweres are doing is a clear demonstration of what we can achieve if grassroots development is done properly.
We therefore encourage the corporate world to come on board.
We need synergies between corporates and football administration. Kadewere (Tino) is a product of junior football and further evidence of what can be achieved if grassroots football is followed.</blockquote>

ZIFA Praises Kadewere For Organising A Football Tournament In Highfield

Zanu-PF candidate for Highfield East national assembly seat, Mike Taka Mashonganyika has promised to install wifi hotspots to provide internet for the people of his constituency. Mashonganyika also promised to pay for the internet. Said Mashonganyika,

Zanu-PF Candidate Promises Free Wifi For Constituency

Zanu-PF MP for Highfield West, Psychology Maziwisa is set to lose his Highfield residential stand after Harare City Councillors resolved to withdraw the stand. The stand had been previously offered to Maziwisa until the councillors discovered that the stand was located on top of sewer pipes. Maziwisa offered to fund the cost of diverting the sewer pipes but the proposal was rejected by the councillors.
<blockquote>We have workers who are heartless here. They misled the MP. Just because he is an MP and they pretend to love him but in actual fact, they were doing injustice to him. The area they want to give him is not meant for that. We need to stand up as city fathers and do more than politics. We need to protect our infrastructure</blockquote>
Mazivisa paid $12 650 for the land and offered to pay $3 915 for diverting the sewer pipes. The stand is reported to be located in the vicinity of former president Robert Mugabe’s Highfield home.
Maziwisa is infamous for stating that Zanu-PF had delivered on its 2013 promise to create 2.2 million jobs. Maziwisa claimed that the ruling party had created many jobs in the informal sector and gave the example of someone being given a job to do laundry. You can watch the video below:
