Sharon Chigwaza, a 33-year-old Zimbabwean beautician, was sentenced to 22 years of rigorous imprisonment in India on Wednesday under two sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
As reported by <a href="https://www.onmanorama.com/news/kerala/2025/01/29/kochi-airport-heroin-smuggling-case-zimbabwe.html">onmanorama</a>, Chigwaza was arrested at Kochi airport in June 2021 after being caught with 2,910 grams of heroin.
Ernakulam Additional Sessions Judge VPM Sureshbabu also imposed a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh for each of the two charges under Section 21(c) and Section 23(c) of the NDPS Act, relating to the carrying and smuggling of the narcotic drug into India.
If the fine is not paid, she will face an additional six months in prison for each charge.
Chigwaza claimed she was merely a carrier who agreed to smuggle the drugs in exchange for money to fund her treatment in Delhi.
However, the court did not consider her reasons for committing the crime, according to Special Public Prosecutor for the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Adv Sunil J.
He said five grams of heroin is a small quantity, and 250 gm is a commercial quantity, adding that “Chigwaza was caught with nearly 12 times the commercial quantity”.
Under Indian law, the minimum punishment for carrying and smuggling commercial quantities of heroin is 10 years, with a maximum of 20 years.
The court took into account her poor background and gender, sentencing her to 11 years for each offence. Said Adv Sunil:

The sentences will run concurrently, so she will serve only 11 years in prison.

According to her statement to investigators, Chigwaza had been living as a refugee in South Africa with her parents and two sisters.
However, officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) determined that her refugee certificate was fraudulent.
On June 19, 2021, Chigwaza arrived at Kochi airport from Johannesburg via Doha on a Qatar Airways flight.
While preparing to board an onward IndiGo flight to Delhi, airport security became suspicious and detained her.
They discovered 2,910 grams of heroin hidden in a secret pocket of her trolley bag. She was subsequently arrested, and the case was transferred to the NCB.
During questioning, Chigwaza claimed that she had experienced multiple miscarriages and needed money for treatment in Delhi.
She further claimed that a Nigerian friend, Ifeanyi, had offered her US$2,000 (approximately ₹1.47 lakh in June 2021) to deliver the drugs to a lodge in Delhi.
He assured her that his brother would pick up the package and provide her with the money. This was her first trip to India.
Special Public Prosecutor Adv. Sunil said the court’s sentencing underscored the message that “regardless of nationality or circumstances, drug trafficking is a crime against the nation and will be punished.”
The court also said that the three years and seven months Chigwaza spent in prison before her conviction would be deducted from her sentence.

The headmaster of Chibaya Primary School and former chairman of the St. Joseph Guild of the Roman Catholic Church, Misheck Chenjerai, is stranded in India due to a financial shortfall following a successful open-heart operation.
The hospital has said that it will not release Chenjerai until the shortfall is cleared. Delays in paying the bill will increase the shortfall, as hospital accommodation costs US$200 per day.
According to <a href="https://masvingomirror.com/school-head-stuck-in-india-after-successful-heart-surgery/">The Mirror</a>, a US$7,000 shortfall arose after doctors performing the operation discovered additional problems that required attention.
This also meant that Chenjerai had to stay in the hospital longer than initially planned.
Peter Mazuru, a representative of Friends of Misheck, said that a deposit of US$4,000 was made into the account on Tuesday, December 17, reducing the shortfall to US$3,000.
Mazuru appealed for donations from well-wishers, noting that delays in clearing the shortfall would further increase the bill. He thanked members of the church and the public for their generous contributions.
Chenjerai underwent open-heart surgery after being diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening rheumatic heart disease. He was also diagnosed with a kidney ailment. Said Mazuru:

Zimbabwean Headmaster Stranded In India After Successful Heart Surgery

A Zimbabwean national, Washington Takura Muzweir, was arrested on Wednesday in Vadodara City, India, for allegedly assaulting a man and forcibly transferring money from the complainant’s bank account.
He is also accused of slapping a police constable who intervened in the matter.
As reported by <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/ahmedabad/zimbabwe-man-held-for-assaulting-man-9670745/">India Express</a>, Muzweir is a student at a university in Waghodia. The victim, Rameshkumar Nandlal Agarwal, is a construction site manager responsible for managing the property Muzweir had rented in India and was looking to vacate.
Muzweir allegedly assaulted Agarwal over a dispute regarding the return of the security deposit for the rented flat.
When Agarwal intervened in a heated argument between Muzweir and the mother of the flat owner, Muzweir allegedly attacked him and forcefully transferred Rs 14,000 from Agarwal’s bank account into his own.
When the police arrived, Muzweir reportedly attacked two constables who were trying to control the situation.
Muzweir has been booked under two separate FIRs for assault, forced money transfer, and attacking police officers. Agarwal said:

At his rallies, Modi referred to Muslims as “infiltrators” and claimed the main opposition Congress party would redistribute the nation’s wealth to Muslims if it won.
However, the strategy failed to woo Hindu voters, while also solidifying minority communities’ support for the opposition.
Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay, the author of a Modi biography, told the AFP news agency many voters were concerned with India’s chronic unemployment problem rather than its ideological stance. Said Mukhopadhyay:

A member of an alleged former Indian Special Forces Unit residing in Zimbabwe, Sudhu Sarup Singh has been arrested by Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives, reported <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/cio-arrests-indian-special-forces-top-gun-in-dramatic-fashion/">NewZimbabwe.com</a>.
Singh was arrested following a sting raid at a high-end Harare restaurant where he was enjoying the company of unknown individuals.
The Unit had been engaged in Mozambique’s war-torn Cabo Delgado region, where that country’s government is fighting Islamist insurgents.
Singh reportedly misrepresented his intentions on arrival by disguising himself as an investor, even meeting President Emmerson Mnangagwa, but later went on to conduct shadowy businesses.
NewZimbabwe.com reported sources within the CIO as saying Singh was being held at Borrowdale Police with indications he might either be charged for a crime or if lucky, be deported.
His daughter (named) is one of over 100 Indians he smuggled into the country. She is also on the CIO’s radar and set to be arrested and deported. Said a source:

CIO Arrests Alleged Former Indian Army Special Forces Officer

Suspected former Indian army Special Forces who have been operating in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique have reportedly settled in Zimbabwe after posing as “investors” in different sectors of the economy.
Cabo Delgado is in northern Mozambique where that country’s military is battling Islamist insurgents.
According to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200023962/ex-indian-soldiers-in-murky-deals">NewsDay</a>, the Office of the President and the country’s immigration department have since launched a crackdown on the Indian military unit resulting in the deportation of hundreds of Indians who had entered the country without proper documents.
The special adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Jorum Gumbo, confirmed to NewsDay that he facilitated a meeting between the Indians and the President. He said:

Yes, the Indians saw the President. My role was just to facilitate, I act as a secretary to the President.
These guys said they wanted to invest in a brewery, whatever they did after that I wouldn’t know.
</blockquote>
One of the ex-army men, Sudhu Sarup Singh, was reportedly given a temporary permit in July last year.
On the permit, Singh was recorded as an employee at NV Mining in Zimbabwe.
Indian embassy attaché consular Rajin Kapoo refused to comment on the matter saying the ambassador was in India.
The Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) has reportedly seized two top-of-the-range vehicles the former Indian soldiers were using.
The vehicles are a white Toyota Fortuner GD-6 (AGA 2524) and a grey Ford Ranger (AGE 2419) with “Indian Army, Special Forces” pasted on their backs.
The Toyota Fortuner GD-6 has “We Dare The Impossible” inscribed on the top of its back panel, while the Ford Ranger has a sticker written “We Are The Fearless”.
NewsDay reported CIO sources as saying the country’s intelligence unit was investigating how the vehicles were brought into the country.
When they came to Zimbabwe, the former Indian soldiers reportedly approached the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) seeking approval to set up an ethanol plant.
A source who reportedly shared details and supporting documents of the Indians’ enterprise said:

These individuals made their way into the country after their efforts at ending unrest in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, failed.
They got approval, but soon after proceeded to start seeking financial assistance from the government to set it up, to which (RBZ governor John) Mangudya said no.
They are now into gold mining, are looking at lithium and go around in branded vehicles which indicates that they are, indeed, members of the Indian Army’s Special Forces.
Even the CIO is investigating these guys as there seems to be no link between them and any other Zimbabwean authority besides (the named former minister).
Their operation here makes it seem like Zimbabwe has become a Wild-Wild West, where all rogue characters can still come, do what they want, make a living and leave.

Former Indian Army Special Forces Unit Spotted In Zimbabwe

An Indian court on Wednesday, 21 February sentenced a 40-year-old Zimbabwean woman to 10 years of imprisonment for having 8.5kg of methamphetamine and heroin in 2022.
The special NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act court also imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh (US$200 000) on the accused Rosie Diamon.
As reported by the <a href="https://www.hindustantimes.com/cities/mumbai-news/zimbabwean-woman-gets-10-years-in-jail-for-carrying-8-5kg-of-heroin-101708541481489.html">Hindustan Times</a>, Diamon was arrested on 13 February 2022, after the Air Intelligence Unit had received information the previous day, that a passenger would be arriving with narcotics substances.
Acting on the received information, unit officers kept a watch on the passengers. They recognised Diamon through her passport and noticed she was carrying a trolley bag and a handbag.
The officers checked her trolley bag and it was found that the files and folders in the bag contained 8.486 kg of yellowish-coloured powder granules and white crystals. In convicting Diamon, special judge AV Kharkar noted:

On going through the evidence in its entirety, it precipitates that the accused was found in possession of a commercial quantity of contraband methamphetamine and heroin. The evidence of the prosecution witness is trustworthy and reliable.
</blockquote>
In her written argument, Diamon said her cousin was part of a gang from Zimbabwe and that he had lured her for money, handing over a bag which she was asked to carry to India, in which the contraband was found.
She pleaded for leniency saying she was unaware of the bag’s contents and belonged to a poor family with her children dependent on her.
The court noted that the accused had neither denied that the contraband was recovered from the bag nor that the bag from which the contraband was recovered was in her possession. The court said:

Rather, in her written arguments, she has submitted that the bag was handed over to her by her cousin, who is involved with a gang.
In such a case the court will have to presume that the accused was carrying the contraband and that her possession was conscious.
</blockquote>
In April 2018, another Zimbabwean woman, Betty Rame (38), was arrested by a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team at the IGI Airport with two concealed bags full of a crystalline substance, which tested positive for Methamphetamine.
In August 2021, Rame was convicted and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment with a ₹1 lakh fine under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
However, in June 2023, the Delhi High Court suspended the sentence, noting that there was an alleged non-compliance with the procedure for sampling the seized substance and that the accused had already undergone over four years in custody.
Justice Anish Dayal said the standing orders issued by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Ministry of Finance ought to be respected by investigating agencies.
Dayal said the lack of compliance with these standing orders imports an element of reasonable doubt, which would also impact the issue of proving the guilt of the accused.
Rame’s lawyers had argued that the NCB did not collect the sample as per norms.
They said the contraband was admittedly seized from two separate bags and that the bags were subsequently mixed.
The lawyers also contended that as per the standing order, the contents of the bags should not have been mixed to avoid the substance “losing its identity”.

Sixteen-year-old Daphine Unah Jairos has returned home after undergoing successful heart surgery in India. Daphine had a severe heart problem that affected her breathing due to the closure of her valves. She previously received treatment in India in 2016, but the condition resurfaced recently, leading her to travel back to India on January 22 for the operation.
The National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe (NOIC) and the Rotary Club of Chitungwiza funded Daphine’s trip and medical expenses. Upon her arrival at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, NOIC commercial director Ms. Christine Chikwaiti expressed joy, stating that Daphine was part of the group they sponsored in 2016 for treatment in India. She explained that when Daphine approached them this year seeking sponsorship for valve correction, they gladly supported her journey for extensive heart surgery. She said:

We are elated today to receive Daphine Jairos, who was part of the 2016 group that we sponsored to travel to India to get treatment.

According to a <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/live-bullet-in-zimbabwean-pupils-bag-says-its-planted/articleshow/103150262.cms">Times of India report</a>, Zimbabwean national, Progress Marumbwa (20), who is in the country on a student visa, to pursue studies in Punjab, claimed that the bullet had been planted in her bag.
She is now facing charges under sections of the Arms Act.
Marumbwa, who was to join a bachelor’s degree course in “medical laboratory science”, reportedly arrived in Mumbai around 5 AM and was to take a flight to Delhi and then proceed to Ludhiana.
She told the police that her classes were to commence on Monday.
During the airport security check, a junior security officer Dhiraj Shirole, spotted the bullet while screening her bag.
He pointed out the matter to the senior security officer, Nilesh Gaikwad and a physical check of the bag led to the live bullet.
Murambwa’s lawyer, Prabhakar Tripathi, said she was sent to police custody for a day.
The lawyer told the court that the bullet was found in the upper pocket of the bag and said she was unaware of how it landed there. He said:

During the XV BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the BRICS bloc, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has made the decision to extend invitations to six countries to join the bloc as new members. These countries are Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This expansion of the BRICS organization is part of its strategic plan for growth.
At the summit, the BRICS leaders adopted the Johannesburg II Declaration, which outlines their shared vision and commitments. Effective January 2024, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have been formally admitted as members of the BRICS bloc.
The topic of expanding the BRICS bloc has been a prominent issue on the summit’s agenda, with discussions held over the course of the three-day event in Johannesburg. While all BRICS members have expressed public support for the expansion, differences among the leaders have arisen regarding the extent and pace of the enlargement process.
In June of this year, President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced that Zimbabwe had submitted a request to join the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) and anticipated receiving support from Russia. The President made this statement during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, Russia, as part of his attendance at the second Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum. The NDB, established in 2015 by the BRICS countries serves as a multilateral financial institution aimed at financing infrastructure and sustainable development projects in BRICS nations, as well as other emerging market economies and developing countries.
This is happening when Zimbabwe’s access to credit has significantly reduced in the past twenty years, leaving the country with limited financial flexibility. International financial institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank, which are part of the Breton Woods institutions, halted lending to Zimbabwe in the early 2000s due to its substantial debt. BRICS Add 6 More Countries To The Bloc

A former Zimbabwean drug mule who spent two years in an Indian jail says an appetite for fast money and a life of luxury lure women into the drug mule trade.
Cynthia Mpunga (42) told News24’s Lenin Ndebele that she hid her drug mule operations from close family members, including her husband.
Mpunga was arrested at Cochin International Airport in the city of Kochi in India in 2015 after security officials found ephedrine that had a street value of about US$ 1.4 million in her luggage.
Even though it is an over-the-counter drug in some countries, it’s illegal in India.
She said she would have received US$450 for delivering the drug, besides accommodation, flights, food and other benefits. She said:

My family back home was worried. They thought I was held in a dungeon where, probably, there was no one I could speak to in English [while] living in a confined cell. All the scary things you can imagine were on their minds.
Two years was like a death sentence for me, but when I got into prison, I saw life differently.
I took up jobs while inside. I used to clean, and with basic sewing experience, I also did some work with fabrics.
Like other prisoners doing jobs, I earned a decent stipend. That money was deposited into our accounts monthly.
One could withdraw and buy whatever one desired to use after jail time.
</blockquote>
She said while in prison, all she could think of was her daughter, who was only two years old when she was arrested.
Mpunga said she was drawn into the industry by a South African woman who she didn’t want to name for security reasons. 
She said the idea of travelling the world and earning money that even some professionals don’t earn was attractive.
Mpunga said she had been to India five times in the space of three months before, and that aroused suspicions.
Her arrest in India was was the second time she had to be detained for a drug offence in the same year.
Earlier in 2015, Mpunga was arrested in Botswana at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport on arrival in Gaborone from India, via Kenya.
She had 20kg of an illicit substance and spent two months in jail in Botswana and later paid a P10 000 fine for her to be released.

Zimbabwean Ex-drug Mule Recalls Her Time In An Indian Prison

In a shocking incident that occurred in a city called Beed, in the central region of Maharashtra state in India, a minor married woman was raped by more than 400 people in six months after she was promised a job.
The victim is now two months pregnant following the incident and the Child Welfare Committee is in the process of aborting the baby.
A case has been registered against nine persons in Ambajogai rural police on the complaint of the victim and four accused have been arrested by the police.
The victim’s mother died two years ago and her father arranged a marriage for her.
The victim then went to stay at her in-laws’ place for one-and-a-half years after she got married.
However, due to repeated harassment by her father-in-law, the girl returned to her family.
A few days after returning to her mother’s place, the girl reached Ambejogai town in search of a job where she met two people from the academy.
The men allegedly raped her, by promising to give her a job. For the next six months, she was repeatedly raped by more than 400 different people.
Following the abuse, the victim said is now 20 weeks pregnant in her reply to the Child Welfare Committee.
She said she had lodged a rape complaint at Ambejogai city police but the police did not take any action.
Instead, the victim said in her reply that the police on duty at that time took her to the lodge and raped her.
The incident of rape by the police itself has created a stir. Beed District Superintendent of Police R Raja has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Indian Minor Raped By 400 Men In Six Months

A vehicle parked in a residential complex in Mumbai, India vanished within seconds, after the ground opened up beneath it.
A video recorded by an onlooker shows the front of the vehicle sinking into a hole filled with water.
The car then goes straight down into the sinkhole, with the pool of water completely consuming it.
There were several other vehicles in the parking, some a few metres away from the sinking car, and all remained completely unharmed.
Reports indicate that the car lot was previously a well that had been covered over with concrete.
It’s believed that torrential rain caused the surface to break apart, creating the vehicle-consuming sinkhole.
No one was inside the car at the time of the incident, and no injuries to onlookers were reported.

A bride dropped dead at her own wedding in India prompting her sister to then marry the groom at the same ceremony when the families decided to carry on with the festivities.
The bride, named Surbhi, suffered a heart attack at the ceremony in Etawah city, Uttar Pradesh, after exchanging ornaments with husband-to-be Manjesh Kumar as part of Hindu wedding tradition.
A doctor from the local village was called to the scene but was unable to save her.
The families of both parties agreed to continue with the wedding ceremony by replacing the bride with her sister, Nisha.
Surbhi’s body was kept in a separate room while the festivities took place and she was later cremated.
One of Surbhi’s uncles, Ajab Singh, told MailOnline it was a ‘tough call’ for the family to carry on with the wedding. In separate comments to news agency IANS, Surbhi’s brother Saurabh added:

KWEKWE CITY COVID-19 OUTBREAK PRELIMINARY REPORT
Executive summary
The outbreak report of covid-19 in Kwekwe City started on the 12th of May 2021 following the death of Robson Kadenhe (76/M) of 22 Old Gokwe Road, Chicago Plots.
Mr Kadenhe, his wife (Mary Kadenhe) and nephew (Nataly Kadenhe, 21/F) who returned from India on 29th April were antigen (Ag) tested on 9 May 2021 at their plot by Dr Tavashure.
Mr Kadenhe and his wife tested positive and Nataly tested negative. Mr Kadenhe died on 12 May 2021.
Background
<ul>
<li>Mr Kadenhe fell sick on 8 May 2021 and exhibited symptoms such as fever, chills, dry cough and diarrhoea.</li>
<li>Mr Kadenhe was a known hypertensive on treatment and had high RBS levels
above 33 at the time that he was first seen by his doctor on the 9th of May though he was not a known diabetic</li>
<li>His condition is reported to have deteriorated on the 12th of May and as
arrangements were being made to send him for ICU care he died in an ambulance on arrival at Kwekwe hospital</li>

<li>A total of 9 contacts of the three cases were tested on 13 May at Al Davis Clinic and 6 tested positive.</li>

Contact tracing
<ul>
<li>Contact tracing for the index cases was carried out on 13 May 2021.</li>
<li>4 contacts of the Kadenhes who stay at the plot and had no symptoms were Ag tested at Al Davis Clinic and one (20/M) tested positive.</li>
<li>Also, follow up to Zvichauya Midzi was done on 13 May 2021 and a total of 5 contacts exhibiting symptoms such as cough and fever were tested and all tested positive.</li>
<li>Five (5) contacts of Midzi who include 3 minors aged between 4 and 12 enrolled at Goldridge Primary School tested positive.</li>
<li>Four teachers from the school were tested at Al Davis Clinic and they all tested negative. Body handling and funeral</li>
<li>Mr Robson Kadenhe’s body is currently being kept since the 12th of May 2012 at Nyaradzo Funeral Services in Redcliff and they were notified of the cause of his death.</li>
<li>The relatives of the deceased were advised to bury the body within the possibly shortest period of 48 hours but they said they intend to bury him on Saturday at Kwekwe Central Cemetery and are waiting for his children who are outside the country.</li>
<li>Redcliff Municipality Health Department has been asked to liaise with the funeral parlour to expedite his burial.</li>
<li>The family was also asked to ensure that there is zero attendance at the funeral wake of the deceased and the District Development Coordinator has been asked to mobilise the assistance of ZRP to prevent people from
gathering at the homestead and this had been effected.</li>

Health Education and disinfection

<li>Both families were health educated on the disease picture, personal and environmental hygiene and the need to strictly observe all covid prevention measures.</li>
<li>Fumigation with hydrogen peroxide was done at the Kadenhe homestead</li>
<li>Home isolation</li>
<li>Both homesteads are suitable for effective home isolation with ZRP enforcing at the Kadenhe homestead</li>

Kwekwe COVID-19 Outbreak Preliminary Report {Full Text}

A Kwekwe businessman who tested positive for the novel coronavirus after returning from India has died.
Robson Kadenhe (76) and his wife, Mary of 22 Old Gokwe Road, Chicago Plots, Kwekwe returned from India on 29 April and both tested positive for COVID-19 on 9 May.
The couple’s niece, Nataly, who travelled with them from India, however, tested negative.
Kadenhe died on 12 May. He was a known hypertensive on treatment and had high RBS levels above 33 at the time he was first seen by his doctor on 9 of May.
Kadenhe was the Kwekwe Residents chairperson and a prominent businessman in the city.
As a result, Kwekwe City Council has recommended restrictions on public gatherings in the city to curb the spread of the virus. A report of preliminary recommendations by the city read:

All returnees and foreigners need to be tested for Covid-19 and quarantined.

Returnee From India Succumbs To COVID-19

Rtd Assistant Commissioner Richard Mbanga’s funeral has been postponed to 7 September due to logistical issues, The Zimbabwean reports. According to the publication, the funeral was postponed because the charter flight that was supposed to bring in his body from India was cancelled at the last minute. The flight will now leave on 5 September according to the publication.

Richard Mbanga’s Funeral Postponed To 7 September

21 specialist Indian surgeons who visited Zimbabwe under the Zim-India Medical Mission (Vocational Training Team), last week have been applauded by people who were successfully operated on for free.
The free surgeries were conducted at <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mutare_Provincial_Hospital" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mutare Provincial Hospital</a> and St Joseph’s Mission Hospital, with Sekuru Jackson Muhone (78) of Sakubva, who had been suffering from prostate cancer, being one of the beneficiaries. He said:
<blockquote>I had no money for medication. I had no means to raise funds for surgery. I had lost hope. This is a miracle.
I am extremely grateful. I lost friends and relatives to this condition. They could not get medical recourse because they could not afford it.
My fear was that I was going to die. The lump was so painful and I could not do anything about it. This mission has rescued me.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, over 700 patients suffering from different ailments had been assisted by Tuesday.
A further 1 300 patients were expected to be assisted by Friday when the mission was scheduled to end at Mutare Provincial Hospital and St Joseph’s Mission Hospital.

Indian Doctors' Mission Assist 2 000 Zimbabweans For Free

Opposition MDC officials have been told to stop going to the United States of America and the United Kingdom, and rather sit down to negotiate with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, India’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Rungsung Masakui said that the MDC should stop questioning Mnangagwa’s legitimacy. He is quoted as saying:
<blockquote>This is not in the spirit of democracy. You can criticise the policies of a government — that’s a political right — but if you keep questioning the legitimacy, that is unthinkable. Political rivalry is not enmity.
The President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) is making efforts to create dialogue platforms with the opposition parties; it’s a way forward. But it is difficult for the dialogue to succeed if the main opposition party is not part of it.
Space is there for them to join in – the President even formally recognised the office of the opposition party leader . . . that is what is happening the world over.
Political parties all over the world have differences, but when it comes to fundamental issues of nation-building, they come together.
The ruling party here is making all efforts to move forward, but the opposition party does not want to negotiate — they are going out to the UK and the US and negotiating with them.
I don’t know how that is a way forward. I don’t know how other people can come here and solve your problems.</blockquote>

Stop Going To America, Talk To ED - India Tells MDC

Zimbabwe’s ambassador to India Maxwell Ranga has urged some Government ministries to revisit the six Memoranda of Understanding signed by the two governments four months ago and submit their respective requirements to enable speedy implementation.
President Mnangagwa and Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu in November last year signed six agreements for cooperation in the fields of geology, mining and mineral resources, traditional medicine and homeopathy, as well as the field of arts. Zimbabwe and India also agreed to waiver visa requirement for diplomatic or service passports.
In an interview, Ambassador Ranga said India was now ready, but implementation was being delayed by some relevant ministries in submitting their written requirements. Ranga said the relevant ministries should play their part to enable the two governments to implement the agreements.
<blockquote>The two governments inked the agreements, but implementation can only be done upon submission of each ministry’s requirements in line with the MoUs. It is my wish that the relevant ministries revisit the MoUs signed by the governments to propel implementation.”</blockquote>
India also agreed to supply 10 ambulances to Zimbabwe, which are yet to be delivered. India is also expected to give life-saving drugs to Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe Urged To Revisit Agreements Signed With India

Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Rungsung Masakui handed over 105 scholarships for students to study at Parul University in India today. The scholarships are expected to grow  Zimbabwe’s human capital base. Ambassador Masakui emphasised that the students should use the skills that they attain to develop Zimbabwe.
Parul University country representative, Mr Cyprian Mudoti also added that the Indian University will allow the students to get fundamental skills needed for the development of the country.
