Two foreign military aircraft were sighted over Harare on Saturday and Sunday sending social media into a frenzy, ZimLive reported.
A United States Air Force C-17A Globemaster III landed at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport just before 11 AM on Saturday.
Then, on Sunday, an Italian Air Force Boeing 767 touched down at the same airport at 6.15 PM.
A ZimLive source was quoted as saying that the Italian Air Force was evacuating a top diplomat taken ill with an undisclosed illness. Said the source:
<blockquote>The Boeing 767 is a hospital in the air – fully equipped for any medical emergency. The mission was to airlift a high-level Italian embassy official.</blockquote>
The 767-2EY(ER), registration MM62229, was on the ground in Harare for about two hours and 30 minutes, before flying back to Italy at about 8.50 PM.
Meanwhile, ZimLive has established that the U.S. Air Force C-17, registration 08-8204, was delivering supplies for the embassy in Harare.
The aircraft which commonly performs tactical and strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world, flew out of Zweibrucken, Germany, on June 30.
The C-17 made drops in Harare and South Africa – where it landed at Lanseria Airport – on July 3 before delivering some cargo for the United States embassy in Mozambique. It left Mozambique on Monday, returning to Germany.

Two American students were convicted of murdering an Italian police officer in a botched drug deal while on vacation and sentenced to life in prison.
The duo, Finnegan Lee Elder, 21, and Gabriel Natale Hjorth, 20, were convicted by a jury in Rome this Wednesday who recommended life in prison sentence for the murder of Vice Brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega, 35.

Reports say Elder stabbed Rega 11 times with a 7-inch blade on July 26, 2019, after a drug deal went awry while Natale-Hjorth, whom Elder knew from high school in Mill Valley, California, helped hide the knife.
The defendants maintained that they acted in self-defense when confronted by Rega and his partner adding they thought the cops were sent to attack them by a drug dealer who sold them fake cocaine.
The stabbing unfolded on July 26, 2019, after Natale-Hjorth and Elder tried to buy cocaine with 80 euros ($96) from a man outside the hotel where they were staying in Rome’s Trastevere nightlife district, but were sold a crushed-up bag of aspirin instead.
The pair then allegedly stole a bag belonging to the suspected drug dealer and demanded 100 euros and a gram of cocaine for him to get it back.
The man agreed and told the pair he would meet them to exchange the bag, but instead called the police to report the theft.
Rega and his partner, wearing plainclothes, were dispatched to the agreed meeting spot where they confronted the two Americans and identified themselves in Italian as police before Elder stabbed Rega.

Life In Prison For American Students Convicted Of Murdering Italian cop

The current leader of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has changed a line in the Lord’s Prayer, also known as “Our Father.”
The Pope has changed the words “lead us not into temptation” to “do not abandon us to temptation…”
The change so far only applies to the Italian translation of the ‘Our Father” which was given final approval by Italy’s bishops of the church, in consultation with the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_See">Holy See.</a>
Some background to the change as reported in The Economist:
<blockquote>In 2017, Pope Francis told an Italian TV channel that he was unhappy with the standard translations of one particular line in the prayer which Christ proposed. That line is “lead us not into temptation” or in Italian “non indurci in tentazione”.
He explained: “It is not a good translation because it speaks of a God who induces temptation… I am the one who falls. It is not Him pushing me into temptation to then see how far I have fallen. A father doesn’t do that, a father helps you to get up immediately. It is Satan who leads us into temptation, that’s his department.”
In the wake of that papal bomb-shell, it was left up to national bishops’ conferences, responsible for translation into their respective languages, to decide how to respond.
The latest development, prompting the recent headlines, is that Italy’s bishops, in consultation with the Holy See, have given final approval to an Italian version which reflects the pontiff’s thinking and will be used in a forthcoming Missal or prayer-book. The new rendering is “non abbandonarci alla tentazione…” meaning something like “do not abandon us to temptation…”</blockquote>
