The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has summoned CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe and Chicken Inn Coach, Joseph Antipas to appear before its Disciplinary Committee for alleged breaches of the PSL rules and regulations.
Both coaches recently criticised match officials, and now they must account for their statements to the PSL, potentially facing sanctions.
Chitembwe said referees have turned the premiership into a “comic show” after Ralph Kawondera’s late equaliser against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium was ruled out for offside.
Antipas on the other hand, castigated match officials and also described the PSL as a comic show, after the Gamecocks lost to Manica Diamonds at Sakubva Stadium.
A statement issued by PSL Media and Liason Officer Kudzai Bare on Wednesday on the summoning of the two coaches to a Disciplinary Hearing reads:

The Premier Soccer League has summoned Caps United FC Coach, Lloyd Chitembwe and Chicken Inn FC Coach, Joseph Antipas to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee for alleged breaches of the PSL rules and regulations.
The summoning of the two coaches comes in response to statements they made which are deemed to bring the league into disrepute. Such actions are in direct violation of the PSL rules and regulations.
In terms of order 31.2.16 of the PSL Rules and Regulations, it is an act of misconduct on the part of a club official who:
Commits any act or makes any statement, either orally or in writing, or has been responsible for conduct which is considered ungentlemanly, insulting or improper behaviour, or likely to bring the game, sponsors, any member, the League or ZIFA into disrepute.
Lloyd Chitembwe is scheduled to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday 23 April 2024 while Joseph Antipas’ disciplinary hearing is on Thursday 25 April 2024.

PSL Summons Chitembwe, Antipas To Appear Before Disciplinary Committee

Veteran football coach <a href="https://pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas">Joey Antipas</a> is reportedly set to be reappointed as Chicken Inn Football Club head coach ahead of the 2024 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
The club’s administration is reported to be unhappy with the team’s performance in the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and Chibuku Super Cup.
The Gamecocks were under head coach Prince Matore and his assistant Farai Tawarechera with Antipas as the technical advisor.
The ZIFA Normalisation Committee recently decided that it was unfair to bar coaches without CAF A licences from sitting on the bench in the topflight league when courses for the qualification have not been conducted in the country for years.
ZIFA suspended the requirement, and this means that Antipas, a CAF B licence holder, can now sit on the Chicken Inn bench.
<a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/joey-antipas-set-for-chicken-inn-return/">The Herald</a> reported a club source as saying Matore and Tawarechera are set for departure. Said the source:

The club is on the verge of parting ways with head coach Prince Matore and his assistant Farai Tawarechera. Nothing has been finalised yet.
However, if that does happen Joey Antipas is set to bounce as the club’s head coach and he is set to bring his assistants.

The Gamecocks managed to post 11 wins, 16 draws and seven defeats in the process amassing 49 points, in the 2023 PSL season.
The 2015 PSL champions finished 17 points adrift from eventual league winners Ngezi Platinum Stars in the just-ended season.
Chicken Inn secretary-general Tawengwa Hara refused to comment on the rumours when contacted by The Herald. He said:

I don’t want to talk about anything that is football-related. At the moment, I’m occupied. I will get back to you as soon as I’m done.

Antipas won the league title with Motor Action in 2010 and has coaching stints with the senior national soccer team, The Warriors.

Chicken Inn technical director Joey Antipas says ZIFA’s standardisation of coaching requirements in the topflight has come at the wrong time as the country is under FIFA suspension.
Antipas (62), is one of the few coaches to have won a Premier Soccer League title with two different clubs.
He won his first league title with Motor Action in 2010, before lifting the trophy for a second time with Chicken Inn in 2015.
However, Antipas cannot coach in the PSL anymore due to ZIFA’s new regulations as he holds a CAF B Licence.
ZIFA insists that coaches without CAF A certificates will not sit on technical benches for Premiership teams starting this year.
Antipas believes ZIFA has not been fair to coaches, considering that the association has failed to hold the CAF A course since 2017. He said:

Standardisation is a good thing in a real environment, but, at the moment, we are not in a real environment due to our ban by FIFA.
So, all I can do as one of the coaches who do not have the CAF A is to hope that the course comes up.
I would like to continue and pursue my coaching career.
It’s a pity that there haven’t been CAF A courses for quite some time.
I was at Amazulu in Durban and could not make it because the club didn’t want me to attend, as I would have been away for four weeks.
You know, if you are coaching a foreign club, there is no way you can just decide to go away.
So, I was very unfortunate, but if the course comes up, I will have to do the courses because it’s important to invest in yourself properly.
I thought I was okay without the CAF A certificate because my results speak for themselves.
It is a bit unfair to standardise, especially in the situation that we are in as Zimbabwe. Remember, we are banned by CAF and FIFA.
We are also not playing in the Champions League. Even if your club wins the championship, you can’t play in Africa.
But as coaches, we continue working until the ban is lifted and the courses come up.

Joey Antipas Vows To Upgrade His Coaching Badges

Former Warriors coach Joey Antipas says Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba needs counselling and motivation to overcome the career setback he is currently facing at English Premiership club.
Nakamba, who turned 29 years old last week, was recently told he is surplus to requirement and to find a new club by Aston Villa coach Unai Emery.
Antipas told <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/whither-to-nakamba/">The Herald</a> that Nakamba still has more years of football ahead of him. Said Antipas:

It happens in a football career that at one point you are up and the next you are down.
I think this is what is happening to Nakamba. But these are just phases that come and go.
More than anything, I would think he needs counselling and good motivation. Marvelous is a professional, he still has more years of football ahead of him.
Nakamba is one of the top players in the country. If the Warriors were to play a game today, he is obviously one player that the national team coaches would like to have on their team.
So, it’s quite a difficult time for him. It can be such a heartbreak for any player.
Just imagine, suddenly you cannot make the match day squad and you are told to leave.
The last time we were reading that he was doing well and suddenly this. To be honest, I can’t blame Marvelous, and neither do I blame the coach.
The truth is we all don’t know what really happened with Nakamba ever since he came back from that injury.
He should hold his head up and look for new challenges elsewhere, if possible.
He needed to get his confidence back. At 29, he can still play to his best and probably be at the peak of his career.
A good footballer at that level always finds ways to get out of those kinds of situations and I am just hoping for the best for Marvelous.

Nakamba signed for Aston Villa from Belgian side Club Brugge for €12 million in August 2019.
The midfielder has made 58 EPL appearances since joining the club, 29 coming in his maiden season in the 2019/20 season.
He made 13 appearances during the 2020/21 season but also suffered a series of injuries and loss of form.
Last season, he made 16 appearances but was yet to play a minute of English Premiership football this season.
Nakamba is one of the three players that have been put on the transfer list by Aston Villa, along with Frenchman Morgan Sanson and Swedish Ludwig Augustinsson.

Former Warriors Coach Says Nakamba Needs Good Counselling And Motivation

Bulawayo-based Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Chicken Inn has signed <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Calum_English-Brown">Calum English-Brown</a> from relegated WhaWha.
The 21-year-old striker has signed a two-year deal with the GameCocks, just two years after the conclusion of the 2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
Speaking after the club presented individual awards to excelling players for the past season at a ceremony at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) on Wednesday night Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas described English-Brown as exciting and charismatic. He said:

I thought Calum did well at WhaWha. He was a bundle of energy, a bundle of joy to watch and also the boy has got good talent, so we just have to try and nurture that talent and push him all the way to the top. He brings in excitement.
Calum is a type of player who is electric on the ball, can play with both feet, he has got good pace and just his charisma on the game makes him a good player and I believe he will improve with time. I think he will be good for us at Chicken Inn.

Antipas hinted that the club will bring in more players to reinforce the squad ahead of another challenge for the premiership title next season. He said:

If you look at the league this year, FC Platinum ran away with the league. We were 12 points behind them and Dynamos were five points behind us.
We have to try and catch up with the rest, especially FC Platinum, so we have to bring in players to strengthen the side not just for the sack of bringing in the players.
It was a competitive season, it ended up with FC Platinum running away with the league title but the rest of us competed well and I thought we did well coming up number two.
But we need to up our game and I think what affected us was the COVID-19 break where we were out of the game for more or less 18 months.
It takes a toll on the players but I believe now we are back and things can improve especially on the playing field.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Donovan Bernard was voted Chicken Inn Player of the Year and received a US$1 000 prize.
Xolani Ndlovu picked up $700 for the Players’ Player of the Year award while Brian Muza pocketed US$600 for finishing the season as the club’s top goal scorer.
Brett Amidu got $650 as the Goal of the Season award, while the Most Improved Player of the Season was Itai Mabunu who got $250.

Chicken Inn Sign Calum English-Brown

Former Warriors coaches Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambga and Joey Antipas have castigated the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) for giving preferential treatment to foreign coaches.
The two local coaches were speaking in separate interviews with State media following reports that ZIFA paid former Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic 10 per cent of the US$550 000 of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification bonus, which translates to US$55 000.
Neither Chidzambga, who led the national team to two African Cup of Nations tournaments, including their maiden appearance in Tunisia in 2004, nor Antipas, who laid the foundation for the Warriors’ qualification for the 2021 AFCON finals, was paid for similar efforts.
Speaking to The Sunday Mail, Chidzambga said it was a pity that ZIFA was quick to give big bucks to white coaches while looking down upon local coaches. He said:

Since Independence, we have never known anything called a qualification bonus being paid out by ZIFA.
I remember when we qualified for Egypt 2019, ZIFA president Kamambo (Felton) only made a pledge to say we will see how you can be rewarded for qualifying, but nothing materialised.
What I have noticed though and which is very sad is that we have a huge problem of looking down on ourselves as Africans and, if anything, we actually frustrate our own coaches instead of providing a platform for them to succeed.
If it is for a white man, those at ZIFA will run around to do everything possible, and it is a pity.

He said when the team was in Egypt, ZIFA deposited some of their dues in foreign currency accounts, but once the team returned home, the balance was paid in local currency at the ratio of one-to-one.
Antipas revealed that he has not yet been paid by ZIFA for overseeing the Warriors’ 2-0 win over Zambia in Lusaka and the 0-0 draw against Botswana, results which laid the foundation for qualification for the 2021 AFCON finals. Antipas said:

We feel we are used as scapegoats most of the time. I am yet to be paid for the games against Botswana, which was a draw and the win in Zambia, and I have not had any engagement from ZIFA.
</blockquote>
Logarusic was sacked on Sunday last week after the ZIFA board buckled under incessant pressure from football fans and pundits to fire the Croat.
The Croat is the first coach to retain his Warriors job despite going on a long, pathetic spell of one win in 14 games.

Mhofu, Antipas Criticise ZIFA For Giving Loga 'Special' Treatment

Former Warriors caretaker coach Joey Antipas says the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) should not listen to calls from some sections of the media and fanbase to fire current national team coach Zdravko Logarusic.
Since his appointment in February 2020, the Croat has managed just one victory out of 12 matches in the Warriors dugout.
Loga’s solitary victory was the 1-0 win over Botswana last March, which sealed qualification to the upcoming AFCON 2021 finals in Cameroon.
In an interview with H-Metro on Thursday, Antipas called for patience as calls to have Loga sacked continue. The Chicken Inn gaffer said:
<blockquote>This is not the time to fire Logarusic, ZIFA should give a deaf ear to the critics and respect his contract.
It could have been a different conversation if he had not qualified the nation to the AFCON.
He gave privilege to the youngsters we had not seen in Warriors colours, it was a brave decision which we must respect. It is unfair to pinpoint everything on him.
Most of our senior players are now at the twilight of their careers and we are not aware of that.</blockquote>
Antipas argued that Logarusic should no be judged solely on the basis of his results at the COSAFA Cup tournament. He said:
<blockquote>COSAFA is a developmental tournament and it hurts not to do well considering our background but let us not be emotional.
I urge him (Logarusic) to be strong. He should stay positive and stick to his ideologies and also fans should uphold his project.
Rome was not built in one day. As a country, we are in the darkest moments and let us not play the blame game. We need collective ideas.</blockquote>
Zimbabwe was in group B with Malawi, Senegal, Namibia and Mozambique. The Warriors finished with two points scoring three goals in four games, from two draws and two defeats.

Joey Antipas Defends Under Fire Warriors Coach

Chicken Inn coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joey Antipas</a> said he applied for the Warriors job after being encouraged to do so by close family members and friends.
Antipas, who was in charge of six Warriors matches on an interim basis, revealed that he is currently sorting out a new deal with his Premiership employers after finishing second in the just-ended 2019 Castle Lager <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Premier_Soccer_League" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Premier Soccer League</a>. He said:
<blockquote>A lot of people have encouraged me to apply for the job and, so, I have applied.
Should l get the job, ZIFA will have to talk to my employers. We are sorting out a new deal. ‘‘But, first things first, we will see what goes on.</blockquote>
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) advertised the post of full-time Warriors coach last month, with the vacancy open for both local and foreign nationals.

Antipas, FOUR Foreign Coaches Apply For Warriors Job

The country’s football administration board ZIFA is currently hunting for a new coach, the Sunday Mail reports. The seat fell vacant when the Warriors’s then coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Sunday_Chidzambwa">Sunday Chidzambga</a> resigned when the warriors returned from Egypt for the AFCON.
According to the publication ZIFA has the following conditions:
<blockquote>The new Warriors coach should be a holder of a CAF A Coaching Badge and should have at least 10 years’ international football experience
ZIFA also wants someone with practical experience of Zimbabwean and African football.</blockquote>

ZIFA Looking For A New Warriors' Coach

Interim Warriors coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joey Antipas’</a> hopes of being appointed the substantive national team head coach have been dashed after the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Football_Association_(ZIFA)" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)</a> revealed that applicants for the job should be holders of the CAF A licence.
ZIFA advertised the Warriors job vacancy recently and among other things, the applicants should possess the CAF A licence, have at least 10 years of international football experience and have knowledge of the English Language.
Antipas, who is the Chicken Inn FC head coach, was appointed national team coach on a caretaker basis following the resignation of former coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Sunday_Chidzambwa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sunday Chidzambwa</a> in July.
According to NewZimbabwe.com, Antipas holds a CAF B Coaching Licence and has spent time at European clubs, Borussia Dortmund (German) and Brondby (Denmark) as part of his studies in 2012 and 2013.

Antipas Does Not Qualify For Warriors Job

Former Warriors interim coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joey Antipas</a> insists that he did not walk away from the national team but that his mandate had expired.
Antipas declared that he is willing to take the Warriors job again if the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Football_Association_(ZIFA)" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)</a> re-engages him. He said:
<blockquote>I never said that I’m quitting. It’s only that my mandate has expired. My mandate was for the six games, two in the World Cup qualifiers against Somalia, two against Lesotho in the CAF African Nations Championship and the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Zambia and Botswana. It’s entirely up to ZIFA to decide what’s next. I am open to anything.</blockquote>
The Chicken Inn coach announced that he has left the Warriors soon after masterminding a 2-1 win over rivals Zambia in what Zambian football commentators called the “Loah Shedding Derby” or simply “El Sheddico”.
The game was a Group H 2021 <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Africa_Cup_of_Nations" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Africa Cup of Nations</a> qualifier played at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia. Antipas Says He Never Said He's Quitting Warriors Job

Former Warriors caretaker coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joseph Antipas</a> said that he resigned on the basis that his tenure was always meant to be short-term and to end in December.
The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chicken_Inn_Football_Club" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Chicken Inn</a> coach shocked the football fraternity by announcing his departure from the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Football_Team" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Warriors</a> technical team barely 24 hours after leading the Warriors to a 2-1 2021 Afcon qualifier win over Zambia in Lusaka on Tuesday night. Said Antipas:

Antipas was in charge of the Warriors for six games and has a decent winning record – 61,12 per cent.
During his tenure, Antipas led the Warriors to qualification for the 2020 Chan tournament and the group stages of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
He also leaves the Warriors on course of qualifying for the 2021 Afcon finals after collecting 4 points from two games.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) says matches will continue as scheduled despite a call by Warriors and Chicken Inn coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joey Antipas</a> to stop local games during the FIFA week.
PSL spokesperson, Kudzai Bare, said that in accordance with the PSL Rules and Regulations, a club’s game is postponed when at least three of its players have been called for national duty. She said:
<blockquote>What we usually do in such circumstances when the national team is playing, if a club has three or more players in the squad, their game is postponed.
But if there is no team with more than three players, the domestic games will continue as scheduled.</blockquote>
Only five players have been called up for the back-to-back 2021 Afcon qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia.

Warriors Qualifiers Won't Affect PSL Schedule

Warriors coach <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joey_Antipas" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Joey Antipas</a> has trimmed the provisional squad from 32 to 24 ahead of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Africa_Cup_of_Nations" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Africa Cup of Nations </a>qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia.
Antipas has been boosted by the granting of passports to Adam Thomas Chicksen, who plays for Bolton Wanderers in England, and striker Macauley Miles Bonne, who plays for Charlton Athletic, making them eligible to play for the Warriors.
Zimbabwe plays against Botswana on 15 November at the giant<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/National_Sports_Stadium" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> National Sports Stadium</a>, and then Zambia on the 19th at Heroes National Stadium.

Antipas Trims Warriors Provisional Squad To 24

Zimbabwe has beaten Lesotho 3-1 in a CHAN final round first leg match played on Sunday at the National Stadium. The Warriors got their goals from Prince Dube (23′ and 60′) and Wellington Taderera (84′).
Lesotho pulled one goal back from the penalty spot through Kalale Hlompho (90+3′)
Lesotho had dominated the first fifteen minutes of the match that started very slow as both sides made no attacks.
The Warriors started showing real-life yonder the 23rd minute after Prince Dube’s goal.
The tempo of the game slowed down again around the 80th minute with both teams not attacking.

After recovering from the Somalian loss that left tounges wagging and some Zimbos angry, The Warriors’ gaffer has beseeched the Warriors to put 100% effort in today’s game against Lesotho to be played this afternoon in Harare. Antipas was quoted by the Sunday Mail saying:

The CHAN Qualifying match against Lesotho will be the last in the series with the return leg to be played in Lesotho next month. After that Antipas’ boys will embark on an AFCON qualifiers’ series against Botswana and Zambia in November. As for today, Prince Dube will lead the Warriors frontline, flanked by Phineas Bamusi and Valentine Kadonzvo.

Warriors interim coach Joey Antipas has roped in Amazulu forward Ovidy Karuru for the must-win encounter against Somalia in a Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifier to be played on Tuesday (tomorrow) at the National Sports Stadium.
Karuru is one of the senior players who were overlooked by Antipas when he named the squad for the away leg against Somalia played in Djibouti on Thursday week. The Warriors were beaten 1-0.

The warriors’ acting coach Joey Antipas speaking to The Chronicle yesterday blamed their loss to a low ranking team on logistics. The gaffer was qouted by the publication saying:

Warriors caretaker coach, Joey Antipas has been urged to stand his and not allow the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) to dictate which players are called for the national team.
Antipas was appointed Warriors coach on an interim basis about two weeks ago following the sudden resignation of Sunday Chidzambga.
Reports claim that Antipas was instructed to drop several players by ZIFA for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Somalia.
The players were reportedly dropped for having been vocal in demanding their allowances at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Key players to be overlooked include captain Knowledge Musona, his vice Ovidy Karuru, George Chigova, Talent Chawapihwa, Edmore Sibanda, Ronald Pfumbidzai, and Danny Phiri.
A Daily News Editor opines that Antipas’s cowardice sets a bad precedent. Part of the article reads:
<blockquote>… Joey Antipas has set a bad precedent and allowed a cowardly culture to perpetuate when he allowed Zifa to dictate players he could choose and not call up to the national team.
If the Warriors fail to get a good result against Somalia, Antipas will not be immune from criticism despite being forced to pick a weak squad by Zifa.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) reportedly instructed interim Warriors coach, Joey Antipas not to call certain players for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Somalia.
The surprise exclusions include the Warriors’ three captains at the 2019 AFCON finals — Knowledge Musona, Ovidy Karuru and Danny Phiri.
Goalkeepers George Chigova and Edmore Sibanda were also overlooked among other players in what observers consider to be a purge of those who were vocal during the failed AFCON campaign.
ZIFA officials came under fire for allegedly taking their concubines to Egypt whom they showered with hundreds of dollars while players’ allowances were not paid.
The Herald cites unnamed sources who revealed that Antipas was ‘forced’ to leave out some players. Said the sources:
<blockquote>Joey Antipas told the ZIFA officials that they have to address that issue because it was their call and, in return, the ZIFA officials said the coaches should provide an explanation which didn’t trigger any controversy.
The coach felt it would be unfair for him to say something that wasn’t true because he knew these were not just fringe players and this is also a World Cup qualifier.
So, there was a deadlock, but everyone knew that this issue would come up, the questions about why some of the regulars were not in the squad.</blockquote>
ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela dismissed the claims saying that the coach used his discretion in the selection of the national team and ZIFA didn’t interfere with the selection of the national team.

The first leg of the preliminary round fixture will be played at a neutral venue in Djibouti on 5 September.

Warriors interim coach, Joey Antipas, believes that he has a wider catchment of players who can be called up for national duty going forward.
Speaking to The Herald on Tuesday, Antipas asserted that players will be selected on merit. He said:
<blockquote>We have a very good catchment of players, and if we make the right calls, I am sure we can make the country a powerhouse again.
There are players who have played for the national team before who are doing very well, and some who are yet to play for the team whom I feel needs to be given a chance.
I have read about some of the names in the press, of players who are playing abroad and I would like to assess some of them because, frankly speaking, I have not yet seen some of them in action.
Our selection will be on merit and I believe the best players, and those doing very well, will get a chance to play for their country.</blockquote>

List Of Zimbabwean Players Based In Europe

Newly-appointed Warriors caretaker head coach, Joey Antipas has urged the government to grant citizenship to England-based Warriors striker Macauley Bonne.
Bonne was keen on playing for the Zimbabwe national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt but failed to get a passport in time for the tournament.
In an interview with The Herald, Antipas revealed that he would want the Charlton Athletic frontman in the Warriors next squad. He said:
<blockquote>We have very good players available for selection and my wish is for the authorities to sort out the papers of Macauley Bonne so that we can include him in our next squad.
I have been following his progress and I can tell you that he is a very good player whom I think can add value to the team.
If his papers are regularised, we will have him in the team, we want to make competition for places very tight.</blockquote>
Bonne scored 45 goals in 90 appearances for his previous club Leyton Orient. He was signed by England’s Championship outfit Charlton Athletic during the offseason.

Joey Antipas Urges Govt To Grant Macauley Bonne Zim Passport

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) technical committee has reportedly settled for Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas to take over as Warriors coach following the resignation of Sunday Chudzambga last month.
Antipas will be assisted by current Warriors caretaker coach Rahman Gumbo and Young Warriors and Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya.
Agent Sawu is tipped to replace Wellington Mpandare as the senior national team manager, while Highlanders goalkeepers’ coach Tembo Chuma takes over from Brenna Msiska.
The Chronicle was informed of the imminent appointments by its source who is said to be privy to the developments. Said the source:
<blockquote>The guys met on Saturday in Bulawayo and considered a number of names, local and foreign, but in the end, they settled for Antipas. Some wanted a foreign coach but financial issues came into focus.</blockquote>
While refusing to name any names, Committee chairperson and Zifa board member Bryton Malandule told the publication that they met and decided on a local name. He said:
<blockquote>Look it’s only proper that we follow due process before rushing to the media. I will be forwarding the recommended name to the board which will then make an announcement next week after having also formally consulted the person. It’s a local name though so be patient and allow us to complete all the formalities.</blockquote>
Antipas told the Chronicle that he was not aware of ZIFA’s interest but revealed that for him, it is an honour to be linked with the national team job.

South Africa based former Warriors coach Joey Antipas told The Herald that there has not been any formal engagement from ZIFA concerning the Warriors’ coaching job but said he was ready to consider the challenge if approached with a satisfactory offer.
Said Antipas:
<blockquote>I know nothing, I have heard nothing and I say nothing. Who is linking me to the Warriors job? It’s news to me. (But) Zimbabwe is my home and if offered, it would depend on some issues.</blockquote>
He however said that his current focus is with South African side Amazulu.
