Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat was spotted training with South African club SuperSport United on Thursday, fueling speculation about a potential move. Billiat left Amakhosi in July 2023 after his contract expired and has been without a club since then.
Speculation about Billiat’s future intensified when an image circulated on social media, showing him in SuperSport United’s training kit. The sighting of the former Warriors captain at the club’s training ground has sparked rumours of a potential move to the team.

Former Zimbabwe Warriors striker, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Khama_Billiat/">Khama Billiat</a>, is reportedly set to join a new club months after leaving South African giants Kaizer Chiefs. Billiat left Kaizer Chiefs when his contract ended and his future has been uncertain.
While he has been linked to clubs in Europe, North Africa, and East Africa, recent reports suggest that Cape Town City FC is keen on signing the 33-year-old. According to Soccer Laduma, the club’s manager, John Comitis, has expressed his desire to reunite with Billiat, as they have a history dating back to 2010 when Billiat joined Ajax Cape Town.
Billiat’s outstanding skills have made a significant impact on clubs like Ajax, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs. He is expected to join Cape Town City’s training camp and will undergo a trial period to assess his performance.

Khama Billiat Expected To Join New Club

Former Kaizer Chiefs footballer, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Willard_Katsande/">Willard Katsande</a>, has stated that he feels it is the right time for <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G" href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Khama_Billiat/">Khama Billiat</a> to end his five-year tenure with the club. Katsande acknowledged that the club and the player failed to reach an agreement over a new contract, and that both parties needed to prioritise their interests. Katsande told the Sowetan:

Willard Katsande Urges Billiat To Leave Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs say they intend to put Khama Billiat’s contractual issue to rest and urged him to return to the negotiating table.
Last week, Chiefs announced that they had tabled a new contract to Billiat but the Zimbabwean was nowhere to be found and did not respond to the club’s efforts to get hold of him.
Speaking on Radio 2000, Kaizer Chiefs Communications Manager Vina Maphosa said they expected the 32-year-old to be in their pre-season camp despite his contract having expired on 30 June. <a href="https://www.snl24.com/soccerladuma/local/premiership/kaizer-chiefs/kaizer-chiefs-aim-to-put-khama-billiat-issue-to-rest-with-spirits-high-in-camp-20230712">Said Maphosa</a>:

I can also reveal that the last time he reported sick as well at training and he didn’t take part in training but he was at the village.

Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has reported that the Zimbabwean international, Khama Billiat, is currently untraceable and has not been responding to attempts to contact him. 
The Club says it tabled a new offer for the attacking midfielder’s contract, which expired on 30 June 2023, to remain with Amakhosi. However, the player has not yet responded to the offer or any attempts to communicate with him.
Billiat was last seen at the Kaizer Chiefs Village on 29 June and has not been answering the Club’s calls or messages. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the club said despite being expected to attend the team’s current camp with his teammates, Billiat has failed to show up and is currently missing. Reads the statement:

Kaizer Chiefs: Billiat Is Currently Nowhere To Be Found

DStv premiership club Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in signing Zimbabwean midfielder Tatenda Tavengwa.
Tavengwa currently plays for Venda Football Academy in the National First Division.

Said the source:

Kaizer Chiefs Interested In Signing Zimbabwean Midfielder | Report

Former Zimbabwean footballer Khama Billiat has caught the attention of Tanzanian football giants, Young Africans, who are also known as Yanga.
Billiat’s contract with Kaizer Chiefs is set to expire on June 30, and he is uncertain whether he will receive a new deal at the South African club.
His manager, Godfrey Bakasa, has not provided any details about the player’s future. Some reports in the South African media suggest that Billiat could receive a one-year contract extension, but Kaizer Chiefs have not made any official announcement yet.
Yanga, who recently won the Tanzanian league, have become the first club to express interest in signing Billiat. They are offering Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League football in their bid to lure him to their team. Young African president, Engineer Hersi Ally Said, confirmed that Billiat is one of the players on their radar, according to FARPost. He said:

Tanzanian Champions Show Interest In Kaizer Chiefs' Khama Billiat

South African journalist James Freemantle says rumours linking former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane with a move for Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat are obviously rubbish.
Writing for <a href="https://www.thesouthafrican.com/sport/soccer/pitso-mosimane-has-bigger-fish-to-fry-than-khama-billiat-kaizer-chiefs-opinion-breaking-16-february-2023/">The South African</a>, Freemantle argued that Mosimane’s club Al-Ahli Saudi FC are second in the Saudi First Division League and the coach is focused on fighting for promotion and nothing else. He added:

As we know, Pitso and Billiat have enjoyed some special moments together at Sundowns and that can’t be forgotten, nor will it be.
However, their chemistry was forged by success and playing at the highest level for trophies. Also, that was then and this is now.
Billiat is 32 and injured for the remainder of the current campaign, and who knows if he’ll ever get back to his best? 
The attacker has absolutely no experience playing for a side pushing for promotion.
Why would Pitso take a gamble on him then? Makes no sense. No sense at all.
So, if you’ve read rumours about Pitso wanting Billiat, just know that those are completely and utterly made up and there is absolutely no substance behind them.

A recent report by another South African publication, Sunday World claimed “Billiat’s days at Kaizer Chiefs are numbered and his services have been offered to Pitso Mosimane’s club Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.”
Under Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns, Billiat was at the peak of his powers and won the CAF Champions League and Player of the Year in 2016, before he moved to Chiefs.
However, nagging injuries have affected Billiat’s form at the Soweto giants, and club legends gave taken every opportunity given to criticize him.

"Pitso Mosimane Not Interested In Kaizer Chiefs Flop Khama Billiat"

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League club Chicken Inn has confirmed the dispute with DStv premiership side Kaizer Chiefs over Teenage Hadebe’s sale to Turkey’s Yeni Malatyaspor has been resolved.
Chicken Inn secretary-general Tavengwa Hara told <a href="https://farpost.co.za/top-stories/kaizer-chiefs-avoid-transfer-ban-as-zim-side-confirm-teenage-hadebe-dispute-resolved/">FARPost</a> that Kaizer Chiefs has paid the money it owed the Gamecocks after FIFA’s intervention.
According to Hara, the Turkish side, Yeni Malatyaspor, delayed the due process of payment. He said:

I can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs have fulfilled their side of the bargain.
The delays were by the Turkey club. We paid each other through FIFA, so the matter is resolved.
</blockquote>
Kaizer Chiefs paid around US$13 500 for Hadebe’s move to Turkey after Chicken Inn filed a complaint to FIFA.
FIFA had threatened Kaizer Chiefs with sanctions if it failed to fulfill its financial obligation to Chicken Inn. FIFA said:

The respondent (Kaizer Chiefs) shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid.
The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.
The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment [including all applicable interest] is still not made by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods.
The consequences shall only be enforced at the request of the Claimant in accordance with article. 24 paragraph. 7 and 8 and article. 25 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
The final costs of the proceedings in the amount of USD 5,000 [86,300] are to be paid by the Respondent to FIFA.
FIFA will reimburse to the Claimant [Chicken Inn] the advance of costs paid at the start of the present proceedings.

Chiefs, on Monday, issued a statement saying they “have fulfilled all the obligations in the transfer of Hadebe”.
Hadebe has since left the Turkish side and is now based in the United States of America, where he plays for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo.

Chicken Inn Confirms Kaizer Chiefs Payment

Premier Soccer League club Chicken Inn Football Club is set to receive more than US$21 000 from South Africa’s DStv Premiership side Kaizer Chiefs over the 2019 transfer of Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe from Amakhosi to Turkish side, Yeni Malatyaspor.
The two clubs were involved in a protracted dispute over a sell-on clause in Hadebe’s transfer from the Gamecocks to Kaizer Chiefs.
FIFA’s tribunal recently ruled in favour of the 2015 Zimbabwean champions.
This was after the Chicken Inn executive approached the FIFA Players’ Status Committee demanding that Kaizer Chiefs pay the amount it owed the Zimbabwean club after Amakhosi sold Hadebe to Yeni Malatyaspor.
The decision of the Players’ Status Chamber which was passed on 8 November 2022 and signed by the football tribunal chief legal and compliance officer Emilio García Silvero reads:

The claim of the Claimant, Chicken Inn FC, is partially accepted. The Respondent, Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, has to pay to the Claimant, the following amount(s): USD 13,654.11 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest per annum as from 7 July 2021 until the date of effective payment; USD 7,724.64 as outstanding remuneration plus 5% interest per annum as from 16 January 2022 until the date of effective payment…. Full payment (including all applicable interest) shall be made to the bank account indicated in the enclosed Bank Account Registration Form.

The ruling also ordered Kaizer Chiefs to pay the money within 45 days or:

FIFA Orders Kaizer Chiefs To Pay Chicken Inn FC Over US$21 000

Zimbabwean star <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Khama_Billiat">Khama Billiat</a>‘s future at Kaizer Chiefs is shrouded in uncertainty, amid revelations that the Soweto giants are reluctant to extend his contract at the club.
The 32-year-old Mufakose-bred winger joined Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns in one of the biggest transfers in the South African Premiership, back in June 2018.
Despite being the all-time top scorer amongst the active players in the DStv Premiership with 97 goals, Billiat has been subjected to immense criticism from some Chiefs fans, who argue the diminutive winger has not replicated the form which propelled him to stardom at Sundowns.
His current contract at Amakhosi expires in June this year and a source at the club hinted it might not be renewed. The source said:

Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs Future In Limbo

Former Warriors captain, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Willard_Katsande">Willard Katsande</a> has retired from professional football amid reports that he is set to get a management role at Sekhukune.
Katsande, a former Kaizer Chiefs captain, was omitted from the Sekhukhune squad for the 2022/23 season that was announced on Wednesday.
The Mutoko-born 36-year-old was last month asked to retire but the decision was delayed after the club struggled to find a worthy replacement in the midfield.
According to reports in South Africa, Katsande has decided to hang up his boots and take the administration role.
The player joined Babina Noko from Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of last season and made eighteen appearances to help the club fight to survive the chop in the DStv Premiership in their maiden season.
At Chiefs, he spent ten years where he won two league titles, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8.
Katsande also played for the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town for a year after joining the side from Zimbabwe.
In the local top-flight, he featured for Gunners and won the league title with the side in 2009.
Skhukhune United chairman Simon Malatji told Daily Sun newspaper that Katsande will be looking after the image of the club adding, “He will be our official envoy, at the highest ranking football-wise, and players will be looking up to him.” 
Katsande is also now into fashion after launching his clothing brand, Bosso Ya Mboka in December last year.

Willard Katsande Has Retired From Professional Football

Kaizer Chiefs have resolved to lodge an appeal after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) declined to postpone the club’s December fixtures following a COVID-19 outbreak at the club.
In a statement this Tuesday, Kaizer Chiefs said they wrote to the PSL after initially recording 31 positive cases, which included a majority of players as well as members of the technical team.
The club conducted additional rounds of testing which revealed a rise to 36, followed by 48 and then 52 positive diagnoses from the subsequent two weeks’ round of testing.
Kaizer Chiefs failed to fulfil their DStv Premiership home fixture against Cape Town City on 4 December and against Lamontville Golden Arrows four days later. The club said:

When the medical staff noted a decline in the infection rate and some staff returning to work from quarantine, we were able to honour the next match against Sekhukhune on 12 December.
Kaizer Chiefs is disappointed and taken aback by the contrasting lack of urgency from the PSL after having taken almost three weeks to address the matter.

Amakhosi argued that they would not have benefited from the postponement in any way as it would have caused unnecessary fixture congestion later in the season for the Club. The club further stated:

We are studying the feedback and will engage our legal department with the view of appealing this unjustifiable decision through the football mother body, the South African Football Association or the Dispute Resolution Committee.

Khama Billiat was at his brilliant best as his brace helped Kaizer Chiefs to an emphatic 3-1 away win over Swallows FC to lift Amakhosi to second place in the DStv Premiership standings.
Chiefs punished sloppy Swallows defending twice in the space of three minutes at the end of the first half to knock the stuffing out of the Birds and set Amakhosi on the road to an impressive win.
Swallows had the better of the possession in the first half, but they had little to show for it, as they were comfortably kept at bay by the Chiefs’ defence.
Instead, it was Amakhosi whose patience out of possession paid off, and who were the more clinical in taking the chances that presented themselves in the first half.
Chiefs were missing key midfield holding players, Njabulo Ngcobo and Phatutshedzo Nange, but they still had plenty of attacking creative firepower at their disposal.
In the 43rd minute, Billiat assisted Keagan Dolly who made no mistake with a smart finish past February to give Chiefs the lead.
Just three minutes later, Dolly passed the ball to Billiat who beat Birds defender Givemore Khupe to the ball and had the ball in the back of February’s net in a flash to double Chiefs’ lead on the stroke of halftime.
In the 53rd minute, Billiat won the initial header and guided it to Parker, who played it back to him.
The Zimbabwean international had plenty to do when receiving the ball on the edge of the box, but with a breathtaking piece of skill, he ghosted past three Swallows defenders before flashing a left-footed shot past February at his near post to score his second of the game with a sublime bit of individual brilliance.
Billiat celebrated with his trademark Cristiano Ronaldo celebration as his goal gave Chiefs a commanding and unassailable 3-0 lead.

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Willard Katsande was left bloodied after being assaulted in an ugly road rage incident over the weekend.
Katsande was travelling home, after making his debut for new club Sekhukhune United against Chippa United on Saturday, when he was violently attacked in Roodepoort. 
Exclusive pictures and videos obtained by Kickoff.com reveal that Katsande’s vehicle was damaged extensively.
The 35-year-old immediately opened a case of common assault and malicious damage to property at the Honeydew Police Station.
A male driving a Ford EcoSport is believed to be the assailant in the incident which took place on the corner of Hendrick Potgieter and Peter Road. Read the police statement, according to the City Press newspaper:

(A) white male came out of his vehicle and hit me with his fists on my head. He also break (sic) my right window and right side mirror on my vehicle. He hit my vehicle with his foot on the side.
The total value of the damage is R50 000.

The suspect immediately fled the scene.
Despite the incident, Katsande still featured for Sekhukhune in their 2-0 win at Maritzburg United as an early second-half substitute.
Katsande joined Sekhukhune during the current transfer window after spending a decade with Amakhosi.
The Mutoko born and bred midfielder who is popularly known as Salt and Vinegar recently announced that he is willing to come back from retirement and play for the Warriors one more time.
Zimbabwe is scheduled to play South Africa and Ethiopia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and Katsande could be an option in the midfield considering that Marvelous Nakamba, a regular for that position, might fail to come due to travel restrictions.

Robson Sharuko, The Herald columnist has said the way Kaizer Chiefs treated Zimbabwean international Willard ‘Salt and Vinegar’ Katsande was wrong considering his hero status.
Amakhosi parted ways with the defensive midfielder last week putting an end to Katsande’s 10-year illustrious career at the Soweto-based giants.
Sharuko believes Katsande still has a lot to offer and Kaizer Chiefs should have kept him for that if not for his hero status. He said:

Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande is set to leave South African Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs after the Soweto giants opted against offering him a new contract ahead of the new season.
The 35-year-old midfielder has spent ten seasons at Kaizer Chiefs since joining the Johannesburg-based from Ajax Cape Town but is reportedly set to leave after disagreeing on terms with Chiefs on a new deal.
Local media reports suggest Amakhosi are expected to confirm Katsande’s departure later this week.
Katsande’s imminent departure comes after recent indications earlier this month that the veteran midfielder would be offered an extension.
The former Kaizer Chiefs captain’s contract expired at the end of June, but he was seemingly handed a short-term deal in order to be part of the CAF Champions League final.
He featured in the final against Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly where Chiefs lost 3-0 to finish the competition as runners-up.
Chiefs have been on a recruitment exercise after their transfer ban was lifted by FIFA.
Katsande leaves Chiefs as a legend after a lengthy and rewarding career at one of South Africa’s biggest clubs.
The former Highway and Gunners player won a number of trophies with Chiefs, including two league titles, the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup.

Disgruntled Kaizer Chiefs fans are planning to March to the Kaizer Chiefs’ Village headquarters in Naturena on Friday in protest over how the club is being run.
Two of the Chiefs supporters behind the planned protest‚ Mpho Mokoka and Thulani Nombali‚ were interviewed on Power 98.7 on Friday night.
The duo claimed Chiefs fans are tired of the club being excellent in the field of marketing‚ convincing supporters to spend hundreds or thousands of rand on jerseys and merchandise each year‚ but not returning such loyalty with success on the field.
Mokoka told Power Sport Extra that the organisers have been seeking permission for a march from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD). He said:

Kaizer Chiefs Fans Plan Protest At Club Headquarters

Khama Billiat ’s manager Godfrey Vokal Bakasa says the Warriors striker is in pain after suffering an injury when Kaizer Chiefs played Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend.
Bakasa said the 30-year-old was as of yesterday afternoon still waiting for the results of a scan to ascertain the extent of the injury.
Khama Billiat, who recently recovered from a leg injury he suffered in January, limped off the field after 43 minutes following a nasty tackle by Sundowns defender Andile Jali earlier in the game.
Speaking to H-Metro, Khama Billiat’s manager said the former Sundowns player was in pain adding that Kaizer Chiefs was handling the issue. He said:

Former Kaizer Chiefs player, Lucky Maselesele has said Khama Billiat must leave Amakhosi at the end of his contract citing issues to do with the Zimbabwean international’s attitude.
Maselesele also picked the club’s veteran shot stopper, Itumelang Khune, as another player who should leave Amakhosi. 
This comes as Khama Billiat is in the final lap of his current contract which expires on 30 June amid reports that his former club, <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/02/03/billiat-linked-with-possible-move-to-mosimanes-club/">Mamelodi Sundowns and three Egyptian clubs including Al Ahly are interested in signing him.</a>

But Maselesele believes it’s high time the club part ways with Khama Billiat. Speaking to KickOff, he said:

Underfire Kaizer Chiefs player Khama Billiat’s mother Rosa Billiat is reportedly not amused <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/sa-coach-claims-khama-billiat-is-an-age-cheat/">by the age cheat tags </a>levelled against her son and reportedly went on to produce immunisation cards to The Herald to prove that Billiat is indeed 30 years old.
Dispelling the tags, Rosa reportedly said:

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns lost their weekend matches, results that keep Amakhosi at the top of the log with two matches to go.
Kaizer Chiefs lost 1-0 to Bidvest on Sunday while Sundowns lost by the same margin to Baroka on the same day.
The rivals have 53 points each but Amakhosi are placed above the Masandawana as they have a better goal difference (20 vs 15).
The results of the remaining two games are of paramount significance to the title race.

Former Warriors captain, Willard Katsande was on Saturday introduced from the bench to inspire Kaizer Chiefs’ win against relegation-threatened Polokwane City.
Amakhosi were trailing by two goals when Katsande headed home to boost his team’s waning hope and they went on to score two more goals, all three within eight minutes.
After the match, Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has hailed the impact of Willard Katsande, Benard Parker, and Ramahlwe Mphahlele for the second-half comeback showing against Polokwane City. He told SuperSport TV:

South African Absa Premiership club Kaizer Chiefs has warned its supporters against buying facial masks branded with its colours as it has not produced such products.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Soweto giants advised its fans to buy face masks only from reputable suppliers.
When genuine Kaizer Chiefs-branded face masks are available, the club will inform its fans, the club said.
Below is the statement:
<blockquote>Kaizer Chiefs would like to bring it to the attention of supporters that the Club has not produced facial masks or licensed any individual/company to produce Kaizer Chiefs branded masks.
We are in the process of evaluating various options of masks to include in our licensing programme. When we have selected a mask that meets our standards, we will announce it on our platforms, and it will be available for sale in our retail stores and on the KC DigiStore.
Until then, we urge supporters to be wary of bad quality masks from unscrupulous dealers who are trying to cash in on the COVID-19 epidemic by selling counterfeit products bearing our logo or name.
They could potentially be detrimental to your health and well-being.
In the interim, if you require a mask, make sure you get one from a reputable supplier.</blockquote>

Kaizer Chiefs Warn Fans About Fake Branded Face Masks On The Market

Kaizer Chiefs legend and former assistant coach Patrick Mabedi has urged the Naturena-based club not to cast off former Warriors captain <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Willard_Katsande" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Willard Katsande</a> because he is “old”.
Mabedi believes that Katsande is the backbone of the team and still has got some years left in his legs. Said Mabedi:
<blockquote>He still has some legs to go. For me, why do you need to let somebody go that is doing well? I mean if something is not broken in your house, why do you need to change it and try to get rid of it and try to get something else?</blockquote>
Katsande celebrated his 34th birthday on Wednesday and his contract with Chiefs expires at the end of the 2019/2020 season.
He joined Amakhosi from Ajax Cape Town in 2011 and Chiefs have not lost a game in which he has played this season.
