A 21-year-old Automotive Engineering student at Kwekwe Polytechnic College, Nicson Munesu Madhumhe, was sentenced to 210 hours of community service by the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court after being convicted of fraud.
Madhumhe had submitted a forged HEXCO statement of results in an attempt to register for “On Job Educational Training (OJET).” 
He had failed three modules and, rather than retaking the exams, paid US$400 to Chancemore Sibanda, the Chief Security Officer at Kwekwe Polytechnic (who is currently at large), to falsify his results.
In April 2024, Madhumhe received a forged HEXCO statement showing distinctions in the failed subjects. However, when he submitted his OJET application, examination staff noticed discrepancies in the font size of his results.
A subsequent check in the National Examinations Management Information System (NEMIS) revealed the fraud. Madhumhe was confronted and admitted to obtaining the fake results from Sibanda.

Kwekwe Polytechnic Student Sentenced For Forging HEXCO Results

A Kwekwe Polytechnic lecturer has succumbed to COVID-19 prompting the Kwekwe District Taskforce on Covid-19 to consider suspending lectures at the learning institution.
Cases at the institution, whose term was supposed to end on July 30 have risen to 48 with 18 new cases recorded on Tuesday.
Chairperson of the district task force, Mr Vitalis Kwashira confirmed the death of the lecturer adding that they had recommended that the institution be closed to allow proper management of the cases. He said:
<blockquote>_We have written to the relevant departments and we also recommended that the college be temporarily closed so that we can be able to conduct contact tracing. The idea is that if we close down the place, we are able to isolate those who tested positive at the institution. It is almost impossible to manage the situation if lessons are being conducted._
_As it is, it’s like we are seeding the virus if we let the institution open because most of the students go to their places of residence in the community whilst some learn from their homes. This is a recommendation we are still awaiting confirmation._</blockquote>
He said the results of the tests to determine which variant claimed the lecturer’s life were still being processed.
Kwekwe Polytechnic Principal, Mr Evans Musara said the situation is not that good at the institution adding “our lives are at risk and I think relevant authorities will guide us with the best way forward.”
He said the closure of the college was prudent as it will allow fumigation of the area and help curb the spread of the virus from and into the community.

The town has 179 active cases and 21 deaths and a cumulative 487 positive cases.

Kwekwe Polytechnic Lecturer Succumbs To COVID-19

ZANU PF political commissar <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Victor_Matemadanda" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Victor Matemadanda</a> has warned the country’s youths to guard against being used by politicians to commit murder against their opponents, saying they will be risking torment from avenging spirits.
Matemadanda, who is also the Deputy Minister of Defence and War Veteran Affairs, was addressing students at <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Kwekwe_Polytechnic" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kwekwe Polytechnic College</a> recently. He said:
<blockquote>Be wary of some veteran politicians; they will destroy you and the impact will still be felt even after we have long died.
Most of you, you don’t have money, but you have needs. Politicians can abuse you for a laptop that you will never get.
You will be told to eliminate political enemies, but you don’t ask yourselves why the politician is sending us to do their dirty bidding; where are his children!</blockquote>
Matemadanda castigated politicians who lose in elections but then refuse to accept defeat.
The losing politicians then turn to youths to incite them to commit acts of violence against perceived opponents, he added.
