Zimbabwean-linked footballers Nelson Reiss and Treymaurice Nyoni were involved in the highly anticipated FA Cup 3rd round clash between English Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool. Reiss, who has been embroiled in a debate regarding his international allegiance, started the match for Arsenal, while Nyoni was listed on the team sheet but did not make an appearance.

Luton earned a valuable point from the match, which lifted them out of the relegation zone and up to 17th place. Liverpool, on the other hand, moved up to third in the league, surpassing Arsenal on goal difference. They now focus on their upcoming Europa League match against Toulouse.
Luton will aim to build on this result as they prepare to face Manchester United at Old Trafford in their next fixture. However, there was a controversial moment involving Marvelous Nakamba, a Zimbabwean international who plays for Luton, who made a strong challenge on Mac Allister in midfield. England-born Zimbabwean teenage star, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Isaac_Mabaya">Isaac Mabaya</a> made his debut for the England Under-19 side during the recent Fifa international break.
The 17-year-old Liverpool versatile defender featured twice for the Young Lions in their successful UEFA Under-19 EURO qualifying round which ended with a 4-2 victory over Denmark on Tuesday.
Mabaya, born to Zimbabwean parents, earned his maiden call-up to the Under-19 side this month, exactly six months after scoring on his debut for the England Under-18 side during their 3-2 victory over Sweden Under-18 in March.

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has said that Liverpool deserve the 2019/20 league title if the season is cancelled.
The English Premier League is currently on suspension due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic that is rapidly spreading across the world.
Berbatov, a former Bulgaria national team captain said:

Liverpool and Dutch centre-back Virgil van Dijk was named as England’s PFA Player of the Year for 2019 on Sunday.
Van Dijk beat Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling who was also a favourite. The other four finalists are Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) and Bernardo Silva (Manchester City).
He is the first defender to win the trophy since former Chelsea captain John Terry in 2005.
This would be the second year in a row a Liverpool player has been named Players’ Player of the Year, after Mohamed Salah in 2018. Luis Suarez was the last Liverpool player to win the award before Mo Salah.
Sterling was named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Virgil van Dijk Named England’s PFA Player Of The Year

A report in the Daily Mirror newspaper states that English Premier League side Liverpool are interested in signing Zimbabwean Belgium based midfielder Marvelous Nakamba as a replacement for Emre Can, who is likely to leave the club in January.
Can who has one year left on his contract is likely to leave for Juventus who are interested in him. Nakamba currently plays for Brugge which he joined at the start of the season from Vitesse after a successful spell in Netherlands.
