The whistleblower who exposed six secondary school students for booking a lodge in Chitungwiza to engage in sexual acts last week is a former head boy at one of the schools attended by some of the students.
As reported by <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/whistleblower-who-lifted-the-lid-on-shenanigans-of-students-who-booked-a-lodge-used-to-be-a-head-boy-at-one-of-the-schools/">H-Metro</a>, the whistleblower, a taxi driver who transported the students to the lodge, had previously served as head boy at one of the schools.
The group included three girls from Excel College and three boys from Pathway College, who skipped classes last week to meet at the lodge for sexual activities.
Two of the girls allegedly met their partners for the first time that day, possibly arranged by other students.
Police confirmed that one of the six, aged 19, was arrested, while the girls were referred for medical examinations before being released into their parents’ custody.
Christabel Muchemwa, a 36-year-old employee at Royal Guest Lodge, was arrested for allowing the students to book rooms despite the majority being underage.
In a recorded statement, the principal of one of the colleges stated that they would provide emotional support as a short-term measure to help parents cope with the trauma caused by their children’s actions. The statement says:

They (parents) are heart-broken but it has to be reiterated that it’s neither their fault nor ours that this happened.
The children did not escape from the college premises and so they were not in our jurisdiction.
They actually left their homes purporting to be attending school, which in our case begins at 7:30am.
Unbeknown to us all, they had other plans and we were to later learn the whole episode had been orchestrated by a 19-year old Pathway College scholar, in cahoots with two other compatriots, who attend the same school.
Naturally, this trio becomes the accused because they paid the lodge fees.

The taxi driver who drove the students to the lodge happens to have been a former head boy at one of the schools. Says the statement:

After he had dropped them at the lodge, he rushed to notify us of the development because as a former student of ours, he is privy to our time tables and disciplinary ethos.
Because we understood we had no right to budge into the lodge to extract our children, and in respect of the law and for fear of dragging our brand into disrepute, we decided to notify the police first.
In other words we avoided taking a position we would have later regretted and we put the protection, safety and future of our girls first, while our brand only came second.
We are happy the police’s response was prompt and a raid was conducted leading to the arrest of an employee of the lodge.
I want to dismiss reports doing rounds on social media that this was a sex party… even the ZRP on its X handle never mentioned the names of our schools for purposes of protecting the children.
To our surprise, it’s now in the public domain who we are and who they may be. This is against both the constitution of our country and the Education Act which both speak to the protection of children.
It’s unfortunate the media has gone into a frenzy and the matter has been so popularised it’s a discussion you’d find during meal time and everywhere.

It is also alleged that one of the girls may have engaged in sexual activity with her partner by the time police officers arrived at the lodge.

A taxi driver told on six students who booked a lodge to do inappropriate things in Chitungwiza. Three girls from Excel College and three boys from Pathway College skipped class to meet there. Some of them met their partners for the first time that day. The police arrested a 19-year-old boy, and the girls were sent for check-ups and then taken home. An employee at the lodge was also arrested. The schools are providing support to parents. The principal said they couldn't intervene at the lodge, so they called the police. Taxi Driver Exposes Students’ Secret Lodge Rendezvous

A 36-year-old employee of the Royal Guest Lodge in Chitungwiza was arrested by the police on Wednesday for allegedly booking six students, who were in school uniform, into rooms at the lodge for sexual activities.
According to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/lodge-employee-nabbed-for-providing-rooms-for-students-for-sexual-activities/">H-Metro</a>, the suspect, Christabel Muchemwa, had booked three male students from Pathway College into various rooms with their female partners, who were students from Excell College. The students were reportedly charged US$20 for each room.
It is alleged that one of the female students, aged 17, had already engaged in sexual intercourse with her partner without protection when the police arrived at the lodge following a tip-off.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest, saying one of the male students is facing charges of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
Muchemwa is being charged with contravening Section 86 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act.
The police spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing, and the female students have been referred for medical examinations.
It is reported that the students had arrived at the lodge in a taxi, and the driver is believed to have informed the police about the situation.

A lodge employee in Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe, was arrested for letting schoolkids have sex in the rooms. The employee, Christabel Muchemwa, let three boys and girls from different schools use the rooms for $20 each. One girl, 17, had unprotected sex. The police came after a tip-off and arrested one boy for sleeping with a minor. Muchemwa is in trouble with the law. The police are still investigating, and the girls have to see a doctor. Lodge Employee Arrested For Booking Schoolchildren For Sexual Activities

Six unidentified robbers armed with metal bars attacked a guest sleeping in his room at a lodge in Chegutu on Friday morning.
Police said that the assailants reportedly robbed the victim of $400 cash, seized his car keys and forced him into the vehicle’s boot before driving to commit another robbery where they went away with US$8 000 cash. The ZRP said:

Police in Chegutu are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a lodge in Chegutu on 01/12/23 around 0100 hours in which six unidentified male suspects who were wearing hood jackets armed with metal bars, attacked a guest who was sleeping in his room before stealing US$400 cash and car keys for a BMW motor vehicle registration number AEH 1394.
The suspects forced marched the first victim to his car where they locked him in the car boot and drove to the second victim’s place of residence where they forced entrance into the house.
The suspects attacked the second victim forcing him to open a safe where they took US$ 8000-00 cash.
The suspects let the first victim out of the boot before driving off with his motor vehicle.

Police are appealing for anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report at any Police Station.

Six Armed Robbers Storm A Lodge, Drag Sleeping Man From His Room

Manna Resorts has issued a statement following a fire that damaged part of the complex on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was caused by a lightning strike and destroyed part of the lodge’s accommodation facilities.
The statement, issued by Manna Resort CEO on 2 November 2022, says there were no human or wildlife casualties. Reads the statement:

On 1 November 2022 at around 1230hrs, part of the Manna Resorts complex was struck by lightning which resulted in a fire.
The impacted buildings were PaSangano Lifestyle Centre and parts of our Panzvimbo and Tata accommodation facilities.
We are grateful for the swift response of both the fire brigade and emergency service that attended the site.
We are happy to report that there were no human or wildlife casualties.
As a result of the fire, we have reduced capacity for accommodation. However, the rest of the Manna offerings remain open as usual.
We remain open for all conferences, weddings, wildlife tours and restaurant bookings as usual.
