The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has recently announced a slight increase in the price of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) for January 2024. This decision was made in accordance with the Petroleum (Liquid Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 of 2021. In a statement seen by Pindula News, the regulator said the new LPG prices for January 2024 are as follows:

<li>US$1.85 per kilogram and</li>
<li>ZWL 11,744.78 per kilogram.</li>
</ol>
This price increase is slight compared to the previous prices in December, which were US$1.84 and ZWL 10,597.17 per kilogram. In November, the prices were US$1.85 and ZWL 10,597.17 per kilogram.
ZERA has instructed LPG operators to clearly display the prices at their retail outlets using legible letters. It is worth mentioning that operators have the option to sell LPG at prices lower than the prescribed rates if they have trading advantages.
In recent years, the use of LPG for domestic purposes has been on the rise in Zimbabwe. This can be attributed to the frequent power outages experienced in the country, known as load shedding. As a result, many households, especially in urban areas, have turned to LPG as a reliable alternative for cooking and heating. LPG provides a more consistent and efficient energy source compared to traditional methods, such as firewood or charcoal, which are becoming scarcer and more expensive.

ZERA Announces A Slight Increase In LP Gas Prices

The <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Energy_Regulatory_Authority">Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA)</a> lowered the price of Liquefied Petroleum (LP Gas) for May 2023.
The new LP Gas prices are US$1.72 per kg and ZWL1,912.22 per kg down from the previous prices of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/2023/04/08/zera-reduces-price-of-lp-gas/">US$2.02 per kg and ZWL$1 911.28 per kg.</a>
In an update seen by Pindula News, the regulator said retail operators are required to display these prices prominently in clear letters. It is allowed to sell LPG below the prescribed prices based on individual trading advantages.
LP gas cooking is popular in Zimbabwe due to its affordability, convenience, and accessibility. It is also considered a safer and cleaner alternative to traditional fuels such as firewood and charcoal.
However, access to LP gas may be limited in some remote areas due to logistical challenges and <a class="MarkdownLink_linkifiedLink__KxC9G">infrastructure limitations</a>.

ZERA Has Lowered The Price Of LP Gas For May

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum (LP Gas) for March.
In a statement, ZERA said the price of LP Gas is now US$2.06 per kg and ZWL$1 861.35 per kg with immediate effect.
Previously, the price of LP Gas was US$1.77 per kg and ZWL$1 499.85. ZERA said:

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices for November 2022.
The prices are calculated according to the Petroleum (Liquified Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 of 2021.
LP gas now costs US$1.78 per kg and ZWL$1 133.05 per kg. ZERA said in a public notice:

ZERA Announces Price Of Liquefied Petroleum Gas For November

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices for October.
The prices are calculated according to the Petroleum (Liquified Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 of 2021.
With effect from 08 October 2022, LP gas costs US$1.85 per kg and ZWL$1 161.58 per kg. ZERA said in a public notice:

Please note that it is permissible to sell LPG at prices below the prescribed prices depending on one’s trading advantages.

In September 2022, the official LP gas prices as announced by ZERA were as follows: US$1.88 per kg and ZWL$1 078.09 per kg.
