A 45-year-old man from Zhombe has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted by the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court for raping a 16-year-old girl who was employed as a maid in the same area.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the incident occurred on January 6, 2025.
The offender is said to have grabbed the complainant from behind, gagged her mouth with a cloth, and then proceeded to rape her.
After the heinous act, the perpetrator simply walked away. The traumatised victim reported the crime to her employer, which ultimately led to the offender’s arrest.
In another case reported by the NPA, a man from Victoria Falls is facing charges of raping a 13-year-old juvenile.
The alleged incident took place on October 10, 2024, in Chinotimba Township, where the complainant was alone in her bedroom when the accused person entered, forcefully undressed her and raped her.
The matter came to light on January 12, 2025, when the complainant revealed her ordeal to her aunt. The case has been remanded to January 28, 2025.

Zhombe Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Raping 16-Year-Old Maid

A Harare woman on Friday, 14 June was arraigned before the Harare Magistrates Court charged with stealing US$107 000 from her Chinese boss, <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200028317/maid-steals-us107k-shares-loot-with-cops">reported NewsDay</a>.
She allegedly shared her loot with two police officers stationed at Central Criminal Bureau, Harare, who are currently on the run.
Prosecuting, Rufaro Chonzi said that on May 30, 2024, in Highlands, Harare, Marvelous Mapfumo stole US$107 000 from the complainant, Mey Sisi Lin.
Mapfumo allegedly later shared the money with Hebert Chikwiza and Paul Kondo after they promised to protect her.
On June 12, 2024, detectives from CID Nkulumane, Bulawayo, were alerted by three sources that Mapfumo had boarded a truck to South Africa via Botswana.
The detectives acted on the information and arrested her before taking her to CID Highlands, Harare, where she implicated Chihwiza and Kondo as her accomplices.
Further investigations established that the trio met at a lodge in Waterfalls, where they allegedly shared the money.
The two police officers allegedly shared US$60 000 between themselves, while Mapfumo got US$47 000.
Chihwiza allegedly took Mapfumo’s share for safe-keeping saying he suspected that she was being tracked by detectives.
Kondo reportedly took Mapfumo to his girlfriend’s house in Sunningdale, where he restricted her from talking to anyone while he organised to take her to South Africa to evade arrest.

Maid Steals US$107K From Chinese Employer, Shares Loot With Detectives

A maid named Otilia Mushoriwa has been accused of stealing US$15,700 from her Chinese employer. She appeared before Harare Magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure and has been remanded in custody until Sunday for a bail ruling.
According to <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/local-news/article/200021475/maid-steals-us15k-from-chinese-boss">NewsDay</a>, the complainant in the case is Hongzhomg Chen, who lives in Avonlea, Harare.

<h3>What Happened:</h3>
According to State prosecutor Heather Muwokoto, on December 26, Chen received the money from his friends and placed it in a wardrobe for safekeeping. However, he later discovered that the money was missing. After searching, he found the cash inside Mushoriwa’s handbag in a rubbish plastic bin. Chen called the police, leading to Mushoriwa’s arrest.
The maid denies taking the money. The case will continue as the court determines the appropriate course of action.

Maid Steals Over US$15,000 From Chinese Employer

A Filabusi couple allegedly chained up, tortured their maid (19) and poured boiling water on her genitals for allegedly stealing US$200.
On 31 January 2022, Thembelani Moyo (28) and Sibongile Mpofu (28) who stay at Vukuzenzele village in Filabusi and work at Senga Hill Mill Mine discovered that US$200 which they had kept in their wardrobe was missing.
The two allegedly assaulted their housemaid- who cannot be named for ethical reasons- but she denied seeing the money, let alone stealing it.
However, after she had been savagely beaten up, the maid confessed that she had stolen the money and had already spent US$169 and was left with US$31.
It is alleged that a neighbour, Simangaliso Moyo, arrived at the scene with a sjambok and whipped the chained teen.
Mpofu then allegedly boiled water which she poured onto the half-dead maid’s private parts, saying that was to stop her from having sex with any man.
After assaulting the maid, the couple reported her to the police for theft leading to her arrest.
The maid pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared before Filabusi magistrate Abednico Ndebele but also exposed the abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of her employers.
Moyo admitted that they had chained her to stop her from running away.
The magistrate ordered that the teenager must be examined by a State doctor and remanded her out of custody.
While she was out of custody, the maid reported the couple and Simangaliso to the police, for assaulting her and scalding her on her private parts with hot water.
A medical report detailing the extent of the injuries on the maid’s privates was availed in her second court appearance.
The maid was sentenced to six months in prison by magistrate Ndebele.
However, four months of the sentence were suspended for three years on condition that she does not commit an offence involving dishonesty.
The remaining two months were also suspended on condition that she restitutes the US$169.
The couple and their neighbour were arrested for assault and appeared before Filabusi magistrate Sukoluhle Belinda Nunu last Wednesday.

Couple Chains, Scalds, And Sjamboks Thieving Housemaid

Police in Bulawayo have arrested Kimberly Ncube (pictured), a 19-year-old girl who was employed as a housemaid in Paddonhurst suburb.
Ncube allegedly kidnapped her employer’s one-year eight-month-old son and also stole the family’s vehicle which was parked at their house on Monday.
Posting on their official Twitter page this Tuesday, ZRP said both the child and vehicle were recovered. The child was found in good health and has since been reunited with his family. Police said:

The ZRP confirms the arrest of a maid, Kimberley Ncube (19) in connection with cases of kidnapping a baby boy (1 year 8 months) and theft of a white Sedan BMW 328i vehicle, registration number AEA 8833 which occurred on 31/10/22 at her employer’s residence along Mackenzie Road, Paddonhurst. The arrest led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the reunion of the baby with his family.

It has not yet been revealed where the maid was found with the child or the motive behind the abduction.
Earlier, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) deputy spokesperson in Bulawayo Province, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele issued a statement appealing for information from the public to locate the child. She said:
